Chapter 24 - Follow The Spiders

Harry's POV

It's been a month since Hermione became petrified. The teachers had come together to make a new set of rules ever since the recent attacks in order to keep us safe.

Me and Ron had missed the other two members of our quartet greatly. Hermione was obviously petrified. But Y/N was a different case.

Over the past month, Y/N has refused to say one word to anyone. He now walked to class on his own, and sat away from everyone else. He never comes down to the Great Hall to eat anymore so Ron and I have to give him food in our dorm.

He even stopped insulting Lockhart and throwing sarcastic remarks at him. Which was really disappointing.

I don't even think he sleeps anymore, he always comes to class with heavy bags under his eyes and he always falls asleep in class. Which greatly worried us as well as the Professors.

We had tried talking to him on several occasions, but he still refuses to speak to anybody. Professor McGonagall had tried to comfort him but he shuts her out as well.

Nobody knew how to make him feel better because he keeps shutting everyone out. We all missed Hermione immensely, but it seems to have taken a toll on Y/N more than it has the rest of us.

I hope he finds peace soon, because we're really starting to worry about him.

Y/Ns POV

Ever since Hermione had turned up petrified, I had refused to speak to anyone. I don't eat with any of my friends and I don't get much sleep anymore.

I really missed her, more than I ever thought I could.

It was petty on my part to not speak to anyone, but I needed some space and time to think.

I was currently walking from Transfiguration to go the hospital wing and visit Hermione. It's something I've done every day for the last month. Madam Pomfrey would always let me in reluctantly, but she would still let me come in nonetheless.

Every day, I would talk about what we did in our classes, Lockhart's bullshit, and just anything in general. Sometimes I would do my work right next to her.

I know there was no use in talking to her because she couldn't hear me, but it always made me feel a little bit better than I have been.

I really needed her back.

As I was leaving the hospital wing, I managed to run into a familiar face.

"Hello Y/N!" Pansy said happily

"Hey Parkinson." I replied.

"Are you okay?" She asked in a concerned tone. "Haven't heard much from you in a while."

"I'm fine." I replied.

She didn't seem to be entirely convinced by my answer.

"You know you can tell me what's bothering you Y/N. I won't judge." She said.

"Okay." I sighed. "Hermione was petrified last month and it's been really hard for me."

"Oh right." She said. "Draco's been saying some rude remarks about her. Something about her being in her rightful place.

Looks like me and Malfoy are going to have another talk after this.

"I fancy Hermione also." I said. "Which doesn't help at all."

I wasn't afraid to admit this. I feel like I can trust her.

"Oh, I'm really sorry Y/N." She said while engulfing me in a hug.

"I feel like she's going to hate me when she wakes up." I said.

"Why would she hate you?" Pansy asked.

"I promised I would protect her. And I failed on that promise." I replied.

"Listen." She said. "You couldn't have known that this was going to happen. This is not your fault in the slightest. If Hermione cares about you just as much as you care about her, you are going to be ok."

"Thank you Pansy." I said with a smile, it's the first time I've really smiled in a long time.

"No problem." She replied. "I'm always here if you need to talk."

"I appreciate it." I replied.

We both went our separate ways as I went back to Gryffindor Tower and got some sleep.

The next day, I woke up and actually went down to the Great Hall and sat down with my friends to eat.

"It's nice to see you back from the dorms Y/N!" Seamus said as I sat down.

"We missed you mate!" Ron said.

"It's good to be back guys!" I replied.

The rest of the day was pretty great, I started talking again, to the delight of my friends.

Unfortunately at our potions lesson, somebody had to ruin it for me.

"The heir of Slytherin strikes again!" Draco Malfoy was strutting around as if he owned the school.

"I'm glad they did, another Mudblood in their rightful place, especially that b*tch Granger. All of my wishes are coming true."

Oh hell no

"Say. That. Again." I stood up angrily.

"He finally speaks! Trying to defend your mudblood b*tch L/N? it's only a matter of time before she's dea-"

WHAM

I slammed my fist into Malfoy's face.

He hit the ground and clenched his face in pain.

"You broke my jaw!" He exclaimed. "My father will hear about this!"

"Run to daddy you little b*tch." I said. "It's what you are best at."

Snape got out of his chair and walked over furiously towards us.

"That is 60 points from Gryffindor and a detention with me L/N. Don't make it more." Snape spat.

"Worth it." I said leaning down to Malfoy.

"You got what you fucking deserved."

I then grabbed my things and walked out of the room, stunning everyone.

Harry's POV

Me and Ron were stunned, we had only seen Y/N punch someone if he was pissed off. Malfoy must have struck a nerve. Draco actually looked really scared for a change.

When we entered the dorm, we find him sitting on his bed with Gracie right next to him.

"Y/N?" Ron asked.

"Oh hey guys." He said. "Sorry for causing a scene in potions."

