Mission

I've made the decision to stop thinking about what happened. Whatever Mobius meant with those words probably didn't have such a deep conotation, he was an incredible person but I had to remind myself that people weren't honest 100% of time. Most of all that he didn't want me thete as his friend, I was a worker, an appretince, a way for the TVA to success.

I woke up determined to work hard, to be successful. I put my suit on and walked towards the hallways complimenting everybody on the way, even other variants who were about to be pruned.

But when I arrived at our desk I didn't have the most pleaseful of the surprises. Mobius wasn't there. Instead just a note:

"Sorry Y/N, I have an important mission now and I can't stay today. But study hard while I'm gone okay?

Ps: I probably won't be back for lunch either, so don't wait for me"

Mobius presence didn't seem to affect others, actually people were just so busy that I don't even think they noticed something besides their own papers.

But somehow his presence affected me. And I didn't want it to.

I tried everything, I studied many pages of the almost infinite TVA's Rules Manual, then watched Miss Minutes Tutorials ( I was so bummed that even her presence didn't bother), then did another workbook full of exercises.

But the time didn't seem to pass, no matter how much I did it all seemed to be useless.

I observed his chair by my side on the desk, empty, and in front of it, his magazine of Jet Skis. I grabbed it to read and a thin notebook fell from it. I've never seen that before.

I looked around the room to see if anyone was watching me, after that I grabbed the textbook and observed it with attention. It had a hard black cover, no title, but seemed to be heavily organized, well of course it was, it belonged to Mobius.

I wondered why he never showed me that book before. Did it have secrets? What if he had an evil plan? Could Mobius have secret thoughts that no one could see? The idea made me tremble, I was scared to open it and also felt bad by wanting to open, it wasn't mine for me to do it, shouldn't I respect his privacy?

Well if he wanted privacy he should've put a locker on it right? I opened it.

It was a journal, every page had a date and he wrote notes. One of them was:

"Today I taught Y/N the necessary information about radioactive time travellers, she seeemd to have understood it very well, she's having a lot of progress"

On another:

"Y/N today did a great score on her test. I dare to say she's getting better in this, except from the part she argues with Miss Minutes"

I chuckled and continued turning the pages, all of them talked about my evolution on the TVA, and the notes were getting more friendly as I read further:

"Today Y/N and I did a prank on B-15, she was very annoyed but it was totally worth it. I think we three make a good team."

"Y/N said she never had Ice-Cream before today, I'm thinking of asking the cafeteria's cooker to make ice cream for dessert so she could try it some time, I can already imagine her reaction!"

"Y/N and I got late to get back to work after lunch today, we were talking so much that I didn't even see the hours passing by, wich is weird since I'm the most punctual in the office."

The last one wasn't finished, probably from last night:

"Work is doing fine, it's just... I don't know I felt something...weird. No one ever taught me about this in the TVA, I'm...comfused."

What was he talking about? Something bad? Did I scared him? Did I do anything that hurt him?

Those thoughts circled my head worried and when I noticed what I was doing I ordered myself to stop. I didn't even know what happened and I was blaming myself.

I closed the notebook and put it back where it was. I wasn't even supposed to know what all of that was about.

I decided to get up from my desk and walk a little, the TVA had the same mechanical rythm with guards here and there, all of them busy.

People didn't want to talk with me, no matter how polite or how nice I was they still saw me as a variant and that wouldn't change. There was still a rigid and strong prejudice between them about me, almost like they were superior to my existence just by working for the TVA. Did Mobius feel that way too? I doubted. He didn't seem to.

I arrived at a hallway I didn't go before. It was luxurious, and at the end there were 2 guards and some sort of gold elevator, a very big one with the writting "For all time and always", that was the TVA's slogan.

Yes. I have a serious problem with my curiosity. Ego told that about me multiple times, that I had to control myself, that it was annoying, but I couldn't fix it.

I walked towards the elevator, but, unfortunetly, they stopped me.

-Um....Where does that lead to?-I asked curious.

-Only authorized people may use the elevator.-One of them answeted serious without changing their expression, holding a baton that they could use at any moment.

-And who is authorized?

