v. Silenced voice

"That man is no
longer my father"
On a typical day, just like any other day, Binna inexplicably found herself trailing after Yi-chan, driven either by sheer curiosity or the fluttering of her heart. Despite momentarily losing sight of him earlier, she chased after him for a short distance before a concerned girl almost accidentally hit her, rushing over to inquire about her well-being.
Nevertheless, Binna made a bow and proceeded along her path, being driven by an inexplicable urgency to locate Yi-chan.
After meandering through the dimly lit streets, she stumbled upon a sight that she wished she had not witnessed. With great urgency, she sprinted towards Yi-chan, who lay motionless on the pavement, covered in blood. Binna vigorously shook him multiple times, hoping for any sign of him awakening, but he remained completely immobile.
Binna's hands swiftly became tainted with blood, causing them to tremble uncontrollably the moment her brown eyes caught sight of the thick fluid. Without a moment's hesitation, she instinctively sought assistance. Initially, she attempted to reach out to the hospital through a phone call, only to experience immediate remorse. She even attempted to seek aid from bystanders, yet they all turned a blind eye to her pleas. Eventually, in her desperate search for a glimmer of hope, she crossed paths with the same girl as before.
"You almost jumped into me there earlier, right?" The girl expressed her concern, removing her helmet
Se-kyung?
"My goodness. Are you okay? Did you get— B-Blood. Is it from bumping into me earlier? My goodness" However, Binna disregarded Se-kyung's worry and forcefully pulled her by the arm "Hold on, hold on! Where are we going? Binna? Yoon Binna. Yes, Binna. Let's talk instead. Let's talk. Violence isn't the answer"
"You have to help me, my friend he..." Binna started to express her desperation, indicating Yi-chan's motionless figure just a few meters away
Se-kyung focused her gaze in the same direction as Binna's observation, and she saw Yi-chan. As soon as she spotted Yi-chan, Se-kyung hurriedly went towards him, expressing her worry through her facial expressions. Binna, with tears in her eyes, felt a sense of relief and turned around, following the same path she came from.
Occasionally, I deeply desire the ability to communicate verbally. Mother, my voice remains unheard. Can you explain why?

Binna, still a little shocked from the previous events, walked into her home, her face did not carry any emotion, the unknown boy who came out of the mansion did not even seem strange to her. She continued on her way as if nothing had happened, she felt nothing at all. She felt empty.
Maybe it was due to her lack of bravery and inability to speak up that she refrained from using her voice, despite her deafness. Her icy stare intersected with the boy's, who came to an abrupt halt when he noticed her. It appeared as though he recognized her, though she had no recollection of ever encountering a face like his.
"Huh? You're..." The Boy observed, but Binna seemed uninterested in conversation, evident in her eyes "I'm sorry" he apologized and proceeded on his path, mirroring Binna's actions.
Binna went to her bedroom and finally had a chance to catch her breath. She placed her backpack on the bed and changed into more relaxed attire. The images from earlier overwhelmed her mind, leaving her feeling incredibly frustrated. These feelings only intensified when she saw her stepsister harassing Cheong-ah in the hallway, who laid on the floor with an emotionless face.
Binna confidently walked over to her stepsister, holding her school jacket, and came to a halt right in front of her. She confronted her stepsister, who had a smug expression on her face, and without hesitation, she forcefully grabbed the brown jacket from Binna's hands upon noticing the red stains on the fabric.
"Did you get into a fight again?" she inquired, retrieving a keychain from Binna's jacket pocket "What's this now?" Binna's eyes widened with recognition, but her stepsister waved her hand when she attempted to take it "What's with that reaction? How suspicious. Did you steal this? Is that why you got all bloody?" she questioned, refusing to return it "Is it a limited edition? Thank you. I'll enjoy it" she smirked sarcastically
Binna's hands tightened into fists as she grew weary of her step sister's spoiled behavior, and she forcefully gripped her hair.
"That's mine, give it back!" Binna shouted angrily while forcefully grabbing it from her stepsister. After she successfully retrieved her keychain, her stepsister glared at her with intense animosity and forcefully shoved Binna back.
Binna's stepsister set aside her shopping bags and began to have an intense tantrum. Then, she aggressively launched herself towards Binna, grabbing her hair. Subsequently, both of them engaged in a hair-pulling frenzy, initiating an inexplicable and chaotic altercation.
