Chapter Twelve
I took of my painful heels as I walked up to Peter's apartment, my homecoming dress soft against my thighs as it swayed with each step. I inhaled sharply, knocking on Peter's door.
Aunt May immediately opened it, almost startling me as she gasped. "Oh Megan you look so beautiful!" She said as I smiled, looking down at my my dress.
"Thank you, May. You look like you're about to enjoy some time to yourself." I joked as she stood in her pajamas. May laughed as she brought me inside.
"Peter hurry up!" May yelled down the hall as I awkwardly held my heels in my hands.
"Yeah I'm coming!" Peter said as he practically burst through his door, buttoning you his black jacket, stopping in his tracks to stare at me. A smile lingered in his lips as he mouthed 'wow.'
I felt my cheeks burn as May ran into the kitchen, coming back with a corsage and a camera.
"May we don't have time for pic-"
"Just one picture, Peter!" Peter groaned as I giggled, slipping on my heels so I was now at least 2 inches shorter than Peter as I walked up to him.
I felt his arm cautiously wrap around my waist as I leaned into his body, a smile on our faces, both of nervousness but looked good. "You two are so cute." May said as Peter stiffened, getting a laugh from me.
"Aunt May we gotta go." Peter said as I laughed more, May sighing as she ushered us out.
"Don't have too much fun!" May winked at Peter, who gave her a 'what the fuck' face as she slammed the door behind us. Peter looked over at me before I started laughing.
"Well.. you um.. you look really, pretty Megan." My laughter faded as my smile stayed.
"Thank you Peter. I'd say the same but that would be weird to call you pretty. But you do look very cute." I said as he blushed, chuckling nervously as we walked down the stairs.
"Wait. Won't we have to walk?" Peter said as I shook my head.
"Don't forget, Parker. I have a driver. and pretty sure you've met him." I said as we slipped into Happy's car.
"Hey kids. You ready?" Happy said as Peter stiffened, staring at Happy. I smiled, nodding as Happy drive to our school.
We were there within five minutes, and as I opened the car door, Happy leaned over. "You go on ahead, Megan. I think I'm going to talk to Peter." I looked at Happy then back at Peter, frowning before shrugging and walking out.

(Peter's Point Of View)
"Happy I-"
"Look kid. That Vulture guy? He's the father of your ex-crush, Liz." Happy said as I widened my eyes. I let out a quick sigh of relief.
"I thought you were going to talk to me about Megan." I said with more relief than the sigh.
"Oh I am." I felt my heart skip a beat. "Megan. I can't reveal too much without giving something away, but needless to say she basically thinks of me as an uncle." I frowned in confusion. Give to much away? "Anyway, that means that she thinks of me as family, and I protect my family. So, if you do anything to hurt her, I have permission from Tony to break your legs."
"Tony? But she's never-"
"I mean her dad. Tony. Her dad." I watched as Happy's eyes widened, hoping I didn't realize what he said.
"I thought Megan's dads name was Cliff- WAIT A DAMN MINUTE-" Happy slapped his hand over his face, shaking his head. "Tony- as in Tony Stark... is- he's-"
"Yes. He is. You can NOT tell Megan that you know. And you fed can't say anything to Tony that you know or- he'll kill me then you." I quickly nodded, clearing my throat as my mind raced.
So that's how she got all of that equipment for our project. And how shes so smart. And why she refused to take me to her house.
"Now hurry up and go see her before she gets suspicious." Happy said as I quickly nodded, racing out the car.
I found Megan in the gym, my heart racing as she swayed around, looking bored. I tried my best to look confident as I walked up, a smile growing on her face.
"Finally I was thinking you were about to ditch me." She said as I laughed nervously, realizing what I was about to do.
"Yeah um... ha.. Megan I'm. Really. REALLY sorry but I can't do this. I have to go." Megan's smile quickly turned into a frown as I ran out the door, her eyes following after me.
I ran down the empty hallway, stopping by a locker group and lifting it up, snatching my old web shooters and suit before running off, ripping the tie aggressively off my neck.

(Megan's Point Of View)
I trudged over to the drinks and food, standing next to Landon. "Hey Landon." I said with a slight anger in my voice.
"Let me guess. Peter ditched you like he ditched Liz last year?" (In this AR Peter had asked Liz last year but bailed out of nervousness) I sighed, nodded as I sipped my fruit punch.
"I don't think he is nervous though. I think my uncle just scared Peter away."
"Oh like Liz's dad last year?" Landon chuckled as I nodded, biting into a shred of cheese.
"I honestly thought he was different, Landon. He's so nice, and cute and sweet. But I feel like he's hiding something from me." I said, setting my cup down.
"Pfft. Hypocrite much? Honey you need to remind yourself of whose daughter you are." Landon whispered the last part as I sighed, nodding.
"But still. I do it out of protection for myself and my friends. Peter is always off disappearing somewhere and then pretends like nothing happened, and now I'm finding bruises on his neck and face after he comes back and it's scaring me! I mean.. what if he's fighting people? But that sounds NOTHING like Peter." I said as Landon nodded.