-Judge Ravonna only.

-Oh...-I reacted, what was so important behind that door?- Why?

-It is the only access to talk with the Time-Keepers.-Other replied.

-Hey Dan!-The other guard called him out.

-What? She was just asking!

-She's a variant!

-Oh...oops.

-The Time-Keepers are just after this elevator?-My eyes sparkled with the idea.

I still had my doubts if the Time-Keepers really existed but at that moment maybe the theory was right. I trembled thinking how strong they could be.

At that moment a light appeared on the elevator and the doors opened, revealing the one and only Judge Ravonna. Her eyes were weird again, just like last night.

They were huge, in circled black espheres, the mouth just a thin line across her face and she seemed to be getting out of some trance.

-What are you doing here?!-She noticed me and got suddenly was annoyed.

-I-I was just exploring...-I tried to speak.

-You are a variant under the TVA's supervision. You are not supposed to "explore". Get back to your position. Now.

Well I definetly wasn't expecting THAT. The way that Mobius always spoke about Ravonna was totally different from that, where was the kind, intelligent and reasonable woman he said she was? Even though I was a variant that didn't justify her rude attitude.

-What are you waiting for? Go.-She demanded again.

I closed my fists offended by her words but trying to stay calm. Mobius said that I needed to keep my cool in this place, specially with superiors like Judge Ravonna. Maybe she's just having a bad day. Yes, a bad day, that's it.

I didn't say anything and just walked away from her.

I was sleeping on my desk when I heard the bell for lunch, at that part of the day I used to go excited to the cafeteria with Mobius, this time I wasn't.

I went to the cafeteria and didn't eat as much as I wanted to, I got late and got a table close to the bathroom, everytinme someone used to get out from it they bumped the door at my back, without mentioning the smell, lost my apetite.

I could feel the eyes from the others in the room, I used to be distracted by him but now I could see them all, still there, thinking I was a mistake, that I wasn't supposed to be there. And all of sudden I felt small again.

I got back to my desk in the same silence I went to the cafeteria, like a ghost not wanting to be noticed.

I stood there for quite some time, building a tower of pens, almost making it considerable high enough to be cautious to don't fall.

But it fell at that moment he ran towards me and I slammed my hand accidently on it.

-Y/N!-Mobius exclaimed. He didn't look neat and organized as he always was, the hair was messed, the tie a little pulled to the side and he seemed to have fell on the ground. Had widen, agitated eyes and spoke with a rush, putting his hands on my shoulders- I need your help.

-H-Help? With what?-I was still schocked by his presence there.

-It's a variant. I know you didn't expect to start on missions now, but I really need your help.

I couldn't say no. I just nodded with my head saying yes.

-Great, let's go.-He opened a portal with his timepad and entered as I followed him.

We were on a different place.  It was in a snowy area, very cold, wich made me tremble as we got out from the portal. The sky was in a light blue to white, mixing with the color of the snow, so pure that at first didn't seem harmful at all.

-Where are we?-I asked.

-Between Nepal and Tibet. Mount Everest, 2015.-He answered serious.

The situation must be difficult since he had to call me for help, it was incredible how he still managed to keep his cool.

-And what's the situation?-I tried to act professional but inside I was nervous.

-An alpinist who shouldn't be there.-He spoke, wich didn't seem serious so I relaxed a bit.

-What are we supposed to do?-I asked.

He gave me some sort of hike equipment.

-Go up.-He pointed and I opened my eyes surprised.

-What??

-Hurry up, we have just a short period of time before the branch starts.

Mobius tightened the belt around my waist, his breath was visible because of the cold weather, a white smoke in the thin and sharp air as he used his skillfull hands to make sure the equipment was tight around my body.

Then he showed me how it's done and started to climb on his own. Now, this is what they say, it's easier said than done.

I couldn't even look down from how scared I was. The person we were looking for wasn't that far, but it was still hard for me to get there. Mobius also made clear instructions to don't make a loud sound or talk, the Everest would have an avalanche any time soon, so we had to be cautious to don't make it happen earlier.

