Chapter 40 - The Quidditch World Cup
Y/Ns POV
I was woken up very early by a pillow thrown at my head. As I leaned up to find the culprit, Heather and Ginny were standing near me and Hermione's doorway.
"Rise and shine." Ginny smirked.
"Real nice of you to knock." I responded groggily.
"We didn't mean to wake you, sleeping bitchy." Heather said. "Besides, it's time to wake up, Mum said we have to get everything ready."
A/N: I really hope someone gets this reference
"Alright, I'll wake up Mione." I said as they left the room.
As I got up from my bed, I saw Hermione resting peacefully in her bed. She looks really cute when she's asleep.
"Mione." I said softly as I shook her. "It's time to wake up."
"Mmm." She groaned. "Five more minutes, babe."
"Babe, huh?" I smirked.
Her eyes opened wide as she shot out of the bed. "Y/N!" She exclaimed. "What are you doing up so early?!"
"We have to get ready to leave." I replied. "Sounds like you had a pleasant dream from what I heard."
"It was about nothing!" She said rather fast while blushing. "Nothing at all!"
"Right...." I said. "Heather and Ginny came in, we have to be up and getting ready."
"Alright." She smiled. "I'll wait for you to get ready, and then we can go and wake everyone else."
I side hugged her for a bit, grabbed some clothes, and went into another room to change.
Eventually, I walked outside ready to go. I wore a bright red jumper, a pair of dark blue jeans, a set of trainers, and my Dad's watch. Hermione was wearing a pink collared shirt, a jacket, dark jeans, and some trainers.
She looked really.......cute to be quite honest.
Hopefully this year I can tell her how I feel about her, and confess that I'm in love with her.
I feel like she feels the same way, but you can never be too sure.
"Hey." She said, breaking me away from my thoughts. "We should go wake up the others."
I smiled and went to follow her out the door, but before we could head out, Gracie let out a loud cry, like she didn't want me to leave.
"Hey, Gracie." I smiled as she strutted over to me. "Unfortunately, you can't come with us to the match. I'm sorry, girl."
She then started butting her head against my leg, meowing sadly.
"Don't worry." I said softly. "You'll have Crookshanks here to keep you company, I'll be back tonight, okay?"
That seemed to do it for her as she butted my leg once more before going back to lay with Crookshanks.
As we entered Harry and Ron's room, Harry was shaking violently in his bed.
"Harry!" Hermione said as she walked up to him as he shot up from the bed. "Are you alright?"
"Hermione, Y/N." He said as he still panicked. "Bad dream."
I walked over to Ron's bed and shook him. "Oi, Ron, time to wake up mate!"
Ron groaned in his sleep.
"We mean it, Ron." Hermione walked over and shook him.
"Is dearest Ronald still asleep?" Heather came from behind us.
"We have something that will help with that." Ginny smirked as she carried in a bucket full of water.
God I love this family.
Ginny walked over to Ron's bed and poured the bucket onto his head, spilling water all over his face.
Ron shot up from the bed drenched in water. He glared at us as we all laughed uncontrollably.
"What the bloody hell was that for?" He exclaimed.
"Relax, mate." Harry said. "You get to see your man crush, Viktor Krum today."
Suddenly, Ron's glare turned into a grin as he shot out of bed and went to get ready.
I still don't understand why Krum is so special.
"Mum says breakfast is ready." Heather said. "We should get going."
One Hour Later
Hermione's POV
After we ate breakfast and got some last minute things in order, we were walking towards our destination.
"Where are we actually going?" Harry asked us.
"Don't know." Ron said. "Hey Dad! Where are we going?"
"Haven't the foggiest." Mr. Weasley said. "Keep up!"
We walked for hours on end with no stops whatsoever. Percy, Bill, and Charlie were lucky enough to be apparating there.
"I can't believe we have to walk all the way there!" Heather groaned. "Why couldn't we have just apparated?"
"A Portkey would be much faster." I said.
"You are most certainly right Y/N!" Mr. Weasley exclaimed. "Because that is what we are taking."
I was starting to get a bit tired of walking, so Y/N offered to give me a piggyback ride since he wasn't getting tired.
"Are you sure?" I asked. "Won't I tire you carrying me on your back?"
"It's alright, Mione." He said. "I don't carry much anyway."
"Can I?" He asked, pointing to my bag as I nodded. He lifted the bag from my shoulder and put it on his shoulder as I jumped onto his back, wrapping my arms around his neck as we continued to walk.
