You were sitting there, watching the crowd disappear slowly as people were tranquilized by the authorities and went home.

Tony had been gone for a while, he said he'd talk with Steve and Sharon, she already came back but the both Avengers still hasn't finish appearently.

Sharon came close to you, didn't sit, after a moment quiet she talked:

-Look, no matter what Stark says now...-She started- You did a great job. Really. Thank you.

She gave a quick smile and you nodded with your head.

-What is going to happen now?-You asked.

-I'm leaving.

You couldn't help but open your mouth in surpise.

-But you saved those people, if you didn't discover--

She looked away then at you:

-I know...But it's just not possible. I'm leaving in one week.

-What about Steve?-You asked suddenly and she opened her eyes more surprised.

Sharon was a good person. He really liked her. And she seemed to like him too.

And they both seemed happy with it.

You supported it.

-We are friends. And that's all.-She answered

-I thought...

-No...-She chuckled- Steve has someone he cares about more.

You stayed quiet for a second. Someone he cared more? Steve had a girlfriend? Well he was indded discrete about romance, but you never imagine a secret girlfriend.

-And...-She added- I don't want this...Anymore.

-Do you have someone else too?

She gave a quick smile staring at you.

-Maybe I had quick feelings for a person-She turned her sight to the ground- That's pretty weird to talk about...-She chuckled and met your eyes- Just...Take care, ok?

-You too.- You got up and gave her hug, wich, she surprisingly retributed.-You deserve to be happy too. Just...open more to people, you are nice

She continued with her arms around you, a warm goodbye hug.

-You're very nice too Y/N-She said your first name for the first time.

She looked at you, a little strand of hair fell on your face, she grabbed it gently,passing carefully her hand in your face, positioning it behind your ear and giving a sweet smile.

She took her arms from you and stepped back.

-If any day you stop by at S.H.I.E.L.D's base let's have a drink.- She winked and you smiled. -Bye.

-Bye.

And she walked away, head up high, challenging the world, while walking elegantly in her heels.

The bruise on your leg wasn't so bad now, paramedics were sent after the people evacuated and took care of it, cleaning and bandaging it.

It hurted a little if you touched but nothing beyond that. The paramedic said it would be better in some weeks, you weren't worried though, since you were a child you'd heal fastly, some of the kids said that you'd recover like a dog, and that was actually true.

While immersed in thought you didn't even notice Steve coming, he walked fast, silent, his face a mix between sadness and serioussness, like he didn't regret what he did.

-Y/N-He started talking.

-Don't!-Tony interrupted.- Y/N let's go, I'm driving you home.

-But-- you tried to talk.

-No but. Now.-He ordered.

You glanced at Steve, he nodded almost saying "go, it's okay", then left him there, feeling a little pain inside.

You noticed Tony was using his car, not the limo as always. No sign of Happy or any driver.

He opened the door, shaking his head for you to enter, you did as he asked, then he slammed the door closing it. Luckily your whole body inside.

Tony entered, didn't say a word and started the engine driving away.

He has been quiet for a while. You noticed he was just driving in a random highway, like you didn't know where you were going. You tried to look at his direction but feared of what he could say.

At your head you started searching ways to apologize, explain snd beg to maintain at your job, but at the same thinking about the many "NOs", warnings he gave before.

He didn't look at you, not even glanced for a single second. He kept his eyes fixed in the road, like he followed an invisible target at the middle of nowhere.

You held both of your hands strongly trying to avoid the anxiety you were feeling. Why didn't he just say something? Talk, protest, scream, just do something! That silence was worse than anything you could possibly imagine.

Aftee a deep breath you finally tried to talk:

-Mr.Stark I'm sorry--

-Let's try something-Tony interrupted talking without taking his eyes out of the road-I'm going to tell you a story. After listening to it, I'll make you a question, if you answer correctly I'll let you speak.

You stared at him surprised, what did he have in his mind? There wasn't much to do, you nodded confirming.

