Episode fanfic title: Trickster and Boom, Game Over!

///////////////////////000///////////////////////

(Cassandra's POV):

Coding is my forte, and I've always been passionate about it. But ever since Prince Ragnar broke my arm, I've struggled to do simple tasks like changing my clothes and showering. (She's wearing a red t-shirt, black jeans and sneakers) Thankfully, Hal suggested that Aya could help me out. I agreed because she's the only one I trust to assist me, even though she's an AI. To me, she's like a younger sister.

Currently, I'm working on the schematics and 'special' codes for the Green Light Club's security system with alien upgrades. This will help Kia and her brothers protect themselves and their families from villains who dare cross them. Although Kia is now a Green Lantern, I'm still doing it as a precaution. The only thing slowing me down is typing with just one hand.

Furthermore, Razer has been constantly fretting over my arm injury and checking on me. While I appreciate his concern, he needs to relax. "Cassandra, do not strain yourself," Razer spoke up without even looking at me, his arms crossed. I matched his posture and replied, "Just because I got hurt doesn't mean I'll strain myself. I know my limits."

My Uncle walks into the main hangar; he's been looking for his missing power battery aboard the Interceptor for the past eight days since the Blue Energy incident happened in Betrassus. I kept thinking about it: "Are you all sure none of you have seen it? It's a Lantern battery for crying out loud." No one said anything, and I sighed in annoyance before shutting my laptop as I stood up to take my computer back to my shared room, not before he responded, "It's not like it grew legs and ran off."

With a heavy, tired sigh, I entered my shared room before placing my laptop on my desk; I then used my free hand to carry the flower that Morgo gave me before I glanced at my entire reflection to see my injured arm and the other arm holding the flower with my eyes filled with sadness; the thought of being grounded and unable to go on missions was unfair. If a lantern had powers of healing a minor injury, I would've been free to do anything:

'If only there were something I could do to find out where that Blue Energy came from... maybe something triggered it to do it. I need to figure out how I can hear that voice again.' I sat on Razer's bed, placing the flower on my lap and talking to it, "Wanna know something?" I continue: "Really? Okay, so eight days ago, blue energy came out of nowhere after fighting Ragnar and the Red Lanterns. All the bad guys started feeling their rings weak, while my Uncle and the others felt powerful by the sudden blue energy coming out of nowhere..."

I paused for a minute before gently touching the petals, soothing them, and starting again. "I felt powerful and noticed that a mysterious voice told me, 'My time will come soon enough.' I was shocked, yet why did it say that to me? No one heard it, and no one believes, not even Razer does... do you think there's hope for me to be a hero like the rest?" No response came from the flower, and a tear fell onto the flower with no reaction.

That's when my flower began beaming small lights around me like I was an old friend; I smiled as I felt myself being comforted by it, making me giggle: "Wow... that tickles." Then it stopped by a sudden voice from behind me, "Cassandra?" I jumped a bit and turned around to see Razer standing at the door, "Damn it, Razer, don't sneak up on me like that."

"My apologies," Razer apologized before continuing, "I just came in to tell you that your Uncle has required everyone in the main hangar." I nodded, quickly putting the flower back on the desk before following him to the main hangar. We both walked in a comfortable silence until I heard and saw Appa's holographic face show up by listening to my Uncle talking badly behind his back.

I snorted and covered my mouth from furthering the laughter in my voice, which was instantly stopped when Appa spoke up that he felt annoyed by his presence, even if he wasn't there. I wish he could be banished from the Council, but that would make me the bad guy, so that's out of the question: "-Yes.-" Appa said, "-Communication with you, 2184, is equally unpleasant.-" "Old grouch." I faked coughing out loud on purpose, which made everyone glance at me in shock.

In contrast, my Uncle winked at me with a side smirk at my comeback as Aya blinked, Kilowog scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, and Razer turned away while I could see his shoulders shaking, indicating that he was silently laughing:

"-However, the Guardians of Oa need you. We have deciphered more of the red lantern plans you obtained from the Shard.-" Appa explained, "-The invasion will begin sooner than expected. Atrocitus plans to enter Guardian space using the Lighthouse.-" This left me confused, as did my Uncle, who glanced at Kilowog and me curiously: "That what now?" "Lighthouse? Appa, do you mind if you elaborate on the 'Lighthouse'?... Please."