"Are you kidding? That was bloody brilliant." Ron said.

"You should have seen the look on Snape's face when you walked out." I said. "He clearly was not expecting that."

"Harry and I were going to talk to Hagrid tonight. We're going to see if he knew anything and if he actually let out the monster. Do you want to come with us?" Ron asked.

"Sure." He said. "But I'm still doubting he's the heir. I just can't see it."

"I think its time to get my dads cloak." I said to them.

We were currently on our way to Hagrid's Hit underneath the invisibility cloak. Y/N and Ron were having a slight argument on the way there.

"Ron you piece of s*it stop stepping on my damn foot." Y/N said angrily.

"I can't help it mate." Ron replied.

"You can help it by looking where you are going." Y/N said.

"Would you two shut up." I said. "We're here."

As we arrived at Hagrids hut, I knocked on the door three times and waited for him to open up.

"Who's there?" Hagrid grunted while carrying a crossbow. "Oh hello!"

"Hagrid, why are you carrying that?" I asked.

"Oh, nothing. I-I was expecting, ah it dosent matter, come on in! I made a pot o' tea!"

"Hagrid, are you alright?" Ron asked.

"I'm fine! I'm alright."

"Did you hear about Hermione?" Y/N asked sadly.

"Oh yeah, I heard about that." Hagrid said. "I'm sorry Y/N. I knew how close you were to 'er."

"We have to ask you something." I asked quickly. "Do you know who's opened the Chamber of Secrets."

"What you have to understand about that is...." Hagrid said before being cut off by a knocking at the door. "Quick, you three, under the cloak now! Don't say a word and be quiet."

The three of did what he said and got under the cloak as Hagrid opened the door to reveal Professor Dumbledore accompanied by another gentleman and to all of our surprise, Y/Ns uncle. "Oh, Professor Dumbledore, sir, Thomas."

"Hello there, Hagrid." Thomas acknowledged.

"Good evening, Hagrid." Dumbledore said. "I wonder, could we....?"

"Oh, of course!" Hagrid said politely as he let them in. "Come in, come in!"

When the other gentleman walked in, both Y/N and Ron's eyes widened.

"Son of a b*tch it's Cornelius Fudge." Y/N said. "The Minister of Magic."

"He's dad boss!" Ron exclaimed.

"What's my uncle doing here?" Y/N asked.

"Bad business, Hagrid. Very bad business." Fudge said. "Had to comeโ€”-three attacks on Muggle-horns. Things have gone far enough. The Ministry's got to act."

"Oh, but I would neverโ€”-you know I never, Professor!"

"I want it understood, Cornelius, the Hagrid had my full confidence." Dumbledore said.

"And he has mine as well." Thomas said angrily.

He must not like Fudge that much.

"Albus, Thomas look." Fudge retorted. "Hagrid's record is against him. We've got to take him in."

"You can't be serious!" Thomas exclaimed.

"Not Azkaban Prison!" Hagrid said.

"I'm afraid we have no choice, Hagrid."

"You really don't have to Corneliusโ€”" Thomas said before being interrupted.

"Already here Fudge? Good." Lucius Malfoy said, coming from nowhere. Thomas looked like he was ready to punch him and Y/N looked liked he wanted to do the same thing.

"What're you doin' here!" Hagrid bellowed. "Get outta my house!"

"Believe me, I take absolutely no pleasure being inside yourโ€”-you call this a house?"

"Who the hell asked you to come here?" Thomas scowled.

"I was simply called at the school, and was told that the headmaster was here." Lucius said.

"Well?" Dumbledore asked in amusement. "What exactly do you want with me?"

"The other governors and I have decided it's time for you step aside. This is an order of suspension. You'll find all twelve signatures on it. I'm afraid we feel you've rather lost your touch. Well, what, with all these attacks, there'll be no Muggle-borns left at Hogwarts. I can only imagine what an awful loss that would be to the school."

"Oh shove it Malfoy." Thomas scowled. "Dumbledores doing everything he can with the situation he's currently in."

"Thomas, how convenient you are here." Lucius sneered. "Your nephew needs to learn how to control his temper. He started multiple fights with my son for merely stating his opinion."

"Well if your son is as much of a bastard as you are, he probably deserved it." Thomas retaliated.

Lucius lunged at Thomas in anger, before he could grab him, Fudge separated the two.

"It seems I've struck a nerve Lucius." Thomas smirked. "You said my nephew needs his temper controlled? A bit hypocritical don't you think?"

"Yeh can't take Professor Dumbledore away!" Hagrid argued. "Take him away, an' the Muggle-horns won't stand a chance! You mark my words, there'll be killing next!"

Lucius raised his eyes. "You think so?"

"Calm yourself Hagrid." Dumbledore said calmly

A/N: And may I reiterate, CALMLY

"If the governors desire my removal, I will of course, step aside. However, you will find that help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it."

