HASHTAG OLIDAYA
❝ I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU ❞

ZENDAYA COULDN'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME SHE HAD EVER FELT SO RELIEVED WHEN SHE SAW HER BOYFRIEND WITH HIS EYES OPEN. She remembers rushing to him, holding him gently and constantly caressing his matted hair, whispering devotions of love in his ear and kissing his temple in a bid to never let him go. Oliver responded likewise too, his tears the only response he could give, throat hoarse so he barely spoke, but the aching smile he gave her told Zendaya a world of words.

That's all they did for the next seven hours until she was pried off of Oliver because visitor hours had been taken up and she was forced to go to the hotel across the road from the hospital with Tom, who equally found it hard to leave the twins and Scarlett behind after the traumatising day the six of them had suffered. Oliver fell in and out of sleep with aid from his painkillers, but always in her arms, so when she did finally leave at dusk, he found himself wide awake for the first time since he even remembers crashing the car, which was still a hazy moment for the rest of his time.

He doesn't remember even going to sleep again, but when Oliver woke up, the sun was peeking its way through the blinds of his room, and once more his girlfriend was sat on the armchair to his left, clutching his hand while she read a book. He sat up and squinted, trying to get his eyes to focus on the title of the novel that had caught Zendaya's attention, but sighs defeatedly when he was unable to, snapping Zendaya's head away from the book pages and concerning herself on Oliver.

He wipes away the frustration in his face almost immidiately, quick to replace it with a tired lopsided smile, reaching Zendaya's hand up with his own, kissing her knuckles sweetly. "I got my own room? I really have made it." He chuckles lightheartedly, trying his best to make sure the subject with his usual demeanour of jokes and sarcasm, though it wasn't quite the same.

Luckily Zendaya took no notice of the lack of execution in his joke, her teeth poking through her smile, nodding enthusiastically. "Yep, this has been the ultimate test of your fame, and I'm here to say you passed, and won a prize."

"Oh? And what would that prize be?" Oliver joins in, his eyebrow perked up in curiosity.

"Me, of course!" Zendaya giggles, and Oliver couldn't help but break out into a wide smile, the scorched searing pain in his head subsided when he wasn't thinking about it.

There was a comfortable silence for the next few minutes, the two just enjoying their own company like they had learned to do since the accident just a mere 22 hours ago. But after the few minutes, the silence had settled Oliver's mind. "I was facetiming Scarlett last night..." He began, tracing circles on Zendaya's bare arm that her t-shirt didn't cover, recalling the first conversation with his best friend since they both almost died.

Zendaya's head perks up, "Oh yeah? How is she? I was there when she woke up, but that's all I've seen of her."

"Yeah, she's doing good. She wanted to steal a wheelchair and see the twins, but I managed to convince her to get Tom to do it this morning," He chuckles, nerves settling in his voice, which confused Zendaya, her brows furrowed in thought, but she let him carry on. "And um, she was saying how Tom told her that you said you'd want to..." He trails off, and he didn't need to finish for Zendaya to understand where he was finally going, and she sits up from him straight away, tucking her hair behind her ear and stuttering, trying to find the right words to say.

"Oh! Yeah— I did, but you know, it was a crazy day, I didn't know if I was ever going to see you again—" She goes on a tangent, setting herself up for rejection.

But Oliver laughs it off, placing a calm hand ontop of the gesticulating hand of his girlfriend, which stopped her tounge, looking at him with a sudden worry in her eyes. "I was going to say, you know before you jumped to conclusions, that I would love to do it. I don't even care about a big, fussy ceremony with everyone we know watching us get married. Let's just get our best friends, our godchildren on facetime, a hospital priest and just elope. If anything good has come out of this absolutely frightening situation, it's realising that I don't want to spend another second just being your boyfriend."

Zendaya sits there, mouth agape, completely lost for words. The tears of joy that welled in her tear ducts spoke more than her goldfish mouth, and not knowing when she'd be able to speak and the shock would wear off, wraps her arms around Oliver's neck gently, clutching him as tight as she could without hurting him. Her head buries itself in the crook of his neck, peppered kisses on the same spot of his neck that she could reach.

"I— let's do it." She whispers into Oliver's neck, jumping back suddenly with her eyes widened in ambition, and Oliver laughed as he could see all the plans scanning across his new fiancée's eyes. Oliver's nurse stood in the doorway, facing the back of Zendaya, but Oliver saw her lack of usual smile on her face, and with a look in his eyes insisted she stayed put. "I gotta do loads! I need to uh, get the hospital priest, need to schedule a time for my mom and dad to facetime in, your dad and sister, and Scarlett and the twins can obersve on a wheelchair! Be right back! I love you so much!" She kisses Oliver, her face bright and excited, the anxieties of the crash yesterday washing over her as she looked forward to the newest chapter in her life.

Over the next twenty four hours, Oliver spent most of his time sleeping to get his energy up for the small and private ceremony that is going to be held in the very room he slept in. Scarlett was the first person outside of the nurses that Zendaya decided to excitedly tell that she's engaged, and she excitedly forced her own nurses to let go of protocol on two occasions; one for the ceremony itself, and one so she could congratulate the couple.