Despite my reservations about Appa's complicated personality and prideful issues, I had to muster all my courage to address him by his name. Nevertheless, I stood my ground, and he nodded before explaining its history: "-The Lighthouse was created millions of years ago by a lost civilization to travel through the Maelstrom; however, the asteroid barrier separates the forgotten zone from Guardian space.-

Appa furthered more information, "-When those ancients vanished, the secret of the Lighthouse was lost, sealed for countless millennia. Some years ago, a Green Lantern archeologist named Tauverus made the long trek to the frontier, hoping to find the secret code that would activate the long-dormant Lighthouse. Unfortunately, he disappeared without a trace.-

My Uncle was the first to speak up, "And you're telling us this why?" "-The Red Lantern armada heads for the gate at full speed. We believe Atrocitus may already have the code. If his armada crosses the Maelstrom into Oan space, they will destroy everything in their power. Your job, Green Lanterns, is to get to the Lighthouse first and destroy it by any means necessary.-

Once Appa signed off the call, leaving me in disbelief that there was a way back to Oa, it perplexed me more about him letting us know about the 'Lighthouse' existence, which I then bit my lower lip in deep thought that I was interrupted by my Uncle Hal pointing out: "It's too bad we can't just ask this Tauverus what the code is so we can destroy the Lighthouse from the inside out."

"Maybe Aya and I could look into where he is?" Before I slid my seat next to Aya by helping her search for Tauvuru's last location about the records we could find him, I suggested, "Cassandra is correct; we can do precisely that." "Thanks, Aya!" I happily thanked her, "We can interface with the security system on the prison asteroid; we downloaded their records." Aya then continues, "An inmate named Tauverus is held captive there."

Location: Spider Guild...

After landing the Interceptor, I was allowed to join the team since no action seemed necessary. As we walked, I felt a sense of déjà vu, and Kilowog reminded me of how the yellow stones rendered our rings useless. "Jordan, I hope you remember this," he said. "Don't sweat it," My Uncle replied.

"On the bright side of it all, Kilowog. There's no one to fight." While I walked alongside Razer and Aya, I commented, "It's a friendly prison now, remember? We can trust them."

"I hate it when you say that, Cass. No wonder you act like your Uncle," Kilowog grumbled. Which made me roll my eyes playfully at him, "Green Lanterns! You have been gone too many days." Goggan comes in to welcome us and begins complaining about his position, "Too many! And you promised Goggan that Goggan was only a temporary warden. Goggan work, work, work. Goggan is a slave to work. Maybe prison is better."

I giggle at him at realizing that he is an adorable tiny one-eyed alien squid who comes up to me with a bright smile, "Cassandra! It is so nice to see you again!" I kneeled to his level and patted his head, "It's nice to see you too, Goggan."

"Goodness, what happened to your arm?" Goggan panics worriedly. I sweatdrop by calming him down: "Oh? This? A savage Prince from Betrassus decided to punish me by breaking my arm, but anyway, we need your help."

This caught his attention. He looked at all of us in curiosity, and my Uncle said, "We're looking for a prison that was here when Myglam and his spiders ran the place."

"His name is Tauverus, a Green Lantern," I added.

"The records indicate he is being held on level H, sublevel 6D," Aya told us. Then, while Goggan, the warden, takes us through the ring-neutralizing yellow rocks, Razer and I take notice of how funny Aya is walking as she nearly collapses on the floor; we both catch her in time to lift her from under her arms: "My circuits are experiencing micro failures. The yellow stones are very... draining." We'll take her back to Goggan's office." By him, Aya, and me again, Razer announced, "She'll be safer there."

After we all entered Goggan's office, we placed Aya on a chair to rest, and I began checking her temperature in worry, "Aya, are you okay?" "I am fine, although I feel tired from the energy draining me. It will take me a while to reset again." Aya replied, "Make sure you're properly rested; me and I will stay here with you until you can walk."

