𝑬𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂 𝑹𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒅. Lizzie knew that but there had always been a slight yet sure flicker of hope alight in her subconscious.

The second Derek trudged, with his head bowed and brow creased, towards Lizzie, Allison and Scott with the body of a once angelic girl in his arms, the flicker inside the pixie roared, setting fire to a small fragment of her heart.

She wasn't quite sure how to describe how she felt for Erica, only the bond inflicted something Lizzie had never experienced before.

✯☾✯

In the time Lizzie had come to know Isaac, a particular flaw of his stood out to her.

That boy could sleep soundly through an entire war without so much as a stir.

So, when she was tasked with recruiting Isaac to help the search for Vernon Boyd and Cora Hale, she practically predicted the strenuous work.

The missing pair had taken off at the first sign of escape, slinking into the dark night and towards Beacon Hills Preserve.

Isaac had a small room at the back of Derek's new loft. If it wasn't for Lizzie, the cozy, blankety aspects would be non existant.

She'd envisioned a picture perfect, warm bedroom and that was what she'd made it, with Isaac's help of course.

He'd laughed and thankfully kissed her lips after she'd turned up with the whole decor store in her arms, expressing how much she'd 'very much like to help him out'.

Lizzie took an extremely deep breath as she stood outside his bedroom door, so deep, in fact, she was sure her lungs would collapse.

She pushed the door open briskly and there, breathing softly underneath a mountain of blankets in a sturdy wooden loft bed, elevated on sleek metal beams, was her very own Isaac Lahey.

Lizzie knew waking her boyfriend up was no little matter, she had to go big or go home.

The cat in her arms meowed shortly, confused as to where she was.

The pixie shuffled over towards the bed and gently placed Mimi beside where Isaac's head lay on a blue pillow.

And that was all she needed to do, her steps were retraced and she stood quietly outside the door.

In the time Lizzie had come to know Isaac, another particular flaw of his stood out to her.

He was deathly afraid of cats.

✯☾✯

Seeing as Lizzie didn't have abnormally sharp claws and teeth or enhanced strength, it was established that she took up the role of taking care of those that had been terrorised by Boyd and Erica.

She watched as Scott, Isaac and Derek circled Cora whom they'd found prowling around a small tent in the middle of a clearing with her eyes set on a terrified girl.

Fangs glinted and growls emitted. Lizzie's wavy hair fell over the sides of her face, her lip tucked between her own teeth as Cora fled out of the opposite side of the clearing, followed closely by the boys.

The girl left alone amongst the trees let out a sob as she frantically searched around her for what, Lizzie didn't know.

The sound of Lizzie's footsteps startled the girl, she pivoted with a gasp and backed away.

"No, no," Lizzie held her hands out, "I promise i'm not going to hurt you."

The girl observed Lizzie through a teary vision and let her approach.

"I'm gonna lead you out of here, is that okay?"

The girl could hardly nod, tremors wracking all over her body.

Soft crunches of leaves beneath the two girls' feet weaved within the stillness. They stepped cautiously, the tall trees acting as their silent guardians, parting a dimly lit path for them.

Lizzie found herself taking the girl's hand and guiding her through the woods along with a crisp breeze.

The serene symphony that wrapped around them like a comforting shroud, was soon broken. Familiar snarls cracked from behind them.

Lizzie pushed the girl behind her and turned to come face to face with Boyd.

She struggled to recognize her friend, his features distorted by a storm of rage. Boyd's eyes, once warm and familiar, now burned with an intensity that eclipsed their usual brightness

Nothing but the desire to aid the boy swirled around Lizzie, she clutched the girl's shoulder.

"Run, keep going straight towards the road."

The girl was light on her feet, running the way she'd been told and leaving Lizzie alone with her sensitive complex.

Boyd stalked towards her, the animal thrashing about in his mind completely in control. The undying tempest in Boyd's expression told Lizzie that he wanted nothing more than to see her skin in shreds.

That meant Lizzie had to fight him no matter what, but, the small knife of Chris Argent's that was tucked in the heel of her boot was not going to be used.

Boyd snapped at her, swiping his claws manically and scratching at the air as Lizzie ducked and scrambled backwards.

The silver glow of the moon played hide-and-seek with the dancing shadows but, Lizzie managed to snatch its power, harnessing the light and increasing the intensity.

Bright white engulfed the wolf and the pixie as Lizzie could hear Boyd's animalistic struggles.

Lizzie pushed harder, her eyes firmly sewn shut, brightening the light into something of blinding capacity.

Boyd yelled out, panting and pressing his palms to his eyes.

The pixie's strength was mighty but not at such a length it bettered a werewolves'.

Sharp. Something sharp sunk into her ankle, snapping Lizzie out of the concentration she was holding on to.

Boyd clawed into the skin ferociously, the light fading and fading and fading...

Lizzie inhaled tightly as she dragged her leg from her friend's gasp.

Boyd roared, regaining his strength, the full moon forcing him into an overwhelming, unpredictable sense of anger that was focused on Lizzie.

"Boyd...boyd," Lizzie breathed desperately, "Please don't. Please."

That was it. Her voice. Even the full moon couldn't hold off the recognition.

Ever so slightly, Boyd's uncanny grip loosened. It was just enough for Lizzie to tug her limb away.

Warmth.

Short streaks of warmth and an orange glow.

Small flames shot up from the ground one by one, surrounding Boyd, roaring warningly.

A pair of arms wrapped around Lizzie's bicep, towing her backwards from the scene.

