ย  ย ย  "HEY MAL?" JJ asked me quietly. I turned my head to the left to face the boy sat next to me and I raised a brow in response, "You still mad at me?" He asked me hesitantly.

I furrowed my brows, "Since when was I mad at you?" I replied.

Since we'd gotten back to the chateau this morning JJ had been walking around with a pout on his face. He thought I was still mad at him for locking me in the cargo hold but I wasn't. I was over that, and I had been last night. I pushed him in the marsh for payback even though he locked me in the cargo hold to get even for scaring him at the Crain house.

"You-you're not mad at me?" He asked me, his face twisted in confusion.

"No." I shook my head, "Course not."

He was beyond confused, "Are you sure?"ย

"If I was mad at you would I do this?" I asked him and I leaned forwards and pressed my lips against his gently. It was only a short peck and I pulled away before he had the chance to respond to me.

I watched as JJ opened his eyes slowly, fluttering, and rose a brow at me in response. He smiled lightly at me, leaning in and closing the distance to kiss me again but Pope cleared his throat loudly across the van.

JJ groaned in annoyance and the both of us turned to see Pope looking at us. He was sitting opposite us in the van and he narrowed his eyes a little, "Let's keep the signal clear." He said.

"Yeah, you guys can have sex when we're rich." John B butted in, "For now we've got a job to do."

Begrudgingly I crawled away from JJ, heading backwards and sitting down again next to Sarah in the back of the VW. Our friends were looking at us after our most recent public display of affection but it didn't bother me.

But, John B and Pope were right. We had to keep the signal clear, the six of us were five minutes away from breaking into an elderly axe murderers basement and going however many hundred feet down a well to find four hundred million dollars worth of gold. I'd by lying if I said I wasn't excited, it sounded weird โ€” that I was excited to literally break into someone's house but this was actual gold we were talking about. The gold of the Royal Merchant, gold people on this island had been looking for for years.

"All right." I nodded, agreeing with my friends.

"Great, much appreciated." John B nodded somewhat sarcastically, "Can we go over the checklist?"

"Again?" Kie asked, "We double checked before we left your place."

"I know but I just wanna be sure." John B defended, "All right? So let's triple check."

"Go for it, JB." I ushered my friend.

"You guys got rope?" He began.

"Got it." Pope nodded and I turned to see JJ sat with it on his legs.

"Grappling hook?" John B asked.

"We don't have a grappling hook." Pope replied while shaking his head, "We're not batman."

"He wishes." I muttered.

"What was that, Mally?" John B called back with a smug grin.

I sat forwards and leaned slightly over Sarah, "I said he wishes!" I repeated louder.

"Yes, Mal, I do wish I was batman." John B replied.

"Doesn't everyone wish they were batman?" JJ asked, furrowing his brows.

"No?" Kie shook her head.

Sarah added, "I don't."

"We're getting off track." John B roped us all back in, "You got the pully?"

I picked up the contraption laid next to me on the seat and tossed it into the bag, "Check."

"Dark clothes?"

I looked down to my high waisted black denim shorts, one of JJ's long sleeved T-shirts tucked into them. I nodded, although John B couldn't see me and I put my hand on to the top of my head to pull the bandana I was wearing forwards.

Sarah nodded, "Check."

"Flashlights?" He asked, pulling the van to a stop.

"Got it."

"All right." John B turned back to us, "We're ready."

"Let's go." Kie grinned.

JJ grinned as John B got out and walked round the side of the van, "Let's go get rich, guys."

"Hell yeah." Kie agreed.

I rubbed my hands together in excitement, "Make me a millionaire."

John B opened the side door, "Let's roll." Pope muttered, readying himself to get out.

"Yeah." Sarah chimed in excitement as we moved to get out the van all at once.

"Wait-wait." John B stopped us and we halted while looking to him as he stood outside, "I wanna say thank you, guys. Seriously. It means a lot to me that you're here tonight."

"Always." Kie nodded.

Pope looked to John B and they did their handshake, "Of course, man."