She nodded before shutting herself down and automatically began restarting her systems again. Meanwhile, I walked around the office to see a bunch of machinery covered in dusty white cloths that I pulled off with my free hand and widened my eyes in awe:

"Woah, hey, Razer. Check it out!" I excitedly motioned him to come over, and he obeyed and slowly walked around with a bored look, "What am I looking at?" "These are ancient Spider Guild technology. I remember asking Aya while she tutored me about every piece of knowledge I could learn about the Forgotten Zone's computer systems. I bet there's some valuable information stored here." I explained, excited at the potential discoveries we could make.

Razer examined the machinery with me; his interest piqued a bit, "How so?" He deadpans coldly that I was caught off guard and pouted at him before telling him: "The Spider Guild was known for their advanced technology and intelligence network. The only difference is that in Oa's, technology is more infinite. If I can access these systems, we might be able to find records or secrets that could help us in our mission even faster."

I ramble on my geek side, "Plus, it's always fascinating to learn about different cultures and technologies, don't you think?..." I smile only to notice his tense expression that makes me nervous and scratch the back of my neck: "Hehe, sorry, I sometimes ramble about computers and mathematical coding without stopping. If it made you uncomfortable, then tell me."

Razer stared at me with admiration and amusement, "It's fine, Cassandra. Your passion for these things is quite endearing. It's a side of you that not many get to see." I felt a warm flush of happiness at his words, glad that he appreciated this side of me.

"I appreciate your kind words," I said while blushing at his words with a smile, who returned it with his own. But as soon as he looked away, feeling embarrassed, I realized that my feelings for him had made the situation awkward. Though I secretly liked Razer, I knew we had to focus on the task and not let distractions get in our way.

Then I suggested we wait for my Uncle's call and focus on the mission to break the tension. Razer agreed, thankful for the change in topic. Even though I was still trying to understand my feelings for him, I knew it was essential to maintain a professional relationship with him, especially since we were on a dangerous mission.

As we awaited further instructions, Aya finally woke up. She asked what we did during her restart absence, to which Razer explained our discovery without mentioning what had just happened a second ago. This compelled me to tell her afterward until my Uncle contacted us to meet him in one of the prison cells.

We headed there on time before he explained that the Red Lanterns were here trying to find the codes. Luckily, they didn't spot any of us, as we were met by a man with wings like a hawk and a helmet. For some reason, I felt uncomfortable in the man's gaze: "Jordan, you can't believe this pirate is gonna willingly give us the code."

"Trust me. Hey, it does feel better when I say it." My Uncle shot a smirk at Kilowog, who let out an annoyed sigh. They both strode up to Byth Rok, a guy they were dealing with and declared, "Byth, we accept your terms. You and your men will be freed, but the ring stays with us." Byth Rok jumped down from his position and extended his hand to accept the deal. My Uncle glared at him seriously and demanded, "Where I come from, we look a man in the eyes when we seal a deal. Your helmet."

Byth Rok nods and removes his helmet by handing it to Aya, "By the way, I'm in the market for a new wife and not too picky." Aya stares at the helmet before she glances at me and Razer in confusion while I nudge at him to earn him a look that says, 'Is-this-guy-really-serious?' I patiently waited for Byth Rok to stop rambling about marriage, like I'm not interested in that, however... it did come with Razer being my option-OK! STOP IT! I felt flustered and heard:

"My eighth wife, Mailbok, was a Salatio. Word to the wise: never marry a Salatian." He then turns to me, flirtatiously speaking, "What is your beautiful name, darling, ~?" "Cassandra. And the one who is asking about the code to the Lighthouse is my Uncle Hal. Mess with me, and I'll break your legs with one hard kick." Byth Rok leaned closer and said, "My my~ Your eyes...~".

I backed away a little, already uneasy about this guy, and stared at him with a frown, "What about my eyes?" I asked him firmly, failing to hide my stammering voice. He smirked and replied, "Your eyes shine brightly like starlight, and your aggressive attitude intrigues me.~" Despite his flattery, I seemed to have noticed Razer standing next to me in a protective manner:

"Watch it." He may have sneered at Byth like he was trying to protect me, but I saw right through him. He's jealous of Byth's attention toward me. I can't help but hide my amused eyes at Razer's childish behavior as an idea came to me, 'Oh, I wonder how far I can go with testing Razer?~ I gotta see where it goes.' I thought before I "Oh~ really? Then why did you think my feisty attitude?" I winked playfully, watching Razer's jaw clenched in response to my playful banter with Byth, and in complete honesty, I wasn't expecting him to react like that.

