THE TEENAGER GOT out of cover and shot a web at the water monster. Unsurprisingly, it went through it. Y/N scoffed.
"Shooting webs at water? What was I thinking?"
The monster looked at a bridge ahead. Y/N saw it too and noticed a group of people running across it. He assumed it was going to attack them.
"Oh, no, you don't."
Y/N ran off a broken set of stairs and hopped across the beams on the water. He jumped off the last peg and grabbed a long stick, using it to propel himself up onto the crossing.
"You okay?" Y/N asked a man who tripped. He helped him up and pushed him away. "Get out of here. Go!"
Y/N looked back right when the monster punched down in the immediate area he was in. The sheer force of the water monster's hit broke the concrete balustrade in front of him and also sent him several yards back.
He hit the railing on the opposite side. Y/N was drenched and gasping for air. It felt like he had just belly-flopped into a pool off of a two-story building.
Suddenly, he heard the sound of an energy beam hitting the monster. He looked ahead and saw the green hue of the projectile before hearing what sounded like a jet in the sky.
A figure with green smoke trailing him came to the scene. It stopped above the water monster and brandished green triangle constructs on his palms.
The mysterious newcomer began to combat the monster. Y/N noticed a masquerade mask on the floor and he quickly put it on to hide his face.
The monster had grown bigger and the stranger continued to fight it. Y/N perched on a nearby rooftop and called out to them.
"Excuse me, sir! I can help! Let me help!" He shouted. "I'm very strong and sticky!"
"I need to lead it away from the canals!" The man shouted back before flying away.
The monster followed, tearing down the structure Y/N was perched on but the web-slinger flipped off of them.
He swung to a nearby rooftop and watched the monster chase the super-powered stranger. The massive size of the water beast let it break through bridges and tear down nearby structures. Y/N noticed the wall of one building started to collapse and he swung over to salvage it.
Y/N leaped through the windows and stuck webbing to the integral parts of the building. He recalled his experience with the Staten Island Ferry and wanted this to succeed as well.
After saving the building, Y/N chased after the monster. It clobbered through the town as it followed the stranger. It damaged a bell tower in the process which Y/N took notice of. It began to crumble and would inevitably collapse soon.
"Oh, come on!" Y/N muttered and swung over to the tower.
He looped around the bell tower and shot webbing into the cracks. Y/N propelled himself up onto the top and took a breath. He took off his mask and looked down into the courtyard, seeing the monster and stranger continuing their fight.
A powerful stream of water hit the tower again, causing more cracks to form and damaging it further. Y/N stumbled as it began to lean.
"Really?"
Y/N began to think. He glanced at another structure nearby and shot a web-line at it. He held it with his right hand and shot another line at a building across the courtyard. He grasped it with his other hand and held on.
Below, the stranger flew around the monster but was hit by another powerful stream of water. He hit the side of the tower and the jolt caused Y/N to hit his head on the bell in front of him. He was still able to hold on, though.
"Ugh..." He groaned.
Gravity started to pull him forward and he held on to the web lines. He planted his foot on the ground and shot back up, but hit his head on the bell again. This time, he let go of the ropes.
He took a second to recover and quickly shot two more web-lines at a structure nearby. He held on again and planted his feet on a column, using his super-strength to keep the tower from collapsing onto the courtyard.
The stranger continued to fight the monster. He conjured a construct above that shot green fog and held the beast in place. It tried to attack him, but he conjured more of them and held both its fists up.
With a swift movement, he opened up his arms and used the fog to disperse the water monster. It split apart into separate halves of water before splashing onto the ground.
Y/N groaned as he maneuvered the tower toward the canal. He finally eased his grip and let it crash by the water, keeping the remaining civilians in the courtyard safe.
Bystanders who were witnessing the battle applauded and cheered for the stranger. The armored man wearing a mist-filled dome looked on and saluted before flying away.
Y/N got out of the wrecked tower and panted. He reached into his pocket and took out the small case containing MJ's gift. He let out a sigh of relief upon seeing it.
The necklace was still intact.

