They both woke up an hour before anyone, so the couple snuck back into their dorms and slept for another hour. Daphne wanted to sleep in more but the girls in the room were chatting and giggling too loud.
Daphne fixed her hair, as she finished changing, grabbing her books and heading to meet Draco in the common room. Draco taking her books from her as they walked to class together.
"Letting you know that after potions, I have to meet with professor Trelawney." I said as we went up the stairs.
"For what?"
"I asked her if she can do a palm read, see what my future will be like." I held his hand, walking through the crowd.
"She cant even predict the weather." He scuffs. We were in front of the potions room, i stopped him in front of the door.
"Well I believe in her so, okay?" I batted my lashes. Draco just rolled his eyes.
"Okay. Ill wait for you then."
"Good." I gave him a peck on the cheek, grabbing my books and heading into potions. Everyone was here, including Granger. "Since when was Pansy back?" I whispered to Lisa who stood next to me. Lisa leaned back, checked her.
"Heard her father paid the ministry to take her back." What a good year. I gave her a death glare, making Blaise chuckle.
"Attention to detail in the preparation is the prerequisite of all plan." Slughorn claps his hands, talking about the class this upcoming year. I heard the door open and I looked to Potter and Weasley coming. One year, can I not have them for a class, just one year. "Harry, my boy, I've been beginning to worry. You brought someone with us, I see." Slughorn smiles.
"Ron Weasley, sir. But I'm dead awful at Potions. A menace, actually so. I'm probably just gonna—"
"Nonsense, we'll sort you out. Any friend of Harry's is a friend of mine. Get your books out." He waves them to the group.
"I'm sorry, sir, I haven't actually got my book yet and nor is Ron." I rolled my eyes.
"Not to worry, get what you want from the cupboard." The two boys walked up, fighting over a book. Boys. "Now as I was saying, I prepared some concoctions this morning. Any ideas what these might be?" Granger raises her hand. "Yes, Miss...?"
"Granger, sir. That one there is Veritaserum. It's a truth-telling serum. And that would be Polyjuice Potion. It's terribly tricky to make. This is Amortentia. The most powerful love potion in the world. It's rumored to smell differently to each person according to what attracts them." She steps closer to the potions. "For example, I smell... Freshly mown grass and new parchment and... Spearmint toothpaste." She looks at Weasley. I smiled to myself, trying not to laugh. Looks like someone got a crush on the Weasley.
"Now Amortentia doesn't create actual love. That would be impossible, but it does cause powerful infatuation or obsession." The girls, including Lisa came closer and closer to the potion. "And for that reason, it is probably the most dangerous potion in this room." Slughorn puts the cap on, making the girls go back in place. I chuckled at Lisa.
"Sir, you haven't told us what's in that one." Lisa coughs.
"Oh yes. What you see before you, ladies and gentlemen, is a curious little potion, known as Felix Felicis. But it is more commonly known referred to as-" he held the tiny bottle in his hands.
"Liquid luck." I said aloud.
"Yes, Miss Snape." He smiles. "Liquid luck. Desperately tricky to make, disastrous should you get it wrong. One sip and you'll find that all of your endeavours succeed. At least until the effects wear off. So this is what I offer each of you today. One tiny vial of liquid luck to the student who in the hour that remains, manages to brew an acceptable Draught of Living Dead. Recipes for which can be found on page 10 of your books. Issue one doubt, however. Only one set of student manage to brew a potion of sufficient quality to claim this prize. Nevertheless, good luck to you all. Let the brewing commence." I grabbed Dracos hand and went to the table to start. I opened my book, this is going to be easy! I mean, my father was the potions teacher. I know how to make it by heart.
"You have to crush it." I pointed at Draco. He looks up.
"Thats not what it says in the book." I gave him a look. "Right." I put the ingredients into my cauldron, happily. I heard an explosion, Seamus. Oh of course, my table chuckled. Everyones Draught of Living Dead were all fails. It was just me and Potter. I frowned, how? Him? Slughorn tested mine out first, throwing a feather in, burning it.
"Wonderful job miss. Snape! Your father taught you well!" He complemented.
"Its all in the blood Professor." I smiled. He went to Potters, testing it out.
"Merlin's beard! It is perfect! So perfect I'd just say one drop would kill us all!" He claps. "Looks like we have a tie!" We heard rumbling. We all looked my cauldron, which was shaking. I slowly walked up to it, hovering over it.
"AHHH!" The liquid jumped onto my face. Dracos and Lisas eyes widen, running to Daphne, trying to get the glob off of her. Lisa casted a spell, making it plop on the ground.
"Oh my! Sorry Daphne its looks like Harry-"
"I know!" I yelled. How did it not work!?
"Here we are then, as promised. One vial of Felix Felicis. Congratulations. Use it well." Slughorn gives Potter the tiny bottle. How did Potter know this? The book was off! He didn't know what wolfsbane was in first year! We packed our things to go to Professor Trelawney. "Harry! Daphne! A moment." Slughorn calls us out. I looked at Draco.
