Episode fanfic title: Where did it all go wrong?
///////////////////////000///////////////////////
Location: Sector 1417, In Betrassus...
(Third Person's POV):
In Betrassus Castle, there were prison chambers where all the criminals were kept for their crimes. Two guards watched at the entrance while Queen Iolande entered with a tray of food and water for her younger brother, Ragnar. He had committed treason by attempting to claim the throne as king, and he had to be imprisoned. To do that, he had to become a green lantern. His actions were unjustified, and they broke his older sister's heart. Despite his past wrongdoings, Iolande still sees him as her little brother and wants to care for him.
"So, you've come to gloat?" Ragnar was seated in his cell while glaring at the woman outside, who showed sympathy for him and spoke:
"That's not why I'm here." Iolande softly defends herself in words, yet her little brother narrows his black eyes at her in annoyance, "The power ring chose you over me." He stated, "You get to be the 'all-powerful Green Lantern Iolande.' And I, your poor, ordinary relation, get to decay in my cell...with no Queen beside me."
The wave of guilt hurt her as her sisterly love for Ragnar, whose greed clouded him, broke Iolande's heart to see him this way. And the mention of having Queen by his side meant that he wanted to have Hal Jordan's niece as his wife; Iolande reminisces the memory of how cute her brother asked her out on a date to her Coronation party, but also the time Cassandra beating the living hell of her brother for trying to force her in a marriage proposal that she instantly gripped a bit of the tray by continuing to speak softly to Ragnar:
"I'd give back a ring if it could change what had happened... unfortunately, you missed the recent visit of Cassandra a few weeks prior-" He cut her off in shock and smiled, "What? She came back? Where is she?"
Iolande confirmed that the woman did stay in the kingdom for three days, but she fell ill, and her Uncle came seeking a cure. Fortunately, Iolande could heal her by transfusing her blood to the woman. This new information left Ragnar in shock and disbelief, causing his blood to sour even further, 'So, she was ill? How can someone special like Cassandra be ill and never inform me? It should be ME who gets to know things first! I'm a king!' He angrily thought before looking away from Iolande and asking, "So, she's a relative now?"
"Yes, she is known as a distant relative now, so marriage with her... cannot happen." Iolande continues, "Yet, you broke my heart... the day you killed Green Lantern Dulak, raised your sword against me, and forced your way to a hand in marriage with Cassandra was a cruel thing." "And, now, I'm your prisoner." Ragnar snarls at her, who smiles a bit by offering a meal for her brother to eat: "But also my brother. And I thought you'd like a good meal."
Enraged, he lashed out at her, pouncing at the cell bars and trying to grab his sister, Queen Iolande, to shout more by stating: "Get out! Get out of here! I should be the Green Lantern, not you!" She became heartbroken and walked away from his cell as he scowled at her. "I hate you, and I'll destroy you all! The Green Lanterns, you, EVERYONE!?!" He grits his teeth in rage and frustration, filled with greed until a red light shines upon him. He later notices a Red Lantern and hears the voice of Atrocitus, the Red Lantern's founder.
Atrocitus told him he had sensed the great rage in him, and because of this, he believed that he would make a delicate Red Lantern. Touched and happy by the opportunity of becoming a lantern of some kind, he willingly took the ring and transformed.
(Cassandra's POV)Back at the Interceptor...
As everyone was enjoying their breakfast, the loud ringtone of the BTS Dynamite song suddenly startled everyone except Aya. Kilowog exclaimed, "What kind of munch-junks sound is that?" My Uncle shook his head and turned to see Razer, who was narrowing his blue eyes at me in annoyance, "Grotz's, can we have a peaceful day for once?" I laughed slightly at their reactions and said, "I'll answer it." I spoke in defeat before taking my cell phone out of my jeans pocket, swiping it to see my best friend's contact name, and talking to Kia.
While on the call, Kilowog asked who MasterGrid was, to which my Uncle explained that it was a codename for my best friend, Kia. I looked at Razer for a moment before returning to Kia's news; she had just told me something shocking, "YOU'RE A WHAT?!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!?"
