Early July

"You know.. you're cute as fuck." Heather poked Bill on the nose. "Especially in my leather jacket. Damn."

"Are you f-fl-flirting?" Bill joked, his face turning pink at her closeness to him. "Yo-You are, r-r-ri-right?"

"Pft. Me? Flirting? With you? Always." Heather grinned, planting a kiss on his cheek.

Bill rolled his eyes teasingly, "D-Dork."

"Only for you." She winked, turning her face towards the sun. Her chest rose and fell as she inhaled the sweet summer air.

Bill smiled to himself, looking over at her. Bill couldn't help but face at her. At her smile, the slit in her left eyebrow, at her laugh..

Bill loved everyone about Heather.. even her impulsive, reckless attitude.

And Heather loved everyone about Bill.. even his need to lead everyone into a fight.

Mid July

"H-How are we s-s-supposed to g-get in?" Bill whispered harshly, point at the sign for the movie. "It's r-r-rated R."

"Who said we were paying?" Heather smirked, taking him by the hand. Their hushed laughter rang out through the air as she pulled him past the ticket booth.

Bill laughed, covering his mouth to silence the laughs. Heather looked back, grinning at him as she pulled him into the bathrooms.

"H-How are we s-suppsed to s-s-see it in here?"

Heather scoffed, gently shaving him with a laugh, "We're just waiting for it to start, dumbass."

Bill blushed, "O-Oh.."

"Thanks for asking me, though." Heather grinned, leaning against the wall. "I love seeing my name in big bright letters."

"I-It won't be the l-l-l-last time." Heather squealed when Bill poked her in the stomach.

He grinned, "T-Ticklish, are we?"

"No, no, no, no. No." Heather backed up into the corner. "Bill, babe, please no."

"Ah, ah, ah." He grinned, waving his finger at her.

Screams left Heather's lips as he dug his fingers into her sides.

"B-Bill! S-St-Stop!" She was barely able to get the sentence out between her laughs.

Once she caught her breath, he leaned down and kissed her. "The movies s-s-st-starting. Sh-Shall we?"

Late July

"So my parents fuckin suck." Heather groaned, getting her sunglasses fall over her eyes as she laid back on the blankets.

"Wh-What h-ha-happened?" Bill asked, gently laying beside her.

"They're fighting again.. I left before it got too physical. Ugh. Seeing their once happy married fall apart makes me... shit, I don't even know. I don't think love can come readily to me anymore.."  Heather sighed, focusing on the gentle lapping of the water against the shore.

"I-I'll w-wa-wait." Bill smiled softly at her. "As l-lo-long as I n-n-need to."

Heather's lips curved up as she turned her head to look, "How did I get so damn lucky?"

Early August

Heather smirked, tailing kisses from Bill's lips down to his neck.

Quiet whimpers left his mouth as he gripped the fabric of her shirt, pulling her body closer, "H-He-Heather-"

"Sh, sh, sh.." Heather hushed the boy, silencing him with a kiss. "Don't talk, baby."

Bill nodded shortly, tilting back his head as she tugged on his hair. "You're so cute when you melt into me. Like putty in my hands."

"P-Pu-Putty.." Bill stammered, his knuckles tightening from the tight grip he held onto her shirt.

"That's right," Heather laughed,  "Putty."

Mid August

"Do you think I'll ever actually change the world?" Heather's asked, splashing her feet in the water.

"Wh-What?" Bill looked up, his wet hair dripping.

"I-I mean.. What if I'm not good enough?" Heather began to ramble, "Or what if I die before I can do anything? Like.. What if I end up like JFK? Shot in the head? Because death? Ugh, death scares the shit out of me. Or what if-"

"H-Hey, sh, sh. You ar-aren't gonna d-die. You're gonna ch-cha-change the world." Bill reached forward, gripping her hand in his. "An-and I-I'll be there the e-en-entire t-ti-time."

Heather bit her lip, locking away from him. "Promise?"

"Pr-Promise." Bill confirmed with a nod. "You can d-d-do it."

"Okay. Now, let's get you home. You have something to show us, right?"

"Ye-Yeah. I ma-made a m-map.".

Heather smiled, leaning forward and planting a kiss on his lips. "Crafty."

Late September

Bill stood, flowers in his hand.. daisies.. her favorite, as he stared down at the dull looking stone. He reached up, wiping away tears with the sleeve of her leather jacket.

Heather Jane Scott
December 7th, 1975 - August 29th, 1989

Tears dripped from his eyes as he crouched down, placing the flowers on the dirt. "I-I miss you, Heather. S-s-so f-fu-f-fucking much. I-I...I-I'm sorry.. y-y-you were r-right! We should have just l-l-le-left!"

Bill's cheeks tinted red from the tears and his lips quivered as he spoke. "Y-You.. Heather.. you.. you s-s-said you weren't willing to d-die for me! A-and you d-di-did!"

Bill choked on his sobs as he fell to his knees, his tears dropping on the cursive writing of her name. "You did! Wh-Why would you.. do t-th-that? H-How could y-you?"

He felt like he couldn't even breathe as he spoke. "Yo-You're d-dead! And.. and it's all my f-fa-fault! It.. i-it.. it s-s-s-sh-should have been m-me! It should have been me."

His anguished cries echoed throughout the cemetery.

"I-I lo-lo-love you.. I-I always w-wi-will. I pr-promise."

His voice quieted to a shaky whisper as he spoke to her, praying she could hear him.

"I promise."
