CHAPTER TWO, quirk assessment.

THE CLASS WAS SHOCKED, it's because they wouldn't be attending orientation, but their teacher didn't care. In fact, he told them that orientation was quite useless. So instead, the class would be doing some sort of quirk assessment test.

" Here at UA, we're not tethered to traditions. That means that I get to run my class however I see fit. You've been taking standardized tests most of your lives, but you never got to use your quirks in physical exams before." Mr Aizawa explained.

" The country's still trying to pretend that we're all created equal, not letting those with the most power excel. It's not rational, one day the ministry of education will learn. Bakugo, you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam. What was your farthest throw with a softball in Junior High?" The teacher asked.

All the students turned to Bakugo, waiting for him to answer. Izumi raised an eyebrow at the blond, waiting for his response. She guessed he was strong from their first encounter, but now she knew he was strong.

" Sixty-seven meters, I think." The blond answered nonchalantly, seeming a bit bitter with his answer. Izumi shared a glance with Kaoru, the latter already knowing what she was thinking.

" Right. Try doing it with your quirk. Stay in the circle. Go on, you're wasting our time." Mr Aizawa rushed the blond, who only stared at him in response. " Alright man, you asked for it." Bakugo stretched, planted his feet, and threw the ball with a small explosion.

Izumi Hiyori could only stare in amusement. She noticed the blond turn to her with a smirk, as if he wanted to memorize her reaction. She stuck her tongue out, making a blegh face to annoy the blond. That was pretty childish of her, she admitted it.

" All of you need to know your maximum capabilities, it's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a pro hero." The teacher stated plainly, holding up the distance Bakugo had thrown. Izumi gasped, widening the smirk on the blond's face.

" Woah, seven-hundred and five meters? Are you kidding me?!" Kaminari, who excitedly introduced himself to Izumi earlier, exclaimed. " I wanna go! That looks like fun!" Mina, a girl with pink skin, smiled.

" This is what I'm talking about, using our quirks as much as we want!" Sero shouted, raising his fists. The teacher was an obvious party pooper, and didn't let their optimism last for long.

" So this looks fun, huh? You have three years here to become a hero, you think it's gonna be all games and playtime? Idiots, today you'll compete in eight physical tests to gauge your potential, whoever comes in last has none, and will be expelled immediately." Aizawa stated, scaring some of his students.

Izumi and Kaoru sent each other reassuring nods, they were both powerful, but couldn't underestimate their classmates since they didn't even know most of their quirks. Izumi's big ego told her that she wouldn't have to worry about coming in last.

She still felt threatened though, and turned to face the short boy with green hair. Izuku Midoriya. He could almost feel her glaring at him, and gulped at the obvious intensity of her stare.

" Like I said, I get to decide how this class runs, understand? If that's a problem, you can head home right now." Mr Aizawa glared, turning Izumi's attention away from her classmate.

" You can't send one of us home! I mean, we just got here! Even if it wasn't the first day, that isn't fair!" The girl with brown hair, Uraraka, spoke. " Oh, and you think natural disasters are? Or power hungry villains? Or catastrophic accidents that wipe out whole cities?" The teacher asked.

" No, the world is full of unfairness. It's a heroes job to try to combat that unfairness. If you wanna be a pro, you're gonna have to push yourself to the brink. For the next three years, UA will throw one terrible hardship after another at you. So go beyond, Plus Ultra style. Show me it's no mistake that you're here." He finished, sending each student into a trance.

He was right. The world isn't fair, but they could make things fair. If they really tried. " Now then, we're just wasting time by talking. Let the games begin." Mr Aizawa blew a whistle, starting the tests.

Test one, was the fifty-meter dash. Which happened to be quite simple, because all Izumi did was use her telekinesis to trip her opponent, and lift herself to the finish line. While Kaoru stopped time and ran to the finish line, getting him there in zero seconds.

The entire class was quite amazed by the two friends, as they finished effortlessly. But they were also amazed by Todoroki, and many others in the class. Izumi did notice that Midoriya was trying his best not to stand out, or so she thought. She even noticed that Bakugo was trying his best to stand out, unlike him.

The second test, was a simple grip one. Izumi hit three-hundred kilograms, while Kaoru hit four-hundred. They both high-fived, quite proud of themselves, until some guy hit five-hundred kilograms.

Kaoru didn't mind, he knew he wasn't the best of the best, but Izumi clenched her fist. That just let her know that she had to try harder, that's all. So for the third test, that's exactly what she did.

Her score kept improving each round, and finally, they made it to the last few test of the day. Izumi wiped the sweat off her forehead, and cracked her knuckles, then next she cracked her neck.

A few of her classmates sweat dropped as the girl threw the ball, and every time it nearly hit the ground, she would lift it again until it was out of sight. She smiled, as her classmates gasped at her score.

" Nine-hundred and fifty meters?! No way!" Midoriya exclaimed, admiration in his eyes. Izumi bowed, smirking at the boy. Even Todoroki was surprised by the distance of her throw, she had passed the fiery blond.