I jumped up from the couch, and Razer became worried instantly, "Cassandra, what is-?" I placed my finger over his lips to quiet him, unaware he was blushing at the sudden contact, and silenced him: "Not now, Razer... huh? Oh yeah, I can't believe it worked... Yes, Kia... uh-huh, well, don't worry, I'm pretty sure you'll get the hang of being a hero... Hey, you got this! Have hope, love ya best friend... bye!" I ended the call, putting my finger away from Razer by turning around to sit down, showing Aya, Razer, Kilowog, and my Uncle, and showing off one of my biggest smiles about some good news.
Kilowog was the first to ask, "What's up, Cass?"
"I have some exciting news to share! My best friend Kia has become a Green Lantern and has replaced my Uncle's hero on Earth." I smile joyfully, making my Uncle choke on his drink in disbelief. Aya grows curious, while Razer is respectful despite his unjoy. Speaking about Razer, we never discussed our confession from six days ago. Ever since the Star Sapphires incident happened, I couldn't help but wonder and maybe hope when the time comes, he'll be ready to discuss it.
But for now, the focus was on Kia and her new role as a Green Lantern. Everyone had questions and wanted to know more. Aya was particularly intrigued, asking about Kia's powers and how she got chosen. Still trying to process the news, my Uncle asked if Kia was ready for the responsibility. I reassured them all, "Kia is more than ready. I asked Ganthet if I could suggest someone worthy to protect Earth while we were away, Uncle! Which I cannot believe he did. Besides, she's always had a strong sense of justice, and now she has the power to make a difference. She's determined and passionate, just like all the Green Lanterns."
Razer remained silent, observing the conversation, but I could sense a mix of emotions in his eyes. He had always protected me, and now that Kia was a Green Lantern, there was hope for the team to fight all the Red Lanterns from harm's way. I wanted to comfort and let him know everything would be alright, but we both needed time to process everything. As the excitement settled, Kilowog patted me on the back, saying, "Well, ain't that somethin'? Looks like the Green Lantern Corps is growin'."
My Uncle smiled proudly and nodded in agreement. "Having more heroes on our side is always a good thing. We'll make sure to offer Kia any support she might need." Aya, who's always the logical one, suggested, "Perhaps we could arrange a video call with Kia so we can all congratulate her and offer guidance if needed." Razer finally spoke up, his voice filled with concern and sarcasm. "We shouldn't just rely on Kia alone. We need to be prepared for whatever threats may come." Surprised by his unexpected support for Kia, I looked at him gratefully and spoke, "You're right Razer. We'll need to be stronger than ever to protect the Frontier."
Kilowog was the first one to congratulate her, "HA! THIS IS GREAT! We got a recruit just in time to kick some Red Lanterns butt! Ahem, didn't mean ya, Red."
"Not in the least surprised by your words of excitement, Kilowog." Razer sarcastically spoke, like his usual self, "Congratulations are in order, correct?" Aya asked with a smile: "Yup!" Once the excellent cheer was over, Hal got jealous about being replaced, but at least he was okay with it: "Y-Yeah, but first, we need to contact Guardian Appa about the files from Shard."
Hopefully, he doesn't forget about contacting Kia later.
In the main hangar...
Sometime later, my Uncle contacted Appa, also known as the grouchy Guardian of OA, who is shown to use a hologram futuristic video call, and I rolled my eyes at how rude he answered him: "-Green Lantern of Sector 2814; what is the reason for your call?-"
"According to the files Aya downloaded, a massive Red Lantern fleet is headed to Guardian Space." My Uncle informs him, "Naturally, we're wondering if you and the rest of your blue men group have a plan?"
Appa crossed his small arms over his chest, not caring about the question, and returned it with an answer, "-We're deploying the corps to defend against the Invasion.-"
My Uncle widened his domino mask eyes in shock: "What? Did you go right into attack mode? Did you read my report or skim it?" Appa frowned before saying, "Rest assured, your report was submitted to the Council and taken into consideration.-"
This made me leave and stand up by joining the call in disbelief at how much of an idiot this Guardian is, "What's wrong with you? You sounded like you never cared about the Green Lantern Corps except to save your skin. You should think before your actions, grouchy." "-Watch your tone, fleshy. I am a Guardian of OA and do not need to explain myself.-" Appa retorted, his tone cold and dismissive.
