𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑳𝒊𝒛𝒛𝒊𝒆 𝒂𝒘𝒐𝒌𝒆 in the comfort of her bed the following morning, she was hit with a harsh headache, a slight sick feeling in her stomach, her suddenly blinding fairy lights and the reminiscence of what happened in the woods last night.
Scott McCall, just a random kid in a couple of her classes, was a freaking werewolf. Lizzie had gained a very short explanation for such a massive thing last night. Scott had said he'd explain everything in detail soon, but he didn't even know that much himself and plus, the other guy with him, Derek Hale (who, spoiler alert: was also a werewolf), had only allowed him to explain a little for now.
But what he stressed the most was for her not to tell anyone.
Lizzie was shaken up and confused at the recent discovery that Jacob from twilight was literally real, but she had agreed to keep his secret.
She groaned and rolled from her bed onto the wooden floor with a thump. She managed to pull herself up into a standing position and lazily walked over to her mirror. Through her half open eyes, she started at her reflection. She was still in her party clothes from last night and her hair was a mess.
She reached up to drag her hands down her face and then placed two fingers on her eyelids and tried to force them open.
"Wow, you look like shit." A voice came from her bedroom door. Lizzie checked who it was through the mirror and groaned again. "Hangovers sure hit you really bad don't they, L?"
"Piss off, please." Lizzie mumbled before grabbing one of her doc martins at the foot of her mirror and flinging it in Bobby's direction. Bobby lifted his arms to shield himself and then hurriedly continued down the hall to the stairs. He didn't want to provoke her anymore, as much as he would have liked to, he knew hungover Lizzie was not someone you wanted to mess with.
Lizzie changed out of her clothes a pulled on a matching set of grey sweats. She brushed her hair and pulled it into a messy pony. A knock on the front door could be heard from her room and after a few seconds a shout came from downstairs.
"Lizzie, it's for you!"
Lizzie rubbed her eyes groggily. Who was coming to her door at, she checked her alarm clock, 9:30 in the morning? It wasn't like super early but seriously, wait until it's at least past 10.
The small brunette made her way downstairs and towards the front door.
"Scott?" She questioned when she finally came into sight. Scott lifted his head from the stone he'd been kicking around and smiled at the girl.
"Hey, Lizzie. Are you free to talk?" He asked shyly. Lizzie nodded her head and smiled back at him.
"Come on, let's go for a walkie talkie." She replied as she pulled on a dirty, old pair of sneakers.
"A walkie talkie?" Scott questioned in confusion.
"Yup. It's where you walk, and you talk." Lizzie said in a duh tone. Scott chuckled; he knew he was going to like this girl already. After she finished tying her last shoelace, the new duo stepped out the door and into the cold, fall air.
It wasn't long before Scott had explained everything. The bite, the dead body, Derek Hale, his new abilities and how Stiles Stilinski was also involved. Lizzie had nodded along and tried not to ask too many questions. She could tell Scott was under a lot of pressure and her finding out his biggest secret wasn't going to be helpful for him.
Scott was just about to explain about the hunters when a baby blue jeep pulled up next to them on the highway they were walking along. In the driver's seat was a buzz cut boy with hazel eyes. Scott moved in front of Lizzie and opened the car door.
"Hey, Stiles...buddy." He grinned sheepishly. Lizzie raised one eyebrow from behind him and fiddled with her hands nervously, she didn't think Stiles knew that she knew yet.
"Hey, who's this?" He gestured to the small girl.
"Uhm- so this is Lizzie. She's gonna be around a lot more now." Scott said and Lizzie cringed.
"Wha-" Stiles started before he realized. "You told her?"
The shaggy haired boy scrunched his face up and nodded. "Well, technically she found out herself."
Stiles' gaze flicked between his best friend and Lizzie. He sighed. "Get in. Both of you."
