After her death, Abigail was forced to watch her family go on without her. It was like watching a bunch of toddlers roam free to take care of themselves and it pained Abigail that they acted like they were fine. Without her, they were miserable. In a way, she could say that she was even more pained to believe that they didn't need her.
Within the first year of her being dead, she spoke to them at dinner once. She was going on about how she was sorry she hadn't done it sooner and how she was glad they were doing well, and they responded like she wasn't even there. Like they didn't hear Abigail screaming at them to talk to her. If she wasn't already dead the act alone could've killed her.
Her next stop was by her secret lover. Though, as she was about to start revealing herself, she found out that they had moved on and found love with someone else. It broke her heart into a million little pieces, but she had to be strong for herself. If you could call crying by herself in the woods of the Other Side being strong.
Raul made sure she wouldn't be happy ever again after killing her. That was clear to Abigail and she realized that she should be entirely angry with him. She considered him her family still, even after his betrayal. But after finding her true-love shagging up with another woman want vengeance for what he did.
Abigail made him pay in ways he didn't even know was existed.
A couple of decades passed when her family shortly began to pass on. It was first her parents who tried to speak to her, but she shut them out like they did her many years ago. It took many, many more years until her whole family, minus Raul, we're all reunited and wanted her to join them. They had claimed that they didn't even know she was speaking out to them and were terribly sorry about everything.
Abigail was a family person. She loved the idea of family and even wanted to start her own. She was the kind of person to do anything for them, even dying in the process which she proved to be true. So, Abigail left her pride behind and rekindled with them all, catching up on all that she missed. Holding grudges seemed to pointless if eternity was on the line.
But it wasn't long before the Other Side was starting to collapse. Supernaturals were being sucked up into the sky into god knows where, including her family who she unfortunately wasn't managed to save. The one time she saved herself, they all just disappeared.
Abigail was running through the woods, trying to escape her fate somehow. Violet wind kept pushing against her and everything was slowly turning more white by the second. Her fate was running out quicker than she thought, and there was nothing she could do about it.
She came across two people standing near the cemetery of Mystic Falls before roughly approaching them. It seemed like the universe was hell bent on separating her from the two as the wind picked up and her vision was clouded with white.
Abigail finally reached them and placed a hand on the males shoulder a split second before everything went blank. Except it wasn't darkness that followed like the fate of everyone else had. This was different, she could feel it.
The white soon cleared and the winds stopped before she opened her eyes. They were still standing there together with her hand on his shoulder, but then the male noticed and violently pinned her against a tree, being faster than light.
"Who are the hell are you?" He asked defensively as his arm was against her throat, squeezing a bit too hard. Even at the expense of being choked, she was pleasantly surprised.
"I could feel this," Abigail whispered to herself with tears brimming her eyes as she flashed a smile, "Im alive again."
"That's not a clear cut answer, little girl," He narrowed his eyes at her before dark veins popped under his eyes, making her own widen and realize that he was a vampire. This made her look at him with disgust.
"Damon, let her go," The female said with a hint of annoyance in her voice, walking up to the two, "We don't even know who she is for you to be making demands."
"I don't really care, Bonnie," Damon answered back with a little eye roll, his grip on her neck never backing down as she tapped his shoulder.
"I can't...really talk...let go and I'll tell...you," Abigail tried to say without taking breaks to try breathing, the sensation soon becoming old and quite painful as she just wished for him to stop.
Damon hastily let go, leaving the girl to gasp for air while bending over. After taking a few deep breaths, she straightened out again and looked at the two staring at her with curious eyes. They were waiting for her to speak.
"Do you normally go around choking every stranger you meet?" Abigail remarked towards the man with a little glare, crossing her arms in a folded manner.
"Only the ones I find annoying," Damon answered with a smirk, looking at her like this was obviously one of those times.
"Damon, quiet. This is not the time for you to make enemies if you didn't notice," Bonnie shot at him, sighing before she turned to Abigail, "What's your name?"
"Abigail," She answered smiling at her, sharing a form of connection to the girl. Perhaps she was another witch like herself.
"Okay, Abigail, where did you come from?" Damon then asked, eyeing her as if to catch a lie.
"Is the Other Side a valid response?" Abigail questioned whilst having a staring contest with the mean man who almost killed her, again.
"You came from the Other Side?" Bonnie repeated, tilting her head a bit with confusion as she then took in the girls appearance.
"Look, as much as I love this conversation, I think we have better things to worry about then just who I am. In case you haven't noticed, we're not on the land of the living anymore," Abigail sighed and broke the tension after having enough of this silly talk.
She could feel it when her feet touched the soil of the earth. It didn't feel like the home she once knew and it surely wasn't the land of the dead, as she called it, as there were no dead supernaturals. This felt different and empty. Maybe they were all in peaceful afterlives who just happened to be stuck together?
Before Damon could interject with one of his stupid sarcastic remarks Bonnie then felt what Abigail was feeling. She felt that something wasn't right and instead of entertaining the conversation further she simply turned around and began walking.
"Hey." Damon called out to her with furrowed eyebrows before following her, muttering, "What?"
The three ended up walking into the main street of Mystic Falls. Abigail wasn't much familiar with the sight, but she's seen a lot in her times on the Other Side. Of course, all she was able to do besides talk to her dead family was watch the real world carry on and adapt.
Not like she herself knew everything about modern world technology.
She looked over to see Bonnie and Damon departed from her and were instead looking at one of the many food places, Mystic Grill, talking amongst themselves. This was her chance to finally escape the hostility she would have to endure from her vampire problem and go off on her own. It would be a new experience and would surely give her time to adjust.
But before she could even step two feet away, Damon appeared behind her with a confused look. He needed answers and Abigail could sense it. Though, there was nothing you could ask of the girl that she'll know and if anything would just be as confused as him.
"Where the hell are we?" He asked with a sudden change of tone towards her, his blue piercing eyes staring into her dark brown ones. "And i'm not talking geographically."
"I don't know," Abigail answered truthfully, sighing a bit as her eyes travelled around, "Are you going to let me go now?"
"You want to leave?" She heard Bonnie's voice question as the girl was suddenly in sight. Abigail nodded before the witch could continue, "How are you going to make it out here without us? I don't want to sound mean, but I'm guessing you barely even know what anything is anymore. Hey, maybe I could teach you."
"Yeah, 'cause that should be our top priority right now," Damon scoffed and crossed his arms turning around to face anything but the girls.
Bonnie sighed dramatically and looked in his direction, "Suggesting by her appearance, she doesn't even know what a toaster is, Damon. Why shouldn't we help her while also trying to figure out what the hell is going on?"
He didn't answer the girl, but judging by his look he didn't want to argue. His eyes drifted to Abigails clothing and sighed slightly, seeing a dress that only would be considered fashionable in ancient times. Well, maybe before he was even born anyway. Damon's eyes then lead up to Abigails, seeing the innocence in them.
"Fine. Whatever," Damon waved off before walking away, leaving Bonnie with a smile and Abigail slightly confused.
She looked to Bonnie with an eyebrow raised, "Are you sure about this? Albeit my own customs may be outdated, i'm sure I can manage on my own."
"If you're suggesting that I deal with him by myself, then I am absolutely sure about this," Bonnie smiled at the girl before taking her arm in hers as they both followed the Salvatore.
Abigail took in a breath and slowly let it out as she new this was bound to not go well. Bonnie didn't seem half-bad and was actually fairly nice to her, but Damon obviously didn't like the idea of a newcomer crashing in. But Abigail expected nothing much from someone of his existence.
