Forty-six: Blood Bath
~~ JUNGKOOK'S POV ~~
I fight back the stinging tears forming in my eyes, refusing to let them fall. I desperately try to drown out the voice of Jangmi, praying with all of my heart that Jimin will take good care of her.
Everything will be fine, I remind myself, my confidence slightly boosting as I approach the fuming Muhyeok who is combating against Hoseok. Yes, he's strong, but not stronger than us. I have nothing to fear-
-- but why does my heart refuse to agree...?
I dash forward, bolting into Muhyeok, my chest slamming into his side. He topples over with a yelp of surprise, giving Hoseok some time to catch his breath. He doesn't take long to retort, quickly positioning himself upright and glaring at the both of us with pure hatred.
"Why are you doing this?" I suddenly blurt, driven to discover his intentions behind the sudden attack.
"You wouldn't understand," he spits, twisting the blade in his hands, "You never understand anything. You've always been used to having everyone respect you, bow to you, fear you. I was never given that privilege. You didn't have to work your way to the top. I won't waste ANY more blood on the behalf of you and your bastard friend."
Muhyeok's eyes begin to gleam with a strange glow; something eerie and unsettling.
"We don't have to do this anymore," Hoseok says breathlessly, sending the message that Muhyeok is stronger than I anticipated...
"Orders are orders," he snarls viciously before snapping his fingers. A wicked smirk overtakes his expression, causing my stomach to feel sick with worry.
A dozen men or so dressed in black emerge from the trees, slowly inching towards us like stalking predators. Hoseok slides up beside me until our bodies are aligned side by side.
"Kill him," Muhyeok points straight towards Hoseok, "Leave him to me."
Hoseok springs into action before his opponents can, dashing beside the first and slicing his dagger across his stomach before twisting his arm and stabbing him directly in the heart. When the next man charges at him, he slides underneath his legs, cutting the man's ankle and earning a howl of agony. Hoseok begins sprinting down a path, guiding the men elsewhere.
"Jungkook, go! I'll be fine here!" he shouts through scattered breaths.
Before I have time to respond, I feel a cold fist slam into my back, sending a strange sensation up my spinal cord. I grit my teeth in pain, spinning around and facing my opponent.
"You know," Muhyeok says, staring darkly into my eyes, "We are very similar."
"How so?" I scoff, disgusting by such a statement.
"We both act strong and tough on the outside..." he says dramatically, "But we really aren't that strong, are we? We can never be like August D... can we? We always have to try and live up to that."
I briskly step up in front of him, curling my fist and knocking it clean across his face. Crimson blood begins to ooze from his nose, causing his eyes to ignite with even more anger.
"We have nothing in common," I say with such force that my voice resembles snapping icicles, "We both may have committed countless sins-- we both have killed countless people. The difference is; people change. I have repented. I'm not going to be the same murderous man I was before. It's never to late to change. I'm going to be a good example for my child, a father they can look up too."
"I can assure you," Muhyeok says in a low whisper, "You won't be leaving here alive."
"I promised the heavens one small thing; you'll be the last person I kill. And I'll make sure it hurts like hell," and with that, I pull out my dagger, our weapons clashing as we both unleash our full abilities.
Muhyeok slices my arm with his knife, a low groan of pain escaping my lips. I focus on Jangmi and the child in her womb. I'm doing this for them. To keep them safe.
"I wonder what Jangmi will do when your gone... I could sell her off? I'm sure someone would pay a handsome price for her pretty face," Muhyeok says slowly, his lips curving into a sly smile, "Don't you think?"
I quickly retaliate, pushing him back with so much force that several cracks are audible from his bones. I punch, thrash, slice, and kick, using all of my energy and skill. Pure hatred ignites in my heart, my only wish to rid of him. I knock the weapon out of his hands, pinning him beneath my grasp. I pound my fist into his face countless times, earning screams and wails from deep within his chest. My knuckles drip with blood, salty tears streaming down my face.
"Don't you dare touch her!" I scream, all the control in my body vanishing, "You disgusting piece of filth!"
Muhyeok kicks his boot upwards, my stomach aching with pain after the sudden attack. I clutch my abdomen, groaning in pain once again. Muhyeok seizes the opportunity and kicks my face with his thick boot, earning a yelp as my jaw begins to tense. He glares down at me with a deathly and horrifying expression, his face utterly deformed and covered in blood. I even managed to knock out his front teeth...
His body is quivering in pain, his eyes are red and resemble a burning furnace. My entire body throbs with a horribly unbearable pain... I desperately gasp for breath, my lungs craving it more than anything.
He roughly grabs onto my neck, taking advantage of my weak stage and squeezing his veiny hand around my skin. I claw at his arms, panic forming in my stomach as I begin to realize my energy has been spent. He begins tightening his grip even more, minimizing my consumption of air.
My hand shakily reaches for my pocket, drawing out a small delicate knife. I slowly bring my hand upwards, jabbing it through his arm in a hasty manner before he can suffocate me. He immediately lets go, shrieking in pain and giving me the chance to gasp for even a sliver of breath.