My breath was instable along with my heartbeat, I almost couldn't feel my lips, I felt like they were frozen, my hands covered in a thin layer of snow as we continued to go higher. I could see the person, we were getting very close now, I had a good feeling about it.

Too soon to feel that way.

The wind got suddenly violent, making the rope I was using to climb throw me away from where Mobius was, loosing completely sight of him. The snow was now in the air, making everything white and impossible to see, I could just look up where the person was. Mobius said before that I should go and calm the person enough so we could take them back to the ground. If I did get to the ground.

"Just go slowly Y/N" I told myself "one after another, just like that...keep it steady" I slipped.

My heart almost jumped out through my throat as the adrenaline pumped into my veins, the cold ice betrayled me making me step into the vacuum beneath my feet, I held tight with my hands so I wouldn't fall and quickly, positioned my feet again. It was close. Too close.

I was starting to be annoyed by the fact that we were risking our lives to save a random alpinist variant that wasn't supposed to be there. It was too dangerous for that. Did the TVA know how much their workers risked themselves in those missions?

How many times did Mobius pass through situations like that? How did he have the courage and strentgh to? He believed so much in that organization, a faith that I could never relate to, even if I tried hard.

I coud see the variant's foot close to me. But I couldn't talk to them, it was still too risky. I just needed to touch them, but where? All his body was covered with clothes and fabric to avoid the brutal winter. I had to get closer so I could touch his face.

Just a little closer, not much left. Oh no. The alpinist saw me.

He stared at me, with big rounded and scared eyes. I could understand his schoockness, who would believe a person like me, with non hiking clothes or protection would be suddnly there? If I we were higher I'd die, that's for sure.

I mouthed for him to don't be afraid but I don't think he understood, I don't even know if he spoke my language at the time. I just know that he tried to avoid me, going faster through the mountain. By making that, he made a false movement and almost fell, having to hold tight with one hand at the edge of the rock he was.

"He almost died" I thought "almost died because of me, oh my..."

I needed to be fast, I needed to make him calmer and that should be now. I went in his direction, about to do it when I heard something.

I had a strange feeling.

Being an empath is interesting because you can feel all the beings in an environment, is inevitable, just like when you enter a room and feel its' smell. But at that moment I felt more than the three presences there were supoosed to be. I felt an unknown one. Rustling between the vegetation beneath the mountain, hiding, sneaking carefully to don't be caught.

A shadow moving fast through the trees. Maybe the snow was tricking my eyes, maybe being at that height would alter my senses, but something was telling me that I wasn't crazy. That something was really there, watching us.

-Y/N! PAY ATTENTION!-Mobius had to scream so I could get back to reality.

I almost didn't see the alpinist falling. I just heard the sound of his hand slipping through the cold rock and falling into the oblivion, he had his mouth open, in panic. I standed my hand so he could grab it but it was too late. Mobius tried to reach him and could do it, but it was being too hard for him to hold. I didn't know what to do.

Then it started. The sudden shake from the ground, the mountain gaining a different vibration as we observed lots of snow coming.

An avalanche.

Mobius was trying, in any way he could, to get out with the alpinist, but I was too far by the snow. I couldn't reach them.

The snow blocked my view as I tried to go down, it was coming, fast and furious in my direction.

My first TVA mission. Not what I expected.

My hand failed me and my leg couldn't help this time, I tried desperatly to seek into the rocks a salvation, a way to keep attached to them, but it was no use, the wind didn't help and pushed me away, I had no strentgh in my bones anymore, the coldness was taking control of me.

And I fell.

Closing my eyes as the mountain got far from them and my body fell cutting the wind.

I looked back for just a second. A shadow in the trees. It observed me.

I died in my first TVA mission.

-Y/N!-A voice exclaimed to me.-Y/N- I was slowly opening my eyes, my vision getting clearer as I spot the white, cloudy, fluffy hair, the light blue eyes full of compassion and kindness, but most of all, concern.

I could see the orange and brown walls behind him, we were back. Back in the TVA.

Before I could say something Mobius pulled me into his arms, embracing me in a tight and caring hug wich I never experienced before.

