Its been days since Dumbledore's death, seeing my mother for the 'first' time. These past days had been draining me out. Just the thought of being in the same room as Fiona haunts me. She's been wanting to spend time with me lately, my father would interfere and stop her whenever she had the chance.
Lucas, my father and I were in his office, having a moment together. I slouched on the chair while the two men leaned against the walls. We all need a break from her, she had been bossing us around, getting in my father's last nerve.
"She requested that Daphne and her have a bonding day." Lucas sighs.
"Absolutely not. Not that im still alive." My father walks back and forth.
"What is she going to do? Turn me bad? We all know that I would never." I crossed my legs. "I couldn't even kill anyone, you expect me to listen to what she says? If I do, kill me."
"Dont say that. I had it, I'll take you, send you with Katherine, somewhere, just so we can leave. I just cant have you here with..." my father turns his head, he didn't even say her name. What did he see in her? She did manipulated him into falling in love with her.
"So Voldemort can come for us and kill us all? Sure. Be my guest. I just want a fast killing, thats it." I said sarcastically, rolling my head back. "Like you said father, we can't go behind Voldemorts back." He looks at me. He knew that I was right. "We have to deal with Fionas nonsense for now. Either we like it or not."
"Not going to happen." I clapped.
"She bugs me more than the two of you. Lets just get her want she wants, me. Just let me spend one day with her, it'll be all over."
"No! Thats final." My father quickly turns to me.
"You and uncle Lucas will be by my side. Im not going anywhere. I promise."
"This isn't a good idea." Lucas shakes his head. "She will manipulate you, just like she did to everyone." He looks at both of us. "Is it me or is Fiona too nice? When has she ever been this happy? No offense niece, she has never been this happy."
"Its one of her tricks. She gets all nice and gets on your good side." My father turns to me, holding my arms. "You have to be careful around her. You must promise me this. Dont let her fool you. Sooner or later you will see her bad side. Its not pretty."
"If she is making us play her game, why wont we make her play ours?" They both looked at me. "What? I can be very pervasive." I hummed. They hated this. "Fine, i'll drop it." There was a knock on the door. Fiona. We stood up and my father went to open the door, she was standing there with a dress. It was burgundy with black detailing, lacy.
"Was I interrupting?" She acts so innocent.
"No, I was just leaving." I swiftly swayed to the door, walking out and to my room. I sat on my bed, grabbing a book from my stand. I heard footsteps coming from my fathers office and into my room. I looked up to see him and Fiona.
"Put this on, we are having a family portrait." She tosses me the burgundy dress. My fathers face looked defeated. He did say no but I know she said something to let his guard down.
"Why? We're not even a family." Fiona was mad, she calmed down by closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.
"We can start being one." She looks at me and my father. "Ill be outside to help you tie it up." She turns her heels and heads out. My father and I sighed. Just to get her off our backs for a while. One day, that's all. I closed the door behind my father and got dressed. I hated it. I looked so ugly in it. It something Katherine would wear if she needed to go somewhere fancy. I called Fiona in, she was at aw. "You look so beautiful." She comes behind me and starts tying the dress. Her being close me was uncomfortable. She has meet me for like a week and she thinks she knows me, as if she didn't leave my side. I grunted as she pulled the lace tighter. "Beauty is pain."
"Sure." Fiona lets down my hair, fixing it. She looked in the mirror and smiled. I turned to her, pissed. She tried to put her hand on my cheek, but I turned my head.
"Whenever you are ready, meet us downstairs." She coughs from embarrassment. I was left in my room, pacing. Why was I so nervous? Just go down there and get this over with. I headed to the stairs and I heard the three arguing.
"You don't know what she likes. She hates dresses."
"She like capes and wearing dark clothes like you? You twisted her mind so she can hate me, not even giving me a chance."
"She can like whatever she wants. You lost your chance when you chose to kill James, giving her the mark. You lost your chance when you chose to have her for one reason and for that reason for V-"My father growled at Fiona. Lucas nudges my fathers arm and nods at my direction. He had his normal attire, Lucas changed into a black suit, and Fiona had a dark green dress on.
"Stop looking at me. I want to get this done." We headed to the hall and we went in pace. I sat on a chair, while my father and Fiona put their hands on my shoulders, while Lucas standing next to Fiona.
"Smile." My father, Lucas and I didn't smile. We all stood still and showed no emotion. We didn't want to be here at all. Here we are, doing portraits while the world is coming to an end, lovely. I saw the paint brush moving in the air. My head kept dropping, trying to keep it up, trying not to fall asleep. Nobody was talking, making it so boring. I can't stay still, I need to move around.
