Calum let out a choked sob as Ashton's message came through.

He loved that Ashton was being open about his pain, because he knew how hard it was to speak out.

But it was also saddening, in a way, because he understood that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't fix what had happened to Ashton.

Despite his sadness, Calum allowed a smile to creep onto his face. Ashton was willing to try and fix it. Sure, Calum couldn't change the past, but Ashton wanted to save himself.

Calum's heart swelled with pride and love.