Both of the awkward teenagers clambered into the battered jeep. Scott in the front on the side of Stiles and Lizzie sat uncomfortably in the back seat. Stiles glared at her through the mirror above him and made a face at Scott to let him know that he didn't trust her.
Scott rested his head on the window as Stiles started driving again. "She isn't going to tell anyone, besides I have much more important things to worry about now."
Stiles clenched his jaw. "If you say Allison, I'm gonna punch you in the head." He kept one eye on the mirror, watching Lizzie who was patting her knees to the beats on the radio.
Scott winced. "She probably hates me now."
"Ugh." The buzz cut boy groaned.
"She actually really likes you, you know." Lizzie finally spoke up from behind and Scott's face lit up.
Then, the two best friends began arguing and Lizzie tuned them out. She gazed around at the dishevelled jeep until her eyes landed on something interesting. A half-eaten packet of gummy worms was stuffed in the pocket of the car door. The girl pulled them out and tapped Stiles on the shoulder.
"Hey, dude, can I have these?" She asked and the boys' argument ceased.
"Oh my god," Stiles placed his hand on his head in annoyance. "Sure, have them."
Lizzie wiggled her shoulders happily and tucked into the packet as the boys started their argument back up again.
Allison this. Full moon that. It was a very tiresome fight.
She dug her hand back in to the bag to take another gummy word.
"Lizzie!" Stiles hissed from the front. "Can you eat a little quieter please?"
Lizzie screwed her face up. Stiles definitely had some sort of problem with her already and she'd only been involved for all of five minutes.
"Can you eat a little quieter please?" Lizzie mimicked and Stiles threw his head back at her immaturity.
"She's a literal child. How can you trust a child with this?" He asked Scott frantically; one hand was clamped around the wheel and the other was waving around.
"I trust her, okay? She's one of us whether you like it or not. So could you please give it a rest?" Scott snapped. Stiles rolled his eyes and glanced back at Lizzie through the mirror. She only grinned back at him and popped a final candy in her mouth.

Monday was a bore. The only interesting thing that happened for Lizzie was finding out Isaac had made the lacrosse team and she'd made the soccer team. However, other than that she wanted to die for the rest of the day. And to top it off, the canteen was serving soup and Lizzie didn't want soup. In fact, she almost cried when she saw the menu.
Kayla and Lizzie pushed through the double doors and out onto the school car park.
"Fucking finally!" Kayla yelled and threw her arms up into the air. "I swear I thought this day was never going end."
"Tell me about it." Lizzie mumbled. She pulled on the arms of her sweater to try and get it cover more skin. The temperature had officially dropped now, and it was starting to get really chilly.
"I got put next to your friend in geography, you know?" Stated the taller girl as they both skipped down the steps. Lizzie furrowed her eyebrows.
"Which friend?"
Kayla snorted. "Which friend? Beth, you only have two friends and that's me and Isaac."
Scoffing, Lizzie slapped her arm. "Hey, I have four now plus my brothers. So technically it's six."
"Oh yeah? And who are these new friends you have?" Kayla questioned patronisingly. She was mocking her.
"Scott McCall and Allison Argent." She shrugged her shoulders; she'd left out Stiles as she didn't believe he actually liked her very much. The duo weaved their way through the cars.
"Scott McCall, I know him and Allison Argent...Argent..." Kayla thought for second. She combed her fingers through her ponytail. "Oh, her. The new girl. She gives me bitchy vibes."
Lizzie spotted her dad waving from their honda a few feet away. "Hey, you haven't even spoken to her, K." The smaller girl waved back and stopped walking.
"You'll see. My intuition is never wrong." Kayla smirked and she tapped her finger knowingly on the side of her nose. They said their goodbyes and Lizzie hopped into her dad's car.
"Hey, pumpkin. Good day?" Andy greeted his daughter as he switched the car engine on. Lizzie hummed in response.
"Relatively."

