two months later
It's been a few months since Abigail came back to life and met the two strangers in the woods. Over the course of time, they all got to know each other a little better. Well, Abigail more than Damon and Bonnie. They were consistently asking different questions about her life, wanting to know more about what time period she was from. Although they were very welcoming, Abigail held back on information.
They found out that she is a witch, was betrayed by her brother and died when she was just 20, and that she got her revenge on him. She didn't go into the specifics about the last part; which they didn't mind. Well, Bonnie didn't mind, but Damon sure was curious about it. Abigail shut him out the third time he asked her what she did. He eventually stopped, though.
Even through her hatred for vampires, Damon has kind of grown on Abby. That's what he calls her when he's in a good mood, or Gail when he wants to get his head fried in a pot of oil. The two have connected on their love for family as that was all they talked about. She would ask him questions about his brother Stefan while she shared stories about her own siblings.
Bonnie, on the other hand, was absolutely perfect. The two girls have grown very attached to each other and for Abigail she was her best friend. Bonnie kept her end of her promise and on the first few days taught Abigail different things about the world now. Mostly about cars and television, but she stopped due to trying to get her magic back.
Abigail didn't blame the girl as she too was currently magic-less. She found out when she was outside and figured to test it out, but nothing happened. It hurt in a way to know that the one thing that made you special was no longer there for her, but she kept her feelings hidden.
It was the morning on the repeating day of May 10th, 1994. She was in one of the many study rooms, facing in front of a candle. Since that night when Abigail found out she lost her magic, she's been trying to get it back. It hasn't been working too good, though. Most of the nights often ended up in disappointment that even she couldn't deal with. She figured this time was going to go the exact way before giving up.
"Hey, Grams, breakfast!" She heard Damon yellโand rolled her eyesโfrom the kitchen. Sighing and putting the candle away, the girl went to where her acquaintances were sitting with pancakes. At first, the pancakes were horrible and tasted like dirt. Now, let's just say they're a little more edible.
"Hey, didn't I say to stop taking my flannels?" He questioned her with a little eyebrow raise, deciding to be in a playful mood. In all honesty, he just liked to get her annoyed. He noticed that when she gets annoyed she tries to shot something back which usually ended with him being amused.
This was his form of entertainment most of the time.
"Didn't I say that you're not my father and to stop acting like an asshole?" She fired back, not wanting to deal with his narcissistic self.
Bonnie stifled a laugh and Damon shot her a look, immediately causing the girl to go all poker face. This made Abigail smile as she took a seat and took a bite of the pancake.
It was the same thing every morning, but she wasn't going to complain about it. Not like she could cook her own food anyways as she's never cooked before. When she was still alive, her mother just did everything for them because she wanted all of her children to only focus on their magic.
Abigail loved her mother and in a way the pancake with the silly vampire face on it made her think about her.
"I am very disappointed with that tone, young lady," Damon said whilst furrowing his eyebrows before stuffing his face with nasty pancakes, "After this, you are to go to your room and think about what you've done."
"Shes older then you and therefore has the upper hand," Bonnie rolled her eyes as she looked upon the crossword puzzle that she was currently re-doing, not even bothering with her food.
"Yes, she was born before me, but that does not make her older because she died. I win," He shot backโwhich didn't even make sense to both the girlsโand then they were all quiet.
It was a nice quiet, though. All they ever heard was each other's voices all day, everyday. It was peaceful when nobody talked. Not that they were annoying or anything, it was just all too much with the same voices saying the same things.
So, of course Abigail had to ruin this.
"Alright darlings, I'm off to stare at a candle some more," She got up after finishing her pancakes and did a little finger wave, walking away. The two only nodded their heads a bit, too caught up in whatever they were doing.
She re-entered the study and sat back down in one of the many couches the room had to offer. After a few minutes of just sitting there, she started to doze off and dream about the worst thing she feared.
Her brother.
Abigail wondered through the many trees in the forest, wearing the flannel she stole from Damon and a pair of jeans Bonnie had lended her. She kept looking around her, not sure as to where she was or why she was there.
She finally came across a normal sized cottage. It was her family's cottage when she was still alive. Outside was a little picnic and a family was surrounding the main course.
It was her family. Raul, Gerald, William, George; her parents and even her baby sister Evangeline. Raul was standing up as if he were making a speech. They didn't sense that Abigail was standing a few feet away from them, so instead she stood back and listened.
"My dearest family," Raul started to speak, suddenly have a wine glass in his hand, "For years, I've had to endure countless of ill-treatment. My own mother, placing all the power in our eldest sister, may she rest in peace."
He continued to list the things that he found disrespectful towards himโGerald always going to Abigail for advice and help, father making him the less important witch of the family, then to them always underestimating him.
She eyed him with caution, wondering where he was going with this. Like he could read her mind, he began again. This time it wasn't just listing things to make his point.
"The reason I've asked you all to be here is quite simple, really," He chuckled and took a sip of his wine before finishing, "I've invited you all to this picnic to kill you."
His eyes flashed towards her and in that moment, she couldn't move. She tried thrusting herself to her family, but she was trapped. The eye contact between them was like a burning fire and she wasn't nothing more than to just wipe his smug look of his face, but she couldn't.
The vampires that night who had helped in her murder began to spur out of the woods with Damon at one side. It left her speechless and scared for the sake of her family. Her eyes widened as they started to slaughter her family, ripping their body parts apart like they were just dolls.
"No! Stop!" She screamed as tears starting forming in her eyes. That's when Raul started to make his way towards his little sister. If she was able to move back, she would've done so already.
"For years, I've had to sit back and let you take all the credit. No more. You will pay for what you've done to me and believe me, sister, you'll suffer just like how you made me suffer," He spoke with venom in his words until he was face to face with her.
"You betrayed me! I only did what I had to do," She said with some restraint, finally letting the tears slip away from her eyes as her family was being treated like pigs in the background.
"Yes, and I applaud you. But you know what was my only regret?" He asked with a smirk tugging at his lips, "That I didn't kill you sooner, dear sister."
That's when he ripped out her heart, like he did all those years ago.
Abigail woke up in a little sweat before whipping her head around, making sure that it wasn't real. It was just a dream, but it felt very realistic.
She breathed a little heavy as she wiped the sweat off of her face before burying her head into her hands. This was all too messy, she can admit. This must've just been a simple nightmare. But it felt so real and so vivid, like she was actually there.
But something else began alerting the girl. She looked up before looking at the window that was opposite of her, feeling like someone was watching her. It gave her tingles on the back of her neck. And it wasn't Raul, that was for sure.
Not to mention her witch senses; they were never wrong. She depended on them for such extreme cases and was even a bit glad to know that they had not left her side. But as she looked, there was nothing to indicate someone or something was watching her.
It was all simply in her head.
"I'm officially like Raul, completely insane," She sighed to herself before opening a book and continuing on reading on how to get her powers back.
What Abigail Winston didn't know was that Kai Parker was currently watching her. Not in a creepy way, but more doing his research. He saw the whole dream-sweat thing and it got his head racing. There was more to this girl then just her beautiful features, but also some skeletons in the closet. And he really wanted to know exactly what those skeletons were.
He couldn't wait to finally meet this girl.
