Camilla and Kol arrive back at the Salvatore boarding school in the late hours of the evening. They both sit in silence as Kol contemplates his next words.
"I know that was hard for you, darling." He breaks the silence with a sigh. "No matter what has happened in the past, you just had to say goodbye for the third time to a man you were once deeply in love with."
Camilla stares out of the passenger side window deep in thought for a moment. "I've accepted it, you know? Dying. But I can't help but think, what if this is really the last time I'm seeing all of them? What if there is no peace after death for people like us, just emptiness."
"I refuse to believe that." Kol strongly argues. "Because while the world has been cruel, harsh, and many other things to me in my one thousand years of living... it would be down right bloody wrong for it to curse me to never see you again."
"When I die... can you promise me that you'll always take care of the kids? I know you have your own life with Davina but... I need to be one hundred percent sure that no matter what happens they will always have that kind of protection." She whispers tearfully.
Kol sniffles but nods his head repeatedly. "You have my word darling. And I promise the rest of my family will do right by you this time."
There was a hidden meaning behind those words, both of them knew it. The Mikaelsons failed her the first time around, but they would all take care of the remaining Forbes bloodline for as long as they lived after her death. Because they let her down so hard the first time, they owed it to her to do this. And they would.
Both of their heads shoot, startled, when they hear the front doors to the boarding school open. And there in the pouring rain stood a tense hybrid.
"I believe you two have some things to talk about, goodnight darling." Kol pats her knee and quickly leaves the car. He rushes towards the door and whispers something that Camilla couldn't quite hear into his brothers ear before walking inside, presumably to see his wife.
Klaus slowly walks towards the car and hesitantly opens the car door, taking the seat that his brother had previously occupied.
"It's not what you're thinking Nik." Camilla softly comments when she notices his tense jaw, and how he had been constantly avoiding her eyes.
She gently grabs his jaw and forces him to face her, rubbing his stubble with her thumb.
"Do you still love him?" He whispers. His eyes full of hurt and worry. It made Camilla feel guilty and regret that she didn't tell him where she was going in the first place.
Immediately she shakes her head frantically, sitting up on her knees in the passenger seat she now places both of her hands on his cheeks and pleads for him to believe her. "I will always love him but I'm no longer in love with him. I'm in love with you Nik."
"Then why did you feel the need to see him just days after you came back to life instead of spending time with me, who has been here the whole time waiting for you after I just poured my heart out to you!" He raises his voice, but Camilla knows he's just struggling with explaining his emotions.
"I just had to say goodbye, one last time." Camilla's voice cracks and his face softens. " I'm so sorry that I made you think something else was going on, I would never do that to you." She promises.
Klaus grabs her hand that was still on his face and softly kisses the palm of her hand. "I'm sorry for doubting you, love."
"Come on, let's go to bed." Camilla nudges her head towards the school.
They both head out of the car and Klaus is quick to wrap an arm around her shoulders and she replies by wrapping an arm around his waist.
"You've never been one for PDA." Camilla narrows her eyes at him and looks up at him suspiciously.
"Well, what can I say love. I can't help myself around you." He cheekily replies and she scoffs but is secretly happy the tension is now gone.
"The kids are all in the family room, they tried to wait up for you but ended up falling asleep." Klaus lightly chuckles.
They both walk into the room to see Hope and Josie passed out on one couch and then Lizzie being squished between her two brothers on another couch.
"Awe." Camilla cooes as her eyes light up in happiness and Klaus chuckles again at her inner mother coming out. "They're so cute, I love it when they all get along."
"Don't be silly love, Lizzies over there because she tried pushing Hope off the couch with her magic and the boys had to stop her." He jokes, but was borderline serious.
They both grab a couple of blankets and cover all of the kids, bidding them a silent goodbye with kisses on the forehead.
Heading back through the hallway Camilla looks down both ends of the halls before stopping Klaus and hooking her arms around his neck.
"What're you doing love?" He smiles down at her and wraps his arms around her waist.
"We haven't had any real alone time since I've gotten back..." She trails off suggestively.
Klaus smirks widely before speeding them both off to her room, her loud laughs and small giggles echoing through the quiet hallway.

Caroline was on a mission in the morning. She wanted to take her sister out to lunch, seeing as the last time they had truly been alone was nearly a year ago when she had visited her in Paris.