"My man." John B smiled.

"All right y'all carry on and JJ's gonna start crying." I said, throwing my arm over his shoulder.

"I don't cry." He scoffed, looking to me.

I shook my head, "But in all honestly, JB, I wouldn't be anywhere else."

He nodded at me once, a small smile on his face. I'd never been more grateful for mine and John B's friendship. I was scared we'd lost what we had but if anything our relationship had only gotten stronger. He genuinely was like a brother to me.

"All right, we done with this circle jerk?" JJ asked, holding to the rope as it rested on his shoulder, "Can we go do this?"

"Hell yeah." I nodded.

Pope climbed out the van, "Let's go get that wheat in the water."

"Weed?" JJ asked, taking my hand as we climbed out the van, "I'm up for weed."

"Wheat." Pope corrected, "I said wheat."

"We can have a joint when we've got the gold." I told JJ, squeezing his hand before letting go as I jumped out.

"Now that's my type of girl." He said after me and I passed John B and Pope, following Kie and Sarah as they climbed over the wall onto the Crain property.

We jumped over and I rolled the sleeves of my black jumper up as we walked through the trees surrounding the house, "So Sarah how does it feel to be committing your first proper felony?"

She grinned back at me as we walked towards the side of the house where the entrance to the basement was, "Feels like gold."

"You found yourself a keeper, John." I taunted our friend, clapping his shoulder as we came to a stop outside the house. He turned to me with a smile and it made my heart warm, he was absolutely smitten with Sarah โ€” wether he admitted it or not.

All of a sudden a light turned on, flickering right on us and we gasped, ducking for cover, "Shit!"

"Oh, shit!" John B swore, grabbing my elbow and pulling me towards the ground for cover behind a big bush.

"Flashlights." Kie instructed, whisper shouting to us in a panic.

I bent down next to JJ as his light flashed wildly, "JJ!" I snapped quietly, my heart hammering in my chest from the shock.

"It's on strobe!" He replied, hitting it to get it off.

"Shh!" John B held a finger to his lips and as my friends panted I sensed the start of an adrenaline rush as my legs started to tingle.

I took the light from JJ hands as he continued to mess on with it, trying to turn it off, and clicked the button twice with a sigh. Once I got it off I passed it back to him slowly, "Thanks." He muttered.

"Okay, so she has motion sensor lights." Pope breathed, his eyes wide.

The first fault in our plan.

"We could, uh, move really slow maybe?" JJ suggested.

"What?" Sarah asked.

I looked sideways to him and shook my head. I really wanted to facepalm right now, "That's not how it works."

"Oh, shit! Let's throw a rock at it." John B suggested.

This time I did facepalm.

I'm going to die tonight.

"What?" Pope asked incredulously, his voice a higher pitch than a girl screaming.

"That's a really good idea actually, let the axe murderer know that we're here." Kie deadpanned sarcastically.

I pressed my temples to my head, "God I'm friends with idiots."

"Throw a rock at it?" Pope repeated in disbelief.

John B looked to us all, "You guys have a better idea?"

"Literally anything but that." Kie replied.

"What about the breaker?" Sarah suggested and we turned to her, "In the circuit box on the porch. We used to play hide-and-seek here as kids and if we were brave enough we'd go all the way up to the porch... I've seen it."

"No, no." John B shook his head, "You're not going in that house alone."

"Watch me." Sarah bit back.

JJ looked at her incredulously, "Crain chops people into pieces."

"If you believe that but she's like, what, 85?" Sarah asked.

"I'll go with you." I told her, looking at her as I crouched on the floor.

"Yeah, I-I don't like the sound of that." JJ said and he turned to me.

"Oh, c'mon." I looked at him, "The woman's barely still kicking.. and besides, I'm not scared of her."

"You're not scared of anything." Pope said to me.

I shrugged, proving my point.

"Here, if it makes you guys feel any better I'll go with them." Kie opted, "Clearly you're just a bunch of pussys."

"Right." I agreed with a nod.