The Brown girl sat on her chair and was hunched over her desk. The pen in her hand was being used to scribble down line after line of her poetry. She'd always found it calming and with everything that was going on at the moment, this was the time it could really be helpful.
Lizzie looked up from her writing and a loud ringing came from her open laptop laying on her bed. She glanced at the screen.
MetsFan100 and Scottiscool are requesting a video chat....
She only assumed it was Scott and Stiles, so she moved the curser to press accept. The screen changed and suddenly dumb and dumber were displayed side by side.
"Hey, Lizzie." Scott chirruped through the device.
"Lizzie, your username is shit. It's so boring, what does it even mean?" Stiles questioned.
Lizzie's username was simple: Lizzie B (Taylor's Version)
The brunette had been a proud swiftie for years and it was the only username that she thought fitted her.
"You're not into Taylor?" She asked and Stiles shook his head. "I like yours, anyway."
Stiles was frankly surprised. He was so set on not trusting her, he didn't even take into account that she might be a nice person. "Oh... thanks."
Lizzie picked her laptop up and placed it onto her desk so she could continue her poem.
"What did you find out?" Scott asked Stiles.
"Well, it's bad. Jackson's got a separated shoulder." Stiles said tonelessly.
"What did you do?" Lizzie questioned, not looking up from her writing.
"Scott went full wolf on him in lacrosse." The Stilinski boy explained, and the girl slammed her head on the desk.
"The one practice I miss is the one you try to kill Jackson. God, i would've payed to see that." She whined. Her voice was muffled by the wooden desk, but the boys could still hear her and chuckled at her comment.
"Is he gonna play?" Scott asked.
"Oh, they don't know yet, now they're just counting on you for Saturday." Stiles tried to be positive however Scott just sighed. He felt so guilty about what he did.
Lizzie lifted her head and gave a sympathetic smile to Scott. Then something caught her eye in the darkness of Scott's room and by the looks of it, it caught Stiles' too. It looked like someone else was with Scott, watching him.
Stiles started to type something in the chat when the screen froze for Lizzie. Both Scott and Stiles were stuck in the same position.
"Stupid crap wifi." Lizzie mumbled to herself.
A message appeared on the screen.
MetsFan100: It looks like-
10:49
Lizzie knew what he was going to say so she finished off the message for him
Lizzie B (Taylor's Version): Scott there is someone behind you.
10:49
Scott's picture suddenly disappeared, and Stiles unfroze.
"That was extremely creepy." Lizzie let out a breath she'd been holding.
"You know he attacked me in the locker rooms today." Stiles informed her, he ran his hand down his face whilst she bit her nails.
"He did?"
"Yeah- I think it's coz it's getting closer to the full moon."
"How the hell are you going to deal with that by the way?"
"I'm gonna teach him control."
"So... you're gonna be like his Yoda."
"Yeah, I'm gonna be like his- wait you've watched Star Wars?"
Lizzie scoffed. What a stupid question. "Of course I've watched Star Wars. It's like my favourite franchise ever."
Stiles jumped up and down in his chair. He'd never talked to anyone who had voluntarily started a conversation about Star Wars before. The little hyperactive switch in the back of his mind flicked on and Stiles started to impale her with questions.
"Have you watched all the films? Which ones your favourite? No screw that, who's your favourite character?"
Lizzie's hyperactive switch was always on, so she immediately matched his energy. She jumped from her chair, positioned the laptop so Stiles would be able to see her stood up and began to ramble.
"I've watched all the films, but I can't decide which one is my favourite, I've narrowed it down to a New Hope and Revenge of the Sith. I like New Hope because it's like the original one and I think Hann Solo was really funny. However, for a character that big, I think he deserved a better entrance. Not just the lame scene when he appeared in the bar. Anyway, I like Revenge of the Sith because I think it's such an interesting plot and everything is so creative. Plus, I quote Obi-Wan on a daily basis. My favourite characters gotta be Han himself or one of the droids."