My anger started to boil as I clenched my fists, but my Uncle gently placed his hand on my shoulder, silently urging me to calm down. But I slapped it away because I was too angry about Appa's plan. My Uncle spoke up, his voice controlled but firm, "Appa, we must be prepared for this Red Lantern invasion. It's not just about protecting Guardian Space; it's about protecting all the innocent lives at stake. We need a strategic plan."
Appa huffed and replied, "-The Guardians will handle the situation accordingly. The Green Lantern Corps must focus on their assigned sectors and not meddle in Guardian affairs.-" I couldn't hold back my frustration any longer and retorted, "So, you're willing to sacrifice innocent lives just because of some petty jurisdiction? The Green Lantern Corps was founded to protect the universe and fight against threats like the Red Lanterns. We can't afford to be complacent."
Appa's holographic image flickered with annoyance, "-Do not lecture me on the purpose of the Corps, fleshy. The Guardians have reasons for their decisions, and it is not for you or your Uncle to question them. So, what is your point?-" He turned to my Uncle, who stepped closer to the hologram, his voice steady yet filled with determination, "First of all, Appa, don't talk like that to Cassie, and secondly, she's right."
He defended me before sending a wink of approval to me: "The point is that the Red Lanterns are convinced that your army of robot assassins. The Manhunters slaughtered the citizens and annihilated their entire sector. They think it was a calculated attempt to wipe them out." Appa's expression grew sour before he said in annoyance like an old man: "-Yes~, a very dramatic and emotional story, to be sure." He continues, "-Atrocitus merely uses propaganda to rally his troops.-" While Appa and my Uncle continued to go back and forth in the conversation.
I touched my left hip while listening to it with steady breathing to control myself from screaming at the holographic grouchy smurf. Finally, the call ended: "Once I see Appa again... I won't hesitate to put a bomb inside his brain." I said calmly as possible, making Razer chuckle at me, but I was cut short when Kilowog turned around: "Jordan! You've got to hear this!" He called him, and we all turned around to see another message from Aya, who typed down the codes for us to open up the SOS message only to reveal it was coming from Betrassus.
"-Sector 2814, what's going on?-" Appa quickly asked.
"I'm sorry, I have to take this call; we'll finish later," I said before answering. To my surprise, it was Queen Iolande of Betrassus on the other end, requesting immediate assistance due to an attack by the Red Lanterns. My Uncle and I quickly changed course to Betrassus, and I left to grab my laptop to pilot the ship. Razer and Aya came to help, and I directed them to connect the wires correctly. Once we arrived at Betrassus, I parked the ship above the caCastlend and watched as my Uncle and his team went to help.
Suddenly, someone suggested that I could come along. It took me by surprise that Kilowog was the one who suggested it, but of course, it was out of the question. On the other hand, my Uncle and Razer declined it, while Aya and Kilowog agreed: "She might be able to stall the Red Lantern." "Out of the question, do you not realize the danger she is in after everything she has been through?" Razer wasn't happy about it one bit after reminding them about what had happened to me back at Shard.
Yet, there was no time, so my Uncle carried me toward the Castle of Betrassus. After dashing into the throne room, I jumped down from him and stood beside Aya while Kilowog and Razer waited for Queen Iolande to be seen. My Uncle Hal walks up a bit and says, "Queen Iolande?" We were welcomed by a red lantern, only to discover that it was Ragnar. He sits above the chair facing us with his evil grin: "Guess again." Kilowog, however, was furious. "He's a Red." "Well, sh*t." I sarcastically mutter to myself, to listen to the traitor of a prince speak up about thanking us for something.
"Like the outfit? I have you to thank for it after all," Ragnar displays his true self while showing how 'cool' he looks in his Red Lantern suit, which I made an eye roll when three red lanterns show up around us that Razer went in front of me to protect me from harm while the Prince continues, "I used to think that being a Green Lantern would give me everything I ever want. Still, I wasn't good enough, wasn't I? My hate for Green Lanterns gave me everything I ever wanted. And more." His 'royalty' speech was enough to get everyone riled up as the symbol of the Red Lanterns came to show it through the holographic flags around the throne room.
I stood out, "No, you're still the same bald prince who's been spoiled since you were a baby!" "SILENCE! You have no right to speak to a king like that!" Ragnar throws a tantrum, and I shrug it off like a pack of dust, making him grit his teeth in anger: "I rule Betrassus, as it should be." "Where's Iolande?" My Uncle commanded. Ragnar instantly smiled like he had done nothing wrong when, in reality, he did: "Oh, don't worry. She's perfectly fine, or should I say, perfectly confined?" Through his ring, he displays where Iolande is in a jail cell.