JJ shook his head, "We're notโ€”"

I looked at him and rose my brow. Whatever he said I knew it was a lie, he was shit scared of Mrs. Crain and this house. He didn't finish his sentence, instead he just pressed his lips together.

"C'mon, let's go." Sarah said to Kie and I.

I nodded and looked to John B, "We'll meet you in the basement."

"Yeah, okay." He nodded.

I straightened my knees to stand up but JJ caught my hand and tugged me back down. I met his eyes, facing an unfamiliar emotion but I could pinpoint it quickly โ€” worry, "Be careful, all right?" He said to me quietly, "I mean it."

I nodded with a small smile and bent down to press my lips to his. I gave him a quick kiss before standing up again and ruffling his messy hair and creeping over to Kie who was waiting.

"We'll wait for your signal." Pope told us.

"Hey, be safe." John B said to us but I could tell he was referring more to Sarah. Of course he would want Kie and I to be careful but he had different feelings for the newest addition to our crew.

"We will." Sarah replied, a hint of a smile on her face and we slowly crept away from them.

The three of us stayed quite close to the ground until we got into the bushes opposite the ones JJ, John B and Pope were hiding behind and we straightened, walking into the dense trees surrounding the Crain house.

"All right, lead the way Sarah." I muttered quietly.

Kie and I followed her to the circuit box, ironically right on the front porch, and we tried to be as quiet as we could but twigs snapped under our feet.

I could feel my shorts riding up my legs as I crept forwards but I ignored them, holding the flashlight in front of me and lighting the path.

"She must have a generator plugged into the main power supply." Sarah muttered to us.

"I'm surprised she knows what a generator is." I whispered back as we tiptoed up the porch steps carefully.

We reached the top of the porch and my eyes landed on the circuit box as Kie opened it. It was only a small box but coincidentally didn't have what we were looking for inside of it.

"Shit." I muttered.

"Where are the breakers?" Sarah asked us.

Kie frowned at the box as I held my light up to it, "What is this?"

"No, no, no, no, no." Sarah mumbled in disbelief.

I reached out and grazed my fingers across the pipe coming out of the box and I traced it upwards, as far as my hand could reach and with it I followed the pipe with the flashlight until it disappeared inside the house.

I looked between my two accomplices, "It goes inside the house."

"Are you kidding me?" Kie asked.

I shook my head and Sarah exhaled quietly, "Oh shit."

I reached for the white rusted gate that protected the front door and I opened it slowly, cringing as it squeaked and I reached for the door handle. I wrapped my hand around the cold brass and twisted left until I heard a click and slowly I pushed the door open. Why this woman hadn't locked her doors I didn't know.

I turned back to see Sarah and Kie, "You guys stay out here, I'll go in and switch it off."

"No we're gonna come with you." Kie whispered back.

"Are you sure?" I asked and I looked to Sarah for confirmation.

She nodded at me, "Of course, c'mon."

I pushed the door the full way open and gestured inside, "Let's go then."

I led the way inside, holding my flashlight against my chest as I looked around the dark house. It looked like an ordinary Kook house, I wasn't sure what I was expecting. A murder house maybe?

I shuddered, the chill running all the way down my spine.

I wasn't scared but I was definitely on edge and the adrenaline rush I was on the peak of wasn't helping me. I could hear my inclining heart beat echoing in my ears.

Sarah and Kie followed me inside slowly and we ventured further into the house. I kept my light above me as I followed the pipe through the attached to the high ceilings and when a cat yowled from besides me I stepped to the side on instinct while jumping. Sarah and Kie pointed their lights to the floor and looked around as glass tinkled together, it sounded like a charm or something. My heart was increasing in speed and I was started to get hot, I could feel my body temperature rising.

"Hey." I said, pointing up to the pipe that continued on into another room.

"Yeah, yeah." Sarah whispered, "Keep going."