LATER THAT NIGHT, the group was back in their run-down hotel. Outside, patrol boats made routine checks through the canal. Inside, the students looked online for stories on the attack and watched the local news broadcast.
"It's aliens. It has to be." Ned said as he looked at his laptop. Betty was over his shoulder looking into her phone.
Flash went over to them. He also had his phone and was reading from it.
"Buzzfeed says there's a sailor named Morris Bench who was exposed to an experimental underwater generator and got hydro powers." He paused for a moment. "That's sick. He's like...Hydro-Man."
"Yeah, Eugene, you should definitely believe everything you read on the internet." Gwen said in a sarcastic tone.
Flash scoffed, mostly annoyed that she called him by his real name. He ignored her remark and said what was on his mind.
"Spider-Man could take him. Maybe even Iron Boy."
Peter was standing by the steps near Gwen and MJ. He decided to chime in. "Um, it's Silver Centurion."
"I didn't ask, Parker."
Peter grinned and gave a thumbs up at his response.
Mr. Harrington and Mr. Dell paid close attention to the news story being told on the small television in the lobby.
"What do you think it is?" Mr. Harrington asked.
"Being a man of science..." Mr. Dell thought for a moment. "...witches."
A/N: I just gotta say that the duo of Harrington and Dell is underrated lol
"Witches?"
"No doubt. If one could take a whole town in New Jersey hostage, who's to say they can't create that?"
On the other side of the room, Y/N was speaking with his dad on the phone. He heard about what happened in Venice and asked if he and Peter wanted to cut their trip short and come home.
"No, no, no. We wanna stay." He said.
"It's a good thing I packed your suit. See? May knows best."
"Yeah."
"So who was that guy you were with? Was it that wizard...what is his name...?"
"Doctor Strange. But no, it wasn't him. I don't know, this is some new guy."
Michael spoke to someone else while on the call. "Happy, pass me another one."
Y/N rose a brow. "Happy's there?"
"Yeah, I'm at his place right now. He was in charge of taking care of Morgan for the day while Miss Potts's on business. I decided to bring Anya too for a little play date."
"Oh. That's nice."
"Cool guy for the last couple of years I've known him. Did you know he likes Downtown Abbey? I didn't think I'd ever find someone that watches it too."
"I'm...happy for you...? I guess."
"Anyways, how's everything else going? With your friends? MJ?"
"Really well. And MJ and I are having a blast."
"...Remember, buddy, use protection if it comes to it. In a pocket within your luggage, I put a fewโ"
"Okay, dad. All right. Thank you."
Michael chuckled. "Love ya, champ."
"Love you too. Bye."
Y/N hung up the call. He started walking toward the staircase where two of his friends and girlfriend were while the others looked at the television.
"Who is that guy?" Betty asked.
"He's like Iron Man and Thor rolled into one." Brad replied in amazement.
Flash scoffed. "He's all right. He's no Spider-Man."
MJ chuckled. Flash has idolized the hero for so long and it was ironic that he's been unknowingly bullying the person under the mask.
"What is it with you and Spider-Man?" She asked.
"He's just awesome. Okay? He protects the neighborhood and he's inspiring." He replied. "He inspires me to be a better man."
Flash finished his statement and finally noticed Y/N in the room. He smirked.
"What's up, dickwad? I thought you drowned."
He ignored Flash's jab and paid attention to the news broadcast. They spoke in Italian and Brad caught what they were calling the stranger.
"Sounds like his name's Mysterio." He told them.
"L'uomo del misterio is Italian for the man of mystery. They don't actually know who he is." Gwen corrected.
Ned nodded. "Mysterio..."
Betty was also intrigued. In unison, she and Ned said the same thing. "Cool name."
They faced each other in surprise and spoke in unison again. "Babe."
It was time for everyone to go to bed. Y/N, Ned, and Peter were talking in the hallway as they walked to their room. Y/N had his toothbrush and toothpaste in hand.
"What are you gonna do about the water monster?" Ned asked.
"It's dead, bro." Y/N replied. "And even if it somehow resurrects, I'm giving the reigns to Peter 'cause I'm sure as hell not doing it again."