I've never been hugged by someone. Ego never cared about me to do that, I just read about hugs in books, I knew what it was but never felt it. And something about that seemed magical, even though Mobius clothes were cold and wet because of the snow, the hair still with melting snowflakes that mixed their color with his strands. He hugged me in a way nobody could. Like he almost didn't want to let me go.

-I was so worried...-He muttered in my ear.

I dared myself to hug him back, slowly and hesitant, but I did, feeling the back of his suit and comforting my head next to his neck. It still had a remain scent of his usual cologne, something between vanilla and chamomille, mixed with a stronger scent of wood and cinnamon.

Mobius got back a little, the arms still around my body as he looked at my face with an expression I couldn't understand.

-I-I'm sorry.-I said, but my voice was so weak that it sounded like a whisper.

-It's okay. It doesn't matter.-He whispered back and comforted me.-What matters is that you're safe.

I tried to agree, I really tried, but at the same time I felt like that was not only what mattered at the moment. I failed. I was meant to help, not worry Mobius. He seemed so scared about me, so concerned that I felt guilty, guilty for falling from that mountain, guilty for not paying attention enough, guilty for not being able to complete the mission.

I didn't even know how I got back to the TVA.

The door opened and just now I noticed I was in the nursery. B-15 entered and Mobius let my body go, standing professionaly on his feet and I felt cold again.

B-15 gave a quick smile by seeing me awake, but turned back serious as someone else entered the room behind her. That was the reason of Mobius sudden serious behaviour. Judge Ravonna was there, her stiff expression colder than the Mount Everest itself on her face observing me.

-You're awake.-She spoke.

I didn't know if I should answer or not.

-Do you know how much you risked in this mission?

-Ravonna she just woke up, I don't think it's time for-Mobius tried to say.

-Yes it is Mobius. She didn't just risk her life and yours, but  also the branch that was forming. She risked the TVA and the Sacred Timeline.

-I'm so sorry-I tried but she interrupted me too.

-Apologies won't fix the situation. You were lucky Agent Mobius was able to take the Variant safe and reset the timeline.-She said fiercely and I glanced quickly at Mobius, he had a dedication for that work I could never understand.- I don't think bringing this variant to work in the TVA was a wise decision.

-Ravonna wait-Mobius went after her as my heart beated fast in my chest.  What did she want to do??- It was her first mission, give her another chance please. It was an emergency and I called her, she wasn't prepared.

-Still. How much time does she need Mobius? Uhm? Now you will want her to recover herself, then learn more, and while she's here she's doing nothing. We don't adopt variants.

I hated the way Ravonna refered variants. She talked about them like they were objects, a rock in their way, an obstacle wich she wanted gone.

-I take responsability for it. Give her another chance. Please.-Mobius looked intensely at her.

-Do you know how hard it's being to convince the Time-Keepers about this idea Mobius? How much I'm trusting you in this?

-I know. And I'm grateful for that. But I need you to understand the situation and give her another chance.

-I...-Ravonna hesited.

-Judge Ravonna.- B-15, who has been quiet all that time at the corner of the room, finally spoke.

-What?

-If you excuse me, I have been observing this variant learning with Mobius for all this time. I know how much he put effort into teaching her, and the same goes for the effort she has on learning. I know how much this mission was risky, we lost agents at that mountain before Mobius contacted her, it was not a wise decision putting her into a mission like that with no prepare. So please, I know how much this variant can help, even though as a variant, in the TVA. Let Mobius continue supervising her.

I think we all had the same reaction towards her speech. She made us speechless. My eyes met B-15's and a little smile formed on my face full of grattitude, wich I quickly had to hide since Ravonna turned to me.

She observed me, you could almost spot the smoke of the engines in her brain processing the information and making her judgement. She sighed and finally said:

-Fine. But I don't want her in any missions for a while. And she'll do an exam to continue working here to prove she's able to go on missions.

-An exam? Rav-

-That's it or I'll prune her Mobius.-Her words made me shake.

Mobius didn't say much, he nodded and accompanied her out of the room, B-15 followed them and winked at me as she left.

