Chapter 37 - Into The Shrieking Shack
3rd Person POV
Y/N zoomed across the pitch atop Harry's Firebolt, while Malfoy hid behind Tom and Lucian, looking very frightened to chase after Y/N as he had done with Harry moments ago.
Lee Jordan became sick of the Slytherins constant cheating and was very evident of whose side he was on, and surprisingly, Professor McGonagall did not scold him once, as she too, was tired of the Slytherins cheating.
"Katie Bell gets the Quaffle for Gryffindor, Come on, Katie, LETS GO!"
Shockingly enough, every Slytherin player who was not the Keeper, was streaking up the pitch towards Katie.
All of them were going to block her.
Y/N then decided to attempt a risky move, bending low so his body was across the handle. He then kicked off straight like a bullet towards the Slytherin players.
The Slytherins dispersed out of the way as Y/N zoomed towards them.
Katie's path was clear to the hoops, she launched the Quaffle towards the middle hoop,
Only for it to be miraculously saved by Mia Blackwood, the Slytherin Keeper.
With a smirk, Mia threw the Quaffle back to Cassius Warrington for the game to continue.
Y/N streaked around the pitch until he reached the middle, where he skidded to a halt while in mid air.
There it was, a tiny, golden, glimmer of light was zooming across the pitch.
Chasing after it was Draco Malfoy with a triumph grin on his face.
Y/N, who didn't want to put up with Malfoy's shit if Slytherin had won the match, rushed towards him, running into Malfoy, and stopping him from claiming victory.
Because of Y/Ns surprise appearance, Malfoys broom skid to a stop, nearly flinging him off of the broom itself.
Smirking, Y/N zoomed off, giving a fuming Malfoy a salute of two fingers.
Y/N looked over to the Chasers of both sides, they were all in a locked battle for the Quaffle.
WOOOSH!!
A bludger came flying in from the side, Y/N leaned over to the side in an attempt to dodge it, then came up back to the proper position on the broom.
However, the same Slytherin beater who had targeted Harry just moments earlier, had swung his bat towards the Bludger, launching it towards Y/Ns head. Luckily, Y/N dodged it easily, just inches above his head.
The two Slytherin beaters had a new goal in mind other than attacking the opposing players,
They were now primarily focused on attacking Y/N.
Both beaters were on each side of him, swinging the Bludger back and forth aiming towards his head.
After about the eighth dodge, Y/N ducked his head to avoid the incoming Bludger from Tomas Rosewood, which in turn, smashed into Lucian Boles face, sending him falling onto the ground.
Ouch.
Dashing around the pitch in search of his main target, Y/N looked around to see the Chasers from each side in a clash for the Quaffle, slinging it towards the opposing Keepers.
Until his attention turned to the stands, where he spotted a certain brown haired bookworm looking straight towards him with a hopeful but worried look.
Y/N gave a wink towards her and sped towards Malfoy, who was in pursuit of the Snitch.
Unfortunately for him, Y/N was too high up in the air to zoom down to Malfoy's level, there was just no time to lower himself in time to grasp the Snitch.
Until he once again, had a very risky idea, one that could possibly land him in the hospital wing for a few weeks.
But what's life without a few risks?
And without hesitation, Y/N slowly began to stand up on the Firebolt, legs shaking from the immense concentration to stand still.
"What's this?" Lee shouted. "L/N seems to be standing on top of his broom! What could he be thinking?"
Still struggling to stay on top of the broom, which was vastly difficult to say the least, Y/N bent down, and pulled his wand from his bootleg, and turned around to face the opposite end of the Firebolt.
"This is crazy, this is crazy, this is crazy." Y/N repeated on and on in his mind.
"Oh bloody hell."
Y/N took a deep breathe, shut his eyes, and boldly jumped off from the Firebolt, back flipping into the air, falling towards Malfoy.
The crowd with exploding with screams over what Y/N had just done.
Plummeting towards a stunned Draco Malfoy, Y/N held his hand out towards the gleaming ball of gold.
As he fell closer and closer, Y/N grasped his hand around the golden snitch, holding it firmly in his fist as he continued to fall.
With his other hand, Y/N pointed his wand towards the Firebolt, and remembering his reading on summoning spells, he shouted, "Accio!"
The Firebolt whizzed towards him, just in time for Y/N to grasp the broom handle and position himself in the correct posture.
The stadium erupted with immense cheers.
"I DONT BLOODY BELIEVE IT!!" Lee shouted excitedly. "Y/N L/N WINS THE MATCH FOR GRYFFINDOR IN TREMENDOUS FASHION!! IS THAT EVEN ALLOWED IN QUIDDITCH PROFESSOR MCGONAGALL??"