I claw at the ground, my eyes watering with salty liquids. I hope Hoseok is alright. Where could he be? He's nowhere around here...
"Master!!" a cloaked man suddenly shouts, accompanied by two more men. They dash towards Muhyeok, helping him to his feet, "The other got away! He slaughtered the rest--"
"Kill him!" Muhyeok shrieks in a high-pitched tone, and my heart sinks when the three men slowly approach.
I warily stand to my feet, pulling out my little dagger. I grunt in pain and someone cuts me in the back, but I refuse to let it faze me. Instead, I spin in all direction like a madman, cutting them all up one by one. After finishing off two, I groggily step towards the last. I barely have any breath left. My vision is blurred. My entire body throbs.
Regardless, I charge towards the man with a furious cry, penetrating my weapon straight through his stomach. He falls forward in shock, leaning against my chest before I harshly toss him to the ground.
My breath becomes ragged and uneven, my legs become light and weak. I gaze around in search of my very last opponent...
My eyes light up...
Where did he go?!
~~ JIMIN'S POV ~~
"Jangmi, we just have to make it to Yoongi's house... Then I will go back and get Jungkook. Alright?"
She slowly nods, our arms linked as we venture forward. I try to ignore the electric shock currently coursing through my veins... Isn't it wrong to feel so? She carries Jungkook's child... Not mine... How could I even dare to think these thoughts at such a time? Nevertheless, my heart refuses to listen and begins to fill with butterflies.
She remains quiet throughout the walk, an uneasiness hanging in the air. I respect her silence, simply holding onto her arm and praying Jungkook and Hoseok will make it out alive. I can't exactly say I have a strong bond with Jungkook (Hoseok and I managed to hit it off), but it doesn't matter... I can't stand to see Jangmi so distressed. I've never wished I'll upon him. She is happy with him; even if it crushes my heart to see her with someone else, it would crush me even more to see her heartbroken.
Jangmi suddenly stops dead in her tracks, her eyes widening with shock. I immediately halt, my heart beginning to pound for some unknown reason.
"Jangmi?" I question, stepping in front of her, "What's wrong?"
She looks down at her stomach with a worried expression, "My--the baby--,"
She begins to stammer, shaking her head in disbelief. She then curls her fists in pain, gritting her teeth, "The baby--"
"Jangmi, what do you mean?" I ask worriedly, "Is it just a kick? Pain?"
"Yes-- it's only kicking-- it hurts so much," her eyes begin to look glossy.
"It's alright," I pay her back reassuringly while smiling warmly, "We'll get to Yoongi's and take care of you. I'll do anything I can to help. I'll carry you there if I must."
"No no," she smiles through gritted teeth, "You are too kind-- but I'll walk."
"Your in pain," I utter softly, grabbing her wrist and trying to be appropriate with the contact as I gently scoop her up in my arms, "I'll be fast."
She smiles shyly, thankfulness visible in her eyes. If only it were affection instead...
~~ SANGHEE'S POV ~~
My eyes slowly flutter open, the gentle patter of rain filling my ears as I come to my senses. I lay still for several moments, my eyes remaining shut. I recall the precious memories from the previous night, pulling the bedsheets closer to my head as the air is far cooler this morning.
A warm smile overtakes my expression as Yoongi tightens his hold, both of his arms embracing my small little figure. I gently lift his arm, interlocking our fingers and nuzzling further back into his chest in seek of more warmth.
"Awake already?" he says in a groggy voice, his warm cinnamon breath trailing up the back of my neck and tickling the tip of my ear.
"Rather half awake," I respond softly, my eyes still shut. I listen carefully to the soft patter of the rain, feeling completely blissful whilst in his arms like this.
I eventually turn over so that our eyes can finally meet. I slowly disconnect from his embrace, searching for his mysterious orbs. However, his eyelids keep them hidden. I stare at his flawless porcelain face for nearly ages, admiring his beautiful features.
He slowly opens his eyes, his lips curving into a faint smile, "Go back to bed."
"I don't want too," I respond defiantly, tugging onto the sheets, "You should wake up."
"Too tired," he teases, refusing to open his eyes again.
I smile cheekily, sitting upright and inching closer to his tired figure. I lean down towards his neck, gently cupping his jaw with my soft fingers. I slowly begin planting a series of soft and tender kisses along his neck, smiling against his skin once his breath hitches.
"Your a bad girl," he says teasingly, reaching for my arms, "--But Mr. Min is cold. Give him some cuddles."
"Min Yoongi likes CUDDLES?!" I gasp in a dramatized tone, placing a hand over my lips, "You surprise me."
"You surprise me," he retorts with a huff.
"You surprise ME more--ah!"
I blink in surprise when he forcefully pulls me back under the covers, nuzzling his nose in the crook of my neck. He gently encircles his arms around my waist, pulling me in close against his body. I feel so warm and complete inside; I wish to stay like this forever.
"Go back to sleep," he orders through a yawn, kissing my neck once before returning to his original position.
"I love you," I utter quietly, wondering if he'll even hear me or not. My only reply is silence... I smile once I feel his chest gently rise and fall.
"Do you love me?" I add wistfully, my eyes gently fluttering shut.