That was too close. I felt relieved but at the same time like trash. Mobius and B-15 were again risking themselves for me, while I couldn't do anything right. I closed my eyes tired and fell asleep again. The last image on my mind was the shadow on the trees. I'm sure I wasn't crazy. It was real.

For the past two weeks I recovered in just one, and the other I stayed in the office studying more while Mobius went to missions with his team. It seemed like he had more work now, we almost didn't see each other.

I managed to ignore the eyes from he curious and rude agents at lunch, the gossips I heard in the office "The Variant? I heard Ravonna is gonna prune her soon" " As she should", and the mental judgments while walking through the hallways.

I endured one week with that, always arriving one minute late after Mobius left the desk, not motivated to even throw things at Miss Minutes. I felt stuck, a child locked in their house by their parents. I passed through that before with Ego, I didn't want to pass through that again.

It was late. I don't know wich hour was, just that it was a dark night. Only the light of my desk on. I had a cup of chocolate coffee in my hands and my own suit warming me as I sat on my chair side by side with an empty one. Sonetimes I stayed like that, waiting for him to arrive so we could have some coffee together, so I could hear about his day, or just see him again. I never thought I'd get so attached to someone so much. I never thought I'd have a friend.

-Again Y/N?-A familiar voice came behind me, B-15. She looked at me with a half smile as she sat on a chair.- It's the third time I see you here alone at this hour waiting for him.

-I-I'm not waiting...-I stuttered. I seemed so cringy by the words "waiting for him".

-Then why the other cup?-She showed in the desk- And what is this?-She grabbed a magazine- Wow, Jet Ski's magazine from 2011, you got that in the archives for him?

I couldn't even answer her question.

-That looks like waiting for me.-She put the magazine back on the desk and looked serious at me- You can't just rely your life on Mobius girl.

-I'm not!

-Yes you are. When he's not here you feel lost. I see you sometimes wandering through the hallways, sharpening pencils you're not even going to use, or just people watching at lunch.

She was right. It's terrible how B-15 could be right and brutally sincere at the same time, she had no filter.

-And what should I do?-I whispered looking at my cup, the liquid almost over.

-Prove to Ravonna that Mobius is right.-She said and I looked at her- Study, train. Do everything you can to pass this test.

-What if I can't? Maybe the academic part, but the physical I won't-

-I'll train you.

I blinked twice at her statement to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

-You...what?

-Are you deaf girl? I said I will train you. 7 a.m tomorrow, don't be late.-She got up from her seat and walked back to her room- And go sleep, I don't want you like a zombie in my class!

I laughed and saw her leaving, a slight smile on her face.

A sparkle of hope lightned in me. Maybe I could do that.

Maybe I couldn't.

-Ugh-I groaned as I fell again on the floor.

-Get up!-She shouted- Strentgh Y/N, where's your strentgh?

-She's gone-I joked as I standed again on my feet.

-Pay attention, eyes on the adversery, stand your baton-She pointed at the stick she gave me, of course she wouldn't let me use a real weapon- You can't just rely on it, you need to use your body. You are fast, try to avoid the attacks.

She came to me in a tentative of hitting, I couldn't avoid and fell again feeling the hard ground on my back.

-Again Y/N.-She came to me and standed her hand for me to get up.-You can do it girl.

B-15 and I trained like that for 2 weeks, I wasn't strong like her, but she managed to make a strategy that made me faster so I could use my powers in variants more quickly. I could avoid attacks and hit back better, I bet that if Ego saw me like that he wouldn't believe in his own eyes.

I wondered if one of my variants fighted too, if Mantis was an incredible fighter in her timeline. Sometimes I wondered about that, how my life would be if I waited longer for those guardians to show up. But at the same time I was glad I didn't. Life was hard but escaping the torture I was, meeting B-15 and Mobius, having a chance to change my future... That I would never regret.

It was our last train one day, when B-15 was coming in an incredible speed in my direction, our sticks making a loud "CLACK" sound as we both attacked, she tried to use her other hand to hit me, but I was faster and sipped my leg beneath hers making her fall. I standed tbe stick in her direction as she was on the ground and she sniffed smiling.

-I created a monster.-She joked and I standed my hand for her to get up.

