Taehyung's POV
"Focus Taehyung. You missed the beat." Our dance mentor sternly corrected me yet again.
"Yes." I tried maintaining the rhythm of my body movements with the song but my mind clouded with a foreign thought did not let me hear the beats for the nth time.
"What's wrong? You are not yourself today." He sighed in defeat and approached me with heavy steps.
"Never mind, let's take a break then we'll start again, okay?" Placing his hands on my shoulder he tried to cheer me before leaving the practice room.
As soon as he stepped out of the room all the members collapsed on the floor groaning in pain and exhaustion.
I stood in front of the mirror placing my palm over it as I stared at my own reflection in my eyes. Still only one scene roamed through my mind making me wonder why it was so bothersome to the point of me losing my focus.
After whatever happened in the lift, why did I avoid Jimin all the way till we reached the Bighit building? I ran my hand through my hair, in frustration and almost hit it on the mirror but stopped as someone's hand came over my shoulder with a light squeeze. "Is something bothering you?"
Namjoon hyung. I turned to him.
"If there's something troubling you, I'm here for you. We are here for you." He patted my back before giving me a reassuring smile.
"I know." Slightly smiling I embraced him in a tight hug. Hugging him is the best way to get yourself relaxed.
"Hyung, can I go back early?" I pleaded, resting my chin on his shoulder.
"Why?" Immediately he broke the hug and scoured my face for an answer but met with none. A heavy sigh escaped my lips as I looked at the floor for not having any reasonable excuse to make. Somehow he understood the perplexity of my mental state.
"Okay, I'll talk to others. But tomorrow you have to make it up for today." He caressed my hair and I hugged him before walking towards the door.
I saw Jimin approaching me, but before he could I grabbed the door handle and left the room. It was better for both of us to not see each other yet because I wanted to clear this strange feeling inside me first.
Vanya's POV
"Ah, it's time to go." I noticed the time on my phone and packed my stuff before leaving the building after finishing my shift only when my phone rang. I took out the phone from my purse.
Unknown Number
"Huh?!" A gasp escaped my lips as soon as I saw an unknown number. I just met him yesterday, what could there be left for him to threaten me with.
Still not being confident about the number's owner I bit my lower lip while swiping the green icon on the screen.
"Hello?"
"Your shift is over, right?"
"Yea ─" I halted my words and steps as soon as my brain recognized the owner of that voice. Shifted the phone from my ear to the front and glared at its screen.
This Jerk.
Again, I placed the cell near my ear,
"HEY, YOU!! HOW CAN YOU GET MY NUMBER WITHOUT ASKING ME?!"
"Ah, really. I think my hearing senses are gone." Sarcastically he uttered those words making me more annoyed, which was one of his specialties as far as I know.
"Mr.Kim.Taehyung?" In anger I gritted my teeth.
"What?" He casually spoke.
"Yeah! What? What you want -" I got cut off when he sneezed from the other side.
"See, you are yelling at a sick person." In a gloomy tone he said.
"Jeez, it's just a cold. Have medicine if you're sick." Being all smug I responded to his accusation but never have I ever thought these words would only cause me more trouble.
"Okay then. Bring me some medicine along the way." He bluntly ordered me and hung up the call.
"Wh-, Hey!" Dumbstruck with his attitude I looked at the black screen of my phone.
"What am I, his PA?" I went to the parking lot and seated myself in my car before driving it off.
********
"Here," Taking my card from the cashier, I thanked her and came out of the chemist shop.
While looking at the polythene of his medicines in my hand I wondered why I was even doing this.
"Would you like to buy flowers?" An elderly voice called out to me from behind. I looked over to find an old woman with wrinkled hands holding a bunch of flowers.
"No. I don't want them." Excusing myself I started walking towards my car but she grabbed my jacket stopping me from going further. Even If I tried I could not move an inch.
What's wrong with her strength?
She came in front of me and extended a rose towards me which I refused to take.
"Sorry but I don't need them." Politely I rejected but she looked at me with her amused eyes.
"Flowers symbolise a new beginning. You can have it as you have also stepped into a new life." She said confidently, earning a confused look from me.
No. My life is still the same.
"You have got the wrong person, granny. In this life I ain't having nothing new at least." Feeling a bit annoyed by her assumptions I replied toning down my humble speech.
"Oh my!" She exclaimed, holding the piece of fabric near her heart. "Buying only one wouldn't harm you, right?" The old lady insisted, her eyes never leaving mine and I puzzled between hurrying towards my car or buying roses from her.
"Okay I will take one." Giving in to her request I agreed to buy it. She gave me a rose with a slight smile tugging on her lips which creeped me out but all I could notice was her glistening eyes as she held my hand.
"I hope this rose will make you see the new beginning of your life." In a low voice she whispered yet it reached my ears too loud and clear to go unheard.
