Chapter 12

I sat in the back of Mr. Harrington's lecture hall, listening to his lecture on what happened during the Civil War in the U.S. and taking notes on it. I hated history, but I didn't pass the AP exam in high school, so I had to take it again.

Mr. Harrington wasn't a bad teacher, but his voice was enough to make me want to fall asleep aside from the class being history of all things. As long as you took notes and studied the notes, you'd pass the exam. That is what he's told us since the beginning of the year. Worked last semester, so I hoped it'd work again this semester.

Katie sat next to me, practically asleep on top of her notebook as she slowly doodled a few drawings. "Can I copy your notes later?" She whispered as she tiredly glanced over at me. I nodded and wrote down something else that Mr. Harrington said with disinterest. "You're a lifesaver."

"You tell me every history class, Kate." I chuckled as I glanced down at her again.

"I can't wait for this class to be over and you can go to chem and I can go to bio."

"Remind me why you're a bio major again?"

"I enjoy it."

"Why do you enjoy chemistry so much?"

"I just find it fun."

"Vice versa, my dear."

I smiled and continued writing information shoved into my ears down onto the lined paper.

Katie flipped to a new page and began a much larger sketch than her previous doodling. I glanced down every so often throughout the class to see her work only to find out she was sketching me taking notes.

She was a very good artist, and I sometimes express my thoughts about her becoming an artist rather than a biologist, but she merely denies the thoughts every time.

When the lecture was done, she was only done with the sketch of me with another person laying their head on my lap even though I was alone in that picture.

"Who else are you putting in the drawing?"

"Hoody! Who else would I put in there?"

"I don't know! Yourself?"

She pulled a fake disgusted face. "No! Gross!"

"I'd love to have you on my lap."

"How sweet."

"We should probably get to our next classes because they both start in half an hour."

"Damn. See ya later then!"

"Bye."

After I walked the long way around campus, I sighed happily at the sight of the chemistry classroom. I walked in and greeted Mrs. Duffer with a grin. "Good afternoon, Mrs. Duffer!"

"Good afternoon, (Y/n). Is your neck okay?" She asked, a worried look crossing her face as she set down a few graded papers.

"It's fine at the moment. Hardly ever hurts anymore since I met my soulmate. I forgot to put on a scarf this morning, it seems." I chuckled before heading over to my seat at the back.

I noticed Katie texted me about the biology teacher cancelling class today and I internally cheered because it meant this was the last class of the day.

More students began to file in, which I ignored as I got out my chemistry notebook, a mechanical pencil, and my folder. My phone buzzing took all of my attention and I flipped it over to see Hoody had sent a text message. I made sure I had enough time to have a short conversation and smiled slightly when I saw I had five minutes left.

Hoody

I can't see where you are at in your classroom.

Too bad
I am going to be learning chemistry and I'm certainly going to enjoy it

I'm going to gather blackmail on Katie, Cameron, and Hunter then to ease my boredom.

Why on them?

Oh, and Carrie, Stacy and Lukas. Can't forget those three.

But why tho

So they won't tell anyone else, for fun, and to make it easier to kill them, especially Hunter.

Oh-
Why do you think Masky hired Hunter out of all people?

He was close to you and the others. Masky probably assumed Hunter was completely stable and wouldn't give himself away. Idiot probably forgot I don't sleep much and am almost constantly on the move.

How long do you usually sleep?

Five or six hours max at a time.

You should come take another nap in my dorm later and I'll join you
Maybe I can have a good dream rather than a nightmare for the first time since I met you

What was it like last night?

I was dying in someone's lap with immense pain coming from my stomach
Everything around me was a straight-up blur as well

Interesting.
What makes you think we'll have good dreams?

The only decent dream that occurred was the day we slept in one of your bases or whatever they are
Even then, we died in the end

I'll consider it. Pay attention to class now. It's about to start.

Aight
