ย  ย  I ROLLED JJ and I a joint as I sat on his knee on John B's back porch. Pope was sitting next to us on the stool while we shared the armchair, watching me roll the joint as Kie paced. She was making me dizzy with her back and forth movements. I wasn't sure what she was pacing for but I decided not to question her about it, she was probably stressing out about where John B had gotten to. Our friend had been gone for almost an hour and I was getting bored of waiting for him to come back from wherever he'd ran off to.

"So.." I licked the paper to seal the joint and looked at Pope as he cleared his throat. He was looking to JJ and I, his brows creased, "You two?"

"We spoke about this last night?" I responded, taking the lighter from JJ's hand as he held it out for me. My words were more like a question because I wasn't entirely sure why Pope was bringing this up again.

"I know but I'm just a bit confused as to when." He replied.

I puffed on the joint, closing my eyes at the fix of the drug. It was such a satisfying feeling as it hit the back of my throat. I sighed in content as I relaxed, leaning back into JJ as I exhaled the smoke. The smell of weed scattering around us, "Well we kissed after the movie series." JJ told Pope.

Kie looked to me, that night was when she gave me advice on how to approach the JJ situation. She told me to talk about my feeling before I made a move, "Did you guys talk about your feelings?" She asked.

"No." I mumbled sheepishly as JJ took the joint from my hands, "We just kissed."

"Have you talked about your feelings?" She pressed, arching her brow at me as she stopped pacing. I almost felt like I was a child getting scolded by their mother for breaking their favourite vase.

"Yes." I replied.

How much longer was John B going to be?

"So you've only been mackin' for a few days?" Pope asked the both of us.

JJ handed the joint back to me, "Yes, Pope. We've only been mackin' a few days. What's with the twenty twenty questions?"

He shrugged, "I'm just curious I guess." He said to us, "Nothing like this has ever happened before."

The thing with the five of us was that we did take the rule seriously โ€” past tense โ€” and it did stop us from macking on each other before we all lost our self control. Well, JJ, John B and I. So macking on each other and around our friends was new territory for all of us. While JJ and I weren't in relationship we were sort of acting like we were with how open we were being around our friends โ€” that was new, none of us had ever had a significant other and it was weird.

"Well, as my dad told me that rule is pretty shitty." I voiced, "And he never had it and him and his friends didn't have a problem."

JJ wrapped his arm around my stomach, "And it's not like we follow the rules anyways."

Pope nodded, "You guys don't have to explain yourselves to us. We don't mind you're mackin' on each other." He said.

I nodded, looking over to my friend and smiling at him. I was glad my friends weren't mad that we'd broken our number one rule. I took the joint from JJ's fingers, bringing it up to my lips and smoking it again.

"I'm just gonna go to the bathroom." Kie told us.

None of us said anything as she walked into the chateau and JJ and I continued to smoke the joint in silence while Pope just sat and wafted the smoke about. It must of been a couple of minutes before John B's porch door opened and I saw him walk up the few steps, Sarah following him in.

He looked to JJ and I and rose a brow, "Really?" He asked us, "You guys couldn't wait?"

JJ shrugged and took the joint from me, "It was Mal's idea."

I nodded, "I was bored. You took too long dude."

He rolled his eyes and he led Sarah over to the old, shabby sofa, the both of them sitting down in silence. I took the joint from JJ, smoking in the awkward silence. Sarah didn't know where to look, we didn't know where to look. It was weird because I wanted to break the silence, I just wasn't sure what I would say to break it. I didn't really know much about Sarah besides the fact she was dating Topper โ€” or at least I thought she was, maybe not anymore by the look of her and John B.

"Where's Kie?" John B asked, cutting the air as he looked around.

"Bathroom." Pope replied immediately and it wasn't much longer after that did she emerge from the chateau.

She froze at the doorway and her eyes widened while looking at John B and Sarah. I inhaled slowly, dropping my head back against JJ's shoulder as I saw her get angry. This was about to turn into a probably very heated argument and I'd just gotten into a nice and chilled mood. I didn't want it ruining.

Kie shook her head in disbelief, "No effing way." She said annoyed.

"God sake." I muttered, "Not again."

"You brought her here?" Kie carried on snapping in irritation, "So what? She's in on this now?"

John B looked to us for help and I shook my head silently. There was nothing I could say that convince Kie, her hatred for Sarah was just too strong. And besides, I didn't care that Sarah was in on this now. If getting the gold meant she had to join us then okay, I wasn't bothered.