Lizzie hopped, spinning around to run the best she could.

Annie carried her weight, grimacing strivingly as the trees sped past them.

"Hi," Lizzie murmured in greeting, glancing down at the bloody mess that was her ankle. Her skin was ripped and torn, flesh mangled.

Seriously, not a pretty sight.

All the excitement had made Lizzie rather tired. However, the leaking trail of blood was not enough to let one thing slip her mind.

"My friends, Annie-"

Her words fell into nothing as the sound of something large crashed through the trees behind them. Pursuing footsteps pounded the floor, getting closer and closer.

The gnarled branches reached out like grasping fingers in the darkness and it was obvious the trees weren't siding with Lizzie any longer.

A mound of dirt crept up on them, sliding under Annie's feet and sending the both of them tumbling down.

Annie yelled out as she fell, her head colliding with a root of a tree. Her body fell limply as she was knocked unconscious.

Lizzie crawled towards her, dragging her frail body. The shadows seemed to close in around them, and the forest fell silent, holding its breath. The wolf emerged from the darkness, revealing a face distorted by determination and anger.

The only sound was the danger hanging in the air, a palpable force that marked the end of the chase and the beginning of what Boyd was going to be haunted by as the night to a close.

Lizzie steadied herself, holding herself up, eyeing Boyd carefully.

She could pull him back, she wasn't going to let him slip.

"Boyd," She used her voice again. "Boyd, do you...do you remember the last time we saw each other?"

Boyd twitched, her voice pressuring the human side.

"You were in my house," Lizzie continued softly, "You, me and Erica."

His form trembled like Erica's name had sent a shockwave through him.

"You came to say goodbye because you were leaving to start a new life. With her. With Erica, Boyd. Do you remember her?"

Lizzie watched as her words took an affect, "I do. She was gorgeous. She had beautiful golden hair and brown eyes,"

Boyd's head shook, the wolf battling him as an anchor plunged down.

"She was kind and smart and so deserving of that new life she wanted, don't you think?"

The pixie used her strength to push herself up into a stance and balance.

"I-i loved her so much. Boyd," Her words faltered, and her voice quivered as she tried to speak, the weight of unshed tears evident in the cracks that formed with every strained syllable.

She was so close.

The harshness in Boyd was slipping.

"And, i know you loved her too."

Glowing yellow faded into chocolate brown.

"I miss her already, but i'm gonna hold onto the memories that make me smile through the tears. She'll always have a special place in my heart."

Lizzie braved a stumble towards Boyd. His wolf like features were fading. But, with human side, came his emotions, crushing him.

"And yours," Lizzie smiled lightly, "Boyd..."

His shoulders dropped and his head fell.

"I'm sorry." A chocked up sob formed in his throat.

Lizzie let out a relieved gasp, practically falling into the tall boy and wrapping her arms around his torso.

"I'm sorry, sorry."

With shaking arms, heavy with grief, pain and exhaustion, he folded them around Lizzie.

"I know, Boyd."

✯☾✯

A foolproof plan was what Chris Argent had devised, one of which was not to fail or the population of Beacon Hills was at risk of being ripped to shreds.

Ultrasonic Emitters were planted around the Preserve to push the wolves into the direction of the High School for the rest of the boys to trap them in the basement.

However, it seemed, the omniscient werewolf hunting expert was not as all knowing as he seemed.

The plot was to lure Boyd and Cora into the school but, the pack managed to attract only Cora who'd completely put a huge rift through the plan as she'd climbed atop of the school.

It had taken the not so secret appearance of Allison Argent to drive Cora into the school, but, still no sign of Boyd.

In the end, after a rather dramatic fight between the two Hales, full of family squabbles and a work out of differences as well as locking his sister in a room with an unsuspecting teacher, Derek had managed to force out his sister's human side.

Chris Argent made his way along the parking lot, followed by a breathless Isaac. His eyes were wide, frantic with fear.

"We need to find Boyd!" The boy barrelled into the man.

"Isaac..." The Argent sighed and pinched his nose.

Isaac shook his head vigorously, "No, i don't know where Lizzie is. She was in the woods and if Boyd's still out there he'll-"

"Isaac-"

"She won't answer her phone. She won't-"

"Isaac!" Chris repeated firmly, rendering the boy silent as he nodded his head to the side.

Isaac followed his motion, squinting against the beginning of the sunrise. There were two silhouettes painted against the pink glow.

Boyd and Lizzie stood beside the Hunter's SUV, the pixie leaning against Boyd, using him as a means of support.

Her face was splattered with dirt and there were leaves in her hair but she was grinning from ear to ear.

"Oh my god." Isaac whispered, he sprinted towards her, the wind tousling his hair as he closed the distance, eager to envelop her in a warm embrace.

"What the hell happened?" He untangled his girlfriend from Boyd and grasped her face, peppering kisses over her forehead. "You okay?"

Lizzie nodded happily, pulling Isaac's head down to press her lips to his cheek, "Yeah, gonna have to go see Mellisa about my leg though."

Isaac glanced down to see what she was referring to for himself, "What the fuck?"

Boyd's vision dropped to his shoes guiltily. Lizzie squeezed his arm, quickly reassuring him.

"You're back. That's all that matters."

"Yeah, i don't think so. We're going to a hospital," Isaac disagreed, looping his arms under Lizzie's legs and lifting her from the ground bridal style before turning back to Boyd, "I'll deal with you later."