Byth chuckled at my response, clearly enjoying the playful exchange. "A woman like you with a feisty attitude is something I never encounter," He continues: "But you know where to find me if you ever change your mind." He smirked, not knowing that Razer's fist had tightened even further to the point that his ring was glowing red. Nonetheless, I need to take action and do whatever it takes to make Byth back off. Razer's attitude has taught me that being assertive and unapologetically cold toward one's enemies is vital.

Pushing Byth off with my hand surprised him, and I said, "I appreciate the flirty compliments, sir, but please keep your distance... plus again. Your. Not. My. Type." My genuine emotions came out coldly, and tensions rose between Razer and Byth; Kilowog quickly defused the situation: "Cassie, stop it. I think it has already been trying to hold in his 'attitude' towards Byth." My Uncle coughs out from scolding me at my actions, I shrug as I glance at Razer who looked away, "Byth, the code."

"Oh, right. Remember this well. It's your key to the Lighthouse and past the Maelstrom. Broadcast "Stretch the hunter's bow and aim true" in gau seven numeric. You'll be good to go."

"Thanks, now, let's get you out of here." When Aya put Byth's helmet on, I noticed the nightmare device was on it. Once he was standing unconscious, I began laughing: "Oh my god, the moment he wakes up, he's so gonna be scared and angry!" "Yup, now we just wait for him to explain the real code." Kilowog proudly said.

As we waited for Byth to tell us the actual code, Razer finally grabbed my arm somewhere in the corner of the prison room and spoke up, his tone slightly irritated: "What was that all about, Cassandra? Flirting with that scumbag?" He hissed. I raised an eyebrow at him, playing innocent like I hadn't flirted with Byth a while ago. "Well, Razer, if I can say something about it, I'd say you were jealous.~"

He continues to be stiff while crossing his arms, "I do not know what you're talking about."

I'm not convinced about his defense. So, I began to poke his cheek playfully: "Really now?~ For a second, I thought you hated me." Razer sighed frustratedly before telling me, "I do not hate you," He suddenly tells me.

As Razer turned away, I stood frozen and confused. He spoke in a way that made it seem like he didn't care about what I did with my life. "You can do anything you want. It's your life, not mine, to control or protect," He said, but the tone of his voice hinted at hurt and sadness. I immediately realized I had gone too far: "Hey," I said firmly, resting my hand gently on his chest, and my gaze was directed upward. He looked at me, surprised by my sudden assertiveness.

It's funny to see him get all worked up over something like that, but it seems to affect Razer, so I spoke again, "I'm sorry... I just... didn't know you were feeling like that." As my hand rested on Razer's armored chest, I felt a sudden wave of guilt over me. But when he turned to face me, I immediately stopped and met his gaze. To my surprise, I blushed when he touched my hand with his gloved one, placing it back on his armored chest. We locked eyes and had a silent moment that made me feel like time had stopped.

But before anything else could happen, my Uncle interrupted us, reminding us of the task. We quickly refocused with the help of Aya's skills and the information we gathered from Byth to decipher the code and gain access to the Lighthouse: "Thank you very much, Byth Rok, for the real code." My Uncle smirked.

"Nice work, Aya." I compliment her, already missing the warm moment with Razer, until I refocus on the mission. Byth looks at us before dramatically getting offended by our trick. "Mind control? You...you tricked me. Me? That's low." "Oh, stop being dramatic! I'm already getting annoyed." I groan in annoyance before making a wrong movement with my injured cast arm, causing me to wince. Razer scolds me instantly, telling me not to use it, and I thank him while assuring him that I'm okay.

"No, we made sure you lived up to your end of the bargain. And now we'll live up to ours."