"I dunno." Pope shrugged, at as much as a loss for words as I was. He didn't know how to offer his aid in calming Kiara down or reasoning with her either.

"Look." JJ said, wrapping his arm around me, "All I care about is her cut comes out of your share." He said to John B.

Yeah, that seemed fair to me.

"You know, I don't remember taking a vote." Kie snapped, "This is our thing. A Pogue thing."

"Who cares." I groaned, "If Sarah hadn't swiped the map or taken JB to the archives we wouldn't of found out the gold was still on the island."

"Thank you." John B agreed with me.

Kie shot me a disbelieving look, almost as if I was betraying her or something, as she crossed her arms. I simply shrugged in response and she scoffed bitterly, clearly sour I wasn't taking her side like I hadn't last night. I didn't care, my opinion was mine and I wasn't going to be that girl who took their friends side because she said they did something to her. It wasn't a justified reason for me to not like Sarah and unless she proved herself to be untrustworthy or horrible I'd carry on, not having a problem with her.

"I gotta say, I'm just a tad uncomfortable with all of this." Pope confined.

"Thank you." Kie pointed in his direction.

"When are you not uncomfortable?" John B asked, arching his brow.

"I dunno. I rode here on the back of JJ's bike pretty comfortably." Pope responded.

"That's true." JJ nodded, "Most relaxed I've ever seen him."

"That's cute, guys." John B muttered sarcastically as he sat on the arm of the old sofa.

I feigned a gasp as I looked at Pope, "You said I was a better driver than JJ."

"I was saying that to make you feel better." He replied to me, "You're a really bad driver, Mally."

I shook my head, "I don't know how you dare." I said to him, "I'm never picking you up after work ever again, from now on you can walk Heyward."

"You know we were all extremely comfortable until you brought her." Kie snapped, her loud tone of voice booming over Pope and I's conversation.

"Stop talking about me like I'm not here." Sarah finally spoke up. I had to give it to her, sitting back and letting Kie throw out what she was about her. I wouldn't of been able to have held my tongue for as long as what Sarah did.

"Then leave." Kie snapped.

"When are you going to realise we couldn't of gotten this far without Sarah?!" I asked Kie.

Kie turned to me, "Why are you so defensive of her?"

I sat forwards in mine and JJ's shared chair, "I'm not, I'm just saying I don't think there's a problem with her being here."

Sarah scoffed, breaking up Kie and I's argument. I turned to see her looking at John B, "I told you."

"Told him what exactly?" Kie fired, "That you're a liar?"

"No, that you're a shit-talking bitch." Sarah insulted.

Pope 'oooo'd and he grabbed on to JJ's arm in excitement as I watched the two argue.

"Oh yeah?" Kie argued.

"When have I lied?" Sarah asked.

"My money's on Kie." JJ betted and I took the ten dollar bill from his hand and the money that Pope pulled out as well, putting it down my bikini top.ย

"You get somebody close to youโ€”"

"Hey, what the hell?" Pope asked me quietly, trying not to interrupt their argument.

"Shut up." I scolded, "You're not placing bets on this."

"โ€”I didn't lie about shitโ€”" Sarah yelled.

JJ reached for my top and I slapped his hand away, "You dareโ€”"

"โ€”Everybody shut up!" John B shouted over us all and we fell silent, "Kie, you're my best friend, right?" She stayed silent, "And Sarah, you're... you're myโ€”"

She smiled at him gently and coaxed him, "Say it."

John B smiled at her, "You're my girlfriend."

"Oh.. that's new." Pope muttered.

"That's adorable." I mumbled before I turned back to JJ, "And that's how you do it."

I turned away from him before he could reply and Kie wound up even more, "She's your girlfriend now? What was all that talk about you were just using her for information?" She asked.

"Clearly bullshit." I told her, "Because you were hammering him to promise you nothing was going on."

"Why are you so defensive of him?" Kie snapped at me, "Ever since the two of you got into bed together you've done nothing but agree, agree, agree."

I stood up angrily and stepped towards her, "You know Kiara, that's a low fucking blow." I seethed, "You know fine well โ€” better than any of the boys โ€” how much I regretted doing that."

"Whatever, we know it's true." She rolled her eyes and when I lunged forwards to her JJ wrapped his arms around me, picking me up off the floor and carrying me away from her.

I couldn't believe she'd throw that in my face like that, especially after everything I'd confined in her about. She knew, she knew better than anybody else how much I wish I could've reversed time and not had sex with John B. I thought she knew how much I regretted it but either she didn't care or she wasn't bothered about me or my feelings.