"Admirable sentiments." Lucius sneered. "Shall we?Fudge!"

"Come, Hagrid!" Fudge said.

"Ahem! If, uh if anyone was looking for some stuff, then all they'd have to do is would be to follow the spiders." Hagrid said loudly.

What?

Thomas and Dumbledore seemed to have known what he meant. Yup that would lead them right! Oh and someone'll need to feed Fang while I'm away."

Fang growled at Fudge, who looked very scared.

Everyone then left the hut.

Y/Ns POV

For some reason, when everyone had left the hut, I heard the voice of my Uncle in my head.

"Follow the spiders Y/N. Follow the spiders."

How did that happen?

"What does he mean by follow the spiders?" I asked.

"I don't know." Harry said. "I guess we have to follow them and hopefully get some answers."

"Yeah, and then we can find the real Heir." I said.

Because I sure as hell am going to kick their ass.

"Why did it have to be spiders." Ron whimpered. "Why couldn't it just be 'follow the butterflies?"

"Ron don't be a b*tch." I said.

"You heard what Hagrid said!" Harry told us as we walked through the forest. "We have to follow the spiders."

"Harry I don't like this." Ron whimpered. "I don't like this at all!"

"Quiet!" I said.

"Come on!" Harry said as we continued to trek through the dark and eerie forest.

Lots of spiders were crawling until they stopped right near a cave.

"Who is it?" A raspy voice came from inside the cave, the voice revealed itself to be a massive spider. Ron stood in fear at the sight of the giant creature.

"Don't panic." Harry warned.

"Hagrid is that you?"

"We're friends of Hagrid." Harry said. "And you....you're Aragog, aren't you?"

"Yes." Aragog said. "Hagrid has never sent men into our hollow."

"But Hagrid is in trouble!" I said. "Up at the school, there have been some attacks. They said that it's Hagrid. They think that he opened up the Chamber of Secrets, like before."

"That is a lie!" Aragog yelled. "Hagrid never opened the Chamber of Secrets."

"Then your not the monster." Harry deduced.

"No, the monster was born in the castle. I came to Hagrid from a distant land, in the pocket of a traveler."

"But if you're not the monster, then-" I said. "Then what killed that girl fifty years ago?"

"We do not speak of it!" Aragog yelled. "It is an ancient creature we spiders fear above all others!"

"Have you seen it at least?" I asked.

"I never saw any part of the castle but the box Hagrid kept me. The girl was discovered in a bathroom. When I was accused, Hagrid brought me here."

The spiders started to corner us.

A/N: Imagine Y/N is in between Harry and Ron

"Thank you." Harry said in fear. "I guess...we'll just go now?"

"Go? I think not. My sons and daughters do not harm Hagrid on my command. But I cannot deny them fresh meat when it wanders out midst. Good-bye, friends of Hagrid."

I hate spiders.

"Can we panic now?" Ron yelled as our backs were against each other. "Anyone know any spells?"

"Probably something incredibly stupid but I have something." I yelled.

"Just do it!" Harry and Ron yelled.

"INCENDIO!" I yelled, causing a jet of flames to burst out of my wand. Incinerating a fair few, although it wasn't quite enough.

"Where's Hermione when you need her?" Ron cried as the spiders inched closer and closer.

Then something strange happened.

A car engine was heard in the distance.

The Weasleys Ford Anglia dove right into Aragogs nest, pushing some of the spiders out of the way, somehow the doors had opened by themselves. "Drive!" I yelled as Ron got into the drivers side, Harry into the passenger side, and me in the backseat.

I kept shooting spell after spell at the spiders, trying to get them to go away.

A spider had managed to climb into the car, which scared the hell out of Ron. I pointed my wand towards it and yelled "BOMBARDA!" The spider exploded into lots of different pieces.

"Thanks for that." Ron said.

"No problem." I replied. "Let's just get the hell out of here!"

Ron put the car into gear but nothing happened. The gear must be jammed!

"Come on, pull!" Harry yelled.

"I'm trying!"

"Try harder!" I yelled.

Ron drove right in front of the spiders plowing them to the side until the car finally took flight. We flew above the trees and landed near Hagrids hut. We all fell out of the car as Ron said.

"Follow the spiders. Follow the spiders! If Hagrid ever gets out of Azkaban, I'll kill him. I mean what was the point of sending us out there? What have we found out?

"We found out one thing." I said. "Hagrid was innocent." He never opened the Chamber of Secrets."

The next day before breakfast, I was in the library examining the shelves for any book on magical creatures that I could find. I eventually found one that looked like it could have information that I could be looking for. I took it to a quiet corner and read it to myself.

What I did notice about this book, was that a page was missing. Madam Pince clearly did not check this book yet.

Eventually, it was time to go to lessons, so I quickly ran off to the Great Hall.