-That was just luck, I'll never get better than my master.-I bowed and we laughed.

-It's today, are you ready?

-Yeah. I think I am.

She tapped my shoulder and we walked out of the training room.

I was ready, waiting by the door of the room I'd have my test. B-15 wished me luck and went on a mission she was assigned to so I stayed there alone.

I was a bit nervous, I had no idea if I'd go really well in that, but I had no other choice. I tried to remember her words "You can do this Y/N. Don't just Prove Ravonna she's wrong. Prove yourself that you can do it, don't rely on me or Mobius, rely on yourself, be your own anchor".

Someone called my name. It was time. I took a deep breath and entered the doors.

I won't be able to narrate every single step of the test, but it was summed in three levels. The first was the written exam, where I'd have to test my knowledge about the TVA and the Sacred Timeline. It was funny how I could read tbe questions and remember exactly Mobius teaching me those things.

"And this is an equipment we use to creat a magnetic field." He said.

"Looks like a piece of cheese" I replied.

"Uh...no"

"It does! Look" I went next to him and grabbed the book, my hands slightly brushing with his "the format is identical to a piece of cheese"

"Okay, but this is actually a Glosblackincy"

"...A...What...?"

"...you know what? Let's call it cheese for now"

After the written part there is the logical one. Where an agent tells you multiple situations and ask what would be the reasonable choice at that moment.

Mobius did one of those in lunch with me and B-15 someday.

"A variant is about to paint a wall, what do you do?" He asked.

"Uh...let them paint? Why would a variant paint a wall?" I was confused.

"Artistical purposes?" B-15 tried to explain "but it happens."

"What do you do Y/N?" Mobius asked again.

"I let them paint and then arrest them?"

"No, you don't let them paint"

"Why not?"

"It can alter time, the paint wasn't there before, it's a mark left by the variant" B-15 spoke. "Your mission is to make the branch disappear, the less the damage caused the better."

And after that, the last part of the exam, the physical one.

A guard standed a replica of a TVA baton in his hands, while I received one as well, both didn't work, but were identical to a real one.

All I had to do, was defeat him, like in a real conflict with a variant and arrest him.

"Remember, there are no rules for a Variant, they will do anything to escape" B-15 explained while we fought. "But that doesn't mean you doesn't need to have morals. Be ethical and professional. Don't use more violence than necessary" and with that she throwed me on the ground "again Y/N".

I skipped his attack in a spin, holding the baton like a sword as I turned around him, making his senses confused of where I went to. Then, used one of my arms to grab his against his back, managing to make him stuck and, finally, put the choker on his neck with a "click".

Test done.

We complimented each other and he took of the choker. I passed.

I almost couldn't hold the emotion I felt. Judge Ravonna appeared, her face still serious and not wanting to congratulate me.

-Congratulations. You've proven yourself worth.-She said mechanically- Here is your official TVA badge.-She gave the small metal piece in my hands- Since you're a variant your equipment will only be given during missions by your supervisor and given to him back after it's over. Understood?

-Yes. Thank you!-I smilled like an idiot observing my photo in the badge.

I walked out of the room distracted, on a cloud 9, giving little jumps and dancing while getting out of the room.

I just stopped when I saw a flower in front of me.

I looked in the direction of the arm holding it. Mobius.

-Please tell me you don't have allergy to lilacs.-He chuckled. I stared at the bouquet in his hands.- ...It's for you.

I hesited for a moment but accepeted, his hand touching mine as I grabbed the bouquet. Purple lilacs, their smell filling my nose and full of color in my eyes.

-Mobius...thank you, but you didn't need-

-It's just... way to congratulate you.-He smiled- And these flowers were on the way while on a mission, it wasn't very hard to take them.-He seemed slightly nervous explaining why. His eyes met mine- I knew you could do it.

-Yeah...You and Bee helped a lot.

-Bee?

-Oh, you weren't here, B-15 and I gave each other nicknames. She's Bee and I am Chicken.

-Chicken?-He chuckled.

-Because I'm scared of lots of things.-I said and we both laughed.

-Do I get a nickname too?-He joked.