"Is anyone forgetting the Red Lanterns all over the place?" Razer scolded my Uncle, who spoke again as we hid behind a metal box, saying, "No, but I have a plan. Trust me." Later, we all quietly follow Goggan through a different tunnel that could lead us to the Interceptor, Razer helped Aya while I did my best to keep up the running pace with helping him; Only to hide until Kilowog attacked the Red Lantern Guards with his strength.

Afterward, he handed my Uncle an alien rifle when we saw another Hawkman flying away where the Red Lanterns found us, "Green Lanterns? Destroy them!" The batwoman ordered, making all of us retreat, and I then realized that my Uncle carried me in his arms: "Thanks," "Don't mention it. You okay?" He asked, to which I smiled, hiding that I was jealous about Razer carrying Aya instead of me, but I shook it off, "Never better other than my prideful arm." I teased before he explained that we were inside the Thanagarian section:

"SHUT THE DOOR!" I nod and smashed the door console with my injured cast arm, it hurt like a bitch but I manage to survive, and the door finally shuts down, Hal tells Byth, "Not much time, but it may be enough." He continues: "Byth, we're going to set you free. All of you." Making the rest of the Thanagarians cheer on when I then spoke, "But we need you to do something for us. What we're facing is big. The entire universe is in danger from the menace of the Red Lanterns."

I walk up to him with determination in my silver eyes, "Byth, I know that you have a heart, but if you and your men join our attack, we might succeed." Byth furrowed his eyebrows at me, thinking deeply before he planted a kiss on my cheek, already filled in disgust at him: "That was never part of the deal, but you guys have shown me the error of my ways. I'm traveling a high road from now on."

"Glad we could help. But first," Byth turns around only to be met by a slap across the face, which made the Thanagarians gasp in disbelief and laugh: "That's for flirting and kissing me on the cheek, asshole! Learn some boundaries and get out of here." I turn my back on him, standing next to Kilowog while fuming all my anger.

(Hal's POV):

'I didn't expect that. But good job! Very proud of you.' I thought and snorted but replaced it quickly by commanding Kilowog, "Aim for the roof. Byth, lead your men straight at the warship. Right now!" Byth coughed out: "Ahem. One moment... Men, my every thought and effort has been to free you from this horrible prison." He continued his speech, as my niece said earlier; he needed to stop being dramatic. "Now we have a chance to fight the Red Lanterns, attack their giant battle destroyer on the side of the mighty Green Lanterns.

"Well, I say this isn't our war. We don't need to help them. We should help ourselves by getting out of here as fast as possible. So follow me to freedom!" Everyone begins cheering and follows him as Kilowog growls in rage, "Boy, that double-crossing!" "Wait for it." I cut him off as I took my hand out for him to stay quiet and wait as my plan came to action: "So long, suckers!" Byth shouted, flying off with his men out from the roof of their prison.

I waited a bit until Kilowog looked disgusted by the way, "You let him get away!" "Yes. Yes, I did." I told everyone to hide immediately behind the boulder where Byth had been chained. We then heard the Red Lanterns break into the chamber a few seconds later and saw the hole in the ceiling. They pursue Byth, assuming Cassie and the rest of us are with him.

As soon as they left, I couldn't help but take a glance, and what I saw was nothing short of unexpected. Cassie and Razer were standing side by side without Aya noticing it, and their (Cassie & Razer) hands were intertwined together, slowly and hesitantly. While I initially felt protective, I soon realized that their looks towards each other were unmistakably that of love.

Slowly, I and others emerged from hiding, and on cue, I interrupted their moment (on purpose, of course) and explained, "As soon as they're out of range, we'll leave." "I don't get it." Kilowog looked confused: "We could never have won that fight. And Byth would only run if it was his idea."

"You tricked him? Again, I've underestimated your deviousness." Razer complimented me with a smirk, but I was not easily impressed. It surprised me that he managed to do that. My niece must have left a lasting impact on him, "Good work, Jordan. You got the code, and we got to keep the ring." Kilowog lifts his fist where the other ring was supposed to be, only to discover it's gone: "That thief!"

Cassie laughed, "Well, you did tell him he could have it if he took it from you."

We all laugh except Razer and Aya.