-There's a guy, he's a boss, very prestigious one, well known internationally, and he gave oportunity to a girl work at his company.-He continued to talk- She seemed to have potential, so he believed in her and let her work at his company. This girl made many mistakes after it, like going to an attack with robots.

-But I helped--

-Just listens.-He retorted- Anyway, he forgave her, even after that. But one day, an agent from a nosey organization came, he gave important instructions to his employee to don't tell anything to the agent.

-And she didn't.

-Stop interrupting- he said sharply- The agent wanted to do something crazy, and risk the life of his coworkers just because of a theory she had. But the man, thinking wisely about that matter refused it. And everybody seemed fine with that. -He made a pause- But, at the middle of the night, he wakes up, as always because he didn't sleep well, and then he notices something weird. Like something was missing. So he went at his A.I and asked about the agent's location, because he of course, didn't trust her. And with reasons.-He continued- He discovered that the agent left to the mission he prohibited. Then he had the idea to bring his friend, a coworker of his, and take the agent from there, but instead he receives another surprise, he went with her. So he had this incredible idea to call his assistant- He had a sarcastic tone in his voice- And guess what? She wasn't at her house. Desperate he took his car in the middle of the night to find the three troublemakers, and when he arrives there, his assistant is injured. He glanced quickly at you- Tell me. What would you do in the man's situation? Would you fire her by breaking rules again?

He stared back at the road.

You didn't imagine such a hard question. You wanted to stay. You truly wanted. But the way he was...Tony was mad....

-She...She did what she thought was right...-You answered scared.

-And by right she thinks jt's right betray her boss with an agent she just met?

-Steve was there too.

-Oh yeah, you two. The two people I trusted did that. Silly me.

He seemed hurt. And he was right. Maybe you should have talked to him beforehand, maybe all of this wouldn't happen if you just talked.

-She should've talked with her boss before. He's right to be angry at her.

-It's not being "angry". It's beibg upset, disappointed.-He said serious- It's like someone stabbed your back. The trust he had in her it's broken.

You felt like he just slapped your face. Now you wished he just fired you, since it was almost impossible to even look at his face. You felt embarrassed.

-I'm so sorry....

-If apologies worked why police exists? Who can guarantee she won't fail with him again?

You stayed quiet for a single moment.

-You could've died there.-He said now directly to you- I got worried.

You two continued to look at the road, the trees almost impossible to see in the darkness, the lights of the car iluminating just a few steps ahead.

-I want you to stay away from the Avengers' tasks for some time.-He spoke.

-What?

-You are getting to involved in this. You're not a hero.

You didn't think you were a hero. You just wanted to help.

-No more training.

-But you said it was important-

-You proved you can defend yourself. I'm not turning you into a fighter.

-Aren't you being harsh? Mr.Stark--

-DAMMIT Y/N! IF YOU CONTINUE LIKE THIS PRETENDING TO BE STRONG IN MISSIONS YOU'LL END UP WITH A BULLET IN YOUR HEAD-He said loudly, you almost jumped scared. You've never seen him like that. He sighed and his voice went back to its' normal tone- I'm giving you another chance. Just this one. Don't disappoint me.

-I won't...-You tried to talk- Mr.Stark?

-What?

-Do you still trust me?

He took a while to answer.

-There's this thing Pepper told me once. Trust it's like a glass. When you break it will never be the same, no matter how much you try to fix it. You just have to buy another one. I'm buying another one by giving you this chance. Don't break it.

His tone contained a bit of sadness.

You felt like trash, you hated yourself for breaking his trust. It's always like that. You always disappoint people next to you. Maybe mom was right. Maybe no one could stay by your side because of that. How would they? You didn't blame them. In their place you'd do the same. Stark gave you a chance that changed your life and still you did that. He was right. His decision was correct and that's it. You weren't going to fail again.

He took a turn back to the city and started driving to the right path of your house. No one said a word. Just stayed in silence.

And it was better this way.