Stiles nodded his head along eagerly at her ramble. He found himself agreeing with everything she said. He was starting to like Lizzie even though he may not trust her. She was super sweet, she liked Stiles' favourite type of gummy worms, she liked the Mets, she watched Star Wars and could actually hold a decent conversation about it.
The two continued to chat and swap Star Wars theories for a while. It was a good distraction with everything that was happening to Scott and a sort of bonding experience to help build up trust on Stiles' part.

The door to the coach's office was opened and out stepped Scott who was abruptly met by Lizzie. She'd been waiting intently for him to come out whilst eating her chocolate chip cookie.
"What did he say?" She ran to catch up with the boy who had already started to power walk down the hallway.
A phone beeped and the taller boy quickly read through it before replying. "If I don't play, I'm off the first line."
"Shit." Lizzie gasped and crumbs of her cookie tumbled from her mouth. They both stopped by a small flight of stairs as they noticed a familiar tall brunette walk down them.
"Hey." Allison smiled.
"Hey." Scott grinned back at his crush and the two stared into the other's eyes longingly.
"'Sup." Lizzie finished the rest of her cookie and interrupted the mini moment going on.
Allison snapped out of her trance first and questioned. "Busy?" She referred to the text she'd spotted Scott reading a few seconds ago.
"No, no, it's just my mom. She's nothing." Scott tried to play it off cool and Lizzie snickered behind him. Infront of him, Allison looked confused, and Scott panicked.
"I mean, it's nothing. I'm never busy for you." His voice got slightly higher as he finished his sentence. Allison tilted her head and smiled at the boy.
"I like the sound of that." She giggled. Lizzie, bored, started to wander around the area that the three of them stood in like a space cadette. She lifted her feet on took big strides back and forth.
"Uhm, I have to run to French class, but I wanted you to know that I'm coming to see you play tomorrow. " She bit her lip in anticipation for Scott's answer.
"You are?"
"And we're all going out afterwards. You, me, Lydia, Jackson. It's gonna be great." Allison turned to face Lizzie who had her face pressed to a locker. "Lizzie, you and Stiles can come too."
Lizzie lifted her head as Allison walked past her to get to class and glared at Scott. The boy stared back, his mouth open and his eyes widened.
"Absolutely not. Nope." Lizzie shook her head before she left to her chemistry class.
"Oh god." Scott groaned to himself as the bell rang.
Lizzie tripped over her shoelaces a little and she stumbled into her classroom. Mr Harris looked up from whatever he was doing on his computer.
"When will you ever stop falling into my classroom Miss Brown?" He sighed and glared at her through the thick lenses of his glasses.
"When will you ever stop pretending to do work on there, Mr Harris? We all know you're just playing candy crush." Lizzie shot back as she took her seat next Isaac. The curly haired boy snickered at her comment and Lizzie turned to smile at him.
That's when she noticed it.
A hearty black bruise circled his eye. She furrowed her eyebrows and pointed to it briefly. "Did you get into a fight?"
Isaac brought his hand up to his eye, he'd forgotten that was there. "Uh no... lacrosse." He cleared his throat and began to write anything he could in his book to distract the smaller girl. Lizzie didn't buy it however, she didn't want to push it in case something really bad happened and it was a touchy subject.
Mr Harris stood up from his desk and started to pace round his classroom. "Today we're going to start the projects we discussed last lesson. You'll be testing kitchen products for acidity or alkalinity by using your own home-made universal indicator. Then, you'll be categorizing them into tables and writing a 500-word summary of your experiments. You'll be working with the person you're sat next to, no buts. Work at each other's houses, the library. Hell, even work in a junk yard for all I care. Just get it done for next week." Mr Harris explained.
Lizzie turned back to Isaac. "Where do you wanna work? Your house? My house?"
Isaac flinched at her voice and widened his eyes. "Your house, definitely your house. Not mine. Yours."