The next person went up, which was Uraraka, and she reached infinity. Izumi raised an eyebrow and began clapping for the girl. Now, she wondered if Uraraka had some kind of quirk that tampered with the weight of things or something.

The last person to go up was Izuku Midoriya, and it looked like he was going to be the one going home. Izumi felt like there was something else to him, maybe he was pretending to be a lost cause and wasn't one.

" If Midoriya doesn't shape up soon, he's the one going home." Tenya Iida stated, crossing his arms on his chest as he watched the short boy stand in front of the class with the small ball in his hand.

" Huh? Of course he is, he's a quirk-less loser!" Bakugo exclaimed, pointing at Midoriya with aggression. Izumi rolled her eyes at the blond. " He's far from quirk-less, Bakugo." Izumi acknowledged, because from what she heard, he was powerful.

" No one was talking to you." Bakugo groaned, rolling his eyes at the girl with a small smirk. " I don't care." She scoffed, wanting to punch the smirk off of his face. Even if she found him attractive.

" She's right, Bakugo. Midoriya has an amazing quirk, he used it in the entrance exam." Iida nodded his head curtly, confusing the angry blond. Bakugo grew up with Midoriya and the boy was always weak and quirk-less to him, so he didn't believe them.

" I'll believe it when I see it." The blond shrugged, turning his red eyes to the boy with green ones. Izuku was getting ready to throw the ball with all his strength, but it didn't go very far. Only forty-six meters.

" Uh, what gives? I was trying to use it just now." Izuku Midoriya muttered, but Izumi still heard him. She turned to Kaoru, ready to question the boy, but didn't get the chance to when their teacher began talking.

" I erased your quirk. The judges for this exam were not rational enough. Someone like you should never be allowed to enroll at this school." Mr Aizawa explained, being as harsh as ever.

" Wait, you did what to my those goggles! I know you, you can look at someone and cancel out their powers. The Erasure Hero, Eraser Head!" Izuku quickly caught on, his eyes widening at the teacher.

The class looked confused, most of them not knowing who the man was, while a few others did. He was a down-low hero. The man ignored his class, continuing his rant about how Izuku wasn't ready to be a hero. Izumi started to feel bad for the boy, he was being singled out already, and it was only the first day of school.

Izuku didn't seem really bothered by what the teacher said to him, and was quite determined. Izumi liked that about him, because he threw the ball, and only used one finger to push his power out.

Everyone stared at the scene before them, watching the ball quickly fly out of view. A gasp escaped Izumi's lips as the distance showed seven-hundred and five meters. With only one finger. It was bruised and purple, letting his class know that it was broken.

" Nice! He's finally showing us his true power!" Kaoru cheered, throwing his arms in the air for his friend. A few seconds later, Uraraka joined him in his cheering. Iida began talking and stating facts that no one else really seemed to care about.

Meanwhile, Katsuki Bakugo had this shocked look on his face. He looked constipated, but Izumi wouldn't say such a thing out loud. His jaw was dropped and he had obvious beads of sweat growing.

" Hey, Deku, you bastard! Tell me how you did that or you're dead!" The blond began rushing towards the boy with green hair, threatening him with some small explosions coming out of his fingers.

" Deku? I thought his name was Izuku Midoriya?" Izumi questioned, scratching her head. She briefly remembered his introduction. " Maybe it's some sort of childhood nickname? Midoriya told me that he knew Bakugo since he was a little kid." Kaoru shrugged.

Izumi didn't say anything after that, watching as Bakugo was trapped in their teachers long scarf. It was powerful enough to keep the blond from harming an innocent Midoriya.

Izumi then realized that the blond had serious anger issues. After that whole situation, the students finished the rest of the tests and it was time to see their scores and placements. They were excited.

" I've ranked you all from best to worst. You should probably have a good idea of your standing already. I'll just pull up the whole list, it's not worth going over each individual's score." Mr Aizawa said plainly.

Izumi smiled as she found her name on the list, being pulled into third place, with Kaoru being in fifth. They gave each other fist bumps. She ignored the annoyance at seeing Todoroki in second place, right above her.

She turned to the boy, glaring as he raised a challenging brow at her. She was tired of him already. He was so annoying, she just knew that they'd get into another fight this year. And then get scolded by their parents after.

" And I was lying. No one's going home. That was just a rational deception to make sure you gave it your all in the tests." Their teacher grinned, while his students that made low placements stared in shock.

Especially Midoriya, since he was in last, and almost surely thought that he would be going home. " I'm surprised the rest of you didn't figure that out. I'm sorry, I guess I probably should've said something." The tall girl, Momo, raised her eyebrows slightly.

" You guys really didn't know?" Izumi asked with a smirk, pretending that she knew. When in reality, she was as dimwitted as the rest of them.

" That was pretty nerve wracking, huh?" Sero, a boy Izumi became friends with, asked. " Nah, I'm always down for a challenge." Kirishima answered, clenching his hands into a fist.

" That's it, we're done for the day. Pick up a syllabus in the classroom, read it over before tomorrow morning." Aizawa walked away, probably going to get some sleep somewhere. Izumi smiled, glad that the day was much shorter than she expected it to be.