"J get off me." I pulled at his arms and he put me down next to the arm chair, pressing my back up against the screen.

"You don't wanna start a fight." He reasoned with me.

I looked at Kie over his shoulder, "Well she shouldn't be such a bitch about it!" I yelled, "Especially when she knows how I feel about it. Is that how friends are supposed to act?"

I was actually furious with Kie.

"It doesn't matter!" Kie shouted, "It doesn't change the fact that John B said he was using her to get the map."

"You said you were using me?" Sarah turned to John B.

JJ wrapped his arms around my stomach, holding me tightly against his chest and I wrapped my arms across his. I wasn't sure if he was holding me so tightly incase I lunged for Kie again or not but I didn't mind, he helped me to calm down.

"No." John B muttered.

"You said those things." Pope butted in.

"Look." He snapped, "Love just walked in, okay? I didn't expect it. It justโ€” it kind of happened.. look, you two know what I'm talking about, all right?"

Our friend pointed to JJ and I and I nodded slowly as he pressed his cheek against my head, "Yeah." JJ muttered, "Yeah, I know what you're talking about. We didn't really expect it either." He told John B, pressing a kiss to my head.

"Thank you." John B nodded and he looked to Sarah again, "Look, I'm not going to deny it."

"Oh that's corny." Pope muttered, "This is all so corny."

"Look, cut the bullshit, John B." Kie said, "If she's in, I'm out."

I widened my eyes at her ultimatum, by no means was that fair. I'd never do that to either of my friends, wether I liked the person or not it just wasn't on.

"Kie, I'm not doing this. I can't." John B replied.

"You are gonna decide!" She yelled.

"He doesn't have to and he shouldn't have to." I butted in. I didn't shout, I kept my tone normal.

"I'm very interested actually." Kie pressed, "Me or her?"

"Both." John B shrugged.

"Ooh." Pope muttered.

JJ whistled lowly behind me, "Went for the Hail Mary."

"Shhh." I mumbled and we watched as Kie stormed away.

"It'll be cool, right?" Sarah asked, turning to John B, "I'm gonna leave."

"Sarah, don't." John B muttered.

She got up anyways and walked round the the front porch, "Gonna let y'all chat. Let me know."

She left the four of us in silence and John B leaned his head against the outside of his house, "I'd just like to say, you handled that beautifully." JJ told our friend. I rolled my eyes, walking out of JJ's arms and to John B's back door, "Hey, where're you goin'?" JJ called to me.

"To find a drink." I told them bluntly, "It's been a long day."

โ€ข โ€ข โ€ข

Maybe I'd found one too many drinks because I'd collapsed on John B's hammock and the world was spinning. It was getting late and the sun was nearing the horizon, the breeze starting to roll in for the night. I rocked on the hammock, just sat thinking away to myself when I heard leaves and sticks crunching by my head.

"Mally, you all right?" Pope asked me and I twisted my head to see him.

"I'm out of beer." I frowned, pouting at my friend as I lifted up the bottle and looked through it. I looked back to Pope, "I need another."

He cringed and he walked over to me, "You know, I don't think you do."

"I do, Pope, I really do." I muttered through a sigh.

He sat on the edge of the hammock and looked down at me, "What's goin' on with you?" He asked, "You've been off for a few days now."

I shrugged, "I guess this whole Royal Merchant shit is messing with my head." I told him. It was definitely messing with my friendships, that was for sure.

"Are you sure that's it?" Pope arched a brow, "Nothing else going on?"

"I dunno Pope." I groaned, rubbing my hand over my face, "I don't feel myself."

He nodded, "How'd you mean?"

"Since I fell of your old mans boat." I replied, "I've been having these weird dizzy spells, crazy dreams. Hell, the other night a got a full night's sleep."

"Really?" He seemed shocked, "That should be a good thing."

"I know but when I woke up I felt even more exhausted." I told him, "I think I've learned to function on only a few hours of sleep."

He exhaled loudly through his nose and took the bottle of beer out of my hand, "Mal, I don't think drinking is the answer to solving your problems."

"No but it's a temporary solution." I mumbled, "Helps me to forget about them for a bit."

He stood up and I heard the empty bottles I'd left under the hammock clatter to the ground. Pope looked down at them and frowned before looking back up at me, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me up, "All right, c'mon."

"Where we going?" I mumbled, standing on my feet as he pulled my arm over his shoulders.

"I'm taking you back up to JB's."

I looked at him, "For another beer?"