"I don't think you want to go in there." Elijah amusedly advices her as he attempts to keep up with the determined blonde who was about to enter her sisters room.
"Don't be silly." Caroline scoffs as she slams the door open with a wide smile. Though that smile then turns into one of confusion, and then of horror, but right to back to excitement.
"Oh my god!" She squeals, jumping up and down while clapping her hands. Though Elijah stands in the doorway with a large smirk adorning his face as he faces the wall in respect for Camilla.
Camilla groans loudly and nuzzles her face into Niks neck who tightens his hold on her.
"Elijah, brother." Niklaus calls out in a morning voice that makes Cami shudder. Klaus pulls the white feather comforter up to their shoulders and smiles as he watches his lover attempt to ignore their intrusion.
"Yes Niklaus?" Elijah's amusement was growing.
"While I know your personal department has been running a little slow these past few centuries, as you can clearly see, mine is not. So please leave our room with your not so secret lover." Klaus deadpans, Elijah's face drops but his comment goes ignored by Caroline.
Camillas shoulders shake in laughter but it's ultimately muffled by Klaus's neck.
"Oh my god!" Caroline starts rapidly clapping. "He just called it 'our room!'" She exclaims, turning towards Elijah in excitement.
"Indeed he did." Elijah says, not amused anymore. "Come on, I believe they have some re-dressing to do." He says while holding his hand out for Caroline.
Caroline huffs but shouts on her way out. "Me and you! Lunch! 12 o'clock sharp!"
Camilla groans in fake annoyance. "Yay." She mumbles sarcastically.
Klaus swiftly switched their positions to where she's below him and begins showering her face with light kisses, enjoying her angelic giggles that follow.
"Momma!" Two voices are heard in sync, followed by rapid knocking.
Both Camilla and Klaus' eyes widen as they jump up from the bed attempting to throw clothes on.
"One second babies!" Camilla shouts.
Once she has appropriate clothing on she huffs in exhaustion and before she can open the door Klaus grabs her by the waist, much like he had the night before, and smashes his lips onto hers.
Camilla quietly moans into the kiss and tangles her hands into his curly hair that had grown longer than he usually had let it. She secretly loved it this way.
"I love you." Klaus whispers into the kiss.
"I love you too." She pants as they separate. She slowly turns around, composing herself, and opens the door as Klaus wraps his hands around her waist from behind her and lays his head on her shoulder.
"Mo-" Jace stops his shouts as soon as he lays eyes on his mother and father.
"Dad?" Jace questions dumbfounded, before all of their eyes grow wide.
Klaus' mouth opens and closes as he stutters to respond. "D-did you just call me dad?" His arms tighten around Camilla.
"I-I" Jace is speechless. "Sorry I didn't." He coughs for air when he's suddenly brought into a tight hug. But this feels different from his mother's, and that's when he realizes it's his father hugging him as his mother watches with awe eyes.
"No, no it's okay. I love it." Klaus whispers with happy tears in his eyes.
Noticing Alec in his side view he sees that the boy looks troubled.
Turning towards him he clamps his hand on his shoulder. "You too... son."
Alec smiles widely in return and they both share a hug.
All three men turn their heads in confusion when they hear loud sniffling.
Camilla silently wipes the many tears falling down her cheeks until she realizes they're all watching her. "I'm just so happy." She sobs out.
Klaus laughs loudly at the small blonde and brings both of his arms around her neck and hugs her into his chest.
"Mom." Jace lightly laughs along with Alec.
"It's just... my favorite men are finally all getting along." She begins to sob all over again.
Klaus stiffles the rest of his laughs into her hair and subtly gestures for the boys to go while they can and they both gladly take the opportunity knowing she's in good hands.
Rubbing her back soothingly he kisses her forehead once again.
"You okay princess?" Damon questions as he walks down the hall with Jeremy.
Camilla wordlessly nods her head into Klaus' chest.
They both look towards klaus for an explanation but he simply widens his eyes and shakes his head. They both shrug and turn back down the hallways.
"Now now Love." Klaus tsks. "Shouldn't you start getting ready for lunch with Caroline?"
Camilla sighs loudly and backs away from Klaus' warm embrace. Wiping her under eyes free of tears. "I suppose so."
