THEY PARKED ACROSS the street from the apartment building. Y/N exited the car and went to the open trunk where he took out the briefcase. Rhodey, wearing his uniform, came out from the driver's side and closed the door.
"Again, thank you for taking the time to bring me out here." Y/N said as he closed the trunk.
"Not a problem." He replied. "Besides, someone's gotta tell your dad that everything went well."
"I would've expected that to be Stark's job."
"Well, aside from him still being sour about what you did, he's pretty busy. But that's why I'm here."
The two began to walk together toward the building. Y/N looked down at the case he was holding.
"I'm surprised he's letting me keep this suit if he's still pissed." He remarked.
"He wasn't going to at first. But with a little convincing...guilt-tripping actually...he decided otherwise." The colonel said. "What you said back at the airport stuck with him."
"Really?"
Rhodey nodded. "And you went out of your way to help me when you didn't have to. You could've bolted."
Y/N let out a sigh and looked up at him. "I do what I do because I want to help people. I made a promise to never let anybody else get hurt because of my inaction."
"And that's why you're here and not in prison." He replied.
"Right." Y/N thought about Captain America and his team. "Are the others gonna stay in there for a long time?"
"Hope not. Maybe there'll be a way for them to get lighter sentences. It's up to the system now...well...Ross's system."
"Cap's still out there. I'm not saying I know anything...but maybe he can break them out. Like in those movies."
"Romanoff out there too. And knowing them two...I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled it off." Rhodey began to whisper. "Don't tell anybody I said this...but I sure wouldn't oppose it."
Y/N chuckled with the colonel as they walked into the building. They took the elevator up to the boy's floor and made it to his apartment. Y/N was going to unlock the door with his key, but Michael was already opening it.
"Y/N!" He said with a beaming smile.
"Hey, dad." He greeted with a hug.
Rhodey smiled as well as he looked at the two. Michael noticed the colonel and extended his hand.
"Colonel Rhodes." He also greeted. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Good evening, Mr. L/N." The man shook his hand. "I'm here bringing Y/N home. I apologize that Tony couldn't do so himself."
"It's all right. You're all busy folk. Besides, I heard about what went on in Germany. I hope everything's all right."
Y/N looked to Rhodey, who was calm and composed at his statement.
"Everything's as it should be." He replied. "Aside from that, your son did really well at the retreat. Tony and I are looking forward to continuing working with him."
"You're part of the September Foundation too?" Michael asked.
He nodded, all though it was a lie. "Of course.ย I had to partner up with my fellow M.I.T grad."
"Oh, right." He replied with a chuckle.
Rhodey began to bid farewell. "Well, I better get going."
"Mr. Rhodes." Y/N abruptly spoke. "Can I ask for a favor?"
"Sure."
"Um...I have a friend. His name is Peter Parker. He's a big fan of Stark and has a brilliant mind. You think there's a way to get him in on this scholarship too?"
Rhodey nodded, then smiled. He remembered that the boy's friend was his partner in the science fair Tony mentioned once.
"I think we can work something out." He replied. "I'll speak with Tony."
"Thank you."
"You two have a good night." Rhodey bid farewell and walked down the hallway.
Michael closed the door and looked back at his son who was walking away. He noticed the steel case he was holding.
"What's with the case?" He asked.
"Uh..." Y/N stopped. "They gave me it. I...um...lost the other one I took."
"That's nice of them." He replied. "You hungry? I didn't make any food but we can order something."
"Sure. Let me just go unpack." Y/N said and went to his room.
The teenager closed the door and made sure to lock it. He put the case down and unlocked the latch, causing it to pop open. His new Spider-Man suit was displayed in front of him, and Y/N was in awe like the first time he saw it.
"Wait until Pete and Ned get a look at this." He muttered to himself. "No more dressing like a pay-per-view wrestler."
Y/N closed the case and put it under his bed. The teenager took a breath and left his room to join his father in the kitchen.

IT WAS A SHORTENED school day and Y/N had finished his last final exam. Students immediately stormed out of their classrooms once the bell rang and they filled the hallways.
Y/N joined Peter outside where they stood by an empty table. His friend was eager to know more about what transpired during his trip abroad, especially after hearing that Spider-Man was with the Avengers.
"Did you actually get to fight the Winter Soldier?" He asked.
"No." Y/N replied. "We were technically on the same team."
"Then who did you fight?"
"Um...some dude in a panther costume. And Black Widow."
Peter's eyes widened. "You fought Black Widow?"
"Yeah."
"She didn't kill you?"
"Thankfully, no. But I wouldn't have minded going out between her legs, you know what I'm saying?"
"Funny." Peter said with a chuckle.
Suddenly, Ned joined up with the duo. "Hey, guys."