"Stop bouncing your leg." Fiona whispers to me.
"She's need to move, Daphne can't stay in one spot for a long time, but I think you already knew that since you know so much about her, right?" My father sassed at her. I smirked a bit.
"Done." The painter said. Fiona rans to the portrait and we dragged our feet behind her. We all looked so miserable. The ones that we did with Katherine were never that bad, we had smiles, well, besides my father.
"Finally, I can take this bloody thing off of me." Lucas undoes his tie and rips it off aggressively.
"Im ahead you. Im going to change." I said before Fiona stops in front of me. Oh no.
"I want you sit for one more."
"What is it for?"
"Its a surprise." I huffed and plopped on the chair again. The painter fixed my posture, crossing my legs, fixing my back, my hair. Fiona stood by him, watching every move of his. "Give me smile Daphne." I gave her a fake one, then dropping it, rolling my eyes. She made a fist and stormed off, leaving me and the painter alone.
"Don't move." He said as I tried to stretch my neck. Cant even twitch in my home. I never thought I could hate something like this. Rich people always have to have their portraits taken, professionally and it sucks. Its been an hour of me sitting in this chair. I heard people talking, coming closer, they weren't my fathers or Lucas'.
"You are something else Fiona, you are suppose to go out there and look for the boy, not have a family day." It was Lucius. I sighed out of annoyance.
"He told you and your boy to look for him, not us." She spat. I took peek and saw Lucius and Draco. He didn't know who he was looking at. This wasn't Daphne. She hated this type of stuff.
"Finished." I quickly sat up and hugged Draco. He embraced me.
"Is there anymore? I would like to change into my clothes." I told Fiona. She walked up to the painting and smiled.
"I guess." I took Draco's hand and went to my room. He shut the door and I just play around with my fingers.
"Can you get this off me?" I pointed at my back. Draco came behind, slowly untying the dress. His cold hands made my back get goosebumps. The dress falls down, showing my bare back. He gentle places a kiss on my shoulder.
"What has she been doing to you? This isn't you." He whispers.
"She might've said something to my father. It was just for today." Hopefully. I quickly grabbed my clothes, rolling up my tights, following with the others clothes. "Got anything?" I asked as I put on my jumper.
"Hes not here." He lays on my bed, grabbed my hand. "My father was such a pain. He just wants to get Potter." It's not going to be easy. Potter is now in the wind. Now that he knows everything, merlins knows where he is hiding. "Heard anything from Lisa?" My head fell. Nothing.
"No." I said softly. "The way I left her, she's never going to forgive me. I should've told her from the beginning." I rocked myself. "I left her alone, I left her behind."
"You can't keep beating yourself up for what happened. If Lisa is really your best friend, she would understand why you kept it away from her." I shook my head. I hurt her. Only if I would go back in time. I heard my name being yelled.
"Come on." We walked to the foyer, everyone was gathered there. I stepped to the side with Draco.
"Surprise!" Fiona points up, we all looked up. There was 4 moving portraits. The Cox women. My grandmother, Mera, who had a beautiful smile, it wasn't forced, it was so natural. She looked so pretty with her green eyes, . Then Fiona, she had her wicked smile turned into her famous smirk, Katherine, she had a soft smile as takes a deep breath, but it was still there, and then there was me. I looked miserable. I had no emotion. You can feel the sadness coming off of it.
"Where did you find the others?" Lucas gulped.
"In the attic, wonder who put them there." She looks at him. The day Fiona left, he had taken down the portraits and stuffed them in the attic, to see their mothers portrait up and next to to the daughter who killed her brought him and Katherine so much pain. They had to. He loved his mother, losing her was a nightmare. Lucas stomps away and slams the door. "Did I do something wrong?" Lucius and my father looked at each other. This woman is insane. Its like she feeds off peoples sadness. Draco holds my hand as I looked at Katherines painting. She looked so young. I let out a soft cry. I need her. Katherine i need you.
"Come on." Draco takes me back to my room. "Shes mental."
"I need to see Katherine."
"You know you can't." He stops me from pacing around. He looks at me. I was trying so hard not to cry in front of him. I looked away. Draco pulls me in for a hug and i just broke down. I sob so quietly.
"What if I won't see her again?"
"You will." He makes me look at him. My eyes all watery and my nose so red. In a way she looked cute but he hated her feeling that way. Merlins Draco would do anything to take her pain away and have him take it. She doesn't deserve this. She never signed up for this. "Katherine would be so proud of you. You are so strong. She would want you to fight to the end." Daphne just hugs him back. She frowns as she looks outside. They won't get away with anything. She will do something. Little by little.
