Chapter Nine

(𝖬𝖾𝗀𝖺𝗇𝗌 𝖯𝗈𝗂𝗇𝗍 𝖮𝖿 𝖵𝗂𝖾𝗐)

I fell over Bucky's lap, a loud an annoyed groan escaping me as Bucky frowned.

"You mind telling my why you're trying to break your back in my legs?" He said as I looked up at him, furrowing my brows.

"There is a chance I may have almost accidentally told a friend of mine I'm Tony Stark's daughter BUT DON'T WORRY!" I said as Bucky's eyes widened. "I covered it up. So now... There is a guy that works here named Clifford DeVoe and he doesn't even exist!"

"Megan-" I cut Bucky off with a frown.

"If my dad finds out that I almost let the biggest secret of my life slip out then he will pull me out of school without a second thought! I Obviously can't do that! One, because I have friends there. And two, if I just disappear like I never existed people are going to start questioning things. And then-"

"MEGAN. ROSE. STARK." I visibly flinched, falling off of Bucky's lap as I shot up, staring at my dad.

"Heyyyy dad. I um-"

"15 years. You were able to keep your secret a secret for 15 years after trusting a guy you've been friends with for 12 years. I let it slide because hey, you trust him. I trust him."

"Dad I'm sorry-"

"I'm not finished." He cut me off. My dad crossed his arms, frowning at me. "You meet a few new people that you've barely known for a month, and now Bruce has to cover up for you when you almost tell someone you are my daughter."

"Dad please it won't happen again-"

"You will be leaving school at the end of school tomorrow." I felt my heart drop.

"Dad but I'm leaving for nationals tomorrow-"

"And you will be going to that. But after nationals, you are not allowed to step foot into that school." I clenched my fists as Bucky sat there, as still as a statue.

"You're being overdramatic! I covered it up! Now he thinks that my dad works for you! Can't you just cover it up too?" I forced the tears that threatened to fall back as my dad rubbed his eyes, groaning.

"God dammit, Megan." I felt my lips twitch into the slightest smile. "I swear to god. If this happens again, you aren't even going to get the chance to say goodbye to your friends."

I held back the urge to burst into joy as I nodded. "I promise it won't happen again." My dad mumbled something as he walked away, and I let myself fall to the seat next to Bucky.

"You know, I never really thought I'd be so scared of your dad. Especially for something that I didn't even do." Bucky chuckled as I nodded.

"He really hasn't been that angry at me since-"

"I really prefer we not talk about Ultron. You're dad almost killed me for not keeping you safe. Especially after what Ultron has done." I tightened my mouth shut as I pulled up my sleeve, staring at the purple scar on my arm. Bucky pulled me into a comforting side hug. I smiled as I hugged him back.

My phone buzzed, alerting me that I had a call.

𝗜𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺: 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗼𝘆.

"Pretty boy? That doesn't happen to be Peter, does it?" I played pushed Bucky as he laughed, standing up and walking out of the main room to my bedroom.

"Hey Peter. What's up?" I heard Peter slap something, followed by an 'ow.' I frowned, tilting my head as I flickered in the lights. "Is Ned with you?"

["h-hey Megan. Uh yeah he is. I just um.. I was wondering if you maybe wanted to uh.. have dinner tonight? With um. With me."] I could only imagine how red Peter was at the moment, a smile crossing my face as I bit my tongue.

"Yeah! That sounds great. When would you like to-"

["does uh.. does in the next hour work?"] He said, cutting me off as I sighed, nodding.

"That sounds perfect." I heard Peter sigh in relief. "Where do you plan on taking me?"

["oh um... Somewhere fancy?"] I snickered.

"Don't bail on me, pretty boy." I said with a smile.

["Why would I do that?"]

I finished drying my hair into beach waves, only applying mascara and lip gloss as I fixed my red dress, grabbing a matching purse and shoes.

Here's the dress:

I took a look in my film body mirror, putting in my AI earrings before smiling, taking out my phone and snapping a picture, sending it to Landon.

Landon: Girl how tf did you get someone as hot as Peter Parker? My gay ass has never been more jealous of you.

Me: I have my ways.

Landon: Your ways include: Being hot af and hacking into a school network to get Peter to be your lab partner.

Me: How many times do I have to tell you that I didn't even know he really existed until decathalon, but never met him until like... 3 weeks ago?

Landon: until I get a boyfriend.

I chuckled as I put my phone away, hearing Happy honk the horn as Steve walked in.

"What's the occasion?" He said as I rolled my eyes.

"Thought Bucky would have told you, or my dad. I.. am going on a date."

"Pretty boy?"

"Dammit Bucky." I frowned as Steve chuckled, bringing me into a bear hug.

"I swear, if Peter even brings to think about putting a finger on you-"

"Jesus Steve he's not like that." I said as he chuckled.

"Yeah yeah whatever. Go have fun with him. Be home by 11."

"Yeah okay mom." I said as I practically ran out the door to Happy's car, a smile on my face as I jumped in the back.

"Hi Happy!" I said with a bigger smile. Happy looked through the mirror at me, eyes widening.

"I thought you and Peter were just going to study?!" He said, turning to face me. "You look great though."

"Well, he asked me to dinner."

"Peter. Asked you, to dinner? That doesn't really sound like him." I frowned, tilting my head.

"What do you mean?" I said with curiosity. Happy shook his head before turning back, starting his drive to Peter's.

"Nothing. Peter is a good kid, Megan. I think you will understand how good sooner or later." I furrowed my brows in confusion but nodded, a smile still on my face.