"Ned! I'm glad you're here. I got something to show you both." Y/N said and took out a camera from his backpack.
Like Peter, Ned had heard about what transpired in Germany. "Is this about the airport? Who did you fight? Why did you fight? Howโ"
"He fought Black Widow." Peter interjected.
Ned's jaw dropped. "You fought Black Widow? Oh, my God! How are you not dead? What does she smell like? Who won?"
"That's a lot of questions." Y/N remarked.
"Did she do that leg-lock she always does?"
"She did."
Ned nodded. "Rad. I wouldn't have minded dying that way."
"That's what I said!" Y/N chuckled and looked back at Peter, who shook his head with a laugh at his two friends.
"Anyways." Y/N continued and turned on the camera. "Check this out."
The video started with Y/N visiting Avengers Compound where Tony gave him his new suit. It then cut to him landing in Germany and going to the hotel. Tony's colleague, Happy Hogan, was often in the video looking annoyed at the teenager's antics. It then switched to the moment before Y/N was called by Tony at the airport.
"Oh, wow. There's Captain America, there's Iron Man. Black Widow. Woah, who's that other guy?"
"Underoos!"
"All right. Here goes nothing." Y/N pointed the camera at himself. "If you see this Mr. Stark, I apologize."
Spider-Man put the camera down and quickly leaped onto the scene, where he would ultimately switch sides and join Rogers's team.
"What the hell?" Ned exclaimed. "You just threw Cap's shield at Iron Man!"
"...I said sorry afterward." Y/N replied.
"You played some double-agent role or something?" Peter asked.
"I guess you could say that."
Suddenly, MJ and Gwen arrived while the trio was watching their video. Gwen's voice startled them.
"What you watching?"
Y/N immediately turned the camera off. Peter and Ned just stood there with them either scratching their necks or fiddling with their hands.
"We're just...checking out my camera. I'm debating whether to get a new one." Y/N replied.
"This one looks perfectly fine." MJ said as she took it. Y/N would've snatched it back but he remained nonchalant.
"I want something better. I'm debating on starting...a vlogging channel." He said.
MJ arched a brow. "A vlogging channel?"
"Yup."
"Like the ones you see on YouTube?"
"Uh-huh. Then maybe I can move on to gaming. Then music."
"Don't forget reactions." Ned chimed in.
Y/N pointed at him. "Reactions. Exactly. We can rake in the money."
"You do all that, you're gonna need more than just a new camera." MJ said.
"You may be right." Y/N replied. "But you gotta start somewhere."
"Did you vlog your retreat last weekend? You could start by posting that." Gwen said.
"Uh...no. I forgot." He answered. "I didn't come up with this idea until this morning."
"Bummer." She remarked. "How was it anyway? You get to work with Tony Stark?"
"Yeah."
"He ask about the Arc Reactor you and Pete built?"
"The first thing he brought up. He's very proud of that."
Peter smiled. "Holy crap. Really?"
"He'd talk about it all time." Y/N replied.
MJ crossed her arms. "You were with Mr. Stark the whole time?"
"Uh...pretty much." Y/N answered.
"Hm. Did you go with him to Germany then? That's where he was most of the weekend."
Y/N swallowed. Peter and Ned glanced at each other before turning away.
"Well...he was with me most of the time. Until he had to leave...he said he had to meet with a couple of friends."
MJ nodded. "Friends like Spider-Man?"
"...yeah! He was at the airport too, right?"
"Funny how he joined him and the rest of the Avengers in Germany the same weekend as the retreat."
"Right." Y/N said. "Funny."
The situation was getting tense. Y/N was about to say something else, but Ned attempted to alleviate the situation. Keyword: attempted.
"Are you suggesting Y/N is Spider-Man?" He asked in a fake shocked tone, in which Y/N glanced at him.
MJ didn't expect her friend to propose that theory. "I mean...wellโ"
Peter decided to join in. "Plausible theory. But a theory that needs a lot of eyes. You seem to be paying a lot of attention to Y/N then."
"I do not." She snapped back and rubbed the back of her neck. "Nope."
Y/N chuckled, noticing her semi-flustered state. He decided to chime in as well.
"I didn't know you were that interested in me, Michelle." He said.
"I wouldn't say interested." She replied. "I'm more...curious."
"Like Pete said, it's a plausible theory." He went up to MJ and calmly took the camera back. "But that's just it. A theory."
He smiled at her and MJ looked back at him. But unbeknownst to Y/N, she focused on his eyes. Like before, they were the same. She knew it. MJ wasn't 100% sure, but she thought she could play along.
"Right." She said with a smirk. "A theory."
"Uh..." Ned began to speak. "So our second day of finals is done. How about we grab a bite or something?"