-Hm...I don't know, should you?-I teased and he lifted one of his eyebrows, I almost blushed by how charming that was.

-And what should I do to deserve one? -He stepped closer and I couldn't take my eyes from his. A playful smirk on his lips while he looked at me.

-You are not like Bee, you don't deserve one.-I continued, we were so close, just inches away.

-Oh so I've been replaced by her?

-Jealous?-I smiled.

He stood quiet for a moment. His face seemed so lovely, the lilac smell in the air, his eyes glancing slightly down at my lips then back at me.

-A bit.-He replied and I felt butterflies in my stomach.

We were almost in a trance at that moment. Like magnets attracting to metal.

But the moment was interrupted by a random guard:

-Agent Mobius could you verify the files of this mission?-He shouted.

Something in his eyes made me feel like he didn't like the interruption, or maybe it was just my imagination.

-Duty calls.-He said.

-Go ahead. And thanks again.-I replied and he nodded with his head.

He walked away, turning back while he walked to see me, as I waved at him good-bye and he chuckled.

Everything seemed brighter, happier and better. I stared at the lilacs beautifully at the bouquet and smiled to myself.

"Does he know what purple lilacs mean?" I questioned myself with the idea "No, he probably brought a random boucquet, yes, that's it" I laughed and walked away.

Life seemed good.

Mobius' POV (Moments before)

-Watch out!-I yelled at my partners as we avoided an attack from a variant with powers.

I rolled on the ground to be safe. I was at a mission, but at the same time my mind was in the TVA. Y/N's test was that day and I couldn't talk with her these days. I was so busy that I barely saw her. I strangely missed her.

Two guards behind the variant and I in the front, that's it, we were going to capture it now. I ran towards the variant with them, and, surrounding it, we managed to put the choker.

-Good job y'all.-I said catching my breath.

-The branch is getting bigger Agent Mobius.-One of the guards said-We should reset the timeline now.

That's when I saw it. A flower shop across the streets.

-How much time do we have?-I asked.

-Uh...5 minutes.-The guard replied confused by my question- We should go sir-

-Wait here.-I rushed to the shop.

Not affected by the fight, the pink colored store had lots of plants displayed outside, and a florist observed us curious as I approached.

She was an elderly lady, the hair stuck in a bun, she wore a plaid brown dress, the glasses big around her eyes, making them twice their size.

-Excuse me, I...wanted to give flowers to friend...-I tried to say and my eyes stopped at some purple ones nearby.

They were delicate, pretty and with a beeutiful pure color. And something in them made me suddenly think of Y/N.

The woman glanced at me and the flowers and gave a smile:

-Those are purple lilacs.-She answered.- You have good taste.

-Then I'll take them-I chuckled and started to pay her, even though the timeline would be resetted that didn't mean I wouldn't pay.

She was putting them into a pretty bouquet with a blue ribbon keeping them together, her old hands by the time working fastly, she probably did that a lot in her life. I felt slightly sad by resetting that timeline at the moment.

-Do you know the meaning of purple lilacs?-She said.

-They have one?

-All flowers have. And this one is one of my favorites.-She smiled- Purple lilacs represent the beggining of love or a first love. New couples usually gift each other with these flowers.

I blushed by her sentence.

-O-Oh that's not my case, she's just a friend of mine.-I sniffed nervous.

She looked in my eyes and smirked shaking her head in a no, then turned back to the flowers.

-Alright sir.-She said- But let me tell you something- She handled me the flowers- We don't choose flowers because of their appearence, we choose them because they somhow speak, have a connection with us.-I held the bouquet in my hands- Just like you glanced and knew the lilacs were perfect for your "friend".

-I-I'm sorry-I shaked my head- This time you are wrong ma'am, that's really not what's happening.

-If you say so...-She didn't seem convinced- Have a good day.

-You too. Thank you.

I walked away and ran almost forgetting about the time for the branch.

-Sir you were...Buying flowers?-The gaurd stared weirdly at me.

-Let's go. No questions, we need to reset the timeline, go, go.

They entered at the portal with the variant, and I glanced at the flowers once again, smiling to myself. Then resetted the timeline entering the portal.
