Miss Peregrine POV

"Children!" I called from the kitchen.

There were some thumps and thuds as the children ran from all directions to meet me.

"Now, I know that we've already done most of our chores for today but it has been a particularly windy day today, and we need to rake the yard." I stated, propping my hands on the edge of the island.

I watched as frowns, groans, and sighs, came from all of the children standing before me.

"Go on! Out you go! The rakes are in the shed!"

"Uhm, Miss Peregrine?" Y/N asked timidly, stopping all of the children in their tracks. "I could do it. After all, I figured I could put myself to good use."

"No, Y/N that's quite alright. We have quite a large yard and I am sure your fellow housemates would gladly help you."

"Oh, it surely wouldn't be much trouble. My peculiarity should give me quite the advantage." Y/N smiled, waiting for my approval.

"Alright then. If you insist."

The rest of the children all thanked him with wide smiles spreading across their faces. Even Enoch patted his shoulder.

"Oh! And I can help!"

Emma walked quickly after the boy.

The two ran outside and I watched the boy and girl through the window of the kitchen. Y/N made a quick motion with his hand and all of a sudden, every single leaf in the back yard was pulled into a mini leaf twister. I watched as he brought the little leaf tornado towards him and let it drop in a mountainous pile. Emma stood there, staring, eyes wide. I can't say that I wasn't impressed with the boys work.

I watched as Claire, Bronwyn, and The Twins all ran together and jumped into the pile of leaves.

Y/N smiled and simply whisked his hands through the air again and the leaves swirled back into a pile, a slight breeze passing through the open windows.

Emma had a large grin across her face as well. She was staring at him as he repeated the process once more. She hugged him, he hugged her. The both of them smiling. His head propped upon hers, watching the children, laughing and playing. I watched Emma press her chin onto his chest and look up at Y/N. He glanced down at her and fixed the pile of leaves again. She pecked his chin and grasped him tighter. My children, growing up so fast.