Eventually, we arrived at the village of Ottery St, Catchpole near the top of Stoatshead Hill.
"Whew!" Mr. Weasley said, well we've made good time—-we have 10 minutes."
"Finally." Heather exclaimed.
"Doing alright, Mione." Y/N asked as he turned his head a little.
"I'm okay." I nodded. "You didn't have to carry me."
"I know." He said. "I wanted to though."
"Still." I said again. "I appreciate it." I kissed his cheek as we both blushed madly.
"Over here, Arthur!" Someone called out. "Over here, son, we've got it!"
Two figures came over the hill, one had a scrubby brown beard and was holding a grimy old boot.
The other one looked very familiar.
"Amos!" Mr. Weasley called as he shook the mans free hand while I hopped off Y/Ns back. "This is Amos Diggory, everyone! He works for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. And I think you all know his son, Cedric?"
A/N: I'm vengeance
Oh him! He was the Hufflepuff Seeker and team captain. Every girl was fawning over him.
I had to admit Cedric was quite cute, but I liked someone else. A certain someone.
"Hi." Cedric said as he waved nervously to all of us as everyone else said hello.
"Long walk, Arthur?" Mr. Diggory asked.
"Not too bad." Mr. Weasley replied. "We live on the other side of that village, you?"
"Had to get up at two, didn't we, Ced? I tell ya, I'll be glad when he's got his apparition test. Still.....not complaining.....Quidditch World Cup, wouldn't miss it for a sackful of Galleons—-and the tickets cost about that. Mind you, looks like I got off easy.."
He looked around at us and asked, "All these yours, Arthur?"
"Oh no, Only the redheads." Mr. Weasley assured. "This is Hermione, friend of Ron's, Y/N, also friend of Ron's—-and Harry, another friend of—"
Before he could finish, Mr. Diggory's eyes widened. "Merlins beard. Harry? Harry Potter?" He said as he walked over to Y/N. "And you must be Thomas's nephew!"
"That's correct, sir." Y/N said as he shook his hand.
"Ced's talked about Harry, of course. Told us all about playing him last year, lucky grab that was Harry. That would have been one to tell the grandchildren Ced, You beat Harry Potter!"
Cedric looked a bit embarrassed. "It was a great catch Dad." He said. "And he did it while falling."
"At least you didn't fall off your broom, didn't you?" Mr. Diggory bellowed, embarrassing him even further. "Always the modest one, our Ced, always the gentlemen...but I have to agree, the best man won. But you don't need to be a genius to tell which ones the better flyer! One falls off his broom, one stays on!"
Before Amos could boast some more, Mr. Weasley stopped him. "Must be nearly time." He said as he pulled out a watch. "Do you know whether we're waiting for more, Amos?"
"The Fawcetts couldn't get tickets." Amos told him. "The Raywood's had to give theirs up so they could go on holiday. There aren't any more of us in the area, are there?"
"Not that I know of. Yes it's been a minute off....we'd better get ready.."
He looked at all of us. "You need to touch the Portkey, that's all, a finger will do-"
Mr. Diggory placed the boot onto the ground as we all laid on the ground, placing a finger on the boot.
"Three.." Mr. Weasley said. "Two....one..."
Suddenly, we were all lifted off the ground and began to spin around in a circle, after we spun for a while, Mr. Weasley shouted, "Let go, kids!"
"What?" I said.
"Let! Go!" As we heard him, we all let go and eventually all slammed to the ground. As I slammed onto the ground, I heard a voice say, "Seven past five from Stoatshead Hill."
Y/Ns POV
"Why, hello there." I smirked as Hermione landed on top of me with our heads nearly touching.
"H-Hey." She stuttered as we both began to blush madly.
"Should we get up now?"
"Oh, oh yes." She said as she stood and helped me up.
"Quite the landing that was." Cedric said to us. "You two alright?"
Cedric surprisingly didn't make any moves on Hermione and was pretty friendly, definitely not what I was expecting.
"Yeah, I think we are." I said.
"You're one of Gryffindors Chasers right?" He asked. "You're pretty good for a Chaser."
"Why thank you." I said as I shook his hand. "And I know all about you of course, not bad of a Seeker are ya?"
"That's right." He chuckled before looking at me. "By the way, you think you could introduce me to that cute readhead?" He said while motioning towards Heather.
"Oh that's Heather." Hermione said. "Shes Ron's twin sister."
Cedric looked at Hermione as if she had grown two heads before looking at Ron.
"How?" He asked as we both shrugged.