We kept tiptoeing through the old house, it looked like it hadn't been renovated since the early eighties at least and it wasn't a good look. I followed the pipe into another room and turned to see the circuit box on the wall. I exhaled softly and looked at Sarah and Kie as I stood on one side of it.

Sarah grew a relieved smile, "All right, we made it."

"Point the light on it." I whispered as I slid my flashlight into my back pocket and put my hand on the switch, "Okay, ready?"

They both nodded at me and I flicked the switch. It was quite hard to flick and it made a loud noise that caused me to cringe and I reached for the second switch underneath it. I had the same struggle but eventually I managed to turn it off and the power turned down.

"All right." I nodded with a sigh of relief as I looked at them both, "Let's get down to the basement."

Sarah smiled, "Don't have toโ€”"

Something started whirring, like an old clock somewhere and before we knew it we heard the chimes of a grandfather clock echoing around us.

"Fuck, fuck." I muttered and the three of us pressed our backs into the wall.

Sarah gasped from besides me as I stood between her and Kie and we could only listen as the clock continued to chime. It stopped after I counted the twelfth chime โ€” midnight โ€” and I sighed as it left a soft echo through the house.

"Do you think it's done?" Kie whispered to us both anxiously.

I nodded, my head rubbing against the wall I was leaning against and I turned to her, "It'll only chime twelve times.. midnight." I explained.

"Cool." Sarah mumbled, "Now weโ€”"

I heard shuffling from somewhere in the house and my ears perked. I shushed Sarah quietly, listening for it again and checking if I was just imagining it but I heard the sound a second time and following it, a loud thumping sound.

It continued and neither of the three of us dared to move an inch sideways. Instead we just listened until the sound of heavy footsteps accompanied the thumping.

"Shit." Sarah cursed.

Looks like we woke Crain.

"We need to get out of here." I told both girls, "Right now, if she sees us we're busted."

The last thing I wanted was to get nicked by Shoupe for breaking and entering when my mom was taking JJ's case.

"I agree." Kie nodded, "But which way?"

"Back where we came." I whispered quickly and quietly as the thumping got louder and closer, "It's a straight run."

"It'sโ€” it's late, Leon."

Oh my, god.

I pressed myself against the wall, wishing for it to swallow me up hole for protection as the old voice reverberated through the property. For an oldie, Crain could definitely move faster than what I'd anticipated.

"Too late." She muttered again, coughing. Her voice was raspy, like she'd been smoking thirty a day for decades and I could hear her chest crackling. She wheezed for breath.

I looked at Kie to see her holding her hand over her mouth anxiously and I looked passed her to the open doorframe we'd just come through.

Did we risk making a run for it now?

I didn't know where about in the house Crain was. She could've been by the front door we were planning our escape through, she could be on on the other side of the house โ€” no where near us. I just didn't know but what I did know was that we couldn't wait here forever.

And then, just when I was about to make a run for it and force Sarah and Kie with me Sarah grabbed my arm and she pulled me back quickly. I slotted into gap between them both as Kie grabbed my hand, squeezing it impossibly tight. I didn't know why Sarah had pulled me back until I saw Crain walk right passed us.

My heart was beating so fast I wouldn't of been surprised if Kie and Sarah could hear it slamming into my chest. My mouth was wide in shock. I thought that was it, that it was over for us and the jigg was up. Hell the thought that she was going to cut our heads off even popped into my mind but I saw a glossy white gaze over her eyes.

She's blind.

"I can hear you, Leon." Crain croaked as she walked by us, "I've been waiting all night!"

She turned to face us and I didn't hesitate this time, I grabbed Sarah's hand and kept my hold on Kie's and I dragged them forwards as my friends screeched in terror. I pushed both of them in front of me as Kie whimpered in fear, "Go! Go!" Sarah yelled.

"Gun it!"

We ran through the house quickly, winding in and out of rooms and I followed them both into what looked like a study and I saw Kie go into the door on our right and I followed her in.

"Where are you, Leon!" Crain screamed, shouting like a deranged woman.

"This bitch is possessed." I said quickly as I followed Kie. She ran to the next door but it was boarded up.