As Y/N made his way down to the pitch, the team sped towards him, each of them pulling him into a tight hug, Wood was sobbing uncontrollably into Y/Ns shoulder, Angelina, Alicia, and Katie all drowned him with kisses, the twins hoisted Y/N up onto their shoulders, shouting, "We've won the cup! We've won the cup!"
Y/N was lowered down to Earth, where an exhilarated Harry was waiting for them, still dressed in his Gryffindor Quidditch Robes, and jumping into the others arms that were overstretched for him.
"We won!" He shouted in delight before flinging his arm around Y/Ns shoulders. "We won!"
Waves of Crimson, Blue, and Yellow poured out of the stands onto the pitch. Y/N, Harry, and the rest of the team were hoisted onto the shoulders of the crowd. In the distance, Hagrid was shouting in delight, "Yeh beat ' em Y/N, yeh beat ' em! Wait till I tell Buckbeak!"
Y/Ns POV
I didn't think I would ever see Percy jumping up and down like an absolute maniac ever, but here we are. Mum was sobbing uncontrollably, ever more than Wood was just minutes ago.
And in the distance, I could see Hermione fighting her way through the crowd. I weaved my way through the crowd to find her, bringing her in for a tight hug and spinning her around.
"You did it!" She shouted in delight. "I'm so proud of you!"
I put her down to the ground after our little moment, and smiled widely.
Our faces were inches apart, making us both blush uncontrollably in the screaming crowd.
I started to lean in closer, my head tilting to the side as I could see she was doing the same thing, and just as we were about to kiss,
"Y/N you bloody lunatic!" Ron shouted as he dragged me forward away from Hermione. "Get up here!"
As I was being dragged by Ron, I could see Hermione glaring in his direction before smiling sheepishly at me.
One of these damn days Ronald, I swear.
Dumbledore stood waiting towards the stands, with an enormous cup in hand.
Leon Grimwood and Aidan Korff pushed me and Harry towards Dumbledore, where we stood on each side of the cup.
And together, we simultaneously grabbed our handles, and lifted the cup into the air for all to see.
In the euphoria of it all, I stuck my wand into the air, and while focusing on my near kiss with Hermione, and the intense feeling of joy from this very moment, I shouted, "Expecto Patronum!"
And the same Eagle that bursted through the tip of my wand a few months ago, came flying out around the cloudless sky.
Eventually, some students joined in on casting their own Patronus's, even Professor Dumbledores own silver Phoenix was singing in happiness.
I made my way back down towards Hermione and Ron as I hugged her and continued to cheer with the others.
The joy I felt while celebrating with my friends can't be compared to anything else.
And this feels pretty damn good.
I continued to cheer with the others, until Fred and George both shouted.
"Party! Gryffindor Common Room! Everyone's welcome!"
This is going to be a fun night.
———————————————————————————
After the match, there was a massive party in the Gryffindor Common Room. And rightfully so, this was the first Quidditch Cup that Gryffindor had won in the last eight years.
Students from all of the houses all came to join in the celebrations, even some of the Slytherins came even though they lost. Mia and Tom were not very happy about the loss, but they weren't being sore losers about it and were having fun.
Hell, even Hermione took a break from schoolwork and joined in the fun, dancing with me in the common room.
This was undoubtedly, one of the happiest moments I've had since I came to Hogwarts.
The party officially stopped when Mum came to Gryffindor Tower at two in the morning to yell at us to go to our dormitories and go to sleep.
———————————————————————————
A month flew by, and our end of year examinations were coming closer and closer.
With the amount of studying me and Hermione were doing, I would hope that we both received good scores.
During our Care of Magical Creatures exam, Hagrid didn't seem very happy, almost like his mind was elsewhere. He didn't really do much for our exam, only handing us a flobberworm and telling us that in order to pass, we had to make sure it stayed alive until the end of the lesson.
Pretty easy you might say.
Except that Neville was the only person who screwed it up. He managed to slip with his flobberworm in hand, and when he fell, the flobberworm popped on the floor.
It wasn't a very pleasant smell.
"Beaky's getting a little depressed." Hagrid said as the four of us went to talk to him. "Bin cooped up too long. But still....we'll know day after tomorrow....one way or the other."
Harry's POV
Shortly after Hagrids class, we had received some very unsettling news. Hagrid had lost the appeal and Buckbeak was to be executed at sunset.
"I can't believe they are going to kill Buckbeak." Hermione said. "It's just too terrible."
