Epilogue

"Cami!" He shouts around the fields. Sighing in exasperation he sassily places both hands on his hips. "Love!"

Popping up out of literally nowhere she sends him a cheeky smile, her nose crinkling. He merely sends her a deadpan glance. "You know what's happening today, why must you play games my love?"

"I was preoccupied cleaning the mess you made with your art." She sends him a pointed side glance as they begin walking towards the Salvatore boarding school.

"This is the one time of the year we can see them all, Cami." He sighs, only smiling slightly when she rolls her eyes.

Grabbing ahold of his hand she squeezes it with reassurance. "They're my family too Nik. They're happy, they're all living life in the best way possible. Stop worrying so much."

Klaus rolls his eyes at her nonchalant attitude but Camilla simply laughs at his uptight facade.

They reach the gates of the Salvatore school and place their hands on the entrance.

"Ah!" Camilla groans in pain as they both seem to disappear out of thin air.

"Cami!" A voice yells in utter happiness. Camilla and Klaus quickly turn around noticing they're now on the inside of the gates. Her eyes light up when she notices Kol, Davina, and Freya waiting eagerly for the two.

She sprints into the originals open arms and squeezes as tight as possible. Nearly 8 years after their deaths they're children had done the impossible. They had made the Salvatore boarding school a portal between the afterlife and the living. They can only summon the two once a year because they don't want it to be known to the supernatural public that something like this existed. Let alone the fact that it requires weeks of preparation and a whole lot of magic.

"Three hundred and sixty five days has never felt so long for an original, darling." Kol sighs into her hair.

"Freya." Klaus gives her a small smirk. She smiles back and pulls her younger brother into a long awaited hug.

Camilla soon pulls away from Kol to bring the not so little witch into her embrace. "Davina, how have you been?"

"Never better." Davina smiles. "We visited that place in Peru you recommended last year! It was beautiful."

"It surely didn't hurt that she had a vampire to minimize the travel time." Kol chuckles.

Klaus pulls Camilla back into his arms as they admire the witch and original. It didn't feel like all that long ago when Kol had made it clear he was never going to fall into a woman's trap. And now he was smitten.

"I'm sorry to cut this short." Freya unapologetically smiles. "But I believe there are some people waiting to see you."

"Momma?" Jace calls out as he sprints out of the school with a beaming smile. Even as a twenty six year old he was still the same old momma's boy.

He picks the small blonde up and spins her around off of her feet eliciting a high pitched giggle.

"And what am I?" Klaus says mock offended. "Damon?"

"Pft." A scoff is heard. "You wish."

Camilla smiles as she sees her longtime best friend. "Damon."

"Cami." He shoots her a wink.

Camilla jumps backwards into Klaus's arms when Lizzie, Josie, Hope, and Adelaide appear out of nowhere.

"Sorry it took us so long." Lizzie smirks. "That spell is a pain in the ass."

"Language." Klaus scolds as he's smushed into a group hug. Camilla chuckles. "Where's my sister?"

"Her and Elijah are picking up Rebekah and Marcel from the airport." Freya explains and the couple nods in understanding.

Klaus smiles at the thought of seeing his old friend and son figure. He's brought out of his nostalgia when he realizes Camilla was subtly scanning every inch of the outside property. He eyes the blonde beside him and dramatically sighs. "Just ask already, Cami."

She squeals at the top of her lungs, jumping up and down excitedly. "Where is he? Where is he? Where is he?"

"Who's he?" Kol questions in mock ignorance.

Camilla's face turns dark and he backs away with a nervous chuckle. His eyes dart between her and the door to the school. "Alec! Mate, no more joking around. Come out before she skins me alive."

Everyone falls silent as the door swings open and Cami gasps in awe. Before anyone can even blink she right in front of the man staring at the bundle of joy snoozing comfortably in his arms. The baby slowly opens his eyes to reveal he shared his fathers hazel orbs.

Camilla cooes, her eyes becoming blurry and she breathes in and out in attempts to not cry. "He's perfect, Alec."

Klaus takes a stance next to her staring down at the tiny baby as well. "Being dead and all we didn't get to talk much this past year, where is his mother?" He cautiously questions.