"Mine it is then." Lizzie nodded and pulled her lips into a line. "You can walk home with me and my brother after school. My dad's making lasagne tonight so you can stay for dinner."
Isaac nodded and tried to conceal his grin. He was thankful for a night away from his own father and to spending it with Lizzie.
✯☾✯
Lizzie and Isaac met Bobby at the front gates of the high school.
"Ayup, nerd." Bobby called out to his sister. "Who's your friend?"
When they finally reached him, Lizzie shoved his arm in greeting. "That's Isaac, we're doing a chem project."
Bobby scanned the boy over. He recognised him from the lacrosse team, and he'd spotted Lizzie chatting to him sometimes. "Hey, dude."
Isaac mumbled a small "Hi" and the trio set off down the road. It wasn't as cold today, but you sure didn't want to be out there in a t-shirt. Lizzie pulled on her sweater and shivered slightly.
"Do you want my jacket?" Isaac kindly offered her, but she shook her head to say she was fine. They continued to walk the sibling's usual walk home.
"Did you ask Daisy out yet?" Lizzie questioned her brother in casual conversation. Bobby shook his head.
"Nah, I think she's more into Danny anyway."
Isaac and Lizzie creased their faces in confusion. "Danny's gay, everyone knows that."
Bobby raised his hands up in surrender. "I never said she was smart."
Lizzie rolled her eyes. Her phone beeped from her back pocket. She pulled it out and grinned as she saw the messages.

The brunette finally looked up from her phone. She'd realized what a hard task it was texting and walking. She shoved her phone into her back pocket and followed the two boys down her road. As they turned a corner, a faint sound of music could be heard in the teen's ears. Lizzie and Bobby shared knowing looks. They were unfortunately aware of what was going on.
The siblings picked up their pace and headed down the road whilst Isaac trailed behind them. When he reached the house after them, he noticed how small and shabby it looked from the outside however it had a sort of cosy vibe to it. The music was louder, and Isaac recognised it as the starting guitar riff from Sweet Child of Mine.
Bobby unlocked the door and Lizzie gave her friend a reassuring smile before they entered the house. They dumped their stuff in the hallway and Bobby sprinted to find his father, Lizzie and Isaac close behind.
In the kitchen, the trio were met with the sight of their father stood in the middle of the room dramatically playing the air guitar and Davis dancing around him. Lizzie slapped her palm to her forehead in embarrassment whilst Bobby rushed to join in the fun as the lyrics started. The three Brown boys energetically screamed along with the words they knew so well. They made multiple attempts to try and get Lizzie to join in, but she held back and opted for chucking apples from the fruit bowl to get them to stop.
"I'm so sorry." Lizzie muttered to Isaac, but she was surprised to see a large smile plastered on his lips. He wasn't used to this. These family moments full of love and joy.
Lizzie had finally given up and had grabbed her little brother's hands to twirl him around. Isaac gazed longingly at the fully functional family that he never had nor was he ever going to get. He suddenly felt awkward just standing and watching the family dance around however Lizzie noticed and let go of Davis. She leaned up to her father's ear and murmured something to which he smiled and gave a wave to Isaac.
Lizzie found her way back to her friend and squeezed his arm as a signal for him to follow her. She picked up both their bags from where they had been dumped. They climbed the stairs and into Lizzie's bedroom. She started to empty the contents of the bags whilst Isaac gazed around at the room. It was so full of life. Everything about it screamed Lizzie. Her room had an abundance more personality than his had ever experienced.
"I am really sorry you had to witness that." She apologized as she set up the test tubes and gear for the experiment on her desk. Isaac chuckled and unzipped his bag to grab his textbooks.
"It was cute."
Lizzie rolled her eyes. "Of course the night I decided to bring a friend round was the night my dad wanted to have a mini kitchen concert."
Friend.
She quickly nipped out her room and to the bathroom. Returning with a bunch of random bottles of different chemicals, she smiled up at Isaac. She heaved them all down onto the remaining space on her desk.