"I'm so, so happy for you, Oliver. Every cloud has a silver lining, eh?" She hugs him in congratulations, hopping out of her wheelchair onto the room's one chair for that bit of extra comfort.

The smile was nothing that Scarlett had ever seen before; one of pure joy, and it was right on Oliver's lips. "Speaking of, how are my godchildren? I am godfather, yes?"

With a small giggle, Scarlett nods affirmatively. "Of course. You are The Godfather." She speaks in an American accent, mimicking the movie, which she knew Oliver would love, and he did, his smile only growing bigger. "They're so perfect, it's hard to think I gave birth to my son in that literal car crash, but he and his sister are the greatest. I can't wait for you to meet them."

The next half an hour was spent as the old days were; Scarlett and Oliver, two best friends spending quality time together. Only this time, most of it was spent looking at Scarlett's children, and gushing about Oliver's wedding plans. They both realised at that moment they weren't the single twenty-somethings that had their whole lives revolving around nothing but their music. They were adult thirty-somethings, married, and with kids. A lot had happened in the last few years.

When Zendaya returned, having chosen a cute party dress to get married in, the time of the ceremony organised with the priest, and Oliver and Daya's family who'll be facetiming in from wherever they were in the world, it was almost seven in the evening. The sky was still bright and shining, showing no signs of going any time soon, and so it felt more like three or four. She looked a little frantic when she entered, but as soon as her eyes landed on Oliver's, she felt calm again, and Oliver noticed, her shoulders relaxing and a lovesick smile looping on her lips.

She approaches her fiancé, weaving her hands through his matted hair, peppering kisses on his head. "I need to get you a hairbrush before tomorrow, big guy." She mutters in his hair.

"I thought you liked my bed hair, you said it was sexy," Oliver pouted, and Zendaya laughs in response, squeezing his cheeks so his pouted lips became puckered. "As much as I'd like to jump your bones, Mr Coren, my mom will be watching us get married, not a sex tape."

They stayed like that for the rest of the night, holding one another like they'd never let each other go, because marriage is a sacred thing, and they knew from the second they started dating, they'd commit to one another till death do them part, without realising when that moment would come. Oliver fell asleep first, dreariness of medication taking over his urge to watch his fiancée relax in his arms, and she remained on his lap the entire night.

Some would say it was bad luck to sleep with your betrothed the night before the wedding day.

Though that thought didn't once come across when the happy couple woke up on the 12th August, the day they'd be committed to one another for life. The morning was a blur, with Zendaya with Scarlett as they did their own hair and makeup in the maternity ward while looking over the twins, and Tom helping Oliver change into a slim smart casual shirt and tie on Zendaya's request, his hair brushed too for the first time in days. The hospital chaplain walked in around noon, Tom and Oliver the only ones in the room. The priest was accompanied by a nurse who no doubt guided him to the room, but was by all means allowed to watch on request by Oliver.

"It's not everyday my job includes marrying people in a hospital, but I welcome it." The priest, Father Roger, greeted Oliver and his best man, and a small blush rises on his cheeks. "Thank you, trying to make this day as best as it could be." He replies sheepishly.

Father Roger assembles his vows and the script for the ceremony at the end of Oliver's bed, as he and Tom conversed quietly among eachother. "Sorry to intrude, gentlemen, but can I ask you something, Oliver?" Roger asks, his head rising from his deep preparations.

Oliver shrugs pleasantly, "Ask away, Father."

"It just makes me curious as to why you would elope here, a place where you nearly lost your life, when you could wait to have a beautiful ceremony with all your friends and family?"

That was the question that made time stand still for Oliver. For days, the hours would fly by, often feeling life was fleeting by as he prayed to leave the hospital. He was right; he could give Zendaya the best ceremony that he could, not in a white, bleach-smelling hospital equally filled with death as it was with life. He took a moment with Father Roger, umming and ahing as he wasted time for an answer. There was none.

After a minute, a wry smile appeared on Oliver's lips, glancing at Tom momentarily, who seemed just as interested in his reply. "I don't know, if I'm being truthful. It just felt like where it needed to be."

Father Roger nods, in understanding, surprisingly. "Ah, yes. The spirit inside us often guides us more than we'd like to know."

That sentence hung in the air around Oliver for minutes, maybe hours, he wasn't so sure. The next time he properly saw the room around him, his dad and little sister were in the room, along with Tom as acting best man and Father Roger, the room now feeling a little crowded, but he was thankful it was big enough.

"Will there be enough room for my soon to be wife?" Oliver chuckles, and the whole room laughs with him, even though he didn't find it that funny himself. Maybe they were just laughing as a courtesy because he was in a hospital bed.

All of a sudden a silence fell upon the room, and Oliver perked his head up to let his eyes gaze upon Zendaya peeking into the doorway, Scarlett following her in a wheelchair but dressed in a maxi dress in a lilac colour that matched the sheer elegance of Zendaya's dress. She really did plan every detail in just a day.