"I couldn't tell you."
"Alright." He chuckled. "I'll see ya mate." He then left with a pat on my shoulder before going to talk to Heather for a bit, and go off with his Dad.
Hermione went to go talk to Heather as Ginny came up to me.
"So." She said. "Have you asked Hermione out yet?"
"I haven't." I sighed. "I'm really nervous about it, Ginny! Whenever we have a moment together, we never get to finish with what we have to say! What I need to do is find the right place, and the right time to tell her how I feel."
"That's good thinking." Ginny nodded. "Maybe a moment where it's just the two of you alone by yourselves."
"That's actually really good advice, Gin." I said. "I'll keep that in mind. Thank you!"
"Of course." She smiled. "You practically are another brother of mine."
"I appreciate that." I said.
"But you should tell her quick." She said. "I heard Terry Boot was looking to brew a love potion over holiday to give to her."
"Terry Boot can shove off." I said as Ginny giggled.
We made our way down to the site, where Mr. Weasley had some trouble exchanging for Muggle currency, so me and Hermione had to help him out. Eventually, we made the tent by Muggle ways since Mr. Weasley insisted on doing it that way. Ron complained the entire time as we all helped to set up the tent.
I knew a good amount of Muggle things coming from spending my early life as a Muggle. So I had a good understanding of it.
As we entered the tent, it was way bigger on the inside.
Mr. Weasley counted us to make sure we all had a good number. "Okay, so we got 5 boys and 3 girls, someone will have to sleep in the girls tent i believe."
All the boys looked at me as Ron pushed me forward. I guess they all non verbally voted for me.
"Guess it's me then." I said.
"Yay!" Heather exclaimed. "This will be fun."
In the corner of my eye, I could see Hermione giving her a heated glare.
"Right then!" Mr. Weasley announced. "Girls and Y/N, choose your bunks, Ron get out of the kitchen, we're all hungry."
"Yeah, get out of the kitchen, Ron!" Fred and George exclaimed.
"Feet off the table."
"Feet off the table!" They said as they removed their legs for an instant before placing them back on the table.
As I walked into the girls bunks, there was a slight problem. There were only 3 beds, one of said beds could have two people sleep in it.
"Wonderful." I said to myself.
"So." Ginny said. "Me and Heather will take the two beds and Y/N and Hermione can share that bed."
"I don't mind." Hermione said as she took my hand, which calmed me down immensely. "Do you?"
"If you're uncomfortable, he can share with me." Heather said as Ginny smacked her on the arm.
"I don't mind, Mione." I said. "At least I won't have to listen to Ron talk about his man crush on Krum."
Hermione, Heather, and I stepped out of our section of the tent where Mr. Weasley was instructing us on what to do. "Why don't you two, Harry, Hermione, and Y/N go and get us some water," he said to Ron and Heather as he handed over a kettle and a couple of saucepans. "And the rest of us will get some wood for a fire?"
"But we've got an oven!" Ron retorted to his father. "Why can't we just—"
"Ron, anti-Muggle technology!" Mr. Weasley said happily. "When real Muggles camp, they cook fires outdoors. I've seen them at it!"
We ventured out into the insanity, where more people were camped around the site. People were cooking, conjuring fires, drinking, or in deep conversation.
"Is it just my eyes, or has everything gone green?" Ron asked as we walked into a crowd of people all supporting the Irish.
"I mean, you're not wrong"
"Harry! Ron! Y/N! Hermione!" A familiar Irish voice called out to us. Which revealed itself to be our fellow Gryffindor Seamus Finnegan. He was joined by someone, presumably his Mother, as well as Dean Thomas and Raymond Gonzaga, other fellow Gryffindors.
"Like the decoration?" Raymond asked.
"Ministries not too happy." Seamus continued.
"Fudge can shove off." I said. "We should have our fun."
"Exactly, why shouldn't we show our colors?" Said Mrs. Finnegan. "You should see what the Bulgarians have got dangling all over their tents. You'll be supporting Ireland of course?"
"Absolutely, Mrs Finnegan." I said.
"Me too!" Hermione added.
"Like we'd say anything else surrounded by that lot." Ron said as we left them.
"What do the Bulgarians have dangling from their tents?" Heather asked.
Our question was answered as we came across a poster of a bald, egg headed man who was moving, but all it did was blink and scowl.
"Krum." Ron said.
"What?" Hermione asked.
"Obsessing over your man crush again, Ron?" A voice called from behind us, revealing our trio of Ravenclaw friends Sam, Axel, and Thea.
