after an early sun filled morning, the family of three, soon to be four were finally home and just relaxing. nova's head couldn't stop thinking about the life in her belly, she already made an appointment to make sure she was really pregnant and confirm everything was fine. all the things that had been happening to her for the past few weeks were making so much sense and she felt so stupid for not realizing sooner.

she thought it was crazy how her and max were just talking about growing their family and now it was happening. she wanted to tell him in a special way, it is after all going to be his actual first child and even though she wished max was faiths real dad he wasn't. it would be different for him because he'd be able to be there from the beginning.

it wasn't like she was worried max would treat faith any differently, she was becoming his daughter everyday and he considered faith his already. but this situation wasn't the only thing on her mind. sitting on the couch with faith asleep in her arms her finger hovered over the contact nona had sent her. she wanted to press call, her whole body was telling her to but she just couldn't. talking on the phone wasn't the way to do it, she knew the only way kathy would talk to her was face to face.

max walked into the living room, on the phone. his straight face made her frown. "give me a second dad." he spoke in dutch and nova knew he was talking too. "i need to get out of dinner with him tomorrow." he told her after putting jos on mute. "maybe you should go, so you can tell him about us." nova knew that even thought jos wasn't a good man, max still admired his opinions and cared what he thought. "are you sure? what are you doing tomorrow?" max asked. "i think i'm going to drop faith off with nona and visit my parents." nova told him and he gave her a smile. "i'm glad you're finally doing that." he said sitting next to her. "me too." she replied as he put jos on speaker and unmuted him.

max agreed to go to dinner with his father, max said he'd introduce them before they left and nova was nervous. after all the things max told her about his childhood, she didn't know why he still associated himself with jos. but he was his father and she understood it, she just didn't like it. nova had no idea what her plan was, absolutely no idea. there would be a point in her pregnancy where she couldn't be on an airplane so traveling with max wasn't going to work. she knew max was going to be sad about missing things but she didn't think about that too much, they deal with that when the time came. first she wanted to make sure everything was okay, tell max, then they'd go from there.

the day of meeting jos came and nova was completely overwhelmed. max was freaking out a little too, worried about what his father would say but he couldn't let nova know that. she was already freaking out enough about her parents. "max i think he's here." nova walked out of their bedroom after peeking through the window, just as the doorbell went off. "i'll get it." max jumped off the couch looking towards nova, the obvious look of freight on her face. "just breath my love." he said, she nodded going past him to get faith from her room.

"max !" the dutch man was loud, nova took a deep breath picking faith up off the ground. "ready to meet maxie's daddy?" nova smiled and she nodded dropping her teddy bear on the floor. "i told you on the phone, dad. just be nice please." max said in a harsh whisper. "hello" nova greeted the man fixing nova on her hip, faith must not have liked his demeanor because she was quick to hide her face in nova's neck and start whining. "hello, i'd say nice to meet you but it's not, why didn't you tell me she has a child too? are you going to take in every single mother you find? you know she's just using you like everyone else." his dutch was fast and almost incoherent but somehow nova understood. "i didn't tell you because i knew you'd act like this." max raised his voice making faith start crying. "i'm sorry princess." max sighed rubbing her back and she stopped.

"we're just gonna go max, i love you. i'll see you later." nova gave jos an ugly look before leaning into max, he pecked her lips. "i love you too, im so sorry." max sighed kissing her head letting her go. "don't apologize it's not your fault." nova said grabbing her purse and faiths bag. "i'd say it was nice meeting you but it really wasn't." she repeated in dutch what he had said and his eyes went wide, max let out a stiffled laugh. "bye maxie." faith waved and he smiled at her. "bye love." max opened and closed the door for them.

"why would you do that?" he turned to his father. "why didn't you tell me she spoke dutch?" jos shook his head. "she learned it, for me. she isn't using me, when we got together it was me using her but nova isn't someone you just throw away dad. i love her and i need you to get behind that or..." max shook his head not finishing his sentence, he just grabbed his keys from the hook. "or what max?" jos should've just let it go. "or your done." max opened the door, and just like that jos dropped the conversation.

jos was surprised max would talk to him that way but it made it known that max was serious. dead serious about how he felt, and jos respected that.

on the other hand nova was so pissed off. in the car she was quick to call victoria and tell her what happened and the girl was not surprised. she kept apologizing for her father's behavior and nova kept telling her that wasn't her responsibility. sophie was with vic and that was a whole different conversation. sophie knew something was up when she couldn't see max's instagram posts. she found the articles and said she was just letting max tell her when he was ready. that conversation was way more pleasant and enjoyable for nova.

the woman pulled into nona's drive way, she stared at the house next to it. she hadn't been to nona's since that day. the day she ran across the yards crying to her best friends mother, the woman that helped raise her. nona begged for her to stay with her but justin showed up and she just left, history from there.

"my girl!" nona exclaimed as she walked out of her house. faith ran to her. "i missed you nona." faith hugged her tightly, nova greeted the woman with a hug,. nona let faith run inside and nova was about to walk in but nona stopped her. "you're not coming in." she said and nova sighed. "if you come in you won't go over there. now go." nona pointed making nova look at her childhood home. "i'm terrified." she admitted, nona put her hand in her shoulder. "sweetheart, the worst she can do is send you away." she pulled her into a hug. "hopefully she doesn't." nona chuckled pulling away.

nova walked through the front yard, the same brick stones lining the driveway. the same gnomes her mother had since she was kid. nova sighed stepping onto the porch. her hand hovered over the door bell, she sighed quicky stepping back. "damn it." she rang the bell and she immediately wanted to take it back but she couldn't. a minute later the door was opening and kathy's face went pale, she looked around in disbelief and back at nova. "are you really here?" she gasped putting her hand over her mouth. "hi mom." nova cried, kathy stepped out of the house wrapping her arms around her daughter.