However, she ceased moving as soon as the young girl standing before her became motionless, fixing her gaze on someone positioned behind Binna. At that moment, Binna comprehended the impending occurrence.
Her stepsister started portraying herself as the victim, seeking her mother's attention and deceiving her with falsehoods that she would unquestionably trust.
"Give me that" requested her stepmother, stretching her hand out, however, Binna declined to comply. Consequently, her stepmother forcibly seized it from her grasp, which triggered Cheong-ah's anger as she observed her sister being mistreated "Shut up, aren't you going to shut up?" Ji-mi abruptly clutched Cheong-ah's arms firmly "What are you, an animal? Talk like a human if you are one. Shut up!"
"Stop it please!" Binna desperately called out for the action to cease, desperately attempting to physically detach her stepmother from her inconsolably weeping sister
"Be quiet! I specifically mentioned that you should not talk until Cheong-ah spoke first! Will you behave if I tie you two down?" Binna's stepmother yelled, gripping Binna's arm firmly, trapping the two sisters against the wall "Will you listen to me if I lock you two in?"
"I said stop it!" Binna shouted at the top of her lungs, having reached her limit. In an act of desperation, she sank her teeth into her stepmother's hand, causing her to groan in agony. Despite turning her face away when her stepmother's hand forcefully struck her cheek, Binna remained resolute, locking her jaw and glaring at Ji-mi with permanent, unforgiving hatred
"Those eyes. I told you not to look at me with those eyes" reproached her stepmother, as her hand poised to strike once more. However, someone intervened and firmly restrained her hand
"What are you doing right now?" inquired the unfamiliar boy. Binna gazed at him with bewilderment; could this possibly be the identical boy who had gifted her the umbrella and whom she had observed departing from her residence just a few minutes earlier?
Why was he present in that location? Why was he taking up her defense? He gazed at her stepmother with an unexpected intensity of loathing. Ji-mi detached the boy's hand from her wrist and uttered words to him, but Binna was too taken aback to pay attention.
"Are you okay?"
In sign language, he anxiously questioned Binna, but she couldn't comprehend his message.
"Are you hurt at all?"
Sign language? Binna was unable to comprehend the message that the boy was attempting to convey to her.
"What kind of nonsense is that? If you don't let a deaf person use sign language how is she supposed to communicate?" His eyes burned with intense resentment, yet upon facing Binna, his expression softened instantly
"Tell me what's going on. You can tell me everything, Mom"
Mom? Binna looked at him with confusion, wondering if he had really referred to her as his mother. She continued to be lost in her thoughts and didn't react when Ji-mi positioned herself between them. Ji-mi was trying to keep Binna and Cheong-ah apart from the unknown boy who had unexpectedly sided with them, even though he didn't fully understand the situation. However, it appeared that this boy had a deeper understanding of Binna than anyone else.
"Discipline? Discipline do you say? What I saw today was clearly abuse"
Binna reached out to Cheong-ah, softly grasping her shoulders to reassure her that everything will be fine, while both of them acknowledged and valued the situation unfolding before them. Even their stepsister became involved in the dispute, yet what intrigued Binna the most was the boy's gaze towards both women, as if viewing them as unwanted intruders.
Binna observed with distress as they removed the young boy, who stubbornly declined to depart.
"Let go, I said! Does the chairman know, too? Does he know what's going on in this house? Does he know how his daughters are being treated, too? I'll tell him everything. I'll tell the whole world about what I saw, heard, and experienced here" Why does the Boy appear so distressed and furious?
Binna was curious about the reason for his sudden defensiveness in response to mistreatment towards her and her sister. Does he have some familiarity with them, maybe?
"Could I hear that first?" Without showing any emotion, the chairman appeared behind him
Binna avoided making eye contact with her father by looking down, as his cold eyes met hers. She believed that he was no longer her father after he welcomed Ji-mi and her children into their home.
Author's note;
I wanted to publish this chapter as soon as possible even though it doesn't make sense yet. I hope you all had a great Christmas since I couldn't update yesterday 😭 I apologize for that.
As you may have observed, some scenes in the show will be allocated to Binna as she is the primary character here 😌 However, Cheong-ah will still retain her presence as she plays a vital role in the storyline. It may appear that Binna is receiving all the recognition, but this is solely because I will only focus on portraying her perspective due to my limited time to write from everyone's viewpoint. Perhaps, I might also include Cheong-ah's perspective, but that remains uncertain. 🤷♀️
See y'all in the next chapter! 💕