"Maybe he is trying to be like Spider-Man and help people."
"A 16-year-old boy with no superpowers has nothing against Queens." I said as I walked out the door Peter ran out of, leaving Landon alone while MJ walked up next to him.
My heels clicked on the tiles flooring as I crossed my arms.
I frowned when I saw what looked to be a snake laying on the ground, but it turned out to be a tie, followed by a jacket, then a dress shirt, then pants, and finally, dress shoes.
"Who do these belong to?" I said as I pulled out my AI contacts, slipping one into my eye. The contact turned on, scanning the shoe as a photo of Peter appeared. I frowned.
"Why on earth would Peter just strip in the middle of the hallway..." I said as I continued walking, slipping off my heels.
"What the-?" I heard what sounded to be flesh hitting metal, peering out the exit to see Spider-Man in his original suit on the ground, weakly getting up as Ned came from around the corner, shooting the man that towers over Spider-Man away.
"Jesus!" I yelled, flinching. I quickly changed my mood, walking out of the building as Ned flipped around, fear quickly clouding his eyes.
"Megan! What are- what are you doing?!" I let my mouth drop open.
"Is that spider-man?!" I said as Ned turned around to face him. Suddenly, I felt a gun against my back. I stiffened as Ned turned around, his eyes widening in fear as Spider-Man ran up next to Ned.
"If either of you boys come closer I'll shoot her!" The voice behind me said as I tried my best to fake being scared. I wiggles my brows at them, Ned frowning in confusion before I slammed my head back, hearing a crack as I broke the mans nose.
I flipped around, grabbing the hand with his gun and then his elbow, ramming his arm on my knee, snapping his arm. The man yelled in pain as I flipped him over my body.
"Next time choose a girl who doesn't know how to fight like the karate kid!" I yelled, purposely kicking them like a child as Spider-Man and Ned stood there. Ned's mouth was wide open, and if he wasn't wearing his mask, Spider-Man probably would be too.
"Megan that was SO SICK." Ned said, running up to me as he embraced me in a hug. I froze for a moment before hugging him back. Spider-Man just stared.
"What were you thinking?!" He yelled as Ned released hill the hug, standing next to me as the man under me fell unconscious.
"What?! I had to protect myself!" I said, crossing my arms.
"H-he could have EASILY killed you."
"But he didn't!"
"You were being careless!"
"I was being defensive!"
"By slamming the back of your head into someone's nose when they had a weapon?!"
"Exactly!"
"You- you cant just do that!"
"Well I just did!" Spider-Man started to stammer, like someone that I know.
Now that I think about it, em he even sounds like someone I know.
"Wait..." I stepped forward as Spider-Man took a step back.
"I-I don't have time for this! I need to go!" Spider-Man said before he shot a web, disappearing into the night sky. I groaned, turning to frown at Ned, but he was gone.
"I am SO ready to beat them about about this." I said as I kicked the man one last time before I called Happy.
["Megan it hasn't even been an hour-"]
"Yea well that's what happens when your date ditched you to strip in the halls of a school." I said, holding back an annoyed laugh as Happy sighed.
["Look, the plane just took off. I'll be over soon and I'll take you to the Compound."] Happy said as I sighed.
"Okay. I'll see you soon." I hung up, wiping away the tears I didn't know had fallen. There were two emotions I was feeling right now.
Fear, and anger. Fear after having a loaded gun pressed agains my back. Anger after fighting with my hero, and even more anger towards Peter, who ditched me for no reason.
I stood in the parking lot as Happy pulled up. I stepped in, frowning at him. "What did you tell Peter?" I said comfy as Happy stiffened.
"Nothing. I told him nothing. Just gave him the 'uncle/dad talk.' Guess I scared him... I'm sorry." He said. I knew it was a lie, but I wasn't in the mood to press on, leaning my head on the window as Happy sighed, am driving to the compound.
My phone buzzed, a message from Landon.
Landon: LOOK AT TRENDING!
I frowned, opening the link Landon sent me and gasped, watching a live stream of someone as they filmed our plane full of expensive tech and furniture, which was on fire. I could barely make out the two figures on top, but I could tell one was Spider-Man.
The plane started to fall, the live stream cutting. I frowned as I looked at Happy with a slight fear.
"Happy... The plane is under att-" suddenly, a ball of flames appeared in front of us. The plane crashed on the beach, and although I pleaded for Happy to take me there, he quickly drove faster to Upstate New York.
"Happy all of our equipment was on that plane!"
"Your father can replace it! We are getting you home where it is SAFE." I slouched, crossing my arms as I looked at the burning plane. We drove by the beach, and I could clearly see Spider-Man without his mask on. My vision wasn't great, so I took this as an opportunity to pull out my phone.
As I zoomed in on Spider-Man, quickly snapping a picture, a smile on my face.
Time to see who you really are." Before I could open the photo, it was erased from my phone. I frowned, searching through my gallery.
"What the hell?" I said. I turned back, but I was too far away to see his face. "Hax, wheres that photo?"
"I'm sorry Megan. But I have no idea." He said as I groaned.
"I almost got to see his face."
I was so close.
Yet so far.