Happy is right. I had truly known Peter for only 3 weeks, but it feels like I have known him my whole life with how close we are getting. Peter is one of the nicest people I have ever met.

If I was a bad person to him, I'd hate to get on his bad side. I wonder how much pint up anger he has.

I had drowned myself in my mind, thoughts running havoc. Before I knew it, I was standing in front of Peter's apartment door for the second time.

I hesitated before knocking on the door, hearing the chatter of a nervous Peter and hyped up May as she ran to the door, swinging it open.

"Megan it's so good to see- oh my god you look so beautiful!" May say as I smiled.

"Thank you, May. It's so good to see you again. Hi P-... Peter." I stared at Peter, feeling my cheeks burn slightly. He was in what looked to be a brand new grey suit with black shoes, his hair just slightly slicked back. It honestly looked like May helped him pick it out.

I instantly noticed Peter's cheeks turn red as I smiled. "You... you look, amazing." He said as I blushed more. I looked at the ground, trying to hide how nervous I was.

"Thank you, Peter. You look just as good." I winked, watching as he blushed more. "Shall we go?" May coughed as if to tell Peter to hurry up.

He nodded, giving May a hug before shutting the door.

"Peter this place looks pretty expensive. Are you sure you can afford it? If you can't I can just pay I really don't mind-."

"No! I made sure that I sold enough things so I could pay for this place. I don't want you to waste your money on me. I can pay for us." Peter said as he looked at the menu.

Who the hell would buy mashed potatoes for 8 dollars?!

I sighed as I nodded, looking at the menu. "If you say so, Pretty Boy." We both looked up from the menu as I smiled, winking at him.

"Hello, I'm Jamie and I will be your waiter for tonight." A man just slightly older than me and Peter said, walking up to us. He had to be no older than 18, since he looked like he goes to our school.

"H-hi could I just get a Uh.. a Coke?" Peter said, his eyes glued to the menu as Jamie scribbled down the order on his notepad. He turned to me, a smile that wasn't there before on his face.

"And what can I get for.. you?" He said, eyeing me up and down. I cleared my throat, giving him a small smile.

"I'll just have a water." Peter looked up, raising a brow as Jamie walked away.

"You can get any other drink if you'd like, Megan." He said as I shook my head.

"I'm not really a big soda person. It's fine, really." I said as I set my menu down. Peter set his down after me, and for probably a good 5 minutes we sat in silence, smiled on our faces as we stared at each other.

"Here are your drinks." Jamie said, handing me my water while giving Peter his soda.

"Thank you." We said in unison as Jamie nodded.

"Are you ready to order?" He asked as we nodded.

"I'll have a medium-rare steak, please." I said, Peter asking for the same thing. My eyes went wide for a moment as I realized how much it would cost.

"Peter. This dinner is going to cost over $70. Are you sure you-"

"It's fine, Megan. Really! I have enough." He said as I sighed, nodding as I knew I wouldn't be able to talk Peter out of letting me pay for us.

The rest of the night had gone so perfect. I'll be honest, this was my first real date, I had never thought it would go well.

The steak was just as good as I imagined, but definitely not as good as the steak that my mom makes.

I could tell we had been bothering some people with the sounds of me and Peter's laughter, since we had been given several annoyed looks.

"So, what about your internship at Stark Industries?" I asked, Peter's eyes going wide as he sipped his soda.

"Um.. what about it?" He said, sounding nervous.

"What's it like to work with Tony, you dork. There are a lot of mixed emotions about him, you know. I want to hear what you have to say!" I said, nudging him with my foot. He chuckled nervously, shrugging.

"Well, he's actually really nice. Granted he Uh.. doesn't agree with what I'm doing at the moment... but he's super nice." I frowned, tilting my head. I questioned if I should ask what Peter meant by that, but didn't really want to push it.

Jamie walked over, a smiled on his face as he handed Peter a check, slipping me a piece of paper. I frowned as I noticed it had his number on it.

Yeah. Not happening.

I crumpled up the paper, dropping it in my glass as Peter pulled out his money, placing it on top of the check.

I smiled at him, grabbing my purse. "You ready to go?" I asked as he nodded, both of us standing up and walking out.

We hadn't walked for very long, since the restaurant was close to Peter's apartment. We stood in front of his doorway for a while, laughing at one another for no reason.

"Thank you so much for tonight Peter. I really enjoyed it." I said with a smile. Peter nodded as he looked down at me.

Why am I just now realizing he is half a foot taller than me? Thank god I wore two in heels. Sucks that my feet are absolutely killing me.

My feet shuffled in pain as Peter's smile stayed. "Me too. I really hope we can do it again, Megan." I nodded.

"I would like that." Me and Peter stood in silence again, a small tension in the air.

The door swung open, May stopping in her tracks. "Oh, hey guys! You're home! I was just about to go get some ice cream.. we ran out." She said with a smile.

Peter cleared his throat, putting his hands in his pockets as my phone buzzed.

Happy: I'm at Peter's.

"Oh. My ride is here." I said with a slight sadness as I looked up at Peter. "Thank you, again Peter. Tonight was wonderful." I smiled as Peter nodded, turning on my heels as I tried my best not to limp away in pain.

"So, did you kiss her?" May asked as I tried with every ounce in my body not to laugh.

"May!" Peter whisper yelled as I walked down the stairs, their talk being muffled as I laughed quietly.

I want a ship name for Peter and Megan.
Pegan.
Or Meter.
Hehe... Meter. That's stupid but funny.