"And it just got worse." I sighed as I saw three halfwitted Slytherins watching the execution.
"What did I tell you." Malfoy said. "Father says I can keep the Hippogriffs head, maybe I can donate it to the Gryffindor Common room, this is going to be rich!"
He turned around and spotted us coming down. "Oh, look who's here! You come to see the show?"
Malfoy had been very unpleasant ever since Y/N had caught the snitch in front of him a month ago, and right now he was pissing all of us off, Y/N especially.
But before Y/N could confront him, Hermione had come down, took her wand, and yelled,
"You! You, foul, loathsome, evil little cockroach!"
She raised her hand behind her head and pointed at Malfoy's neck, who had looked like he had just seen a ghost. Crabbe and Goyle were in complete shock, I don't think they expected Hermione to go this far.
"Hermione!" Ron yelled. "Don't do it! He's not worth it!"
"Mione." Y/N said as he took her hand. "For once, Ron is right, this isn't worth it."
"Hey!"
She looked at him, nodded her head, and began to turn around. Malfoy looked relieved, as he thought he was in the clear.
But what Hermione did next, made me gain a lot more respect for her.
Because Hermione turned around and punched him hard in the face. Me and Ron were shocked, but Y/N had a devilish smirk on his face, almost like he knew this would happen.
"Malfoy, are you okay?" Crabbe said to him. "Let's go, quickly!"
"Not a word about this to anyone." Malfoy said as he turned to us. "My father will hear about this!"
Wow, haven't heard that one before.
Malfoy cringed as he ran away while Hermione turned to look at us. "That felt good." She exclaimed.
"You are absolutely brilliant, Hermione." Y/N said as she blushed and smiled.
Y/Ns POV
"Look at him." Hagrid said as he looked at Buckbeak. "Loves the smell of the trees when the wind blows through them."
"Why don't we just set him free?" Harry asked.
"Dumbledore could get into trouble." Y/N said. "Fudge will know it was us who released him."
"He's coming down, Dumbledore." Hagrid sobbed. "Says he wants to be with me when they....when it happens. Great man, Dumbledore. A great man."
"We'll stay with you too, Hagrid." Hermione said.
"You'll do no such thing." He hollered. "Think I want you seeing something like that? No, you drink your tea and be off."
"Oh, before you go Ron." Hagrid said as he pulled up a familiar looking rat.
"Scabbers!" He exclaimed. "You're alive!"
Guess Gracie and Crookshanks didn't murder him.
"Looks like you owe some apologies." I said to Ron.
"Right, I'll apologize to Crookshanks and-"
"We meant us." Hermione said sternly with her arms crossed."
Before Ron could say anything else, a rock was thrown at Hagrids window, who bellowed, "Blimey! What was that?"
Another rock flew in and hit Harry on the head. "Ow!" He exclaimed.
I looked outside the window to see if I could find the culprit, and was very surprised at what I saw.
"What the? Is that..."
"Very interesting." The voice of Cornelius Fudge interrupted my thoughts.
"No, Minister. Over this way." Dumbledore said.
"Yeh gotta go." Hagrid said. "They mustn' find ya here....Go now..."
We all got ready to leave as we got our things together and Harry put the clock over us. "I'll let yeh out the back way."
While exiting, Buckbeak knew what was happening and turned his head to us.
"It's okay, Beaky." Hagrid said to Buckbeak. "It's okay." He turned back to us. "Go on, Get goin."
"Hagrid, we can't—"
"We'll tell them what really happened—"
"They just can't kill him—"
"Lucius Malfoy is a giant bit—"
"Go!" He shouted. "It's bad enough when you log in trouble an' all!"
We walked away as Hagrid went away to go greet the newcomers.
"Please, let's hurry." Hermione said. "I can't stand it, I can't bear it."
"I agree." I said while taking her hand.
"What the?" Harry asked.
"What's wrong?"
"I swear I just saw someone in there." He said.
But Ron suddenly stopped as we were almost away. "Oh, please, Ron." Hermione begged.
"It's Scabbers!" Ron said. "He won't stay put!"
Ron continued to force Scabbers into his pocket, but he kept rustling through the cloak.
"Scabbers, it's me." Ron snapped. "You bloody idiot, it's Ron!"
"They're gonna do it!" I said. "Ron, control your rat!"
"Okay, Scabbers, stay put!"
We then heard the crash of an axe as birds flew around us. Buckbeak was dead. Hermiones eyes filled with tears as she buried her head in my chest and hugged me tightly while I wrapped my arms around her.
"They did it!" She cried. "I don't believe it—they did it!"
