Summer was so boring. Nothing really happened here. Only Daphne would walk around the block, help Katherine out, read, and just play around with Morticia and Lucifer. Blaise would come over time by time to keep her busy. Which she liked.
Summers is coming to an end, which she was happy about. She would get back to Hogwarts to see her friends again. Draco, its a mixed feeling. After what they said, she didn't want to say goodbye or anything.
"Up, up." Katherine enters her room. Daphne, sitting on her desk, drawing.
"What for?" Katherine puts a dress on her bed, smoothing it out.
"We're having company. And please be nice. No mischief." No promises.
"Company?"
"Your father. Get dressed. If you dont within 5 minutes, im going to put you in that dress myself." I got out my chair, closing the door behind Katherine. I walked back to my bed and looked at the black dress. I sighed as I took off my clothes and zipped up the black dress. I turned to the mirror and fixed it.
"The things I do." I let out a huff. I personally don't like dresses, not even the ones people pick out for me. This one was big and scratchy. Katherine came back and did my hair.
"No funny business." My father said as he walks into my room.
"Yes father." Who is the company that they are so worried about. They're making it such a big deal. My father stands behind me, putting his hand on my shoulder.
"The garden is forbidden."
"Whos coming thats so important?" I turned to him.
"Its just business dear." The doorbell rings. They both walked off, leaving me alone. I waited in my room. Why cant I just stay here and pretend that im not even here. Morticia meows.
"Alright." I made my way to the spiral staircase. As I walked down, i saw a familiar platinum blonde hair. My eyes widen as I got a good look. One head looked up and his eyes widen. Draco. I gripped onto the railing. As I got to bottom, i just stared at him. Hes the special guest?
"You must be Daphne." His father said, making me stop looking at him.
"Mr and Mrs. Malfoy." I bowed.
"Its a pleasure." His mom comes up to me and shakes my hand.
"Snape." Draco said coldly.
"Malfoy." Both father's elbowed their children, making them wince. "Draco."
"Daphne."
"Shall we start?" Snape lead the Malfoys to a room.
"Wait here. Don't start anything you're not supposed to." Katherine told Daphne as Lucas locks the door and heads Katherine out for her day. Ever since she was a kid, Daphne was never allowed to ask why people, such as the Malfoys, Bellatrix even, why they're here. Or what they're doing. Its was grown up business.
"You got anything to do here? Looks awfully boring." Draco whines as he took a seat on the black velvet couch. Daphne took the other couch across from him.
"No, my father told me not to do anything reckless. And now that you're here, you're going to get me in trouble again."
"Live a little Snape. My father will let it slide." He smirks. She did miss that stupid smirk of his.
"We can play chess." I made my way to the stairs. He eventually followed her, going into her room. Draco was mesmerized with her room, filled with books, photographs, sketches, even a small collection of her trading cards that was on a shelf. Her room was well kept, no mess and organized. Her room smelled like lavender, which is her natural scent. The house smelled like firewood, but when she steps into a room, her scent overpowers it. The dark forest green walls felt like home.
"Here we go." Daphne shows him the chess game that was on a shelf. He draws his focus to her.
"Is that?" Draco takes a look at the game. His eyes widen. "These are hard to find! Limited edition, only 50 were ever made! How?"
"When you're daddys little girl and you get everything you want. I mean everything." I walked out, Draco standing besides me. We set up the game and started playing.
"C15." Draco calls out. The piece moved. He looks out at the window behind me. "Say, we can go out there."
"We cant." I crossed my arms. "Its off limits, we'll get in trouble."
"Only if we get caught." He stands up. "Whats so special about it?"
"Its Katherines garden. Mostly all rare flowers are in there. Its a maze."
"Lets go." Draco secretly made his way out.
"Malfoy!" She ran after him. When Daphne saw him enter, she knew this going to end badly. She gulps and runs in to find him. "Draco!" She calls out. With every turn, she was scared to see if he'll pop out and scare her. "Malfoy!" She founds him. They laughed as they chased each other around the garden.
"Boo!" He pops out. Daphne squeals. She hits him on the arm. "See, nothing happened."
"How much you wanna bet if they're waiting on the other side." She said as they walked back. "What-" she fells a pull on her dress. It was caught on a thorn. As Daphne pulls it, the dress rips.
"Nobody will notice." He smoothed the dress rip, hopefully nobody will see. They made it out, luckily nobody was there. They sneaked into the piano room. "You play?" He sits on the bench.
"Of course. Im not boring." She sits next to him. She played a couple keys. Draco then puts his fingers on the keys, but didn't play. "Like this." She presses her hand on his and plays. They started to do a duet. The smiles on the kids faces as they played. Daphne showed off a bit, laughing. "Pardon my enthusiasm."
"I like your enthusiasm." The parents watched as they saw Daphne play.
"Well done Daphne." Mrs. Malfoy claps. The kids turned behind them. "It was beautiful." Daphne nods.
"Thank you."
"Lets go Draco." Mr. Malfoy tells him. We walked the family to the door. "I believe that what we talked about will be alright."
"Of course Lucius."
"Bye Daphne." Draco waves. "I had a great time."
"Bye Draco." They went away. I might've forgave him, for now. Katherine closes the door and looks at me.
"Draco huh." I frowned. Shaking my head, as she walks away. I went to pick up my chess pieces from the room. Later on the day, the sun was setting, I was mostly in my room, drawing.
"Daphne." I turned to the door to see my father.
"What is it father?" I put down my pencil.
"Im afraid i have bad news." He steps in, looking around the room. "Im leaving today. They needed to go through some new rules at Hogwarts. I wont be able to take you to get your books tomorrow. Katherine will help." It hurt me. It sucks to have him leave. Mostly going to Diagon Alley was our time to spend with each other.
"Of course." I nodded, not showing him i was sad.
"What are you drawing?" He changed the subject.
"Flowers." I smiled. He was impressed. A gifted child. He always liked my sketches, my music. "Will you be careful when you get there okay."
"I will." He placed his hand on my cheek. I watched him leave my room. When it was time, I watched him leave through my bedroom window, waving goodbye. Laying down on my bed and just stared at the ceiling. I did have a great time today, something I haven't had done in a very long time.