He pressed his lips together as we walked up the stairs, "I don't think you need another beer."

"That's funny 'cause I think I do." I replied, kicking John B's door open with my foot. Pope let me walk in first and he followed me as I walked into the kitchen, John B and JJ staring at me. I headed for the fridge and grabbed two bottles, tucking one under my arm as my friends started conversing. I wasn't sure why we were putting stuff in the fridge, we were still without power so it wasn't as if it was keeping anything cool.

I stood up and closed the fridge door, pulling my keys out of my back pocket and fishing for the bottle opener. It probably wasn't a good look for a sixteen year old to have a bottle opener on my key chain given I was five years off the legal drinking age but I didn't care. There had been plenty of times where my handy little keychain bottle opener JJ had stolen for me from a souvenir shop had come in handy.

I took the lid off the beer and tossed it on the side by JJ tiredly, aiming for the sink but I think I might've thrown it at him instead. With my drunken vision and tired eyes my aim was pretty off. I took a gulp of the beer, stumbling back into the fridge as I did so.

"Mal?"

I looked at John B after he said my name and arched a brow, "What?"

He frowned, "I, uh, I asked you a questionโ€” are you all right?"

"Peachy, JB." I replied sarcastically, walking back to his door, "What did you ask me?"

"You you'd chose out of Sarah and Kie." He replied quickly before hopping off the counter. He didn't seem interested in who I'd pick anymore, he was pre-occupied in finding out if it was all right, "Are you sure you're okay?"

I shrugged, stumbling into the door, "At the minute I think I'd chose Sarah." I muttered, ignoring his concern for me. I was all right, just sick and tired of the hostility and arguing, "She's being nicer to me then Kie."

"Sarah hasn't spoken to you." Pope told me while frowning in confusion.

I pointed my beer at him, "Exactly."

I reached for the door handle but I tripped, stumbling to the side and falling to the floor but I was caught before I could hit the deck. I looked up, my beer in my hand and the other still tucked under my arm, and saw JJ holding me inches from the floor. I smiled and tapped his nose, "Thank you."

He rose his brows at me and stood up, bringing me up with him and I turned to my friends, "I'll be on the hammock if anyone needs me."

"Don't fall on the way out!" He called after me.

โ€ข โ€ข โ€ข

I guess I passed out on the hammock last night because I woke up in the room JJ claimed in John B's house with a rippling headache. I groaned softly, turning my head away from the window and towards the darker side of the room but I found the space in the double bed next to me empty. I frowned in confusion, JJ and I had shared a bed before so surely he wouldn't of slept on the futon?

I begrudgingly got up, dragging my hands over my throbbing head as I got to my feet. I stumbled tiredly into the living room and peeled one eye open to see him sitting on the kitchen bench with John B stood opposite him.

"Mornin' sleeping beauty." JJ grinned at me.

I groaned, rubbing my face tiredly. I hadn't felt this rough in a long time, "What's going on?" I mumbled, walking out of the doorway and grabbing a pair of sunglasses to put on. My eyes were not ready for the light yet.

"Well you passed out on my hammock last night after nine beers and a joint." John B told me, "JJ had to carry you inside and put you to bed."

I looked at him and smiled sheepishly, "Thank you."

He nodded and I walked over to press a kiss to his cheek, "Just don't make a habit out of it."

"Rodger that, Captain." I nodded.

"So we're gonna head out to the marsh today." John B told me, "Try catch some fish if you wanna come."

I looked between them, "Just you two?"

JJ nodded, "Pope said he didn't want to come and Kie's ignoring us, so.."

"So it just leaves us three." John B shrugged, "But you don't have to come if you don't want to."

"No, I'll come." I decided. A day out on the marsh with John B and JJ didn't sound too bad. It'd be a nice break away from trying to suss out a plan to find the gold and I felt like having a lazy day sunbathing, "I'll just head over to my place and get changed."

John B nodded, "Meet at the dock in fifteen?"

"Yeah sounds good." I nodded, "See you then."

I walked out of John B's chateau and crossed the grass over to my house and walked inside, my dad was in the kitchen and he looked up when he saw me come in, "Hey, I haven't seen you in a while."

I nodded, "Yeah, I passed out on John B's sofa yesterday." I told him, "I was pretty zonked."

He nodded in understanding, "How was Midsummers?"

I saw the way his brow arched in amusement and he gave me that look that he knew exactly what happened, my bet was he'd been on the phone to my mom somehow or she'd paid him a visit on the docks again.

"You already know what happened." I told him with an eye roll.