"I'm down." Gwen said. "I'm feeling pizza."
"Pizza time?" Peter asked.
"Always." Y/N said, then went over to the table and put his backpack on. He looked back at MJ.
"You down with that, MJ?"
"I don't know..."
"Can't celebrate our aced exams with only four out of the five amigos. I'll even pay."
MJ smiled. "Hard to say no to free food."
Y/N laughed and the group started walking down the campus. Peter glanced at his friend.
"By pay...you mean all of us, right?"

PETER MADE IT HOME after spending time with his friends. He went up to his floor and entered his apartment, where he saw May in the dining room talking with a man. He couldn't tell who it was at first since his back was facing him.
"Hey, May!" He greeted and walked up to the table. "Who's our guest?"
The teenager looked at the man and his jaw dropped upon seeing who it was.
Tony Stark.
He began to stammer. "Uh...I...um...hi! Oh, my gosh. You're Tony Stark."
"Mr. Parker." The billionaire greeted and stood up from his seat. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you."
"It's pleasure to meet you." Peter replied. "Wow! What are you doing here?"
"Mr. Stark here was talking to me about a scholarship program. Something Y/N is also in."
"The September Foundation." Tony clarified. "I'm sorry I didn't come to you earlier, but I'd like to bring you in as well."
"Really?"
"You know how hard it is to harness a fraction of the energy you and Y/N conducted in your homemade reactor? You're a genius, Peter. You are the future. I want more people like you in our program."
"Wow..." Peter still couldn't believe the man was in his apartment and giving him compliments. "I don't know what to say, Mr. Stark."
Tony looked at May. "Can I get a few minutes with him?"
"Sure." She replied.
"Uh...we can talk in my room." Peter said and started to walk down the hallway.
Tony followed him inside and closed the door. He looked around the teenager's room, it looked like Y/N's albeit the furniture being in different spots.
"Again, Mr. Stark..." Peter put down his backpack. "Thank you for this opportunity."
"You can thank Y/N, he referred you to me." Tony replied. "Not surprising since you help build his most essential tools."
Peter immediately realized that Stark knew about his knowledge of Y/N's alter-ego. He let out a chuckle.
"Yeah..."
"You produced the webbing?"
"In chemistry...secretly."
"The gizmo he uses to shoot it out?"
"Metal shop."
Tony nodded. "Wow. That's something all right. What do you plan on majoring in?"
"Lots of things." Peter replied. "Engineering. Biochemistry. Bioengineering..."
"Whew. You going for all that?"
"I can do it."
Tony gave an impressed nod. Peter displayed dedication to his studies and craft. He saw a little bit of himself in the teenager.
"I like that. It's why I think you're a perfect fit for the internship." Tony said.
"Internship?"
"Your gift needs to be utilized. I want you to work with me. Design. Create. Build. Help change the world in a way."
"You're asking a high schooler to help you create stuff?" Peter asked in awe.
"I don't put an age to knowledge. You're far more advanced than anybody I've seen. And there's the potential of being better."
Peter kept smiling, still in disbelief at what he was being told. Tony kept looking at the teenager, smiling as he thought of what he could be in the future.
Maybe a potential successor.
"What do you say, Mr. Parker?" Tony asked. "Is that something you'd be interested in?"
Peter looked back at Tony, beaming as he thought of what was ahead of him. His best friend, Y/N, was helping others and bettering the world as Spider-Man. He thought of how he could the same...in his own way.
"Count me in, Mr. Stark."

HE WALKED OUT of the shop and tossed the empty bottle he had in the bin outside. Y/N continued down the sidewalk when his phone vibrated in his pocket. He looked at it and saw that it was his dad calling.
"Hey." Y/N answered.
"Hey, kiddo. I know I said I was going to be home by four, but I'm gonna have to stay in for a little more at the office."
"That's fine, dad. Do what you have to do."
"You're okay with that? I'll be done in a couple of hours."
"I'll keep myself occupied. Maybe go by Pete's place or something."
"All right. Love ya."
"See you later, dad."
Y/N hung up the call, then looked around before going into an alleyway. His father being at work for a little while more allowed him to do another patrol.
He jogged into a sprint before leaping off a dumpster and sticking to a wall. He crawled up the side of the building before jumping onto the next rooftop. Y/N ran up to the edge of the building and looked out into the street below.
The teenager smiled as he stepped back and took off his shirt, revealing the new Spider-Man suit he had underneath. There was a reason why he chose to wear long-sleeves that day. He took off his pants next and left the bundle of clothes beside a roof vent. He took out his mask next and held it.
"Let's see what the neighborhood has in store today."
Y/N put on his mask and leaped off the building, somersaulting before shooting a web to swing away.