"I'm sorry I didn't help. I left the watch containing my suit here." He replied. "And even I didn't, what the heck was I gonna do against water?"
"It's fine. There shouldn't be any more surprises during this trip." He put the brush in his mouth and hit the side of Peter's arm. "We're going to Paris tomorrow. How's it gonna go with Gwen?"
"You know...the time we spent alone while MJ was with you went well. I think she really likes me. So, I'm gonna make my move there."
They entered their room and shut the door. Y/N made his way to the sink and continued brushing his teeth there.
"That's nice." Ned said. "Reminds me of when Betty and I first fell in love. I had just finished my fruit cobbler, right, andโ"
Ned suddenly stopped once a tranquilizer dart hit his neck. His limp body fell onto the nearby couch and the noise of the springs caught the attention of both Y/N and Peter.
"You two are very difficult to contact..." A voice spoke from the shadows.
They looked back and saw a man sitting in a chair. He had his legs crossed holding a small gun and had an eyepatch.
"...Spider-Man and Silver Centurion."
"You're Nick Fury..." Peter said in awe. He glanced at Y/N. "And he got my name right. Wow."
Y/N ignored Peter, still baffled at Fury's sudden appearance and the fact that Ned's body was on the couch.
"You just shot Ned." Y/N said in disbelief.
"It's just a mild tranquilizer. He'll be all right." He replied, then brought his attention back to the teenagers.
"So good to finally meet you. I saw you at the funeral but I didn't think it was a good time to exchange numbers."
"No. That would've been really inappropriate." Peter said.
"That's what I just said."
"Right."
"The important thing is, your here. I tried to bring you here. You avoided me, and now you're here. What a coincidence."
"Wait. Was this a coincidence?" Y/N asked.
"I used to know everything. I come back five years later, and now I know nothing. No intel, no team. And a couple of high school kids are dodging my calls."
Y/N and Peter didn't know what to say. They let the man continue speaking and he brought out a device that he placed on the table. It displayed a hologram of the planet and other screens.
"Here's what I do know: A week ago, a village in Mexico was wiped out by a cyclone. Witnesses say that cyclone had a face."
Ned started to snore. Fury stopped speaking a moment but continued.
"Three days later, a similar event in Morocco. A village wasโ"
A knock at the door stopped him in his tracks. Fury aimed his tranquilizer gun at the door and Mr. Harrington peeked in just enough to not notice Fury in the room.
"Just making the rounds. See if anyone needs any emotional counseling after today's traumatic events." He spoke to Y/N and Peter.
"No, we're fine." He looked at Peter. "Right?"
"Yeah, we're okay. Thank you."
Mr. Harrington nodded. "Great, because I'm not...I'm not actually qualified to actuallyโ"
Ned's snore interrupted the chaperone and he quieted down after noticing him.
"Oh, he's passed out." He whispered. "I'm not actually qualified to do it anyway, so good night."
He closed the door. Y/N looked at Fury and could tell he was annoyed about having to stop his explanation.
"That was our teacher. Sorry about that. You were saying?"
He continued. "A village was destroyed by what may well be another world-threateningโ"
Another knock from the other door interrupted Fury. Betty spoke softly from the other side.
"Babe, you still awake? You're not answering any of my texts?"
Peter chose to respond. "Um...he's asleep, Betty."
"Oh. Already?"
"Mmhmm. Yeah."
"Okay."
She left. Nick Fury chose to continue where he left off.
"That's why it is imperativeโ"
Another knock stopped Fury. Mr. Dell spoke to the teenagers from outside in the hallway.
"Hey, boys. So that canal water today was filled with dangerous bacteria..."
Fury turned to the boys and spoke over Mr. Dell.
"Another person touches that door, we are going to attend another funeral." Fury grabbed the device from the table and pocketed it. "Suit up."

FURY, PETER, AND Y/N were on a small boat going down the canal. Y/N wore his Stark-issued Spider-Man suit while Peter had his armor on. Both had their masks/helmets.