"I know." He nodded, a smug grin on his face, "I thought I'd get an earful from your mother but she didn't seem bothered."

I shook my head, "Nah, she was surprisingly chill about it."

"She was asking me about JJ." He said and I froze some what.

I furrowed my brows, "What about him?"

"She thinks the both of you are together. Now it wouldn't surprise me but I just have to ask."

This was why I loved my dad. He supported me and my decisions, he accepted my friends.

"We're definitely something more than friends." I told him, "But I'm not sure about being together."

He nodded, smiling at me, "Well I guess I'll have to have a chat with him next time I see him." I smiled through my fear and nodded but he just laughed, "I'm only kidding Mal, you should've seen the look on your face."

My shoulders relaxed and I sighed in relief, "God dad." I muttered, "I need to jump in the shower quick, I'm gonna go fishing with John B and JJ for the day."

"You got it kid, if you catch anything bring it back." He replied, "See you later."

I nodded and walked into my room, freshening up quickly and changing into a red bikini set and some high rise denim shorts. I threw one of JJ's long sleeved shirts into my bag just incase we stopped out on the marsh late and it got chilly and a couple other bits I needed.

I grabbed the red and white cap he loved off my dresser and put it on, pulling my hair through the gap in the back and twisting it into a low bun. My baby hairs hung by my face but I didn't mind. I slipped into my converse and ran over to the dock, JJ and John B already waiting in a bigger boat than usual โ€” I realised it was Heywards boat.

I looked over to the Pogue and pointed at it, jumping on to the boat, "What's up with the Pogue?" I asked them both.

John B shrugged, "I just thought we'd take this one today, it's bigger."

"All right." I said skeptically and dropped my bag to the floor, lying by the bow. Today was dedicated to tanning, it was the perfect weather for it.

John B set sail and we steered through the marsh land, staying close to the docks until we stopped. I pulled my sunglasses off and put them above the rim of JJ's cap, looking to where we'd stopped but we hadn't gotten far at all.

We were actually at the private dock the Cameron's owned.

I frowned seeing Sarah walk down and looked at John B and JJ to see them smiling. I guess I could say I was a little bit disappointed, I thought the day would just be us three but I didn't mind Sarah tagging along. It was only fair so John B wasn't a third wheel and at least it would give me an opportunity to bond with the girl.

John B helped her on to the boat and I smiled at her, "Hi."

She gave me a small smile, "Hey."

"We shouldn't be too long." John B told us, "We just have to find a good spot."

I scooted along on the space I'd claimed as mine for Sarah to sit down as she walked over to me and John B pulled away from the dock, picking up the speed as he ventured out into the marsh.

"Is this seat taken?" Sarah asked me.

I shook my head, crossing one leg under my other and leaving the other to hang, "All yours."

"Thanks." She replied, "I wasn't sure wether you were going to argue with me for invading your group."

"Nah, I'm not bothered." I told her honestly, "We wouldn't of found the gold if it wasn't for you."

She nodded, "You know I never knew what to make of you Mally." She told me and I turned to her for her to continue, "I mean you chose to leave Figure Eight behind to have a different life, which makes me totally jealous of you by the way, but whenever I used to see you around you, uh.."

"Had a bit of a resting bitch face?" I suggested.

She smiled at me, "Yeah, like at the keggers. I could never tell if you looked like a bit of a bitch or if it was just your natural face... no offence by the way."

I chuckled and looked out to the marsh, "None taken." I told her, "I'm often reminded by those two idiots over there that I have a resting bitch face. It seems to get me into a bit of trouble sometimes."

I had to admit how easy it was to uphold a conversation with Sarah Cameron and it made me question what she'd ever done to Kiara to make her resent her so badly. She didn't seem to have a bad bone in her body, she seemed a bit.. innocent? I'm not sure if that's the word I was looking for.

I think my group of friends and me included viewed her as this spoilt girl just because she was from Figure Eight but I saw now how massively misunderstood she was. She was just like me โ€” well not just like me but she and I were similar people.

She went to respond to me but the boat's engine cut out and we quickly fell to a stop in the middle of the marsh. There was nothing around us either, we looked quite far out.

I looked at John B and JJ and furrowed my brows, "What's going on?"

John B groaned, "The engines dead."

"What do you mean it's dead?" Sarah asked.

"It just cut out." He shrugged.

I got up and walked over to JJ and John B and looked at the controls but before I could get a good look JJ grabbed my hand and pulled me out on to the deck, "Why don't you go down below to see if you can see what's going on?"