That's when the battle started: "We're not leaving without the Queen!" My Uncle shouted, which made Ragnar angry. He shot a red ring blast at him, and everyone began fighting with a fang-looking monster. Kilowog fought with another, and Aya fought with a batwoman. My Uncle ordered Razer to protect me, but he was taken by force to fight Aya's opponent.
I was left alone, with no one watching or protecting me, which I didn't care about because all that mattered was that I needed to help out and find a way to stop the Prince without any hassle. I then saw my Uncle destroying a ceiling on top of the Throne room, and Ragnar got stuck under the debris of the roof after my Uncle, Kilowog, Aya, and Razer disappeared.
Just before he was taken away, Razer noticed a pillar about to collapse onto me and flew towards me, sweeping me off the ground. I wrapped my arms around his neck to hold on tightly, "Are you okay?" "I'm good, just glad that I wasn't left behind like last time," I answered while Razer and I managed to escape the collapsing throne room, where the sounds of the battle echoed behind us, but we couldn't afford to look back. My heart raced as I clung to Razer, simultaneously feeling grateful and terrified.
"Your uncle would end my life if anything happened to you, Cassandra," Razer tells me, and I rolled my eyes before I replied, "You're saying that because you Do care about me, Razer." I wink at him, and a faint blush spreads on his face. He glares and says nothing while I smirk in victory.
Meanwhile, from afar, Ragnar slowly managed to break free and began fuming in rage and hatred at this, "You could have made a perfect Queen, Cassandra... You understood me more than anyone other than my sister will ever be, and I believe we connected... Now I know how foolish love can be, and I WILL MAKE YOU MINE!?!" He angrily yells at the end of his sentence.
Somewhere in the palace...
My Uncle Hal, myself, and others escaped from the area. However, Hal prevented us from getting any closer to the Interceptor. We later discovered that the Interceptor was being guarded by the Red Lanterns, making it impossible for us to escape or rescue Queen Iolande. Aya pointed out: "The Red Lanterns had blocked our access to the ship."
He joked, "I guess that's how we get for parking in a bad neighborhood." "I hate being useless..." I mumbled a bit under my breath without anyone hearing what I said as I gave him a disapproving look. I asked Razer, "You think we could create a distraction?" He coldly responded, "It wouldn't be feasible given our difficult circumstances." I couldn't help but worry about Iolande and hoped we could free her as soon as possible.
We suddenly noticed three Red Lanterns heading towards our hiding spot and quickly hid deeper as they flew past us from above. I felt Razer's grip on my waist tightens, causing my face to flush with embarrassment. I realized how high we were before hearing my Uncle whisper, "Let's go." We flew downward and made our way to the half-lit corridors away from the CaCastleRazer. He put me back on my feet, and I thanked him with a smile, earning a quick nod. The Guards of Betrassus soon surrounded us, and Razer positioned himself before me to protect me from harm as the others did.
A familiar voice echoed towards us, "Hello, Green Lanterns." My silver eyes widened in disbelief to be met with Kothak again; I narrowed at him, taking out his axe weapon, "You made a fatal mistake in returning to Betrassus." Walking towards us, he aims it at my Uncle's neck, whereas I clench my hand in a fist. I want to punch him for tampering with my Uncle but hold it back as I listen to the conversation between them: "Kothak, after all we've been through, you still wanna kill me?"
Before he could respond, he signaled the guards to push us away from being spotted; after the batwoman's red lantern stopped scanning the area for us and disappeared, Kothak let go of my Uncle and told him: "I'm trying to keep us from being spotted. Come." While he leads us with his weapon, he explains the patrols of the Red Lanterns searching for us. As we walked, Aya and I quietly conversed away from the others without their knowledge. I proposed an idea to Aya, but she opposed it. I firmly believe my plan would work, and I tell her that as soon as we all return to the castle, our conversation will end there.
