I fixed my black hair, pushing the wavy front strands to the back. I smoothed the short, velvet, long sleeve, slit on the side, dress that I picked out earlier this morning from the back of my closet. I looked at the time, i was already late. I tied my heels and made my way out and meet Potter. I saw him standing, waiting nervously. I tapped on his shoulder, making myself known. He turns, starstruck. I just looked at the door, wanting this to be over already.

"I thought you weren't going to come." He whispers.

"Slughorn invited us, why wouldn't I go." We stood there silently. It was getting awkward again. "We go our separate ways." I told him again, he just nods. "How do I look? Do I look alright?" I asked him, fixing my hair.

"You look beautiful... you are beautiful." He chokes up. I slowly turned to him, getting a good look at him. He was wearing a burgundy button up, with a matching tie. His hair plopped down, but showing off his lighting bolt like scar.

"Um thanks." I looked away. I looked back at his glasses, they were dirty, a bit foggy. "Your glasses, they're-" I tried to grab them, but backing up since I didn't want to touch him.

"What?" He was confused.

"They're dirty. Let me." I took them off his face, breathing on them, wiping them clean with my dress. Potter watched her, he never seen this side of Daphne before. He didn't know if he should be looking at her as if she's the only girl in the world or his enemy. But he did like this side of her. Daphne slowly puts his glasses on him, making him blink repeatedly. "There."

"Uh thanks."

"My uncle once said to me before, you must show up looking presentable to any occasion, everything must be put together, your shoes, your hair, and even your glasses. You'll never know what will happen."

"Right." Potter breathes out. He clears his throat and puts his arm out, for Daphne to take. Before she did, Daphne senses something in the corner. She looked back, nothing. It felt like she was being watched. She gently rubs it off, maybe its the ghosts roaming around, she takes his arm and they both walked in. The party was filled with students and staff, laughing, drinking, and talking. Then my eyes fell on my father. I quickly let go of Potter.

"Harry! Daphne!" Slughorn smiles, walking towards us. Oh no, I can't walk away now! "Nice to see you here together! Let's take a picture!"

"Wait no photos!" I tried to stop him but the flash went off. Too late.

"Wonderful! Enjoy!" He then walks away. I rolled my eyes and looked to see Lisa. I scuffed, making my way to her.

"Lisa?" She turns to me, she stuffed her mouth with pastries that were on the table. "What are you doing here?" I knew the answer. Blaise.

"Blaise invited me." She turned red. I wiggled my eyebrows. "Oh stop it! We just came as friends."

"Sure you did."

"Come on!" She grabs my hand and made our way to Blaise. We had some drinks, talking about classes. "Did you really came with Harry?" Lisa bumped her shoulder to my arm.

"Sadly." I chugged my drink.

"Calm down Daphne, nobody is gonna say anything." Blaise tells me. "Live on the edge."

"My father is here and he's already seen me walk in with him. Can't wait for that conversation later." the 'you can't be with Potter' speech was calling out.

"Does Draco know?"

"I haven't seen him all day! Hes been hiding! Im getting worried and I'm just-" i took a deep breath. Lisa puts her hand on my back, helping me breathe. "I'm going to tell him that Potter asked me, I dont want any confusion." I saw my father talking to Potter, I have to tell him about Draco. I mean he was the one that gave Draco detention. "Excuse me." I walked up to my father, pulling him into the curtains. "Before you say anything! I'm not here with Potter."

"Interesting. I saw that you both walked in, together, holding arms."

"Father!" I raised my voice. "We can do this talk later, but I want to know about Draco." He straighten ups, acting like he doesn't know. "I know Draco has been talking to you and Lucas. I just want to know, why did you give him detention? Whats going on with him?" He frowns.

"I didn't."

"He said that you did, thats whys he couldn't come with me because you were making him clean the room of requirements." The way my fathers face was so lost, i knew at that moment, Draco had lied to me. "That's because you didn't and he lied." I quickly looked down, playing with my ring. I looked like a fool. "I should go back." I walked out, heading back to Lisa. I was angry. He lied to me.

"Drink?"

"What!" I snapped. I turned to see Neville. He got shaken up as I yelled at him. I covered my mouth, regretting what I just did. "Neville, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you." I apologized. "I really am."

"Take your hands off me, you filthy Squib." I heard a familiar voice. I looked up to see Filch, dragging Draco into the party. Draco shoves him off.

"Professor Slughorn, sir. I just discovered this boy lurking in an upstairs corridor. He claims to have been invited to your party." Liar. Lisa saw me, Blaise and her ran to my side, holding me.

"Okay, okay, I was gate crashing. Happy?" I looked away from him, i was ashamed. Why would he do this to me?

"I'll escort him out." My father grabs Draco's arm.

"Certainly, Professor." Draco yanks his arm, then he saw me. I looked down, hurt. Lisa frowns at me, shaking her head at him.  My father pushed Draco out of the party, I barely looked at him.

"Alright, everyone carry on, carry on." Slughorn cheers and everyone went back to chatting.

"Did he just?"

"Lie to me." I grabbed her drink, chugged it and went to find Draco. I saw him, walking away. "Hey!" He turns back, he looked pissed, but I was even more pissed. "What the bloody hell happened?" I stood in front of him, him facing back to me.

"Nothing, just go back."

"Draco-" I calmed myself down because I knew that fighting wasn't going to get us anywhere. "Can you explain yourself? I just spoke to my father and he didn't give you detention. Look at me and tell me the truth, im not playing around."

