𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. . .

Finn sits in his desk chair, his co hosts on his screen, as he addresses the videos and photos of Gemma getting into his car last week.

"So explain this to me Finn are you and Gemma getting back together? Are you friends? Like what's going on?"

Finn huffs a breath a smiles slyly "I'd say we're friends, yeah"

His older co-host looks at him suspiciously "I don't buy that at all"

Finn shrugs in response to the speculation but makes no effort to deny it. Again, his co-host raises one brow and looks back to the sheet of notes he has in front of him

"It says here that she's with one of the Sturniolo triplets? Matt? Fans think they're secretly together despite the fact that over the past few months multiple sources have said that you and her are working things out, and you've both been spotted together"

Finn leans back in his chair and crosses his arms "I can't speak for either of them but I will say they don't exactly look like they're together and she never gave me any indication that they're together when I've spoken to her so..." he trails off nonchalantly, attempting to give off the vibe that he doesn't care for the drama.

The way he says it raises eyebrows and his female co-host squints her eyes suspiciously "That sounds weird to me but okay... moving on I guess"

Matt watches the clip and feels furious. He was under the impression that Gemma had made it clear to Finn in the past that she wasn't interested and that the two of them were going somewhere.

Sighing, he turns his phone off and pays attention to the tv the best he can. He rests his head on his hand and watches whatever movie Chris and Madi decided on, choosing to ignore the internet gossip and rumours that people spread for the fun of it.

Yes, Finn is technically right because him and Gem aren't actually together but that's not the point! It's not like the two of them have actively tried to hide the fact that they're close and Gemma thinks that people (including Matt) don't have any lyric comprehension, which means that some of the newer songs that the band has written are painfully obvious, but Matt doesn't care. You don't need to be a genius to figure out that Finn isn't the one she's calling late at night.

The more he thinks about it, the more frustrated he grows. Both with himself and the fact that Finn thinks it's fine to open his mouth when no one fucking asked. He stands up and dismisses himself, claiming that he needs to go to the bathroom but instead he walks down to the room where Him, Nick and Chris stay when they come to LA and makes himself busy by bagging up some of his things ready to move into their new place.

The move is something that makes things feel a little bit more real. LA, their growth as creators and as people, Gem.

He stops packing the trash bag and flops his hand on it, letting the sound of crinkling plastic fill the empty room. Gemma. Right. Officially being bi-coastal by having their own place in California means that he has a place to come back to whenever he wants, which means that he doesn't have to wonder when he's going to see Gemma and the girls next, which means that he really needs to get himself sorted.

He hadn't really been too concerned about putting a label on his and Gemma's relationship before because there was no need to be concerned. She told him herself that he was the one that she wanted and that was that, but now he's starting to have doubts.

He doesn't doubt Gemma's word, or her actions for that matter, but he does doubt himself. He's been talked about more in the past couple months he's known Gemma then over the whole almost two years he's been doing YouTube. The gossip pages, fan accounts and measly articles that are too invested in teenage celebrity's love lives have all left a bad taste in his mouth and he finds himself craving something different. Something that's just his.

Something that isnt tainted by rumours and lies and gossip, something that he doesn't have to tiptoe around. He knows what people have been saying, he knows how quickly the topic of him and Gemma has shifted to Finn and Gemma and a potential reunion, something that many people seem to be on the fence about.

As if she can sense what he's feeling, Gemma's nickname lights up his phone

He smiles at his phone and continues to tie up the white trash bag and move onto the next, actively ignoring the metaphorical ticking feeling inside. It's like this whole relationship has left him feeling conflicted and confused. He really likes Gem but he also really likes minding his own business and having people do the same so when Finn gets on his podcast and starts talking about not just Gemma and Matt but GemmaandMatt, he can't help but feel defeated in a way.

His relationship with his ex was different. He was younger, they were in school and he didn't have nearly as much success then as he does now. He's beginning to realise how much he really took that for granted.

Gemma lets Finn's words soak in as the clip keeps replaying while she sprays on perfume. What he's saying is a lie, obviously, but it does make her stop and think. She's made it clear to him that she doesn't want anything romantic with him and since finding out that he's been calling paparazzi to make it look like they're together all the time, she's been dodging his calls and texts.

If she went back in time to eight months ago and told herself that she was not only not acting like Finn was the dog shit on the bottom of her shoe anymore, but also that the two of them had been (strategically) spotted together on numerous occasions, past Gemma would've smacked the fuck out of current Gemma.

The thought makes her snicker first and then frown, her thoughts being pulled to Matt. It's not fair to him at all. She's done nothing but bring unwanted attention to him and although they haven't had that conversation she knows that he would rather them be a private, lowkey type of couple. Even though they aren't a real couple.

From an outside perspective she knows it looks like her and Finn are getting back together, and she knows why she has comments under her photos calling her a cheater, and she knows that Finn opening his big fat mouth on his podcast hasn't done any of them any favours in the relationship department, she cant help but feel sad. It wasn't like this with Finn when they were actually together, before he went and fucked everything up, and she can't help but reminisce on times when she didn't have to wake up wondering if there was going to be another petty quote from her ex about her current relationship status.

She didn't miss Finn but she certainly missed the simplicity of the beginning and she only wished that she could give Matt that same luxury.

Knowing that she can't leaves her thinking of him and what he deserves. She knows that it isn't this.

yeah that's bc I won't publish anything I absolutely despise, hence me rewriting things :) which is why chapters are shorter :) JUST TRUST ME OKAY :)