"Right...okay. I really have no idea how we do this." Lizzie placed her hands on her hips and scrunched her nose up in confusion. Isaac moved closer to the brunette and sighed softly.
"Don't worry, I got this. You can do the summary for us. I'll focus on the actual experiment."
Lizzie nodded gratefully and grabbed her notebook and pink pen, ready to start at any given moment as Isaac worked his chemistry magic.
There was a loud ringtone noise come from her laptop and Lizzie groaned, she knew exactly who it was. She opened up the lid of her laptop and sure enough, the two people she was expecting were requesting to video chat.
"This will be one second." She said and Isaac nodded as he began to busy himself with the experiment. The brunette grasped her device with both hands and sidled out of the room into the hallway. She dragged the curser over to press accept.
Scott and Stiles both appeared grinning on her screen. They both opened their mouths to greet her.
"Lizzie!
"Hey, L."
"Well, hello there."
The three exchanged large smiles.
"So, what's new?" Lizzie asked them.
"Well... My dad set a whole town curfew, Derek Hale broke Scott's lacrosse stick, Scott also broke into a morgue and are you free at like 9 tonight?" Stiles listed in the most positive sounding voice he could muster.
"Jesus, is that why you guys skipped fifth period? And yes, I'm free tonight. I have company at the moment but I want all the details in text form."
There was a mutual nod of understanding between the trio. Lizzie shut the lid of the laptop and made her way back into her bedroom where Isaac was stood patiently in the same spot, she'd left him in.
"I didn't know you were friends with Scott and Stiles." He stated. The girl ran her hands threw her hair and walked to her desk, setting her laptop down on the surface of her bed.
"Yeah, it's a recent thing."
Suddenly the liquid in one of the test tubes fizzed and Lizzie jumped back with a squeal. She really hated chemistry.
✯☾✯
A couple of hours later, the experiment was complete, the table was drawn, and the summary was written. The Browns plus Isaac were sat round the small kitchen table as Andy served out the dinner.
"I hope you like lasagne, Isaac." The man said as he spooned quite a large chunk onto his plate. Isaac nodded and smiled politely.
"It looks great."
Davis, who had already started eating his food with his fingers, looked up and stared at Isaac intently.
"Are you Lizzie's boyfriend?"
Andy smirked, Bobby broke into a fit of laughter, Lizzie choked on her pasta and Isaac's cheeks flushed a deep shade of crimson.
"Davis!" Lizzie hissed from across the table. Bobby was still giggling away so his sister hit him over the back of the head to silence him. She gave Isaac one of the many apologetic looks she was going to be throwing him tonight. Luckily for her, her dad changed the subject.
"Lizzie, you promised to let me read one of your poems tonight."
Lizzie cringed, she had actually. Her dad had been desperate to read the things Lizzie had spent most of her life writing secretively. However, she never meant to fulfil the promise of reading one. He didn't make her pinkie promise so she didn't feel like she was bending her morals if she broke it.
"Did I? I don't really remember-"
"Yes, you did. I loved the last one you showed me."
"Dad, the last one a showed you was the one I wrote in Elementary School."
Bobby's face lit up and he butted into the conversation. "Oh my god- I bet she was writing about Leo. That's why she won't show it to you."
Lizzie slammed her fist into Bobby's shoulder and Isaac creased his brow. "Who's Leo?"
"No one."
"Leo's her ex. He did a real number on her."
"Shut up."
"You punched me."
"Wow, really? I didn't notice, you fucker."
"Fucker."
"Davis, don't say that. Look what you've done, Lizzie."
"No, please do say it, Davey. And when you do I want you to direct it at Bobby."
"Fucker, fucker, fucker."
"Children! Please! If you haven't noticed, we have a guest."
All three Brown children shut up at their dad's scolding. Isaac watched them in amusement. Was this what it was like to have a family? They mumbled feeble sorrys and returned to their dinners.
