Chapter 2

I opened the door to the girls' bathroom in the dorm building and frowned in slight distaste at the brick pink tiles. From what I could tell, no one else was in here, which was quite a rare thing. Ignoring it, I went over the sink and turned the faucet on, making the temperature cold, but enough to where it wouldn't hurt my hands anymore than they already were.

My hands stung slightly as I shoved them under the water, making me grimace. As I left them there, my eyes traveled to the mirror to stare at my neck. The handprint had disappeared, leaving only the handwriting. The skin there was bruised from Hoody's strong grip on it; the colors consisted of nasty blues and purples.

It left a strange feeling in my gut as questions began to enter my mind once more. I quickly shook them away and turned off the faucet before grabbing paper towels. Gently, I dabbed at my palms before soaking up the rest of the water with the dry parts of the paper towels. I threw them away before rushing out of here and walking towards my dorm.

While walking, I looked around the lit-up campus. Very few students lingered around, various different people with different styles and colors decorating their bodies.

A glimpse of yellow shone through a bush, making me stop as I stared at it. As soon as I blinked, it was gone, making me furrow my brows. "What the hell?" I whispered to myself before I began to continue my journey.

My pace was faster than before as I chewed on the inside of my bottom lip, tearing at the layer of skin with my teeth. It was a bit of a bad habit of mine whenever I needed to fidget, but there was nothing else. Sometimes I do it to the point where I get a canker sore. Those things suck, but go away after a few days.

I shook my head to clear my mind of thoughts as I pulled out my card to get back into the dorm building. My feet hurriedly carried me through the first floor's halls to end up in front of my dorm room.

Pressing the card against the sensor, I pushed open the door and closed it once I was fully inside. A quiet conversation came from the left side of the room, meaning Katie and her soulmate, Carrie, were most likely cuddling.

I saw the clothes littered on the floor and grimaced, lace bras and panties being the most obvious giveaway of what had occured. "Y'all seriously did that?"

A small chuckle came from Katie as she grinned at me. "You were taking a while, so Carebear and I just did one round." Her attention shifted from my eyes to my neck, eyes widening at the bruising. "You met your soulmate?"

She and Carrie practically jumped into sitting positions, making the blanket fall and show their chests. I let out a small screech as I grabbed their shirts and chucked them in their direction. "My poor innocent eyes!" I whined as I shut them tightly.

A loud laugh left Katie and a small giggle came from the small girl beside her. Shuffling was heard as the two most likely put on the shirts. Opening my eyes, I saw they were both fully dressed, making me sigh in relief. "Okay, now answer Kat's question!" The innocent voice of Carrie demanded, making me stick out my tongue.

"You sound and act so innocent, but you're just so, so dirty." I sighed as I looked between the two women. "And yes, I did meet Hoody."

Squeals left both of their mouths, showing their obvious joy as they bounced from the extra energy. "What are they like? What do they look like? What's their nickname for you? Tell us!" Katie begged as she grabbed my shoulders.

"I can only really answer one of those questions because I really don't know how to answer the other ones." Katie and Carrie looked at me expectantly and I slightly shrunk under their gaze. "His nickname for me is Starlight."

"That's such a cute nickname." Carrie sang as she clapped her hands together. Katie nodded in agreement, making a small blush coat my face as my lips formed into a frown.

"I guess, but he's not the best person. I should probably stay away from him as much as possible." A sigh left my lips as I pushed past them to get to my bed.

I flopped down and stared at the ceiling, looking at the boring shade of off-white. It was smooth and no decorations were on it, especially not on my side.

"How did the meeting go between you two?" Katie's voice was soft and gentle as she spoke, almost as if she didn't want to hurt me in any way.

I shut my eyes as I took in a small breath, being careful of the bruising on my neck. "I was walking back here, but on the way, I was dragged into an alleyway, a hand wrapped tightly around my neck. My feet couldn't touch the floor; my back was pressed harshly against the wall, and in my panic, I grabbed onto his forearm. As soon as my hands made contact with him, a cooling sensation spread throughout my body, originating from my neck.