"Mal, help me it's boarded up!" Kie rushed out, looking at me desperately as she fiddled with the chain on the door.

"Fuck." I mumbled, pulling at the wood drilled into the door but it wouldn't budge.

I felt like I was hiding from them square groupers all over again expect this time I was running from an elderly axe murderer.

"Mal, mal." Kie rushed quietly and I turned to see Crain stood in front of us, a long sharp fire poker in her hands.

She started swinging about with it blindly while aiming for anything. She knocked vases to the ground, books off shelves and when I tried to dash forwards to grab the poker out of her hands she swung towards us.

I ducked just before the poker hit me but I felt the end of it scratch across my forearm instead. I seethed in pain, my ass falling to the floor and Kie scrambled to me as I looked at my arm. Crain may be blind but she was dangerous.

She'd caught me right over my forearm, a three inch cut across the middle of it. It didn't look too deep despite the small trickle of blood that fell from it.

Crain swung for us again but Sarah jumped in at the last second โ€” coming to our aid โ€” gripping to the poker that had just inflicted my wound with a loud whimper. She wrestled with Crain and threw the poker across the room before dashing forwards and grabbing my hand, "Come on, come on."

I grabbed Kie as Sarah hauled me up to my feet and we ran back through the house again before closing the door behind us. I leaned against it, looking around the room we were in which just so happened to be the parlour. We were in the room she'd supposedly killed Mr. Crain. I panted heavily, trying to catch my breath until the wood splintered besides my head. I turned to see an axe rammed into the wooden door, not even an inch away from my head and I screamed. A couple of centimetres to the right and she would've killed me.

It was official, I was sacred of Mrs. Crain.

I ran forwards as the woman pulled the axe from the door and hit it again, scrambling into Kie and Sarah. The two girls grabbed me desperately, holding to me tightly in fear as the wood splintered again from the second hit.

"Where the fuck does she get this energy from?" I yelled in terror, my eyes wide as I watched her hack away at the door, screeching like a mad woman.

"I dunno but I don't wanna find out!" Sarah yelled, "This way, it goes underneath the house."

We followed her again and continued our escape as the axe murderer continued cutting into the locked door. I wanted to put countries of space between Crain and I right now.. the whole axe murderer theory was beginning to sound more and more true with every passing second.

My legs were numb with adrenaline and I followed Kie and Sarah to the stairs, skidding into the wall as I tried to change direction to get down.

"Go, go, go!" Sarah yelled, Guys!"

"Guys!"

I opted for swearing as I ran down the stairs, "Fuck, fuck, fuck."

"Woah, woah, what's going on?" I heard Pope ask from in the basement. I just hoped to god that they'd gotten the gold by now.

"She's coming!" I shouted, following them into the basement.

"Crain.. she's up there." Sarah told them as I reached the bottom step, running over to my two friends and crashing into them tiredly as Sarah bent over to catch her breath.

"She tried to kill us with a fire poker, caught Mal with it." Kie said quickly.

"What?" Pope asked.

"Yeah then she almost impaled me in the head with a fucking axe!" I yelled, my eyes wide as I heaved for breath.

"We gotta get the fuck outta here." Kie hurried.

I sat on the floor between the two of them, drawing my legs into my chest and leaning over to catch my breath. I was breathing so heavily it was starting to make me lightheaded and now was not the time for me to be feeling dizzy.

"We locked her in the parlour but we gotta go." Sarah stressed.

"Okay, no, that's code red. Code red!" JJ shouted, "Let's go. John B! Get back on man!"

I lifted my head from my hands, "Hurry up!"

"JJ!" I heard John B shout up, "Hold on man I'm comin'."

Kie and Sarah grabbed the rope to help Pope and JJ and I stayed on the floor, lying back against it when I went dizzy.

"Mal, Mally?" Sarah said in a panic, "Are you all right?"

"Yeah." I responded, holding a thumbs up, "Just dizzy."

