"Weasleys And Granger."
-EVERYONE NOTICED THE COMFORT ADHARA DISPLAYED BEING NEAR SIRIUS AFTER THAT NIGHT. For once, Adhara would always choose the empty seat next to the man whenever she would sit down. And Sirius would only smile in return, grateful for the second chance his daughter gave him.
He would not waste that chance. Not when he worked so hard to get it.
Right now, Adhara was in the library with Remus, who had finally healed from the full moon a few nights before. They were both reading books in silence. In a way, that was their quality time together. Silence and books.
Which was broken by the Potters—
"What is dear old Addie reading?" Harry appeared almost out of nowhere, grabbing the book from an already-annoyed Adhara.
She grumbled, standing up immediately. "Give me the book, Harry." She said, glaring at the boy.
Harry merely said, "Nope." and flipped through the book while rushing away from her.
Remus would've helped her, if not for the fact that he was going through the exact same thing from James. "Give me the goddamn book, James Fleamont Potter!"
James exchanged a look with his son, both of them laughing as they ran out of the library. Laughing like kids.
Adhara and Remus watched them leave. They grinned and sat back down immediately, pulling out the actual books they were reading from beneath the pillows.
"How long do you think they'll be running, thinking we're after them?" Adhara questioned, opening the book in her hands and continuing to read it.
Remus looked thoughtful, then grinned, "Ten minutes?"
Adhara shook her head immediately. "Harry can't run that long. Trust me."
Remus laughed.
Sirius, being back from his auror job that he had during the summers, slung an arm over his daughter's shoulder as they walked the way to the dining room. "Now, don't freak out, but—"
She gave him a confused look. That look of confusion was immediately gone and replaced by anger the second they stepped into the dining room.
"Weasleys," mumbled Adhara in disdain.
The Weasleys were visiting that night for dinner. It seemed like it was last minute, or else Adhara would've been told. Well, she was almost told a minute ago by her father, but it was too late.
The whole Weasley family was there, much to her dismay. All except three of them, Bill, Charlie, and Percy.
"Ickle-Black!" exclaimed the twins with identical grins.
Adhara rolled her eyes and tried turning around, wanting nothing more than to leave the room. But, Sirius stopped her and gave her a look. "You're not skipping dinner, Addie." He said sternly, ignoring her groan as he motioned for her to sit down in the empty seat.
She did so, but not without any complaints.
Ignoring her mumbles of many profanities, Sirius sat down next to his daughter and gave her a plate of food. He gave her another look, finally looking like the father he was. "Eat."
Adhara stopped herself from rolling her eyes. Instead, she did what he asked and started eating quietly, her eyes on the plate of food only.
She was disturbed when one of the Weasleys sat down next to her. Ginny Weasley, that is.
"Hello," greeted Ginny, brows furrowing when the girl next to her ignored her. She looked at her twin brothers, who both shook their head at her rapidly, motioning for her to be quiet. Ginny pursed her lips and didn't talk again for the rest of dinner.
The dining table was full for once, except a certain empty seat, that is. Adhara didn't know who it was for, but didn't bother asking. Conversation was flowing in the other end of the table, where the adults were. James, Lily, Remus, Molly, and Arthur were in a big conversation about muggles and their inventions.
Luck was not on Adhara's side that night. Because the second she finally settled in and accepted the fact that the Weasleys would probably be there for a few more hours, the fireplace roared, alerting everyone somebody had arrived.
"Hermione," greeted Ron, the first one to stand up and rushing over to the smiling girl.
Adhara's spoon fell onto the plate of food infront of her, her eyes following the boy who rushed into the arms of the girl she loved.
Her heart felt nothing but hurt when the girl she loved giggled and put her arms around the boy immediately.
Ginny noticed. She gave the girl next to her a look of pity, something Adhara would've hated if she had noticed. But she didn't notice. She was too busy staring at the bushy-haired girl in longing.
The only adult near Adhara, Sirius, elbowed her softly.
She immediately looked away and snapped out of her thoughts. "Why didn't you tell me she was going to be here?" She whispered to him, her jaw clenched. Not because of him, no. But because of them.
He looked at her in concern. "I didn't know," he whispered back truthfully. "Eat, Addie. Don't mind them."
Adhara didn't want to eat anymore. She lost her appetite. Instead, she stood up, alerting everyone when her chair made a screechy sound. But she didn't care, and left the dining room.
Hermione merely watched, her smile faltering. She let out a sigh. But her smile slowly returned when her boyfriend took her hand and led her to the table and said, "Come, eat."
Adhara flopped onto her bed and closed her eyes, trying to stop the tears from falling.
All the hurt she had hidden in her heart was slowly slipping through the cracks, and coming out of her eyes.
She wiped the few tears that fell and sighed, then let out a groan and grabbed her pillow, throwing it on the floor in anger.
She hated that she had to lose someone to know the worth of everyone else. She hated that the 'someone' was none other than the girl she loved with all her heart.
Adhara didn't deny it anymore. She loved Hermione.
She loved the girl with her whole heart, her whole brain, her whole soul.
Adhara did not know the meaning of true love until she watched the girl slip through her fingers and hold someone else's.
She did not know the meaning of longing until she had to sit at the dinner table and watch the girl hug her new lover.
The fact that it was Ron hurt Adhara more, because she always had a feeling he liked Hermione. She even warned Hermione once, who denied it.
She figured this was how Hermione must've felt when she found out about Alyssa Nott. Then, about Pansy.
Adhara let out another groan and threw her other pillow onto the floor in anger. Instead of throwing the vase that had no flowers in it, she opted for something that wouldn't shatter and hurt someone else if they accidentally stepped on it. Maybe that was progress.
The door opened, making the girl immediately wipe her eyes and stand up. Harry poked his head through it, wincing at her look. "You look terrible," he pointed out and walked in without an invitation, closing the door behind himself.
She rolled her eyes at the boy and sat back down on her bed. "I didn't know she was going to join. I'm just going to hide here for the rest of the night until she leaves."
The boy scratched his neck, which made her give him a look of suspicion. "Well, actually, she's going to stay the night."
"What?" Adhara gasped, standing up. "Here?"
Harry nodded. "It was last minute. Her parents have taken a trip to America, and she has nowhere else to go."
"Why won't she stay with the Weasleys?"
"Because." He gave her a pointed look. "Hermione's father did not fancy the idea of her staying over at her boyfriend's house."
She felt a pang in her chest at the use of the word 'boyfriend', but nodded. It made sense.
"And," continued the boy, again sheepishly. "She will be spending the night here in your room. There are no other rooms available."
He was right. The manor barely had any guest rooms, almost as if the Potters and the Blacks had no visitors. Adhara reckoned they didn't.
She became quiet and crossed her arms, her eyes holding the emotion of fury behind them. She figured it would've been worse if she rushed back to Malfoy manor, showing that she was running away from problems. Instead, it was best to stay put and deal with them, or else the problems would come back to her.
"Fine," she finally said reluctantly. "But get me a matress."