"I'm assuming it was out of surprise, but he let go, allowing me to fall to the ground. I stared up at him and he pulled out his gun once we stopped our physical contact. He threatened to kill me if I screamed for help, so I stayed silent. After realizing I wasn't going to do anything against him, he put the gun back into the pocket of his hoodie.

"He then pulled me up by my arm and began dragging me out of the alleyway, to the direction of our college. The streets were eerily silent save for our footsteps. I, of course, questioned him about a few things before we saw a man walking down the sidewalk on the other side. As much as I would've loved to scream and get help, I'd probably be dead or worse before it arrived.

"He pulled me close and kept his face away from the direction of the man as Hoody talked about how he hated that specific person. He also mentioned that even though the man and him have the same enemy, the man is a traitor to him. By the time that conversation ended, we had arrived. I only realized it after he pushed me into the lights in front of the campus. He was still strangely shrouded in darkness, but he left after a few snarky comments."

Carrie sat next to me on my bed and placed a hand on my shoulder as Katie stood close to her soulmate's side. "There's always going to be bad people in our lives. The thing that matters is how you treat them. Maybe if you guys meet again, you two can be nice to each other and get along." The smaller girl advised, giving my shoulder a small squeeze.

"Maybe, but there's no guarantee I'll ever see him again. He's most likely a murderer on the run from the police, and I really don't wanna deal with that. Even so, he's a bit of an asshole."

"You must have a type then." Katie deadpanned as she narrowed her eyes at me. I raised a questioning brow at her statement, wanting her to elaborate. "Hunter is quite the asshole at times, my dear. You can't deny that. He may seem all sweet and kind, but we both know how rude and mean he can be."

My frown deeped at her words as I immediately denied anything. "I do not like Hunter, and I never have."

She rolled her eyes at me before going back over to her bed and flopping down on it. "Whatever you say, girlie." Carrie immediately followed her and laid down on top of her soulmate. "Next time you get up, shut the lights off, so we can sleep in peace."

I groaned before pushing myself up and out of my comfy spot. I trudged over to the light switch and flicked it before going back over to my bed and lying on it.

The darkness and silence of the room lulled me to sleep; the only sounds other than my breathing were the pair of soulmates' breathing and the noise of the small city outside.

Bright light pushed its way through the window in our dorm, stirring me from my peaceful sleep. I opened my eyes, groaning at the sudden brightness as I grabbed my phone. The time read '11:38', making me jump up before I remembered my classes for today got cancelled.

As I scanned the room, I found no physical trace of Katie or Carrie. My phone buzzed in my hand, making my attention turn to it as I opened the message.

Katie

hey, im assuming you finally woke up. carebear and i wont be back for a few hours. classes and then a movie date.

Alright! Have fun!

we will ;)

-_-

Goodbye

bye babes!

I closed the messages after rolling my eyes. A knock on the window startled me, making me look towards it with alarmed eyes. The sight of a dirty, yellow hoodie made me raise an eyebrow.

Even if I probably shouldn't have, I opened the window anyway after I got out of my comfy bed. "Hoody?" I asked groggily as he began climbing in, forcing me to step back.

"Good morning, Starlight." It took me a moment to process that he had just come through the window of my dorm room. He shut the window behind him and set his dirty, black backpack on the clean floor.

I stumbled back as I looked at him with wide eyes. "How the hell did you find me in here?"

He seemed to just blankly stare at me from behind his mask before his quiet voice rang through my ears. "I followed you here last night." A small shriek left me as I fell onto my bed; the hooded man standing in the same place as before. "Shut the hell up." Hoody hissed as he dug into his bag, making me tense as I stared at him.

I flinched a bit when I saw him bring out a pack of Uno cards. My face grew blank at the sight as I completely relaxed. "You came here to play Uno?"

"I'm bored." was his simple response, plopping down onto my floor and crossing his legs. He gestured to the empty spot in front of him, wanting me to sit. I followed the silent instruction and he dealt seven cards to me, and seven for him.

I picked up my cards, a small smirk wanting to make its way onto my face as I organized my cards.

Oh, he is so going down.