"Three, two, one, pull!" Pope instructed and I sat up to see them fall to the floor. For whatever reason, John B wasn't on the rope.

"Shit!" Sarah swore.

"Where the hell is he?" Pope asked.

I got up and I managed to get over to the well to look down next to my friends, "John B!" Sarah yelled, "John B?"

"Shh, shh." Kie fired, "Guys, shh!"

We heard John B shouting up to us but it echoed and whatever he said wasn't clear.

"What's he saying?" JJ asked us.

We stayed silent until we heard him shouting again, "JJ, Pope, Mal, Kieโ€”"

"Yo, he's drowning! We've gotta pull him out." Kie yelled in a panic and we scrambled to our feet.

I grabbed the rope at the end, "John B, get back on the rope buddy. We're gonna pull you back up, okay?" Pope yelled down.

"Come on! Come on!" Kie shouted.

"All right, on three guys!" I shouted as Sarah gripped the rope in front of me.

"Okay, everybody!" JJ yelled.

"I'm on!" I heard John B call up to us and I gripped the rope.

"Okay, let's go!" Pope instructed and we pulled on the rope, grunting as we did so.

I dug my feet into the floor by the brick wall and ignored how much my arm was stinging as I pulled, "Keep going!" I yelled to my friends.

"C'mon!" Sarah encouraged.

We continued pulling John B out until I heard a gunshot backfire and the the bricks near my head crumbled. I screamed, jumping back in shock as Kie and Sarah screeched too, "Shit!"

"What the fuck!" I yelled, "Three times? C'mon!"

Crain was literally out to kill us tonight and I needed to get out of this damn house as soon as I could.

The rope pulled through my hands after I'd let go in shock of being shot at and I tried to grab it again but my hands were shaking so much for me to get a firm grip. The only people holding the rope now was JJ and Pope.

"Climb up!" JJ yelled to John B, "C'mon, hang on!"

Pope groaned from the strain of holding our friends weight, "Tie it up now!"

We tied the rope off and ducked to find a hiding spot as Crain came into the basement fully. If we were quiet she wouldn't be able to find us and we just had to pray she didn't aim at us.

Sarah pulled me behind the brick wall Crain had aimed at and we heaved quietly for air, "She can't aim for shit!" Kie said.

"She can't see." I whispered quietly, "She's blind."

The gun fired again and it splintered the wood we were hiding behind.

"God!" I yelled as I jumped from the shot, I felt like ten seconds away from a heart attack. I got up to my feet, I wasn't waiting around my more. The next shot Crain fired could very well hit me and I wasn't going to sit around like a waiting duck for it to happen.

"Shit, go, go!" Kie yelled at us and we ran as the shotgun cocked again.

I passed JJ and Pope and grabbed JJ's hand, "Fucking get up!" I told them quickly, "C'mon!"

Crain fired again, right by our heads and I ducked on instinct.

"Go, go!" Pope shouted.

Pope ran passed me as JJ scrambled to his feet and the latter wrapped his arm around my waist protectively, "I don't care if she is blind, that's buckshot!" He yelled, pulling me up the basement stairs quickly.

We gunned it across the front lawn, running back to the wall we'd jumped over to get to the van and I hopped it with so much power I nearly went flying across the road and I would've if Pope hadn't caught me. I grabbed to his arm in a vice grip as I ran to the van.

We jumped into our getaway vehicle, waiting nervously for John B to follow us and I collapsed against the floor in exhaustion around my friends. My body was physically hurting from all the running and the adrenaline. I was sprawled out until JJ grabbed my arm and pulled me towards him. He pulled me to sit in between his legs on the floor and I collapsed back against him fully, leaning my back against his chest.

We were all panting, breathing heavily from the rush.

Kie was looked back at us in the drivers seat and I heard another shot echo around us, "Where is he?!"

"Come on, start the car. Go!" Pope yelled.

"John B!" Sarah shouted through the open side door as another shot rang out.

"Why are we always getting shot at?!" Pope yelled.

"John B get your ass in the car!" I yelled as Kie started driving.