I can't believe Lucius Malfoy ended up convincing the committee to do it.
And of course the bastard himself, Cornelius Fudge, let him do it.
Me or Hermione would make a better Minister than that idiot, and we are both fourteen.
Ron and Harry put their hands onto my shoulders as I continued to embrace Hermione in a hug. She continued to cry into my chest and I wished I could do something to stop it.
"How—could—they." Hermione sniffled. "How could they?"
"I don't know Mione." I said as I rubbed her back. "I don't know."
"Scabbers, stay still!" Ron barked. The rat was moving in his hands as Ron tried to stop him. "What's the matter with you? Stay still—Ouch! He bit me!"
"Ron, be quiet!" Hermione growled. "Fudge'll be out here in a minute—"
"He won't-stay-put-"
"What the hells the matter with him?" I asked.
Suddenly, Crookshanks and Gracie came out of nowhere and tried to grab Scabbers. The rat managed to slip out of Ron's hands and he followed it out to the grass.
"Ron!" I said.
"Gotcha!" Ron said as he grabbed Scabbers. "Get off, you stinking cats!"
"Don't touch my cat, Ron." I hissed.
"Uh, guys?" Hermione said looking in the other direction.
"Yes, Mione?"
"There may, or may not be a massive black dog staring at us right now."
She was right.
There was a giant black dog, staring at us furiously. The dog ran towards Ron and grabbed him with his teeth and by the leg, dragging him away.
I ran up to the dog and grabbed Ron's arm in an attempt to get him away from the dogs grasp.
And suddenly, I was rammed in the head by a massive bird, which looked like a golden eagle.
The eagle took off flying after the dog as it pulled Ron towards the willow. As the dog pulled him, the Willow whipped backwards and hit me in the face, sending me flying backwards.
"Y/N!" Hermione yelled as she ran up to me. I had a bleeding gash on my forehead. I noticed that she also got hit. The Willow had cut into her pink jumper, causing her shoulder to bleed.
"Harry, we have to go get help." She said as she turned to me. "Are you okay?"
"I'll be fine, Mione." I said. "I've been through worse."
She smiled a little as she took my hand and held it tightly.
She is really pretty.....
"We haven't got much time!" Harry shouted.
And then, the cats came back staring at us.
"They must be friends with the dog." I said. "Come on, and keep your wands at the ready."
"Lumos." We said as we entered the same tunnel the dog took Ron into.
"This way." Harry directed us.
"What is this place." I asked.
"I don't know....it's marked on the Marauders Map, but Fred and George said no ones ever gotten into it...it goes off the edge of a map, but it looked like it was heading for Hogsmeade..." Harry said as Gracie and Crookshanks led us into a very strange room. Paper was all over the walls and furniture was smashed everywhere.
"Guys." Hermione said. "I think we're in the Shrieking Shack."
"Well, we did end up getting closer like you wanted." I told her. "Just never thought we'd actually be inside."
As the cats walked into another room, we heard whimpering coming from the same room, Ron was on a four poster bed.
"Ron, are you okay?" Harry asked.
"Where's the dog?" I followed up.
"It's not a dog." Ron whimpered. "Harry, it's a trap."
"What?" Harry asked.
Ron pointed behind us as we turned around.
And he was right, because right in front of us, was none other than,
Sirius Black.
"Expelliarmus!" Black shouted as he pointed his wand at us. Our wands flung out of our hands and landed into his. He walked closer as he dropped the wands onto the ground.
"I thought you'd come and help your friend." He growled. "Your father would have done the same thing for me. Brave of you not to run for a teacher. I'm grateful. It will make things much easier."
"If you want to kill Harry." Ron stood up. "Then you'll have to kill us too!"
"Lie down." Black said. "You'll damage that leg even more."
"Did you hear me!" Ron shouted. "You'll have to kill all four of us!"
"There will only be one murder tonight." Black grinned wickedly.
"There's four of us, and one of you." I snarled angrily.
Suddenly, the same eagle from before flew into the Shack. It landed on the ground and transformed into a blonde man who looked oddly familiar.
"Well, I like those odds." The man said to us as he embraced Sirius.
"Steven, we finally got him!" Sirius exclaimed.
Steven?
As the man turned to face us, his face fell upon me as it turned to a look of shock.
"Y/N." He whispered.
Now I realized who this person was, he was the same man I saw in the mirror in first year, the same man I saw in my vision with my Mother, the same man I believed to have been dead for all these years.
It couldn't be true, yet he was standing before me, and teaming up with a murderer who was trying to kill my friend.
This was my Father, and he was alive.
"Dad?" I asked.