We all were led to an Underground Resistance squad base as Kothak explains: "Ragnar and his new friends captured Iolande and took over Betrassus," He continues while walking down the corridors of the place where the guards and stacks of metal boxes were nearby. A giant hologram computer screen of the city, "I've been leading the Resistance since... But yesterday, things went from bad to unthinkable." We all widen our eyes in horror at the Liberator that my Uncle said, "I can't imagine."
His voice trails off when Razer says, "We must do something immediately, and that device will blow up the planet into dust!" Razer tells my Uncle in fear, whereas I get a flashback of Rev telling me to leave and Razer carrying me away from harm, and I look out at how I feel guilty for not being helpful, "So, you've dealt with this before? How did you defeat?" I came up to Kothak and explained:
"They call it the Liberator; it's also known as a Planet Killer that works as a doomsday bomb." I spoke up and began to point at the picture for Kothak to understand, "The Red Lantern Corps use it because it can shatter an entire planet into shards in mere seconds. They're equipped to hang under directly and can be released from the artificial fortress-like planetoid-like bomber-plane shells. I've seen it been used to destroy Colony 12... it wasn't pretty."
Everyone stared at me in shock that I knew what it could do except Aya; I have to thank her for telling and teaching me what kinds of weapons that alien people use for war, "Oh, just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I don't know shit." Kilowog and my Uncle awkwardly didn't want to tell Kothak about it, but it wasn't a choice; everyone should be honest: "Uh...it didn't go so well."
He wasn't pleased, "Then you all are LESS than useless!" "Hey, Kothak! Just because we all didn't stop doesn't mean we are useless! You think we never tried?" I was stopped by my Uncle, who tried to calm me down, but I snapped real hard and pushed on, "We damn well did, but the fact that Atrocitus was there made it impossible for us to have time to stop the bombs from exploding. Plus, it was our first time encountering him, so don't say we're useless to you! If you don't listen to what my Uncle says, then you are nothing more than an ignorant man with no respect whatsoever!" "Why you-!"
I crossed my arms and waited for him to say anything, only for Kothak to silently glare down at me as I held no fear but bravery. On the other hand, Uncle stopped us from furthering the argument and said: "She's right." He begins, "And we're not quite useless." While he explained further to him, he asked if Kilowog could talk to the Guardians of OA about it; as they continued their discussion, I heard some guards quietly grunting and talking. It piqued my interest, and I left the team circle to check what was happening and found out that the guards were training: "What are you doing?"
"What's it look like? I'm just watching them train." I told Razer, "It's not every day you get to see battle skills like this." Razer looked at me unreadably before replying, "Cassandra, we don't have time for distractions. We need to focus on our mission." He guided me back to the group, where my Uncle had finished his conversation with the Guardians: "So, Red, any chance of getting our ship back?" "I believe we can handle that errand on our own..."
Razer and Aya left, but before they did, I held his hand, which caused him to glance at me, "Be careful." "I will." With words now spoken, I watched them fly away to get to the ship as my Uncle and Kilowog began to form a plan to save Iolande.
Time skip near the Liberator~
"-I'm afraid Ganthet is no longer with the Council.-" Appa announced, making Uncle Hal and me widen our eyes in shock and disbelief. "Where is he?" We asked, only for him to huff at us before stating an excuse to end the call: "-My apologies, 2184 and Cassandra. But, as you say, 'I just got to take this.-' " After that, he swipes off the communication while Iolande and Kilowog use a barrier to protect us from the Liberator's blasters, "What did they say?" She asked.
"We're on our own..." My Uncle said that I instantly felt so mad that I was angry, "How can they do this to us? And Ganthet? He did nothing wrong! Appa can't do this to the Green Lanterns; it's unfair!" I yelled. Iolande then brought me into a quick squeeze hug for me to calm down, whereas Kilowog looked defeated like she and I were while I tried my best to protect myself until I noticed from the corner of my eye.
I was trying to hide from everyone because Ragnar was coming towards us. But unfortunately, he managed to grab me and pull me up forcefully, causing my right arm to break. I screamed in agony as I stared at him, "You may have broken my heart, but the punishment will make it even better once I win!"
He lifted me inside a red bubble with his ring, but not long after, he grabbed my injured arm, wincing in pain as he shot the Liberator where I was met with my Uncle, Kilowog, and Iolande as they held fear in their eyes for my life: "Let Cassie go!" "Alright, If you insist!" Unexpectedly, he threw me on top of the bomb machine, where my back was slapped against the wall; Hard enough to stop my breathing and pass out for a minute.
