It wasn't raining.

That was the first thing I noticed when I woke up this morning. To say I was excited would be an understatement. No rain meant I had the freedom to dress up again. Of course, that meant I also got the opportunity to decide on Bella's outfit. Which proved to be a bigger struggle than I hoped.

"No." She shook her head firmly at the blue top I held in my hands. It was a simple blue v-neck tee with a small white pocket but I threw it at her anyway.

"You're wearing it." I turned away from her and threw her a pair of black skinny jeans that she had buried at the bottom of her closet. "Oh and put this on too." I slid a thick grey cardigan off the top shelf of her closet and threw it at her also.

"I hate you." She mumbled, slipping her pajamas off of her body.

"Yeah, yeah." I dismissed her with a wave of my hand. "It could be worse, I could have forced you to wear a skirt." I gestured to the dark pink skirt I was wearing.

"No, I'm fine with jeans," I smirked smugly at her and patted her shoulder, moving her brown hair behind to one side.

"Good girl." I exited her room and went back to mine to slip on my black and white converse. Instead of fully dressing up I decided to keep it casual with just a pink skirt, a white tank top, and a black cardigan. I braided my blonde hair into a fishtail braid and tied it with a thin white ribbon.

"Bella let's go!" I shouted through the hallway after grabbing my bag and exiting my room.

"Do you ever not get dressed up?" She asked as we descended the stairs.

"Do you ever not wear a headband?" I grinned cheekily. She attempted to whack the back of my head but I ducked and dodged it. "Rude."

"Yeah, yeah." She dismissed me with a small smirk.

"You girls look nice," Dad commented as soon as we reached him in the kitchen.

"Thanks." I smile and skip over to him, placing a small kiss on his cheek. "Dad, Bella let me straighten her hair this morning. I almost had a heart attack when she agreed." I placed my hand over my heart dramatically and heard Dad gasp.

"Whoa." He played along with me. "Bells, are you okay? Are you running a fever?"

"Ha ha, you two are hilarious." She rolled her eyes and put her thick jacket on. "Let's go, Clary, we're going to be late."

"The Queen is never late, everyone else is simply early." I smiled.

"Well, the Queen is going to walk to school if she doesn't get her butt in the car," Bella smirked at me.

"So rude," I commented. "Bye Dad, be careful at work today." I kissed his cheek again before following Bella.

"Always am." I heard him say before we closed the door.

It was our second day of school and everyone was still staring at us like we were aliens from another planet. Bella was fed up with the staring and frankly, so was I. At first, it was tolerable but now it was just annoying and aggravating. We both tried to make the most of it but Bella handled it better than I did.

We were at our lockers and we could clearly hear what people were saying about us as they walked by, but we tried so hard to ignore it. But I couldn't anymore. I turned around and snapped at everybody in the hallway.

"If you have something to say, then say it to my face. If you don't, then keep your mouths shut and our names out of them." Nobody said anything after that. And it stayed that way for the rest of the school day.

My second day of school went more smoothly than my first. Maybe because I now knew what I and to expect or maybe it was because of the new friends I made. Having a friend in almost all of my classes made it easier and the fact that Bella and I had the same gym class, made it funnier.

It was volleyball day and volleyball was a sport that I was exceptionally well at. It was the only sport I could play but it was among the list of sports Bella couldn't. Because we were on different sides of the net, I couldn't help her if the ball came to her. She had to fight it by herself. It was amusing, especially when the ball hit Mike - who was on the other side of the gym - on the head. Mike quickly forgave but Bella decided to sit the rest of the class out to avoid any further casualties.

The first half of my day went smoothly but I knew it could quickly change if fate decided it'd hate me today. In Government, I was a little relieved to note that Emmett Cullen hadn't been at the desk beside mine. But I knew that just because he skipped that class, it doesn't mean that he wouldn't make it to the rest of them. To say I was hating the idea of going to lunch would be a reply big understatement. I wasn't ready to feel his glares burn through the back of my head, nor was I ready to face him at all.

I wasn't planning on confronting him, I didn't want to know why he stared at me so coldly. Part of me said that I should know but another part said to leave it alone. I listened to the latter. It was only my second day at Forks High and I wasn't about to piss off the popular kids.

When I walked into the cafeteria, Emmett Cullen was nowhere to be seen. Neither was his brother Edward, whom I knew Bella had a fascination for. Their siblings were there but they weren't. He wasn't. Part of me was disappointed at not seeing him but a major part of me was happy. I wouldn't have to deal with his glares and feel like I was about to be doomed for all eternity. Knowing this made everything easier.

The second half of the day went just as smoothly as the first. There were no complications, nothing. I supposed I might have jinxed it but I didn't care. School just got better - which is something I never thought I'd say.

In art class, I sat next to Jasper Hale but didn't say a word to him. At least not until he introduced himself to me. We were assigned as partners for the upcoming art project and we were practically forced to keep our conversation growing. Jasper was a nice enough guy and he didn't give me any glares like Emmett had but they were brothers after all. Maybe his kindness was fake.

After art, Jasper had left me confused. He apologized for his brother's behavior and then strolled out of the classroom without even a second glance at me. I saw his twin sister eyeing me from across the hall, but I avoided her gaze and sped off to my next class. The Cullen/Hale family confused me to no end and I was curious as to why.

