The atmosphere was tense as Izzy drew her attention away from the people she'd been confronted with. She swallowed thickly and mustered up the kindest smile she could in her nervous state. "Nice to meet all of you." She shoved her phone in her back pocket and moved closer to Franco, knowing the man understood what was happening.
"Let's move this meeting over —" Mr. Nobody trailed off as shouting interrupted them.
"Potter!" Izzy rolled her eyes at the horrid nickname some of the men she worked with insisted on calling her. She didn't think her glasses were anything special but she was dubbed the nickname when she made the mistake of wearing them outside her office. "Potter!"
"If you'll excuse me." Izzy smiled tightly and clenched her jaw as she stepped away from the two teams. "Kipper if you shout that damn name one more time I will happily shove my foot up your ass!" Izzy shouted back.
"She's a real spitfire isn't she?" Mr. Nobody chuckled before walking away. His team didn't hesitate to follow him but Dom and his crew stood back.
"Dom." Letty looked up at her husband and her eyes flickered to where the girl was. "It's her. It's too big of a coincidence."
"I know." Dom nodded. "At least you know she's alive now." Letty sighed and Dom could feel his team looking at him curiously but ignored them and followed after the other men.
From across the room, Izzy glared steadily at her boss. The man appeared aloof before her, he predicted her reaction, he was prepared for it. "They're here to help." He knew Izzy wouldn't argue with him. Out of everyone he's trained — besides her uncle — Izzy knew him the best, having even been entrusted with his real name.
"Don't think this conversation is over. I still have a lot of things I want to yell at you." Izzy huffed and pushed past him and directed herself towards the stairs that led to her barely concealed office. Dom watched the girl storm off and took note of the man, Genie, following right behind her.
"So what's with the nicknames? Like how did you get those?" Roman inquired as he stared at the three silent men.
"Roman, man come on." Tej scoffed.
"It's a serious question!" Roman defended himself. "Like if we're gonna be working together, I think we should know these things."
"Yo Rook!" Roman jumped at the sound of the booming voice from behind him. He backed away slightly as Tej and Brian laughed at him. The crew watched as a younger guy jogged towards them. "Explain the names." Monty grunted out.
"Sure, okay." Rook nodded. "I'm Rook, which is short for Rookie. That's Cowboy, it's based on his last name, Wayland which is almost like Waylon Jennings. Franco, which is just a shorter version of his last name, Francini. Monty, because he's as big as a mountain—"
"Well no shit." Roman gawked.
"Genie, because his last name is Grant and Potter is because Izzy has these black circle glasses she wears all the time."
"Thanks Rook." Franco nodded and relaxed his posture but didn't uncross his arms. "You can go now." He waited for the young recruit to be out of earshot before quirking an eyebrow at Roman. "Anything else you want to know?"
"I'm sure I'll think of something." Roman mumbled and took a seat at the table.
"Should we wait or can we start?" Brian glanced at Dom before looking back to Franco.
"We can catch them up later." Franco and his team took seats at the table and Brian nodded.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Genie was patient as he watched Izzy toss her bag onto the floor and plop herself onto the swivel chair.
"Not really," Izzy responded leaning her elbows on the desk. She rested her head in her hands and closed her eyes as she fought the headache she could feel forming.
"Iz, you gotta talk to me," Genie says beside her and he pushes the girl's hair behind her shoulders.
Izzy took a deep breath before turning to look at him. "You remember when I told you about my birth parents?" Genie nodded. "He's here." Genie dropped his hand in shock and Izzy groaned and put her head back in her hands.
"Oh shit," Genie repeated her earlier words. He knew it was Dom, he could see the resemblance now that he thought about it. "Does he know?"
Izzy snapped her head up so fast she almost gave herself whiplash. "Hell no. And he never will." Izzy rubbed her hands over her face before dropping them into her lap. "If there's one thing I've learned about Toretto men is that they preach a good game but fail to actually follow through."
