A few days later Maia had finally made a decision of which route she would go, either agree to enter the fake relationship her manager Kate and Noah Miller's manager Phillip Graves had planned for the two young adults, or refuse the plan and continue to try to manage the release of their new album and future releases of singles and other projects themselves.

On Friday, she texted Kate that, after talking with her band-mates, she would agree to the arrangement between her and Noah Miller and asked, in what way the small group would proceed with the contract and everything surrounding the plan.

Kate quickly texted her that she would get all the needed information soon, but that Maia should concentrate on the band and other projects by herself for now. They had many band rehearsals in the near future, because after their release of their second EP a first tour in the UK was planned, which Maia and her bandmates were really excited for.

There was also an interview with the Rolling Stone magazine planned, a meeting the whole band couldn't really fathom yet since this magazine was one of the most popular music magazines ever and something all of them grew up dreaming about appearing in. The journalist would meet up with them before one of their rehearsals and then accompany said rehearsal. Scary but exciting.

"I will text you when I have the information for the next meeting.", Kate had texted her, which was yesterday. Since then Maia's anxiety hadn't stopped bothering her, if she had made the right decision or not. But in the end she also knew that it was done, she had decided and wouldn't just give up. There were other more urgent things going on right now, like the secret she had kept from her fans for a few months and for which the day of the reveal had finally come.

Her music career had started with her uploading covers onto YouTube and after gaining a bit of a following Maia had started to release her own songs here and there. And despite now having a band, she didn't stop releasing songs herself, under her own name, something she had insisted on being allowed when they signed with Taskforce 141.

Luckily they had agreed and so Maia continued to write songs for herself and songs with her boys for the band.

She wouldn't lie to herself; the song, like most of the ones Maia had written at that time and still does now, was obviously about Noah, or more so the struggles they had in the final bits of their relationship. Like the whole situation, it had hurt and despite knowing how much she loved him, even in the bad times, she knew that their time together had been over.

At that time Maia didn't want to accept it and only Johnny had managed to convince her that it wasn't really healthy for her to stay in a relationship so deeply important but also broken. Deep down she had known for a long time. And exactly that was "Moral of the story" about.

While writing Maia had known that this song was better as a duet and she already had an idea for whom she could ask to be part of this song.

Maia had met Niall through his girlfriend Florence Holmes, a talented photographer she had met in her time in Scotland since Flo was half Scottish as well and visited her family at that time. The two had instantly clicked and managed to keep in contact. When Flo had told her about Niall, bandmate of her best friend Harry, how she had caught feelings for him, Maia had been happy for her, because Florence deserved only the best and Niall seemed, from what she had seen and heard, like a wonderful guy.

Maia had been one of the first ones, Florence and Niall revealed their relationship to and until their soft launch in 2020 Maia had kept quiet. The young Dutch woman couldn't lie, sometimes she was a bit jealous of the two. Their relationship was healthy and safe, and she was convinced they would last until the end.

Exactly what she had thought, Noah and her would be. But in that she had been terribly wrong and now all the songs she could write by herself were about that topic. And somehow Maia managed to not repeat anything, always something new, never the same song over and over again.

And so Maia had texted Niall, asking him if he wanted to feature this song she had written some time ago and finally pulled out of the endless assortment of drafts she had written over the years because she thought he was perfect for it.
Niall had read and answered not long after telling her that he was obviously in, partly because he wanted and partly because he knew, Florence would hate him if he would reject the offer.

That's how Niall showed up at the shared apartment, where they had planned to record and produce the song by themselves, like Maia had done with all of her other released songs.
For the music video, they hadn't considered anyone but Florence Marie Holmes. As the talented video- and photographer she was, which had been internationally known since the One Direction tour she had accompanied, where her and Niall met and fell in love, Flo created a video concept both of them really liked and a few days later they recorded the video as well, finishing with something all of them were really proud of.