Sarah was leaning out the edge, "Come on! Come on!"

"Wait, wait, wait, wait! Wait!" He yelled and he jumped in, collapsing against the floor tiredly, "Woah, holy shit!"

My eyes widened at the state of him. He was covered from head to toe in mud. I could barely even make out his eyes as he looked at us, collapsed against the back of the passenger seat, "Dude, you're fucking filthy!"

"Oh my, god!" Pope yelled.

"Kie drive!" Sarah shouted.

"Go man!"

JJ laughed behind me when he saw John B, "Oh my god!" He said, "Are you okay? Are you shot?"

"No." John B muttered.

"You good, JB?" I asked.

"Yeah, yeah." He nodded.

"I think I'd know if I were shot right?" Kie asked us.

"Yeah man." I nodded breathlessly, "Like you'd know if Crain hit you with a fire poker!" I told them, holding my arm up, "Look at this, the woman's a psycho."

JJ grabbed my arm, "Hey let me see that." He said, taking my arm and looking at the cut across it.

"It's fine." I brushed off, "Nothing a bandage won't fix."

"You look disgusting." Pope told John B.

Kie nodded, "God you smell like ass."

"What the hell just happened?" Sarah asked.

I smiled at her, "All-time Pogue Hall of Fame, baby." JJ said from behind me.

"Hell, yeah." Kie agreed.

"Welcome to Pogue life, Cameron!" I said to her.

She smiled at me as Kie looked back to us for a split second, "That bitch is possessed."

"That bitch can't aim." Sarah added.

"How does she move that fast?" Pope asked us.

I widened my eyes in agreement, "Right? Like does she have roller skates or something?!"

"I don't understand it!" Pope said to me.

"She's blind." Kie said.

"She's like Master Yoda." JJ butted in.

Sarah shook her head at JJ, "I dunno."

"It makes no sense." Pope said, "Scientifically."

"She does yoga, pilatesโ€”"

"โ€”I'm sure she goes to a firearms class for the blind." I added with a laugh.

JJ chuckled behind me, resting his arm over my shoulder, "Oh, god."

"What.. is that?" Kie asked, taking another glimpse down at John B as she drove.

I looked over to our muddy friend to see him holding something in his hand, that also covered in mud. He'd been silent since we started talking, clearly preoccupied in whatever was in his hand.

Sarah shook her head in disbelief, "No.. you didn't."

I sat forwards, "Wait, what?"

"We did it, baby!" John B shouted in sudden excitement.

"No you didn't?!" Sarah shouted in disbelief.

"I did it!"

My jaw dropped in shock as I stared at the gold in John B's hand and I cheered in excitement, "Holy fucking shit!"

"Oh my god!" JJ shouted in excitement.

"I did it!"

We laughed and cheered in celebration and JJ wrapped his arms around me tightly, kissing my cheek and we screamed in excitement.

"Holy shit, holy shit!" Kie yelled from the drivers seat.

"I can't believe it, oh my god!" I yelled, "We actually found it!"

"Whooooooo!" Pope screamed like a mad man.

"That's gold!"

"Wait, wait!" Kie yelled over us, "You guys we're gonna be rich!"

"Full Kook!" Pope muttered wide eyed.

"Like Kook rich!" Kie yelled.

"Full Kook, full Kook, full Kook!" Pope started chanting.

I slapped the floor by JJ's leg in excitement. This was it, the six of us were going to be millionaires.

"Full Kook, full kook, full kook!"

"Full Kook, baby!" JJ cheered loudly and he kissed my temple.

I kicked the floor with my feet, screaming loudly with my friends in excitement. I couldn't believe we'd actually done it.

I looked up at JJ and reached up, latching my arm around his neck and pulling his head down to mine. He locked eyes with me, that mischievous twinkle that I adored brimming and I kissed him firmly. Our friends continued to cheer around us and I pulled back a second, my eyes only for JJ as I grinned.

This was the answer to all our problems.

And with that I kissed him again.