"I don't get that vibe from him," Genie commented. "Him being here proves that. He's here to find the man who tried to kill his family. He's not like your uncle Izzy."
"We don't know that." The girl denied his suggestion. "I really don't want to find out either. We both have enough on our plate, the last thing we need to worry about is mending something that never existed."
"He's your Dad, Iz." Genie sighed sadly. The man sympathized with her but he couldn't know exactly what she was feeling, his upbringing was wildly different from hers. "You have his last name. His blood runs in your veins."
"I won't put myself in his world. It didn't end well for my Mom, it sure as hell won't end well for me either."
"You can't blame him for something he didn't know about," Genie told her sternly.
"Not with that attitude, I can't." Izzy joked. Genie chuckled under his breath and brought the girl into his arms as he hugged her tightly. He felt her body relax in his hold and he wanted nothing more than to stay in that position for as long as he could, but they were at work and they had jobs to do. He pulled away he left the girl to prepare the route for the mission.
"Caleb," he whirled around at the use of his legal name. "Thank you." Izzy smiled at him. His chest tightened as he memorized the sight.
"You're welcome, Potter." He winked at her and walked down the stairs. Izzy chuckled and shook her head. She slid her glasses onto her face and got to work.

"Your girl good?" Monty interrupted Roman's rambling about wanting to be the leader as he noticed Genie sitting beside him.
"She's good," Genie confirmed, a proud glint in his eyes. "What do we got?"
"A whole bunch of nonsense." Monty scoffed.
"I'd argue with you but you're too damn big man. What do they feed you up in here?" Roman huffed. "I need to seriously hit the gun after this."
"Roman." Dom chuckled. "Focus."
"Oh right. So here's what I think should be going down —"
Izzy peered over the group as she watched from up top. She could faintly hear what they were saying but her attention was on the man she shared a last name with. As if feeling her eyes on him, Dom glanced up and stared straight at her. It was a silent staredown that was interrupted when Letty joined in.
Dom had the suspicion the girl knew about his world then she led on and the thought of that little girl in a pink jacket being brought into this world didn't sit right with him. That little girl turned into the young woman standing above him and he wondered if she remembered him from those times. But with the way she continued staring at both him and Letty, he knew she did. Her eyes conveyed something more but he couldn't decipher it but he would.
He'd get his answers.
"Cowboy, you're with me. Only because big man scares me." Roman mumbled as he paired the Elite team with his friends. "Big man, you're with Tej." Roman grinned as he thought his friend would be just as scared as he was but he quickly frowned when he noticed the two men nodding to each other respectively. "Oh, whatever." He huffed. "Franklin—"
"Franco." The leader corrected.
"You're with Letty." Roman nodded as he deemed that a good pairing. "Genie can ride with Brian. Or drive you since you've got other shit to do." Roman shrugged. "Okay—"
"Whoever gets Ramsey, that's where I want to be." Izzy interrupted him as she made her way to them.
"You're not coming," Genie told her sternly. Izzy crossed her arms over her chest and raised her eyebrows questionably.
"Says who?" Izzy countered his protest. "They're in this position because of something I helped program. I'll be damned if you're leaving me here."
"It's way too dangerous for you to be out there," Genie informed her. Everyone was silent as they watched the argument.
"And?" Izzy scowled. "I've been a part of missions worse than this when I was a kid, this is nothing for me." Dom felt uneasy at her statement. "I'm going." She stated and left no room for arguments. She turned to Dom and quirked an eyebrow. "You're transporting Ramsey?" He nodded. "Then I'll ride with you." She turned back to Genie and put her hands on her hips. "Good?" He reluctantly nodded. "Good." She nodded. She looked around at the new faces before stopping on Tej. "You're a builder?"
"Yeah." Tej nodded.
"Good. Come with me." Tej shrugged and stood up to follow her. The merged teams watched them walk away, the girl picking up a tablet and handing it to him.
"I like her," Letty announced.
"She scares me." Roman shuddered. Everyone laughed at him and he gaped at them. "It ain't that funny."
