"Your help." I sighed. "Aro, I need your help."
"Anything for you my dear." His sickly sweet voice sent a shiver down my spine. "We are at your disposal."
"I'm in a certain, uh, predicament and I need some information." I scratched my forearm nervously. I didn't want to tell him too much detail, I didn't want to tell him more than he needed to know.
"What sort of situation?"
"Can a vampire impregnate a human?"
He sucked in a breath I'm sure he didn't need. "My dear, are you pregnant?"
"If I say yes, are you going to kill me?" I snorted.
"Certainly not." He laughed. "The information you're looking for is unheard of. Vampires don't normally fall in love with their human blood singers, we just simply drain them. And most of us only mate with others of our kind."
"So you're saying that my unborn half human half vampire baby is a miracle-type thing?"
"Not a miracle, just one of a kind." None of this was helping me. "I don't believe it helped you, did it?"
"It didn't." I ran my hand through my hair, frustrated by the lack of information. "It's okay, I'll just see how this goes then."
"I shall have my guards do some research. In the meantime, take care of yourself. I will be in touch."
"Thank you, Aro."
"Anytime my sweet." I hung up and stuffed the phone into my pocket. I debated on deleting the call from my history but nobody messed with my phone anyway. My decision to talk to Aro has blurred away from Alice. Since I've been pregnant she hasn't been able to see my future. The baby is messing with her and blocking any ability from me. Edward can't read my mind, Alice can't see anything about me, and Jasper can't alter my emotions. The baby is blocking it all.
I stood to my feet and bundled myself tighter into my jacket. The sun was just setting and it wasn't too late for me to take a walk on my own. I made it to the end of the gravel driveway and took a glance back at the house before continuing. I walked aimlessly down the road, not having a destination in sight. I needed to clear my head and walking was the best way for me to do so. I passed by multiple houses, all of them a small distance away from the other.
"Clary?" I stopped walking and whirled around. Leah was walking toward me and I sighed quietly. "What are you doing out here alone?"
"Needed to clear my head." I shrugged.
"Mind if I walk with you?" I shook my head and gave her a small smile. She and I walked side by side before either of us broke the silence.
"How can you all be so okay with this?" I blurted out.
"Okay with what?" I gestured towards my stomach and she nodded in realization. "I think it makes it a little easier because it's you," Leah spoke truthfully. "Plus the guys are kind of overlooking the fact that the baby is half vampire. If they forget, it makes the situation easier to handle."
"But I can't ever forget." I sighed. "I'm trying to think of it as a normal pregnancy but I can't. I have a half vampire half human kid inside of me and it's scary to think about."
"Hey, you're not alone though." She placed one of her hands on my shoulder. "I know we didn't always get along but you're like a sister to me Clary. I'm not letting you go through this alone."
"Thanks, Leah." I smiled faintly at her. We started walking again and I kicked at the ground with my shoe. "Do you think Emmett will change his mind?"
"Honestly Clary, I don't know." She shook her head. "I don't care for them but considering he is the Dad, I hope he does."
"He seemed so gung ho about it and then he just shut me out." I looked up at the sky and blinked back tears. "I'm not even sure if we're still together."
"I think that maybe you two should talk it out. And then decide from there." I nodded and smiled at her. "I may not be the best with relationships but I do know that something always comes out of talking it out. Whether it's good or bad is up to you."
"You know you're not as bad as the guys keep saying you are." We laughed and she punched my shoulder gently. Something pressed against my stomach and I stopped laughing.
"What's wrong?" She looked at me worriedly.
"I think he kicked." I unzipped my jacket and put my hands on my stomach under my shirt. I pressed gently and a small pressure was pushed against it. "He kicked." I smiled up at Leah. I grabbed her hand and put it against my stomach. Her warm hand touched my skin and then the baby kicked it in the same spot. She smiled up at me and removed her hand.
"It's so weird." We laughed. I put my shirt back down and left my jacket hanging open. "There's a living being inside you."
"I know." I giggled. "I can't quite come to terms with it either."
"And you have a small bump."
"I know. I have to be careful with what I wear now." I looked down at my tight shirt and saw my small bump protruding through the fabric.
"I think you'll be okay." She smiled reassuringly at me. "It's winter anyways. If you wear hoodies everywhere you go, no one will even notice."
"Yeah. Maybe." I smiled and looked at my stomach adoringly.
"We should head back." I nodded. We turned around and began to walk the way we came. Sam's house was eventually in our sight and we both shared a secret smile before glancing down at my stomach. We walked up Sam's porch steps before walking inside. The Pack was still sitting around the table and I greeted everyone while I hung up my jacket. I made my way toward Emily and tapped her shoulder. She looked at me and I grabbed her hand. I slid my shirt up and placed her hand on my small bump. Once her hand touched my skin, she felt the pressure as the baby kicked. She squealed and attracted everyone's attention.
"What's going on?" Jared asked. I gave him a wide smile before smiling back at Emily as the baby kicked again.
"I felt him kick." Emily smiled. She turned to Sam and removed her hand. She grabbed this large hand and placed it on my stomach, the baby happily kicking his hand too.
"Wow." He mumbled, smiling at me.
"I want to feel too." The boys all chorused. They all stood up and got in a line in front of me, waiting for their turn to feel the baby kick. Each time a hand was placed on me, the baby kicked and they all smiled.
"That's weird but amazing," Jared mumbled when it was his turn. I put my shirt down after everyone got a turn and sat down. A plate of food was pushed in front of me and I happily began eating the food piled on it.
"Okay time for patrol." Sam clapped his hands together and the boys groaned. "Paul, Embry, Seth, and Brady go." The four chosen ones groaned but obeyed. "Jake, Collin, Leah, Jared, go home." The other four groaned but left regardless. "Clary, when you're done go upstairs and sleep." Sam kissed Emily's cheek before leaving the house too.
"And then there were two." Emily joked. She smiled at me and I returned it. The day may not have started well but it had a great ending. My phone started to ring and I grabbed it from my pocket. Aro's name was lit up and I answered it before rushing outside.
"Aro." I breathed out his name.
"Clarissa dear, how soon can you come to see me?"
"You're in Italy, you're not exactly nearby."
"Then I'll have to come to you."
"Aro, what's wrong?"
"There are some things we've learned and I must share them with you at once."
"I'll come to you." I sighed. "Give me a day to get a plane ticket."
"I look forward to seeing you, my dear."
"Aro, you're not going to kill me, right?"
"Never my dear. You're perfectly safe with us." He reassured me but it didn't ease my nerves.
"I'll see you soon Aro." I hung up and shoved my phone into my pocket. I closed my eyes before opening them with a sigh. There was only one person I could call and I felt guilty doing so. I dialed the number and put my phone to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Dominic, I need a favor."
"Anything." He said without hesitation.
"I need you to get me a plane ticket."
"To where?"
"Italy." I sighed.
"I hope you know what you're doing girl."
"I do," I whispered. "Trust me." I hung up and stood up. I looked up at the sky and ran my hands through my blonde hair. I hoped I knew what I was doing, but if Aro knew something, I needed to know what it was.
