64 hours prior...

"I feel like we haven't spent much time together in months." Camilla says as she jumps onto the couch Damon had been laying on.

He lets out a groan as she lands directly on his stomach. "I always end up with wounds every time we do hang out, Elena's going to start thinking you're the bad influence."

She simply waves his comment off. "I'm serious Dames. We... we don't have all the time in the world. I just want you to have those memories for when I'm gone." She admits with a solemn sigh.

"Let's drink!" Damon exclaims as he attempts to lighten the mood and jumps up from the sofa.

Walking towards the alcohol cabinet he grabs a bottle of bourbon and two glasses from the shelf above them and places them on the table.

"Your solution to everything is alcohol Damon." She rolls her eyes.

"Has it ever failed me? No. Has it betrayed me? No. Has it caused me pain? Ok, maybe but that's my fault." He mumbles the last part with a small chuckle.

He takes the two full glasses and the bottle and hands her, her drink and takes a seat next to her.

Shaking her head in amusement she throws her head back with laughter. "You're an alcoholic. Have you ever considered going to an AA meeting?"

"If I wanted a lecture I would've searched for Stefan." Damon groans before he quickly becomes silent. "A little birdie told me you went to see him."

Camilla slams down the drink and Damon is quick to refill it. "I did."

"And how did that go? Did he grovel? Beg for you back? I swear he didn't get his game from me. I mean how do you think I ended up with his girlfriend." He dryly jokes, still deeply angry with his brother.

"It was... good. I got to say goodbye to him one final time." She then turns her head to face him. "You should forgive him Damon. There's two sides to every story but in this case I think you've only heard your own side. And by two sides I mean his and mine."

"No, no, no." He shakes his head and points an accusing finger at her. "You don't get to do that."

"Do what?" She questions in annoyance.

"That thing that you do that makes me feel like I'm in the wrong." He snarks.

"Damon." She sighs. "I will always love Stefan."

"But he broke your heart." Damon counters and interrupts.

"But I'll always love Nik more." She corrects.

"He broke your heart also." He shrugs.

"You have to understand... the love I felt for Stefan and the love I feel for Klaus... there's no comparison. With Stefan it was like he saved me. Like we had just clicked so fast and everything was, perfect."

"Am I the only one confused with where this is going?" Damon looks around the room. "Right. I'm the only other person here."

"With Nik it feels passionate. Like no matter what he did I would forgive him. Like I would fight an army for him at any given point. With him, it's like I can breathe. I never know what's going to happen next and I love it. I know he's always going to protect me to whatever extent he can and I know he's not perfect. I don't want perfect I want burning passion. I want all of his imperfections. I want the late nights we've spent up arguing and I want the mornings we stay in bed cuddled up while he tells me all of the things that he finds beautiful about me. I want the little surprises that he tries to minimize but I know he actually put weeks of time into it, like his paintings he does of me." She finishes.

Grabbing his hand she gives it a gentle squeeze. " Stefan didn't love me the way I deserved to be loved this time around. But it went both ways. I didn't love him the way he deserved to be loved either. People fall out of love Damon, and when he finally realized it he was free. He deserves to live his life out in the world and find a totally epic love again. Forgive him."

Damon is quiet for a few minutes as they both finish their second glass of bourbon. He suddenly groans. "Why do you always have to be right?"

"Because I'm Camilla." She says in a 'duh' tone before her face softens. "You know I can leave you his address, I think you both need each other in your lives whether you admit it or not."

"The Salvatore brother duo was almost as great as the Forbes sisters." Damon chuckles with an undertone of sadness. "Guess that's why you have to go, can't have the two best duos at the same time, I don't think the earth could handle it."

"No, I don't think they could." She laughs at his words.

"Cami you need to tell the kids." Damon gives her a pointed look that she avoids.

"I know, I know. Nik and I were talking about it this morning. I think we're going to do it when they get back from they're 'bonding.'" She shrugs with a loud sigh.

"You think they're gonna be okay?" Damon eyes her in thought.

Camilla's eyes water slightly but she attempts to force the tears back down. "I think they'll be more than okay." She breathes out a small smile. "I think they're going to thrive."

"I know I've already died once but..." she peers up at him through her lashes. "Are you going to be okay?"

"Cami, it's going to be rough losing one of the only friends I've manage to make in my long life. It's going to hurt for a long time, but I'm positive I'll see you again one day." He whispers as he stares into the fire with an apprehensive look.

Camilla scoots into his side and leans her head onto his shoulder. "I'll be waiting for you Dames."

"Don't you ever stop." He half jokes, half warns her.

"Never." She whispers with a small smile. "Do you remember when Caroline was hung up on Tyler?"

"Mhm." He sassily replies with a roll of his eyes. "I never understood why. Wolfy wasn't all that great in the looks department."

"Now she's with Elijah." Camilla softly laughs. "Rest in peace Tyler Lockwood."

"Remember that one time I broke things off with Elena because I didn't think I was good enough?" He looks down at the blonde with a fond smile.

"And I had to drag you by your ear from the Mystic Grill home because you were so drunk afterwards." She barks a laugh at the memories.

"She was still in love with me after all of that." Damon summarizes still in awe after all of these years.

"You got the girl Dames." Camilla raises her glass to clink it to his.

"Almost sixteen years later and were all still surprised." She mumbles under her breath and Damon playfully nudges her with a laugh.

The two best friends spend a while more staring into the fire in comfortable silence. Both of them knew it could be their last time alone, their last drink even. But they were both happy to enjoy the others company while it lasted.

Camilla begins thinking about telling the kids. She's scared of their reactions. She's scared that Alec and Jace are going to lash out, she's scared that Hope will numb herself, she's scared that Lizzie will have another break down, and she's scared that Josie is going to crawl right back into her shell. But she knew that it would be worse than to not tell them at all. To not tell them would be seen as betrayal to all of them and it would most likely scar them for life. Something Camilla was most definitely never going to do on purpose.

But the deeper she goes into thinking the more she realizes how much shit she's actually in.

"Oh fuck." Camillas once relaxed eyes snap open as she gasps loudly.

Damon jerks at the sudden move and jumps up. "What's wrong now princess?"

"The merge." She whispers into the air.

Damon's eye brows furrow for a second before his mouth pops open. "Holy shit."

"I can't leave Ric alone to deal with that, he can't take care of the kids, the school, and find a solution." She panics before standing quickly. "I have to talk to Ric and Nik."

As she runs out of the room Damon's silent for a moment before chuckling. "Ric and Nik, who would've thought."