The rest of the week was the same. No Emmett, no glares, but suddenly the other members of his family kept approaching me. His brother Edward had returned - which I knew excited Bella - but he still hadn't. From what others were spreading around the school, Bella and Edward had become fast friends. I was happy for her but envious too.

From what she had told me, Edward treated her the same way Emmett treated me. But she got an apology, I was still waiting for mine. And by the end of the week, I had given up hope that I would get one.

My first weekend in Forks was uneventful. Bella and I hung out the entire time. We visited some of the local shops, drove around to familiarize ourselves with the area, and watched sports with Charlie. Nothing exciting happened and I liked it that way.

On Monday morning, I stayed in bed and refused to leave it. Overnight I developed a small cold and Dad told me to skip school for the day. Bella was a little upset that she would have to face everyone alone but I quickly reminded her that Edward would be there. At that, she quickly smiled and practically ran out of the house to get to school.

I slept most of the day and my fever had gone down but I felt much worse. Bella had gotten home and insisted I go to the hospital but I didn't agree. It was just a stupid cold, I didn't need to go to the hospital for that. But I ended up there anyway. All because I stupidly fainted while taking a shower.

So there I was, lying in a hospital bed with Bella chewing on her thumbnail while we waited for the doctor to come.

"I'm fine," I reassured her.

"Oh yeah because it's normal for you to faint while taking a shower." She scoffed and rolled her eyes.

I opened my mouth to say something back to her but the doctor had come in and quickly shut that down. He was unlike any doctor I had ever seen. He was gorgeous and he seemed like he belonged in a magazine. With a glance at his nametag, I knew that he was Emmett's father.

"Hello Miss Swan, how are you feeling?" He asked kindly, looking at the clipboard he held in his hands.

"Like crap," I mumbled. He chuckled and smiled at me.

"Well, it seems that you've just caught a small cold, it's nothing serious." He reassured me.

"But she fainted." Bella kindly pointed out. I glared at her but she ignored me.

"That was just from the lack of fluids in her body." He explained. "As long as she stays hydrated, she should be fine. I'll send you home with a prescription for cold medicine and you should be back to normal by morning."

"Thanks, Dr. Cullen." I smiled at him. He returned it and left the room. "See," I turned to Bella. "I told you I was fine."

"Just drink more water." Was the last thing she said to me until we arrived home.

At home, I faced a worried father, who paced the living room waiting for us to arrive. I told him everything the doctor told me and showed him the medicine I had to take but he still hovered and I was a little grateful that he did. It reminded me of when I was younger and I'd stay here during the holidays. Bella would stay with mom in Phoenix and it'd just be Dad and me. I had always been more of Daddy's girl and that never changed.

The Doctor was right, by the next morning, I was back to normal. I was still sneezing like there was no tomorrow but I was healthy enough to go back to school. Which I did. I wore a simple pair of blue skinny jeans, a white scoop neck tee, and my converse. I curled my hair into large ringlets and put the top half of it up and placed a blue bow above the hair tie. My makeup was done minimally and I had my favorite black zip-up hoodie tied around my waist.

At school, I could hear the comments people had to say about me being back and them making up crazy stories about where I had gone. Bella had told anyone who asked that I was out sick but they didn't believe her and created their version instead.

I ignored everything anyone said and cuddled into my hoodie as a cold chill enveloped me. I had left my thicker jacket in Bella's truck and I immediately regretted it as I noticed that it had started to snow.

Walking into Government was awkward as heck. Everyone stopped talking and watched as I entered the room and sat in my seat by the recently returned Emmett Cullen. I was surprised to find him already sitting beside me but I planned to ignore him as I folded my arms and placed my head on the desk.

"Hey." I heard his deep voice say. I knew it was him because nobody had bothered to start talking since I entered the room. I picked my head up and turned to face him.

"Hello," I replied kindly, my hazel eyes meeting his oddly colored golden brown ones.

"I'm Emmett Cullen." He smirked slightly. "I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself correctly last week. You're Clarissa Swan, right?" He asked though he already knew the answer.

"Clary." I corrected him.

"Clary, that's pretty." He grinned. I couldn't help but smile back a little before turning to face the front of the room. Everyone was staring at the two of us and I assumed it was because no one from their family associated with anyone outside of it. Well until now.

Nothing else was said and I was relieved. I was still majorly confused at his sudden bipolar behavior but I was happy he no longer hated me. The rest of the class period was spent taking notes on a video we watched and he didn't try to talk to me. It wasn't until the bell had rung and I was about to leave that he said something.

"I'll see you in art?" He asked, a small glimmer of hope in his eyes.

"Sure." I gave him a small smile and left the classroom.

I was looking forward to seeing him in art class but what I didn't know was that we had the same gym class as well. I showed up at the gym with Bella by my side only to find Emmett and his brother Edward leaning against the wall laughing.

"They're in our gym class?" Bella questioned. I only gave her a shrug as a response and continued to watch Emmett until he glanced up at me. I quickly averted my gaze with a blush on my cheeks and went to the locker room to change, Bella following right behind me.

This class just got a heck of a lot more interesting.