Thinking she might be just playing with my mind I went to my car and tossed the flower and medicine bag in the passenger seat while asking for the price. But there was no one standing once I turned back.
She disappeared from the streets.
I asked around and even looked inside the chemist shop but she was nowhere.
After all that philosophical talk, where did she go without taking the money?
"Urgh! I knew these boys were bad luck. Whenever they are included some shit happens to me." Sitting in the driver seat I stepped on the gas and drove off.
Bing.
The lift door opened. I went straight towards his compartment and rang the doorbell. After a few minutes that tested my last bit of patience I heard a loud crash from inside.
Did he die?
The only thought that crossed my mind. Soon, the door unlocked and opened to reveal the one and only annoying-ass Kim Taehyung.
Disbelief all over my face at the sight of his condition. His hair ──messed up, face ──pale, eyes ──red, lips ──dry, body ──lifeless.
It was supposed to be a cold only but he looked like a zombie, the only difference would be I find zombies more attractive.
I extended the medicine packet towards him. "No need to say thank you-" Before I could finish, his body fell on me as his head rested on my shoulder.
"Who do you think you are falling over, Mr. Taehyung?" He did not give me any answer.
"Hey!" I shook his shoulders slightly but he didn't budge. His body temperature was high. I could feel the heat penetrating from his clothes as if the body was on fire.
Fearing, I grabbed his shoulders tightly and shook him hard. "Hey! Are you dead for real?"
"Not yet," He murmured and adjusted his head on my shoulder so that his face was near mine.
"But soon if you keep rocking me back and forth like this." He said as I rolled my eyes but the red blush kept creeping on my cheeks because of his face being too close, I could feel his warm breath over my neck.
"T..Then why are you leaning on me." I cleared my throat. "Stand upright." I said looking at everything around me, but him.
"I don't have strength." He said and I cursed at him, internally. While supporting, I dragged him inside the compartment and saw a broken vase lying on the floor.
He sat on the couch while I put medicine and flower on the table in front. He quirked a brow at me mouthing ── 'so sweet' and I understood what he meant, "Not for you." I scoffed.
I picked up the medicine and handed it to him.
"You deserve this only."
He leaned back on the couch grabbing the bag from my hand while making an annoyed expression, "Yeah yeah."
"There are medicines to reduce the fever, you should take them too." I suggested as my attention went towards the kitchen only then one thought struck my mind.
"Have you eaten?" I asked and he just shook his head.
"Then how will you take them?" I said pointing towards the medicines.
"With water." He replied, rummaging through the polythene.
"Oh my god! I didn't know, smart-ass." I commented and he just gave me a tired 'I don't know what you are saying' look.
"Get up and rest in your room, I will make something for you." Saying this I turned as he grabbed my hand making me turn again.
"Help me." He said, waving his arms towards me.
"You want me gone?" My eyes sharpen at his childish behaviour as he retrieved his hands back. Somehow he managed himself back to his room as I headed towards the kitchen counter.
With a bowl of soup, his medicine and water in a tray, I returned to his room and placed it on the side table as I gave the bowl to him.
"Thank you." With a soft smile he looked at me and I tried to suppress a smirk forming on my lips.
Taking a bite he grimaced as an unsavoury taste filled his mouth.
"It's bland." He whined.
"It's not. It's because you have a cold so your taste buds are not functioning properly." I defended myself, completely aware of my deed.
"Well it's not like it's uncooked, just eat and don't complain." Commanding, I stomped out of his room but could hear him grumble after another bite.
After picking up the pieces of the vase and putting it in the dustbin, I washed the dishes and went back to his room to check on him one last time. He looked so innocent sleeping like a baby. Right now, seeing him like this no one could imagine him as the most irritating fellow.
His complexion was looking better than before. His hands lying on his stomach moved slightly as I noticed that he was shivering so I put a blanket over him to the shoulders. The feeling of comfort in the warmth of the blanket formed a smile on his lips. Closing the distance I leaned a bit forward, "Take care." I whispered and leaned back to straighten myself before turning back to leave but stopped when I felt a hand embracing my wrist gently. I gazed down at his face.
"Don't go." He murmured with his eyes closed.
********
"Did you like the surprise babe?" A female's honeyed voice echoed from the phone speaker as the receiver of the call stared at the bouquet of roses placed beside his phone over his desk.
"Yeah, I loved it." Said the man while leaning backwards on his chair and indicated to the person standing in front of his desk to leave the cabin.
"Dad is calling, I have to go." She said,
"I can't wait to meet you." Before hanging up the call she ended her sentence with a sweet kiss.
"I, too, can't wait." His hand caressed the bouquet resting on the desk and a thorn coming out of it pricked his finger.
His face grimaced as he picked up the bouquet before throwing it with pure rage and it slammed on the closed door. The red roses fell on the ground scattered and crushed in agony.