Later, a gentle touch on my face as I flutter my eyes to be met by Iolande, who helped me sit up: "Are you alright?" "I'm good... ngh! Just my arm now is broken." I grunt in pain and wince when I watch her get pulled into the fight; for a moment before, I came up with a brilliant yet foolish idea. It had the potential to get me killed, but I decided to take the risk. Sighing, I started to run towards Ragnar, and the moment he was about to hurt Iolande with his ring, I jumped into action and took the shot.
"AGH!" The shot caused me to scream at the pain in my stomach before I fell on my knees, steadying myself from fainting before Iolande came to my aid as Ragnar widened his eyes in fear by saying, "No... I-I d-didn't mean to-." "Save it, Ragnar," Iolande snapped, pulling me to my feet. "You've caused enough harm already." Ignoring the searing pain in my stomach, I stood my ground when the sudden blue light exploded around the sky as it came from the Interceptor, Iolande begins floating upward like I was, my clothes disappeared, and it transformed my body into a revealing outfit in a blue leotard with short white boots.
Ragnar stared in horror while I gasped in shock at how it was happening when I heard a baritone yet soft voice: 'ℍ𝕠𝕡𝕖 𝕓𝕦𝕣𝕟𝕤 𝕓𝕣𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥, ℂ𝕒𝕤𝕤𝕒𝕟𝕕𝕣𝕒. 𝕐𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕥𝕚𝕞𝕖 𝕨𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕖 𝕤𝕠𝕠𝕟 𝕖𝕟𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙.' I turned around to see his face; I was the first to attack precisely at the same time as Iolande did at her brother, "Being a 'perfect queen,' you say? B*tch, please. Go purge yourself somewhere else!" I close my eyes to let Iolande use her ring and attack him; he grunts in disbelief: "WHAT?!? H-How? Sister, How can Cassandra use the lantern power? You're not even chosen nor wearing a ring!"
"True..." I replied, my eyes glowed like starlight, and I started to feel some warmth around me when he harmed my friends, who I consider as a family while floating down toward Ragnar, "However, you've never SEEN how I can surely beat your ass with just one swing!" I made a holographic blue wip before hitting it at him with no remorse, and everyone began to fight until I spotted Razer falling; I swooped down to save him by holding him under his arms without having problems: "How-"
I looked down at him while flying to see his shock expression, and cut off his words, "Not now, Razer. Because I have no clue how it happens." Which I grunt a bit after feeling the pain in my right arm again, "Are you hurt?" "Yeah, but that's not important. I got to get you back to the Interceptor." Unbeknownst to me and everyone else, a blue power battery was sent flying into space.
Back in the Interceptor once more, I was taken to the medical room where Aya was scanning and healing my right arm by putting on a cast over it while everyone watched me like I was their last meal for quite a while; we all walked to the main hangar to cool down. Everything was peaceful until I had enough of the silent treatment and said: "I know what you're all going to say. So spit it out, what's on all your minds?"
No one spoke until my Uncle coughed out, "Why and how? How did you manage to use lantern power, Cassie?" Of course, it had to be that one. Well, at least I could try to explain it, and since Razer was here, I hope that I don't get scolded:
"I don't know, it just happened. However," I glance at Razer and then back at my hands, feeling insecure, "The blue energy made me feel alive, but not entirely, which I'm relieved about. But..."
Kilowog interjects, "But what?"
I slowly bite my lower lip in worry, "I think it spoke to me, saying, 'Hope burns bright, Cassandra. My time will come soon enough.' Hold on, you all didn't hear it?" Everyone shook their heads in confusion, meaning that I was the only one who heard the mysterious voice. Razer narrowed his eyes at me, clearly not convinced by my explanation. Before anyone could say anything else, my Uncle scolded me that I was to be grounded from going on a mission because of how reckless and stubborn I was. Sadly, I agreed.
Dinner time had passed, and I got up and left to contact Kia about what had happened. I then turned on my computer and started working on my assignments with her. Later, we ended the chat on a good note and didn't discuss it; I pushed myself away from my desk and closed my eyes while leaning my head on the chair.
Wondering why the blue energy spoke to me... 'Damn, I need to sleep.'
