Wayne was heading to pick up Daphne. He had invited her to go to the beach with him and his friends. It was sorta of tradition, and he thought bringing Daphne would make it more fun. He had arrived at the home and honked. Daphne heard the honks and grabbed her bag, running down the stairs.
"See you later uncle Lucas!" She placed a kiss on his cheek.
"Don't worry about coming home late. Just be careful. Have fun." He shines a smile. Daphne waves and runs out. Leo was in the backseat, screaming her name.
"Daphne!" Leo kisses her cheek as they pulled out and drove. She wiped the sloppy kiss and talked to them both. They were meeting the others at the beach, already had a spot for them to sit at. The drive was long, Leo was being Leo, music was blasting through the radio. Once they got to the beach, Leo ran, carrying the bags. Wayne and Daphne walked there.
"Wayne!" Claudia called out but she saw them being too close. She was getting jealous. Wayne was her ex boyfriend who shes been trying to get back for months now. Ever since Daphne showed up, Claudia had to step it up, but it didn't matter for Wayne. He had eyes for Daphne already.
Wayne was scrunching his nose, trying not to get his glasses to fall. Daphne laughed and helped him. She stood on her tippy toes and pushed them up. She placed her hand on his cheek.
"Almost couldnt see how beautiful you are." He flirted. I turned red, from the heat and the comment.
"You're such a dork." I left him as I made my way to the spot. Everyone was starting to get into the water while I stayed back. They all played some muggle sport called volleyball and went for a swim. I sat back, drawing Wayne as he stood still, checking out the water, hands on his hips, he turns to me and runs. This is not happening. I closed my book and started running away from him. "Wayne no!" I screamed out. I was not going in the water. He caught me, put me on his shoulder and started walking towards the water.
"Too late." He drops me. Wayne laughs as I gasped, the water was cold. I dunked him under and pulls me with him. As we swam up, he holds me close to him. The dimple boy looked back me. His curly hair was dripping, hiding his face. I fixed his hair so I could look at him. Wayne leans in, about to kiss me but Leo comes in, pushing him under the water. I took a step back, cracking a smile. Was I going to kiss him back? This felt wrong, but why is it wrong? Wayne comes up, flipping his hair back. "Leo." He pointed at him.
"Leo." I repeated back. We walked out of the water, acting like we weren't about to kiss. I took off my shorts and shirt so they could dry in sun, Wayne hands me a towel and heads to Leo and Nico.
I sat alone, watching them laughing. I felt out of place. They already knew each other and I just came in. It doesn't feel like home. It wasn't the same without Lisa and Blaise. Claudia saw me, comes up, sitting down next to me.
"Why so sad?" She flips her hair.
"Not sad. Im fine." I gave her a smile. I had the vibe that she doesn't like me. We really don't speak to each other whenever Wayne drags me to hang out. I can sense her staring into my soul, ripping everything inside me apart. You have no idea how much I want to snap at her but I really do want to change. She wasn't worth it.
"Home sick?"
"A little. But here is nicer. I never been to the beach before. Only school, Diagon Alley and- You know what, I'm talking too much." I looked at Wayne again. He wasn't buff but he had some muscle, he was showing off his arms as Nico showed off his.
"You and Wayne?" I turned my head at her.
"No, just friends."
"Wayne and I used to date." She whispers. She's pretty. Brown hair, tan skin, golden honey eyes. She was taller, skinnier, her voice was sweet and smooth, her smile was perfect. I can see why he fell for her. "He still wants me. We just took a break. He wasn't himself when his mother died."
"I've heard. Tragic to what happened to her." Claudia was stunned.
"He told you about his mother?"
"Yeah."
"Im surprised. He usually doesn't like talking about her."
"Um." I gathered my thoughts. "We should go to them, looks like Nico and Leo are bring out the food." We both stood up and I saw Claudia running behind Wayne, hugging him. As he saw her, his smile fades. He looks around and see me. Nico puts his arms around my shoulder, swinging me side to side, singing drunkly into his bottle.
The night was coming to the end and we all sat by the fire. Claudia was getting comfortable with Wayne, as I getting comfortable with Nico. Nico was quiet, likes to keep to himself. He's a nice guy, reminds me of Neville for some reason. Everyone told stories about their schools and people they've meet such as Viktor Krum. I sat back listening and sipping on my drink.

Its been a month since the day at the beach. I remember that the ride home was quiet. Claudia stopped hanging out with everyone, only she would hang out with Wayne. I didn't mind. Wayne eventually got suspicious about us and he found out that she lied and stopped talking to Claudia.
I went into town, getting more things, food, postcards, and some paints. I walked with my bike, stopping by the vendors and checking out what they had.
"Nini!" Wayne. He waved at me and came to me. He huffs as if he ran a marathon.
"Are you stalking me now Wayne?"
"Am not! But if you do see Leo, that means he's stalking you." He joked, making me laugh. "Postcards huh?" He started to join me, picking them out.
"For Lisa."
"Neville and Blaise." He finishes. I've wrote to Lisa about Wayne and she wants to meet him. She said that he sounds too good to be true. "How about this one for Neville?" I snatched the postcard from him, adding it to the collection. I headed my way to pay for them, and went to the next vendor. I needed to get more strawberries since Wayne started to eat my food whenever he comes over.
"Don't you got things to do?"
"Me? No. They can wait. I cant have you be out here all alone."
"Ah, in a town like this." The town wasn't even bad. As I walked, picked my fruit, Wayne comes, snatches a flower and gives it to me. He was such a little flirt.
"My lady."
"I am not your lady." He whispers something under his breath and I started to head my way home. Wayne followed me, annoying me on the way back. I let him enter the home, started to organize the food and we went to my room. I sat on my desk, starting to write my postcards as he laid on my bed. It was so quiet that you can hear the water from the lake.
"We might have a problem Nini." He broke the silence.
"Oh no." I turned myself around, sat up straight, giving him a shy smile. What is he up to now?
"See, im not sick of ya, turns out, im in love with ya." My heart stopped. He wasn't Draco. He will never be him. Wayne is different. He's a wonderful man but I feel like that I'm cheating on Draco in way. His death still hurts me, i still think about him everyday, every minute, every second. I can't let him go. Draco would've hated this man, he's too bubbly, nerdy, too smiley. He would definitely be picking on him on day one.
I love Draco, but I have to let go. He's not coming back. I hate myself for doing this. I looked at Wayne. He looks nothing like him. He's a nice man, treats me good, Draco would like that at least. I got up from my desk, sitting next to him. I leaned in, so did Wayne. We collided. His hand gently placed on my cheek. The kiss was soft, gentle.
"Daphne..." Wayne pulls away. His hazel green eyes simmered at me. I need to go on with my life. I've had time to grieve, I won't forget Draco, how could I? We will meet again and be together then. I will always carry Draco in my heart.
"It's okay." I whispered back.
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure." I placed another kissed one his cheek. "Just try your best and make it worth it, right?"
