"It's the birthday girl!" Tom booms as he opens Scarlett's bedroom door, holding a tray of bacon, fried eggs and toast, her favourite. Scarlett beams, taking the tray off of Tom and squeezing him in the tightest hug.

Tom sits next to Scarlett on her bed as she takes her food and scoffs it as if she'd never eaten before.
"I got you a little something." From his other hand, he pulls out an envelope, and Scarlett pauses her annual birthday meal to take the card and rip it open.

"Awh, Tom, you can't go and do these grand surprises every year! I can never top them." Scarlett blushes, placing the card on proud display on her bedside table.

Tom is beaming brightly, unable to wipe it off of his face. Seeing Scarlett happy made him joyous.
"Don't be silly. And anyway, you'd never be able to stop me from spoiling you stupid. You are my life long best friend."

Scarlett places a hand over her chest, pouting and feeling as if she were to burst.
"Is Harrison coming tonight?" She asks, digging back into her breakfast once more. Tom nods, and she smiles, glad to see that another childhood friend was coming to her annual birthday party. Harrison was always closer with Tom, but Scarlett didn't mind, they were still good friends.

"Is Ollie?" Scarlett nods. Oliver Coren was an up and coming artist, just like she was, and they met at the VMA'S a year prior. If Tom wasn't around, Scarlett would spend her time with Oliver.

Sat only in shitty pyjamas in their shared home, the two felt content. Birthday's were special, and this one was even more so.

Stepping out of her house in her favourite jumper dress Tom bought her a few months ago, Scarlett and her best friend stepped into his car, as they drove to Scarlett's birthday party.

"I see you remember the safety marriage thing." Scarlett mentions nonchalantly, going back to Tom's instagram post from this morning.

"You finally noticed," Tom laughs, eyes still ahead of him as he drives through a rather busy London town.
"Yeah, just thought I'd remember how we made that pact over twelve years ago!" Tom breathed, nostalgia taking over.

Scarlett remembers when they both made it, as she did everyday. That pact was the most intimate she had ever gotten with Tom, agreeing to marry eachother if they weren't with someone already.

"Weird how time flies by so fast." Scarlett nods, and Tom does the same.

"Anyways, I'm definitely finding The One this year. I can feel it." Scarlett says confidently, making Tom laugh at her ambition, but really she was just trying to convince herself that no matter what, her and Tom were never meant to be.