Fury handed Peter a small case. "Stark left these for you."
"Really?" He asked and grabbed it.
The teenager opened it, revealing a pair of glasses within. Peter lightly chuckled since he could picture his late mentor sporting such eyewear.
"Glasses, huh?" Y/N asked. It didn't really matter to him if Stark didn't give him anything. "Knowing him, it's not just any normal pair."
"Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown." Fury quoted.
"Henry IV?" Y/N asked, remembering the line in one of his English classes.
Fury looked at him, surprised by the fact he understood it.
"Stark thought y'all wouldn't get that because it isn't a Star Wars reference." He replied. "I guess you do pay attention in school."
Sometime later, they made it to a hideout Fury and his team was at. They walked through the corridor and entered the main area.
"You both can lose the masks. Everyone here has seen you without them." Fury said. "You'd only be feigning anonymity, as well as breathing through spandex and fogging up your visors for no good reason."
Y/N took off his mask and Peter retracted his helmet. They continued walking through the room as Fury introduced them to the members.
"Over there, we have Maria Hill." He then pointed at a man holding a rifle. "That is Dimitri." He walked up near a console and presented another man. "And this is Mr. Beck."
He turned around and faced the two boys. Y/N arched a brow, remembering him as the stranger from the battle versus the water monster.
"Mysterio?" He asked.
"What?"
He brushed it off. "Doesn't matter. It's just what our friends have been calling you."
"Well, you can call me Quentin." He replied and went over to shake his hand. "You handled yourself well out there today. I saw what you did with that tower."
"No biggie." Y/N simply replied.
Beck looked at Peter and shook his hand next. "And I've heard about you too, Peter. What you both do is no easy feat."
"It's what we do." He replied.
Beck nodded. "That's what I like to hear. We could've used people like you on my world."
"I'm sorry? Your world?" Y/N asked.
"Mr. Beck is from Earth. Just not yours." Fury chimed in.
"There are multiple realities." Quentin began as he walked over to the console. "This is Earth, Dimension 616. I'm from Earth 833."
"Whoa. I'm sorry." Peter shuffled over to the console and faced Beck. "Are you saying there's a multiverse?"
"That's insane." Y/N added. "I thought it was theoretical. That completely changes how we understand the initial singularity..."
Peter cut in. "Now we're talking about an eternal inflation system."
"How does that even work with all the quantumโ"
Fury and other agents watched as the teenagers talked back and forth. They stopped after feeling their gazes on them amidst the silence of the room.
"Sorry. It's just...really cool." Peter apologized.
Beck looked at the boys. "Don't ever apologize for being the smartest in the room."
They smiled at Beck's words. Hill scoffed and looked at her computer. "Anyways..."
She activated a hologram that popped out of the main console. Quentin Beck began to explain their current circumstances.
"These creatures...they were formed from the primary elements. Air, water, fire, earth. The Science Division had a technical name but we just called them Elementals."
"Versions of them exist across our mythologies." Maria said.
"Turns out, the myths are real." Beck added.
"Like Thor." Peter said. "Thor was a myth, now we study him in our physics class."
"These myths are threats." Fury cut in.
Beck continued. "They first materialized on my Earth years ago. These creatures acted alone for some time before someone was able to somehow control them...mobilize them."
The hologram changed from the visuals of the Elementals to a 3D figure of one person. Whatever armor they had contained electricity surging through it and in some way they didn't look human at all.
"We called him the Living Laser. His abilities combined with the growing strength of the Elementals were no match for us. I was part of the last battalion left trying to stop them. But all we did was delay the inevitable..."
The hologram of the Earth started to burn, likely signifying what had happened to his world.
"They are here now, attacking the same coordinates. Our satellites confirm it." Hill said.
Fury sat down. "So thank Mr. Beck for destroying the other three. There's only one left. Fire."
"The strongest of them all. The one that destroyed my earth alongside Living Laser. They're the ones that took my family." Beck said dejectedly as he fiddled with the ring on his finger.
The two boys took notice. Peter swallowed and looked down.
"I'm sorry."