"Just leave me alone alright! Im not in the mood." He turns to me, snapping back at me.

"Draco talk to me." I held his hand, trying to let him let me in.

"I told you, i had detention."

"I heard what Flich said. That's nowhere near the room of requirements. My father even said he didn't give you detention." I looked up to him. "Don't lie to me." I said slowly to him, with a hint of anger.

"You don't understand, things aren't getting better and my life isn't getting better either!" He yanks his hand from me.

"This isn't the end, there are other things that can give your life meaning." I shrugged my shoulders.

"Like what? You?" My heart shattered. I held in my tears.

"This is the part where you apologize to me." I told him.

"This is the part where you leave." He pointed to the party.

"Fine, if that's what you want, I can't watch yourself do this anymore, I tried." I shook my head, taking a step away from him.

"What too difficult for you?"

"Yes Draco, it is." I walked back to him. "It breaks my heart to see you this way. It really does."

"Dont pity me." He spat.

"Im not pitying you."

"You care so much dont you!" He yelled at me.

"Yes! Because you're my boyfriend! I'm supposed to care and worry about you!" I yelled at him, still trying to hold my tears in.

"I never asked you to do that." He rubs his face with his hands.

"Well you kinda did when you started dating me." I argued back. "Not only you embarrassed yourself tonight, you embarrassed me! You knew this party meant a lot to me! And you lied to me! Lied! How could you!" I pushed him. We stood in the middle of the hall, screaming our heads off at each other.

"How could I? You're the one holding more secrets when we started dating!" He pointed at me. "You've gotten so weak! You're letting your guard down."

"And thats a bad thing? Caring for someone i love is weak?"

"I don't know, why won't you ask Potter, you seem to care about him too." I took a step back.

"What?" I squinted my eyes.

"Why don't you go back in there, so he can tell you how beautiful you look again." He was there.

"It was you? You were in the corner." He watched everything. "Dont you dare! Let me remind you that you let me down! You! Dont you dare put this on me! Potter asked me, it meant nothing! We agreed to go our separate ways, so we won't look stupid when we walk in by ourselves and I was going to tell to you but you keep disappearing merlins knows where!"

"Why won't you date him instead!? Hm!" He gets in my face.

"I don't want him, I want you! It's always been you! It's always been us! Why would you even say that!"

"I see the way he looks at you. You know how I know? Because it's the same way I look at you." He nearly chokes on his words. "I'm not blind Daphne." I had a lump on my throat. "He gets what I want, and he wants you."

"I don't even like Potter! I only love you!" I pointed to him.

"That's not what it looked like when you let him complement you or clean his glasses or held his arm." So being the nice person makes me that bad guy.

"Really?" I scuffed. "You're just jealous!"

"I don't love you." I stopped for a moment, taking in what he just said. He looks up, not even saying it to my face.

"You're lying. You dont mean that." My voice cracks.

"I do." He looks down at me.

"Then say it again." I dared him. "Say it."

"I never loved you. You were just a bitch to me. You are like a disease, you suck everything up and nobody loves you. Not even your father." Tears just flooded out. I felt like I was punched, I just went numb. "You weren't worth it." He growls to me. My lip quivered. "It's over." I stood there, holding myself in my arms. How can he, the boy I love do this to me? I looked at him. He looked like he regretted everything.

"Screw you Draco, don't come crying to me when your life burns into flames." I sobbed. I ripped off the necklace he had given me, threw it at him, he looks away. I threw the rings he also got me at him again. He just stood there, watching them fall to the ground. "Why won't you give that to the next bitch you want to humiliate." I ran away, wiping my tears. Draco stood there, picking up the jewelry, swearing to himself. He just lost his love.

Potter watched the whole thing, to Draco and Snape talking about how Snape vowed to protect him, Draco lying to his daughter, to Draco and Daphnes break up, he ran inside to get Lisa. He told Lisa that Draco just broke up with Daphne. Lisa drops her drink and runs out, Blaise following her.

Daphne made it to her hiding spot. She barely made it to the bench. Her head laid on the seat, crying her eyes out. Lisa stops to see her, running to her best friend. Lisa rubs her back.

"I know. I know it hurts." She whispers to her.

"He said he never loved me." Lisa looks at Blaise who just caught up. It really broke Daphne. Draco made her feel herself, who she really was. Those words hit her like a train, merlins she swore that she felt her heart break completely. Daphne sobbed on Lisa's lap, stroking her hair. "What did I do that was so wrong?" Daphne now was in a dark place. Her world just went black. Something took over her. Numb.

"You did nothing wrong." Blaise looks at the crying girl. He never liked Draco, he knew he was an ass, but when he was with Daphne, he was a complete different person, a better person.

"Shhh." Lisa calms her down. "I'm here. I'm always going to be here." Lisa told Blaise to leave them. So now the two best friends sat there. Lisas cried because of the pain she can feel from Daphne. She had never seen her cry like this. Daphne held her hand. Shes glad that she came. "Let it out." Daphne sobs again.

Behind them, Draco watched as Daphne cried, Lisa holding her. He wipes his tears with his blazer, holding the necklace she threw. He did still love her, all of that was a lie. He just said it due to anger that he had inside him, and he just thought maybe, just maybe, if he broke up with her, nothing will hurt her. He was wrong, he was the one that hurt her. He knew that he wasn't going to have her back in his arms anymore. He really did mess up. He let the only one good thing in his life go.