"Why can't you?" I asked him with an arched brow as he opened the under deck.

"I'm gonna check the plugs." He told me, "Come on, you know what you're doing."

I rolled my eyes and jumped down, "All right, fine."

"Hey, Sarah you wanna give her a hand?" John B asked.

"Uh, I don't really know what I'm doing." She shrugged.

"You could hold a flashlight for me?" I asked her, "It's pretty dark down here."

"Yeah, okay." She nodded. Sarah jumped down and clicked on the flashlight as I tried to find the control panel but the further I looked the more suspicious I became.

"Wait a minute." I muttered to myself as we looked around. This was Heyward's boat, the control panel was under the cabin. Why would JJ ask me to look down here, he knew that it wasn't here right?

I walked back towards the open doors to the deck, "JJ there isn't anyโ€”" I was interrupted when the doors were closed and Sarah and I were trapped in the darkness.

"What the hell?" She asked as we ran over to the exit where we'd been closed in.

I banged on the top, "JJ, what the fuck?"

"Payback, Mal!" I heard him shout, "Told 'ya I'd get you back."

"JJ you open this door right now or I swear to Godโ€”"

"โ€”Sorry Mal, no can do!" John B chimed.

"What are you guys doing?" Sarah yelled, "John B let us out."

I shook my head in annoyance, "I knew they were planning something the little shits." I swore as Sarah continued to bang.

We must've been shouting them for five minutes at least because when the doors opened again Kiara was standing over us in confusion, "What?" Sarah snapped.

I rolled my eyes, getting out of the cargo hold quickly as Sarah followed me, "What the hell! Guys!" Kie shouted.

I ran to the edge of the boat and I saw Pope, John B and JJ aboard the Pogue, "What the fuck do you guys think you're doing?!" I shouted at them.

"Are you serious!" Kie yelled.

"You're joking!"

"Get your asses back here!"

"We can't!" John B yelled over at us, "Not until you three figure it out."

"I will castrate all of you if you don't bring that boat over here, so help me God!" I shouted in anger, "I've got nothing to do with their pathetic little feud!"

"Uh, it is not pathetic!" Kie argued with me.

I turned to her, "It is because you're holding a grudge for nothing Kie! You're making it difficult!"

"See!" JJ yelled, "There's your problem, right there!"

I narrowed my eyes at him, "You get your ass back here Maybank, you hear me?" I shouted.

"You can't just leave!" Sarah yelled.

"There's food in the cabin and JJ rolled a blunt!" Pope yelled over to us.

I scoffed before I found myself shouting, "What just the one?"

He grinned at me, "I rolled an extra just for you darlin' it's hydroponic!"

"I don't give a shit if it's hydroponic, JJ!" I shouted, "Me and you are going to fall out if you don't get back here!"

"This is ridiculous." Sarah grumbled angrily, stripping down to her bikini.

"Well, I'd rather drown than be stuck here with you so.." Kie bit.

"Fine, be my guest." Sarah retorted, "Maybe you'll finally shut the hell up."

"Holy shit I can't believe I'm stuck in the middle of this." I muttered to myself, walking away from the both of them.

"You don't even know where you're going." Kie argued.

"I don't care." Sarah replied and she climbed on to the edge of the boat, "Good luck with the oyster beds."

The engine to the Pogue turned over and roared to life as Sarah jumped in and the three of them drove off as Sarah tried to swim after them, "Wait, John B you asshole!"

"They're not coming back for you!" Kie told her.

"Love you guys!" John B shouted, "Bye!"

I cupped my hands over my mouth, "Fuck you, Routledge!"

"Great." Kie muttered and I groaned loudly in annoyance.

Sarah started squealing in the water and I turned to watch her as she splashed about, "What?"

"I got stung by a jellyfish!" She cried, "Shit!"

"Dramatic." Kie rolled her eyes.

I shook my head, "Is it though?" I asked her.

I heard Sarah get out of the water as she panted in pain, "Shit."

"Well, you swam right into a man-o'-war. I don't know what you thought would happen." Kie told her unimpressed.

"Thank you for you help." Sarah grumbled sarcastically as she climbed onboard and collapsed against the deck, leaning against the boat, "Shit."

I seethed when I saw the side of her stomach. I'd had my fair share of jellyfish stings in my life but that looked nasty.

"Does it hurt?" Kie asked unsympathetically.

"Hey, you know what they say about curing jellyfish stings?" Sarah asked.

"No, mm-mm." Kie disagreed.