"They will be in Prague in approximately 48 hours." Maria said.
"We have one mission: kill it and stop the man mobilizing it. You two are coming with us." Fury told the teenagers.
Y/N looked at Maria and then back at Fury. "Prague? But...we're going to Paris tomorrow."
"Mr. Fury, this all seems like big-time superhero stuff. I'm trying just to enjoy this trip." Peter also said.
Y/N looked at Fury. "Besides...we're sorta kinda grounded heroes. I mean...I'm just a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man."
"Bitch, please. You've been to space." Nick shot back with a scoff.
"Not on purpose." He went over to the former director. "There's gotta be someone else you can call. What about Thor?"
"Off-world." He replied.
"Okay...um, Doctor Strange?"
"Unavailable." Maria butted.
Y/N remembered the time he helped Sam Wilson those months ago. "Captain America?"
"Whereabouts unknown."
"I mean Wilson."
He arched a brow. "Who?"
Y/N exhaled. Peter decided to give another name.
"Captain Marvel?"
"Don't invoke her name." Fury responded in a cold tone.
"Look, sir, I really want to help. I do. But I can't just abandon this class trip." He looked down at his suit. "And if I'm seen like this in Europe after the Washington Monument, my whole class will figure out who I am and then...then the whole world will figure out who I am and then I'm done."
Peter felt the same way but didn't vocalize his thoughts. What Y/N explained was exactly what he would go through if things went awry.
Fury looked at the teenager and stared at him. He looked to Peter next. "Do you feel the same way, Parker?"
The boy gave a simple nod. Nick continued staring at them.
"Okay. I understand."
Peter raised a brow. "You do?"
"Why don't you get back before your teachers miss you and become suspicious." He replied rather mockingly. He called out to one of his agents. "Dimitri! Take them back to their hotels, please."
The agent nodded and put down his rifle. Y/N sighed and looked back at Fury.
"Thank you, Mr. Fury. And, uh, good luck."
He started to walk away and Peter followed him. They passed by Quentin, who gave them a soft smile. "See you around."
"Yeah...see you." Y/N replied and continued walking.
"Bye, ma'am." Peter bid farewell to Maria Hill, but the agent didn't reply. He turned back around and walked out of the room.

THE NEXT DAY the class was packing up to travel to Paris. Y/N walked out of the hotel carrying his luggage and met up with Peter and Ned who were outside.
"Ned? Are you sure you're good?" He asked wondering if he had any side effects from being shot with a dart last night.
"Oh, dude, I'm fine. Seriously. Getting tranq'd in the neck by Nick Fury, probably the coolest thing to ever happen to me anyway."
"That is pretty awesome." Peter remarked with a chuckle.
"Right." Y/N said. "I'm just happy we don't have to go to Prague."
Mr. Harrington came out of the hotel and suddenly called out to the students waiting outside.
"Good news. We're going to Prague!"
Y/N had to do a double-take. He watched his teacher walk over to the group with a smile on his face.
"Wait. What?" He asked.
Everybody else was confused as well. Mr. Harrington began to explain.
"Yeah. Tour company called. They upgraded us. You should've heard me on the phone with them. I really gave them hell."
"All I heard was crying." Mr. Dell chimed in.
The teachers told the students to follow them to their transportation that was parked on the other side of the hotel.
"Look at our upgraded ride." Mr. Harrington said.
They all saw the large fancy bus that was reserved for them. The students mumbled to themselves and were happy to get such a perk.
"I'm impressed, Mr. Harrington." Mr. Dell called out.
"Oh, boy." Peter breathed out.
"What...what is going on?" Ned asked them.
Y/N looked at the bus and noticed a familiar-looking man by the door posing as their driver. It was Dimitri. Mr. Harrington tried to introduce himself to the man but he didn't greet him back.
"I think Nick Fury just highjacked our summer vacation." He answered.
Ned stood there for a moment before smiling and walking forward. "Awesome."
Peter sighed and shrugged, choosing to follow his friend to the bus. Y/N let an exhale as well.
"Yeah. Awesome."