"Hi guys!" Hermione exclaimed as she hugged Thea.
"Oh, not this nonsense." Sam facepalmed as he saw the poster.
"Krum!" Ron said. "Viktor Krum, the Bulgarian Seeker."
"Every time I see his stupid face, I have a slight urge to go up to him and punch him." Sam said angrily.
"I'm guessing you hate Krum?" Harry asked.
"Hate is quite the understatement, Harry." He replied.
"The blokes a daft idiot." Thea said. "I don't get what's so great about him, he'd be a nice spokesperson for egg commercials however."
As we moved on, Sam and Ron continued to argue about Krum while Axel made an attempt to make conversation with Heather.
"Hi, my names Axel." He said cheekily.
"And I.." Heather began. "Am way out of your league."
"Tough luck mate." I chuckled as he walked towards me.
"Shove off!" Axel exclaimed.
We met up with Oliver Wood, our old Quidditch Captain, he introduced us to his parents and told us that he signed to the Puddlemere United Reserve Team. We also met up with Pansy and Mia, who both greeted me with a hug, which, from the corner of my eye, earned them a glare from Hermione.
However that glare softened as Mia told us that she and Pansy were now a couple. Which made us all very happy.
We passed by a few teenagers, but what was brought to my attention was a small girl looking around wildly, as if she was lost. She looked very young as well.
"Hey, hey." I comforted her. "Are you okay?"
A/N: French parts and Dialogue will be italicized. Like this: "French"
"Who are you? Where is my cousin?"
"I'm sorry, what?" I asked, looking to the others for help until Heathers eyes widened.
"She speaks French." She said. "I can help with this."
"What is your name?" Heather said in French as she crouched down to the girls level.
"My name is Gabrielle Delacour. My cousins name is Natasha." The girl responded.
Heathers eyes widened as she turned to me, Hermione, and Sam. "I know the girl she's talking about."
I know your cousin, don't worry, we'll help you find her.
The girl smiled and took Heathers hand, who had offered it to her. We told Harry and Ron that we would help her and meet them back at camp as Sam told his friends he would meet them later, as he was coming to help us.
Moments later, we heard someone call out Gabrielle's name.
"Gabrielle." The voice called out. "Gabrielle, where are you?"
"Natasha!" Gabrielle said as an older girl with red hair came looking and smiled as she laid her eyes on Gabrielle.
"Thank goodness you're alright." She said. "Don't scare me like that! Where were you?"
"I was lost, but these nice people helped me find you."
Natasha looked up at us and her eyes widened as she saw Heather.
"Heather!" She said happily in a French accent as she ran up and embraced her. "It's wonderful to see you, thank you so much for finding Gabrielle!"
"It was no problem." Heather replied. "She was very sweet."
Natasha then turned to us.
"You speak English?" She asked as we nodded. "Thank you so much for finding my cousin. I'd never hear the end of it from Fleur. What are your names?"
"I'm Y/N, and these are my friends Hermione and Sam."
"Thank you so much!" She exclaimed.
"I didn't do much." Sam chuckled. "But thank you anyway."
As Natasha looked at Sam, I could see a faint blush on both of their faces.
"I hope we can see each other again!" Natasha said as she grabbed Gabrielles hand.
"Same to the both of you." Hermione said.
"Take care, Gabrielle. Stay close to Nat now. Bye!" Heather said.
Gabrielle gave a small wave with a smile as they both turned to leave, but not without Natasha giving one last look at Sam before they did so.

Harry's POV
Y/N, Hermione, and Heather eventually joined us back at camp after parting ways with Sam. Mr. Weasley was struggling with the matchsticks. Lots of matches were on the ground as Y/N and I began to help him make the fire.
As we were doing this, we began to cook our eggs and sausages. Bill, Charlie, and Percy had apparated and came out of the woods right next to us. "Just apparated, Dad." Percy said proudly. "Ah, excellent, lunch!"
"You don't say." Y/N said sarcastically. "Got anything else to add captain obvious?"
Another man came around as Mr. Weasley announced his arrival. "The man of the moment! Ludo!"
"Ahoy there!" the man shouted happily as he walked to the campsite. "Arthur, old man, what a day, eh? What a day! Could we have asked for more perfect weather? A cloudless night coming...and hardly a hiccup in the arrangement....not much fun for me to do."