"Ill wait outside." He glares at Potter, giving me a kiss why he did.
"Yes Professor?" I walked up to him, cheerly. Potter rolling his eyes, seeing how fake Daphne was being.
"I believe that the two of you are great with potions and i want the two of you to be partners this year." Daphne bursted out in laughter.
"Due all respect professor, I rather work with Seamus than with Potter." I pointed at him.
"It wasnt a request Miss Snape." I frowned.
"Im with Daphne sir. We don't really work great together." Potter chimes in.
"Two great minds think a like mr Potter." He wasn't going to change his mind. Potter and I glaced at each other. "See potential in you both. Tomorrow you both shall sit together. Itll be fun!" I gave him a smile as I walked off.
"Looks like you lost you potions partner." I grumbled.
"You've got to be kidding me." Draco huffs. "He partnered you and Potter? Unbelievable. Did you-"
"He had his mind set, theres no way to changing this mans mind." We made it to Professor Trelawney's classroom. "How can Potter know this?" I shook my head. "Potter can't be better at potions than me! I am Severus Snapes daughter!" Draco puts his hands on my shoulders, relaxing me.
"You are. You are better at making potions than anyone in this school, dont let Potter steal that from you." I nodded.
"For the rest of the year i have to sit with that git." I mumbled as we walked in the room. "Good evening professor Trelawney!" I put on a smile.
"Ah! Daphne!" She sets down her glass ball, wobbled up to me. "Are you ready?"
"Yes ma'am." We both sat down, she reaches out for my hands, running her over mine. Closing her eyes, humming. Draco was trying not to laugh at this nonsense. "What do see?"
"Hmm. Looks like you will be having three kids in the future." Dracos eyes widen, my jaw dropped.
"3?!" Draco gasps.
"Seriously!?" Im having children? I don't even like them! Me? 3!? Professor Trelawney's eyes widen as she reads my palms. She jumps back, bumping herself to the tables. "Professor?" I got scared. "What did you see?"
"I sense pain, evil, sadness, and so much death in your future." She reaches out. My heart dropped. Evil. Death.
"From me?" I said softly.
"It-it was pure evil." She walks up to me.
"You're just scaring her, lets go." Draco takes my hand and walks out.
"Draco!" He held on my hand a little too hard.
"She's a fraud Daphne! You're going to take her word?" He growls. I looked down at my hands.
"Let me go, you're hurting me." He slowly lets me go, he realizes what he did. "Are you alright?" I said as I was rubbing my wrist.
"Im fine." He doesn't look at me. "What she said was lies. Your future isn't going be evil or you wont have deaths."
"Draco-"
"You know what, im late for quidditch tryouts." He storms out of the hall leaving me alone. What has he gotten into? I made my way to the bathroom. I splashed water to my face.
"Evil." It was reflection me. I raised my hand, going to smash it. "Do you really want another broken hand? Didnt think so."
"Leave me alone."
"Like I said, you can't escape your destiny."
"But I can change it." I grabbed my bag and headed out to watch Draco and Blaise try out. I saw Lisa. "Lisa?" I said as I sat next to her. "What are you doing here?" She quickly turns to me, surprised to see me.
"Uh i was here when the hufflepuffs came to try out." She played off.
"Right." I giggled. We watched the boys chase, catch and flied around the field. I couldn't stop think about how Draco was so aggressive with me. Probably the whole Potter becoming my partner probably set him off. I know for sure it wasn't me. I sat there with my chin on my hand, watching the boys practice. Draco stayed on his broom, waiting, he looked at Daphne, he messed up.
Why did he snap at her like at that, it wasn't even her fault? Voldemort had him on his toes. After the tryouts, Daphne and Lisa headed down, and the smell of cherry chapstick came onto Daphne. It was Lisa.
"See yeah!" Lisa waves and her and Blaise headed out. Draco, still on his broom, came next to her. He sticks out his hand.
"What are you doing?" I scuffed.
"Lets go for a spin yeah?" Daphne reaches out, sitting on the broom with him. "You better hold on." He smirks.
"Draco Malfoy you better not-" and they zoomed. Daphne screams as Draco flew around the school. "Draco!" She held him tight, closing her eyes as he turns. They landed, Daphne pushing him off the broom because of her scare. He pulls her with him, rolling around, laughing. Draco started kissing her.
"You still love me?"
"Depends, are you going to snap at me again?" Draco sighs. Daphne pushes him off of her, standing up. "Congratulations on making seeker by the way." He scuffs as she walks away, winking. He deserved that. As he watched her walk away, al he can think of is he cant have her in this pain, he cant have her in this life. Now that he's a deatheater, who knows what they'll do, to him or her. But at the same time, he didn't want to let her go. Daphne is his happiness, his reason he's still here.