Alec looks to the ground and back up towards his parents, feeling upset his child would never get to have two wonderful parents. "She was a one night stand, she didn't want the baby. If I didn't take Cameron then she would have given him up for adoption."

Camilla frowns at the longing look to have a perfect family in his eyes. "Don't worry baby. You have all of us here for you and this adorable little man right here."

"I know momma." He whispers, staring down at Cameron with adoration.

"Ah, ah, ah." Damon tutts as the four sisters start slowly creeping up to the baby. "You know the rules."

They all sigh. "Mom gets dibs." They say in sync.

Camilla carefully takes the baby out of her sons arms and brings him close enough to snuggle her head into his own.

"I can't believe Cami is a grandma now." Kol winces, Davina punches his side.

"And Nik a grandfather." A new voice pops up.

Everyone turns and smiles as they see Rebekah and Marcel getting out of Caroline's car with the couple in tow.

"Rebekah." Klaus genuinely smiles.

"I couldn't miss it." She smiles back. The couple each give each other hugs, Cami's being a side hug refusing to let go of the angel in her arms. "We will always end up in this dreary old town every year, won't we?"

"Well you couldn't stay away from your big brother now could you?" Klaus smirks.

"You know, I use to run away from you every chance I got." Rebekah sighs. "Now I can't get enough of you. Once a year rubbish."

Everyone frowns, they always try to keep this one day a year a happy day but time never lets them forget that this is all they will ever have.

One day a year.

Caroline joins Camilla's side, sharing a silent greeting and Elijah Klaus's.

Cameron's small giggle cuts through the tension and they all focus their attention on the happy baby.

"I regret nothing." Camilla says to all of her family around her but keeps her eyes on Cameron. "Everything happens for a reason."

"Come on everyone! Huddle together for our yearly photo!" Caroline shouts as she sees the sun is in perfect position.

"Wait who's going to take the photo?" Hope questions looking around at everyone as all their faces drop.

Klaus growls in annoyance looking at all the adults. "You idiots have three hundred and sixty four days to find someone to take one photo and yet every year we end up in this predicament."

"I can take it."

Everyone's heads snap to the new comer and their eyes all widen.

"Stefan." Camilla breathes out in shock.

He sends her a small smile. "I figured I couldn't miss it for the eighth year in a row."

"Uncle Stefan!" All of the girls yell in sync, jumping into his arms.

"It's about time brother." Damon smiles, Elena beside him shocked.

She turns to him. "Did you know about this?"

He scoffs. "Of course I did, my little bro tells me everything."

Stefan rolls his eyes knowing he didn't tell anyone about his decision to finally come.

"You can't take the picture!" Camilla scolds. "Jace go get one of the students. And for the love of god please this time make sure they're older than six."

"It was one time." He stresses but everyone simply laughs at him.

Elena turns toward Camilla with an apologetic smile. "Jeremy wanted me to let you know he's sorry he couldn't be here this year. Same with Bonnie and Enzo."

Camilla waves her off. "It's okay, I understand. Little Jeremy has a pregnant wife and two little children so flying all the way from Denver seems a bit excessive. And Bonnie and Enzo are off helping covens so no harm done."

Elena smiles and nods her head.

MJ walks out of the school with Jace behind him holding a camera. "Finally." Klaus sighs.

"Oh bloody hell, Nik." Rebekah scolds. "Be grateful you're here at all."

"Yeah dad, next year we might just have to forget to summon you and accidentally only bring mom." Adelaide teases.

"That I wouldn't mind." Kol adds in.

"Whatever." Klaus scoffs. "You lot would miss me too much."

"Okay! Okay! Enough! Everyone get in their places!" Caroline yells.

Camilla and Klaus stand in the middle holding Cameron with Stefan, Elijah, Caroline, Damon, and Kol behind them. All of Camilla's kids sit on the ground in front of the group while everyone else piles in on the sides.

"Alright everyone say-" Caroline is cut off by Hope.

"Actually can I do it this year?" She questions with slightly nervous eyes.

Camilla eyes her suspiciously. "Of course, baby."

"Okay." Hope takes a deep breath.

"Everyone say 'I'm engaged!"

"WHA-" Klaus yells. While everyone turns to her in shock.

The camera flashes, catching all their shocked expressions and Hope smiling sheepishly.