"Ah—yes." Mr. Weasley said as Percy ran to Ludo in hopes to make a good impression. "This is my son Percy—he's just started at the Ministry—and this is Fred—-no, George, sorry—-that's Fred—-Bill, Charlie, Ron—-my daughters, Heather and Ginny—-and Ron's friends, Harry Potter, Y/N L/N, and Hermione Granger."
Ludo looked at everyone, and especially at me, most likely due to my scar.
"Everyone." Mr. Weasley said. "This is Ludo Bagman, you know who he is, it's thanks to him we got such good tickets—"
"Fancy a flutter on the match, Arthur?" Bagman asked immediately as he pulled a bag of gold from his pockets. "I've got Roddy Pontner betting me Bulgaria will score first—I offered him nice odds, considering Ireland's front three are the strongest I've seen in years, and little Agatha Timmd has half shares in her eel farm on a week long match!"
"Oh....go on then," Mr. Weasley said. "Let's see....a Galleon on Ireland to win?"
"A Galleon? Very well, very well....any other takers?" He asked us.
"They're a bit young to be gambling." Mr. Weasley said. "Molly wouldn't like-"
"We'll bet 37 Galleons, 15 Sickles, and 3 Knuts." Fred said as George and him pooled their money, "that Ireland wins—but Viktor Krum gets the Snitch. Oh, and we'll throw in a fake wand."
"Ah, what the hell?" I said. "I'll bet 200 galleons that Ireland wins, but by 10 points."
"You don't want to go showing Mr. Bagman rubbish like that—" Percy said before Bagman hollered with laughter.
"Excellent! I'd pay 10 galleons for that prediction!"
Percy looked a mix between flustered and furious.
As the adults began to talk about the match, Percy went on and on about this man names Barry Crouch, who I guess happens to be his boss.
"Mr. Crouch?" Percy asked. "He speaks over two-hundred languages! Mermaid and Gobbledegook and Troll.."
"Anyone can speak Troll," Fred said, very annoyed at Percy. "All you have to do is point and grunt."
Bagman prepared to get ready to leave, but he did mention something happening at Hogwarts that caught all of our attention.
"What's happening at Hogwarts, Mr. Weasley?" Y/N asked.
"You'll find out soon enough." Mr. Weasley smiled.
"It's classified information." Percy interjected. "Until such a time as the Ministry decides to release it. Mr. Crouch was quite right not to disclose it."
"Oh shut up, Weatherby." Fred and Y/N said in annoyance as they high fived each other.
"Why don't you get in bed with Mr. Crouch if you're that obsessed with him." Heather said as we all laughed.

Hermione's POV
"Been saving my pocket money all summer for this." Ron said as he bought a small figure of Viktor Krum.
"Ron, he looks like giant pumpkin." Y/N said. "Get that out of my face."
Ron looked at Y/N angrily and put the figure back into his pocket.
We had all bought mercy for Ireland, while Ron had bought them for Bulgaria. Heather, Ginny, Y/N, and I had bought scarfs for Ireland while Harry had painted his face. Ron had painted his face red for Bulgaria.
"Wow, look at these!" Harry said as he looked at some binocular like devices but in brass with lots of knobs and dials.
"I think these are omnioculars." Heather said.
"Right you are, young lady!" The sales wizard said eagerly. "You can replay action...slow everything down....and they flash up a play by play breakdown if you need it. Bargain—ten galleons each."
"I wish I wouldn't have bought this now." Ron said sadly as he looked at his Krum figure.
Y/N pulled out his money and said. "Six pairs."
"Don't you dare." Ron said to him.
"It's alright mate." Y/N said. "Now you have some omnioculars and you can keep your stupid figure."
He then passed a few pairs towards Heather and Harry and a pair to me.
"The last one is for Ginny." He said.
"Aw, Y/N, you didn't have to but these for us." I said.
"Think of it as an early birthday present." Y/N said with a smile.
"Oh! That reminds me! I found something for your birthday! I'll be right back!"
"Hermione, we need to go." Ron complained.
"Shut up, Billius." Heather smacked him on the head as we laughed. "We'll wait for you Hermione."
"Thanks guys." I said as I ran off to a tent I saw earlier that had different kinds of jewelry and accessories inside.
I found something inside earlier today that I think Y/N will really appreciate.
It was quite expensive to say the least, but with my exchanges Muggle currency I was able to buy him a fancy peridot ring that I thought was really nice, peridot being for the birthstone for August.
I paid for the ring, and went outside to meet up with the others.
Mr. Weasley came around with Ginny, Fred, and George and the other Weasleys.
"It's time!" He said. "Let's go!"