"Can you pass me the cheese, Elizabeth?" Bobby asked in and over dramatic polite voice.
"And me." Piped up Davis. Lizzie picked up the bowl next to her and went to hand it to Bobby. When he reached out to take it off her, she cheekily diverted her arm and handed it to Davis instead, earning a huff of annoyance from her older brother. Their father rolled his eyes at his daughter's childishness and turned to Isaac.
"So, Isaac, you play Lacrosse with Bobby, right?" He asked. Isaac quickly finished gulping down his glass of water.
"Uh, yeah. I'm playing tomorrow." He replied quietly.
"Oh, brilliant. We're all coming to watch; we'll look out for you."
Isaac smiled. His dad would also be attending the match but not to watch and support like the Browns were doing out for Bobby, he was there to look for weakness and mistakes in his son. His smiled faded as he realised how different it was. Lizzie noticed her friends solemn face and reached her hand under the table to squeeze his own one that was rested on his lap.
He looked up to the small girl who was gazing at him intently. Her lips pretty lips parted, her hair that fell in front of her shoulders perfectly, her beautiful blue yes. She had no idea what was going on and yet she still recognised he was upset. For that he was grateful. He was extremely grateful for Lizzie Brown.
✯☾✯
Lizzie silently approached the two figures leaning on a jeep in the shadows of the Hale House. The boys had texted her to meet them there after Isaac had left. She'd also been informed that one of the hunters that were tracking Scott the night Lizzie found out was none other than Allison Argent's father. Just another conundrum to add more pressure to Scott's already pressure filled life. Leisurely, Lizzie crept up behind the buzzcut boy and pushed him in the back slightly.
"Boo."
Stiles screamed girlishly and Scott giggled. He knew she was coming; he could hear her due to his heightened hearing but he played along just so he could see the look on Stiles' face.
"Don't do that. Don't." Stiles gasped, his hand clutched on his chest to calm his racing heart. Lizzie only laughed and held onto the straps of her backpack. Once Stiles had calmed down, him and Scott reached into the car to grab their shovels and gear. Lizzie opened up her bag and pulled out a small gardening trowel and a bottle filled with red liquid.
Scott and Stiles, arms now full of stuff, stared at her in disbelief.
"What the hell are you going to do with that? I asked you to bring a shovel." Stiles questioned in a hushed voice.
Lizzie shrugged and pulled her bag back onto her back. "It was the only one I had."
"Is-is that hot sauce?" Scott asked. He pointed at the bottle in her hand. Lizzie waved it in the air, proudly.
"If you squirt in someone's eyes it can do some real damage. So, if Mr Derek Hale comes creeping round at me, he will be blind for at least a week." She grinned and Stiles made an oh my god face.
The trio started to amble closer to the looming house before them. It was dangerously creepy. Half the roof had fallen in, the windows were smashed and even the walls had cracks in them. Lizzie had only ever seen this house in the day because in the night it looked 10 times more intimidating. She thought that if anyone wanted to film a horror movie in Beacon Hills then this would be the perfect candidate for the haunted house. Stiles' torch seemed to illuminate the worst patches of the house.
"Wait, somethings different." Scott told them as they walked.
"Different how?" Stiles indicated for an explanation. Scott hummed an I don't know. The three tiptoed closer to the side of the rickety house and set their stuff down.
"Let's just get this over with." Scott planted his shovel into the ground and Stiles and Lizzie each copied his action with their own tools. Stiles had positioned his torch next to Lizzie's bottle of hot sauce and it blared light at the area that was being dug up. As they flung the soil behind them, Scott had his werewolf hearing switched on, Stiles frantically jerked his head around at the tiniest sound and Lizzie kept herself near her version of a weapon in case she needed to do some serious squirting.
Hours passed and the three teens' limbs ached from the continues digging. The hole they had dug had grown huge and they'd still not found anything worthy of their time. Sweat dripped from their foreheads and dirt caked their clothes.