Two hours before

Steve's POV

The men who were captured were put in a bigger van, tied to it. Tony was talking with Sharon, you were just a few steps distant from them. It was a heated discussion, Tony had that look you knew very well, he wouldn't turn back in his decision. Sharon was stubborn, she wasn't going to admit defeat either. After a while they stopped, she walked away, her heels making a loud noise on the ground, she passed next to you.

-How did it go?-You asked and she stopped without lookibg at you.

-He wants me away from here.-She spoke.- I'll probably return to my position in S.H.I.E.L.D in a week.

You were schocked. Tony was really decided.

-Maybe I can talk with him-

-No.-She turned to you- It's better this way.

You got close to her and put a hand om her face, but she grabbed it and took it away.

-Stop.-She said, her eyes at the ground- Steve let's be serious, this thing... We had,-She eyes eyes with you now and shaked her head- We both know that even if it could work, we just don't feel it.

She let your hand go.

-Just...Take care of yourself. And try to understand what's going on with you. Move on.

-What do you mean?

-You never moved on from the name Carter. And we know it's not me.-She gave a bittersweet smile.- Goodbye Steve.

The wind passed through the both of you, a cold breeze taking away that brief moments of romance you had, move on...That seemed impossible.

-Goodbye Sharon.-You answered.

She walked away, slowly, and didn't look back.

-Steve.-Tony called you. His face like a stone.

-You are sending Sharon back?-You asked annoyed.

-Don't act like you're surprised. That was going to happen you wanting or not.

-Yeah but because of her we were one step ahead from them.

-Risking your lives when I said you shouldn't go?-He said angry.

-Yes. We stopped them.

-Y/N stopped you mean.

You stayed in silence.

-I can't believe you took her in this suicidal mission.-His tone of voice increased.

-She wasn't supposed to come at first--

-But came. And fought with Hydra soldiers. What were you thinking??

-I know, I'm sorry...

-Sorry's not enough Steve!-He lifted his arms angry- What if Hydra captured her? Huh? Have you thought about that? Grabbing and turning her into a weapon? Or just killing her?

-That wouldn't happen-

-Oh yeah? You'd do what? Throw your shield?-He teased- You risked her life. Risked all those people's lives by bringing her there.

-She wouldn't hurt them.

-She's instable, what part of that didn't you understand? She's like a bomb, she might explode any time soon!

-Them tell her the truth!

-YOU KNOW I CAN'T!-He shouted and his voice echoed around.

You just stared furious at each other.

-You might not agree with my methods...-He started- By I'm the one who brought her here. I discovered her.  Don't interfere in this.

-Incredible how you say that, even though you asked me to follow and keep an eye on her, even asked me to date her.-You said ironically.

-I did. And you know what? I don't need to. Just stop.-He said.-I don't want you close to Y/N anymore.

-What?-You gasped.

-I said what I said. Don't talk to her. Or I'll find a way to do that myself. Stay way from Y/N. I mean it.-He didn't hesitate- You're a bad influence.

-You can't be serious-

-I am.-He continued- Why so surprised? Did you get attached? You know she's going to leave soon.

-I already said what I think about this.

-And I gave you my answer. Even though your opinion doesn't matter anymore-He said sharply.- You were warned.

He walked away, stepping hard on the ground angry.

You saw Y/N there, in her green dress, beautifully sad, like a renaissance paint.

Stay away.

You didn't want to do that.

Some part of you needed her there. And she needed you too.

You got closer to talk. Her eyes brightneed a little as she spot ypu coming. Your heart got heavy.

-Y/N-You tried to talk with her, willing to know how she was.

-Don't!-Tony came interrupting-Y/N let's go, I'm driving you home.

-But-- she insisted, glancing quickly in your direction.

-No but. Now.-He ordered.

You nodded indicating that she should go. You didn't want to get into more arguments. She didn't deserve that.

She got up and walked with him, then turned back and stared at you. A pain in your chest appeared for a second as she walked away, entering the car and getting far from your sight until disappear in the horizon.