She walked up beside Oliver's bedside, and Scarlett wheeled herself next to Tom, and their hands laced together silently as they watched on with the most amazing wedding of the century, and it was in a London hospital room.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we're gathered here today to celebrate the lawful matrimony of Oliver James Coren and Zendaya Stoermer Coleman. If anyone has any reason to believe that these two should not be joined together in the eyes of God, please say now." Father Roger begins, and the room remains silent, allowing him to continue, his eyes focusing once more on the couple sitting together, their hands clutching one another as if they'd lose each other forever.

As the ceremony continued, Oliver had suddenly recognised that his head was throbbing, and the ceremony overlapped his medication, and so he would know he would have it the second he said "I do". He glanced over at Tom and Scarlett, the other married couple in the room, who so happened to be the best man and maid of honour, and they were close to tears, holding their hands like Oliver and Daya were. Perhaps it was the traumatic event they had just gone through that bonded them for life, as two couples and a group of four friends.

Father Roger cleared his throat, pushing his glasses up his nose. "Now I believe you two prepared your own vows?"

Oliver widened his eyes in shock a little, really expecting to not do much apart from repeat exactly what Father Roger would be saying, but the way Zendaya nodded affirmatively told him she had asked for this, so now he was prepared to wing it entirely for her.

Turning to Oliver, Zendaya smiled shyly as she let go a shaky breath, her eyes licking with his. "Right, so this is the absolute last place I've pictured marrying the love of my life, but then again I never knew the love of my life would be you, Oliver Coren." Daya giggles, wiping any premature tears threatening to escape. "When Tom and Scarlett went off to travel the world last year, I felt alone, and I valued you being for me as a friend. Then all of a sudden it just hit me in the face in the summer— I valued you as so much more than that. Our love kinda grew quick, but then again we'd been best friends for two years, we got out everything else in the way and went the way we wanted to go. And I love that about us. And I can't wait one day, to explain to our children..." She trails off, seeing Oliver well up with tears of happiness, "That the happiness day of my life was in probably the place they'll be born, and it'll be funny. I love you, and I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together."

The only sound in the room was the sound of muffled tears, from Scarlett, Oliver and Zendaya, and even Oliver's sister. Father Roger turned to Oliver, signalling it was his turn, and he cleared his throat, sniffing up all the snot he had accumulated from the happy tears. "Well, I hope you're ready, because it's about to go from elegant to mediocre with speeches real quick," A collected laugh falls upon the room, more genuine this time. "Zendaya Coleman, you have been in my life in more ways than one. As the cute, confident girl on Disney, the giggly, warm friend that Scarlett introduced me to four years ago, and the loving and romantic girlfriend stood infront of me right now. And I am so thankful for those four years, all four. I will never forget you, your smile, your charm, your wit, and everything else. Our children better look like you, or they're set up for dissapointment! You are seared onto my heart, Mrs Coren, and there will never be anyone else. Not even close."

Smiling through her tears, Zendaya enclosed her hands around Oliver's. "Not bad for mediocre." She laughs, and he laughs with her, facing back to Father Roger as they momentarily forgot his presence.

"So, do you, Oliver Coren, take Zendaya Coleman to be your lawfully wedded wife, for better or worse, for richer and poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?"

Oliver nods.

"And do you, Zendaya Coleman, take Oliver Coren to be your lawfully wedded husband, for better or worse, for richer and poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?"

Zendaya laughs, "Of course."

Father Roger shuts his script, "You may now kiss the bride, son." He says to Oliver, who happily obliges, leaning up ever so slightly so he met Zendaya in a fiery and loving kiss, the applause and cheer of their friends and family surrounding the room.

The next few minutes were busy and filled with congratulations, and Oliver felt the need to sleep every so often, his head now pounding. The room eventually became silent, just the bride and her groom sitting in the hospital bed together, the new wife stroking her husband's hair gently.

Oliver yawns, "Go fetch my nurse, Mrs Coren, I need to take my meds." He says lazily, but a wide smile still rests on his face.

Zendaya met the smile with one of her own, placing a chaste kiss on his lips before standing from the bed, sorting her bouquet on the bedside table. "Okay, Mr Coren, you gonna rest for a bit?"

Oliver nods in response, "I love you!" He calls as she leaves the room, her hand lingering on the door frame, biting her inner cheek. She still couldn't believe she was married. "I love you too." She whispers, but it was still audible enough, as she walks to find the nurse presumably at her station.

She just didn't know that would the last words she'd say to him.

zendaya: at 4:39pm, just 31 minutes after we officially became husband and wife, oliver had suddenly passed away from a brain hemorrhage caused by the head trauma from the accident two days prior. it was a sudden thing, and he didn't suffer, but he was still only 29. he didn't even make 30. i have a duty to tell everyone as his wife, and i have, and there is nobody i will miss more. any other news will come from my representative and my lawyer as i begin to seek legal help and press charges against the driver who collided with his and scarlett's car.
love you, ollie.