"This taking way to long." Scott murmured to his friends. An owl hooted in the distance, mocking their efforts.
"Just keep going." Stiles panted through digs. Lizzie had it the hardest. She was on her knees in the hole scraping up tiny scuffles of the ground with her stupid trowel which she regretted bringing. She should've just said no to coming in the first place. Was this what being friends with Scott and Stiles entailed?
"What if he comes back?" Scott hissed.
"Then we get the hell out of here." Shot back Stiles.
"What if he catches us?"
"Then we jet him with the hot sauce, blind him and then each run different ways." Lizzie whispered; she used the sleeve of her zippy hoodie to wipe the sweat of her forehead. Stiles nodded at the small girls answer.
Suddenly, Stiles' shovel pierced through something that wasn't mud. "Alright. Stop, stop, stop."
They abandoned their tools and moved to crouch. Using their hands, they raked through the remaining soil. Dirty ropes that were tied together peaked out from underground. Lizzie and Stiles began to untie them.
"Hurry." The shaggy haired boy urged.
"I'm trying. Did he have to tie the thing in like 900 knots?" Stiles whined.
Lizzie nodded and let out a fake sob. "I hate knots so much. They're evil." Her fingers were sore but she tried desperately to untie the maddening things. Finally, with Scott's help, the trio managed to undo everything.
They pushed back the material that was previously tied. A wolf's head lay there staring up at them. All three screamed and jumped out of the hole. They each held onto each other tightly as they backed away.
"What the hell is that?!" Stiles asked frenziedly to either of his friends. Lizzie's breath was shaky.
What the actual fuck?
She peered her head over the hole and winced when she caught sight of the head again.
"It's a wolf." Scott was the one that replied.
"Well, duh." Lizzie sassed.
Stiles managed to catch his breath and turned to face Scott. "I thought you said you smelt blood. As in human blood."
Scott pursed his lips and tilted his head slightly. "I told you something was different."
"This doesn't make sense." The sarcastic boy waved his hand around. Lizzie dragged her own down her face.
"We gotta get out of here." Scott implied and Lizzie nodded along.
"Yeah, okay, help me cover this up." Stiles agreed. The shaggy haired boy and the girl started to cover the head back up but soon stopped as they noticed Stiles wasn't doing anything. He was glaring at something a few feet away. Lizzie followed his gaze to a singular purple flower.
"What's wrong?" Scott asked.
"You see that flower?" Stiles pointed out. "I think it's wolfsbane."
"Holy, shit." Lizzie jumped up from her spot on walked to get a closer look at the flower. Of course, there was such thing as wolfsbane. Everything about this screamed The Wolf Man. Stiles began to explain what the flower did to Scott, but Lizzie only peered closer. She loved plants, she had many in her room and she thought they were a great metaphor for peace and serenity. She'd never seen a flower like this before though. So beautiful yet so deadly to certain creatures.
Stiles joined Lizzie and bent to pluck the flower from the ground. As he pulled it up, the two noticed a rope attached to the stem. Stiles pulled at the rope which snaked through the dirt. He kept on pulling and it dug up pieces of the ground in a line. Lizzie followed him. The rope went on for yards, it spiralled around the hole that had just been dug.
Scott's mouth abruptly dropped open and he immediately stood up at the sight now before him.
"Guys."
Lizzie and Stiles stopped following the rope around and briskly walked to where Scott was stood. The moment they looked in the hole, they're stomachs plummeted.
"Oh." Stiles gasped. He grabbed onto Scott's shoulder with one hand and Lizzie's wrist with his other.
"Well, shit." Lizzie's eyes widened.
In the hole, the wolf's head had been replaced with a human body. But only the top half. It was a girl wearing nothing but dirt and she stared up at the brunette trio lifelessly.
Derek had half a dead body in his front yard.
