Chapter 3 - My Dad got custody and our uber driver is my cousin, we also went to KFC.

POV - Percy 

It was almost lunchtime, Mr. Officer drove us to the police station. We left the hospital just a few days ago. We got to live at Mr. Officer's [whose name is Steve] house, which apparently is in a neighborhood. We got to see his wife who cooked us pasta after she heard what happened to Mom and Paul. She clearly was like Mom before she moved on. After those five days living in his house, we were finally brought to the police station, Steve said and I quote, 'My colleague said that she found the person that will take you and your sister into custody .' I will clearly miss those five days with him and his wife and his kid whose name is Addi. 

Now focusing on the present, Steve stopped the car, "Kids we're here, anything you might forget?" He asked. Estelle and I both said "No." Steve gave us a nod then opened his doors to get out. I and Estelle followed behind him.

We later went into Steve's office. We sat at his chairs. "I'll be right back kiddos, I'll just have to wait for your person and let them sign the papers." He said, he then closed the doors leaving me and Estelle. 

It was very quiet for me and Estelle, it was only three hours since Steve left us in his office, it was very quiet which weirded me out, not gonna lie. My ADHD already acted hours ago so I'm completely fidgeting around. Finally, the silence broke, "Percy, I-I'm scared." I heard Estelle mumble. I quickly stood and kneeled down in front of her. "Sssh, it's ok Estelle, if this person will hurt you, I'll make sure that I'll bring you to Steve's house myself and let him have you over his custody. Don't worry about me ok? Remember about mom's stories that I saved the world twice already?" I said. She nodded, I wiped her tears as they fell off her cheek. "Just remember, I'm always there for you, no matter what," I said in a comforting voice. Estelle then continued crying but I quickly wiped her tears trying to comfort her. 

After a few hours, Estelle had stopped crying, I was in my chair and she was in my lap sleeping, Estelle let a gentle snore. After a few minutes has passed, the office door finally opened, there revealing Steve, he noticed Estelle sleeping in my lap so he whispered, "Percy, the person is here. He's stating that he's your dad or something and also said and I quote, 'just tell him that his uncle has allowed me to take custody over you-' and more." With that, my eyes went wide, 'Uncle Zeus and Dad?! Agreeing on one thing?!' I thought. I gently woke up Estelle, her eyes fluttered and when she saw me, I pointed at Steve, she quickly understood my response and went to her chair to pick up her backpack. I nodded at Steve that we're ready.

After a few minutes, we finally met dad at the parking lot. He was wearing his usual attire, which is a Hawaiian shirt, his white Hawaiian shorts, and his cap at his belt hole. He finally noticed us and gave us a wave. I gave him a smile as a response. When we got closer dad gave Steve a paper and said, "Thank you for taking care of them, I am in debt of your kindness when you get home your wife has received something and I wish that it will repay you." 

"It was my duty of being an officer. Your welcome sir, now I must get going. Kids, take care ok?" Steve replied, he ruffled my hair and gave Estelle a stuffed bear. "Addi told me to give this to you, she said you were the best sister she had." With that, he gave us his final wave and left. 

Our heads turned back towards dad, he gave us a smile and said, "What a good man. I'm glad he took you into his care for a while, and I'm sorry for taking you guys this late, me and Zeus had a fight about me taking you into custody. He got outvoted by Athena's hand, raising." I looked shocked, Athena? Agreeing with dad?! Shocker. I let chuckled, "Well looks like our uber is here. Let's go, I'll treat you guys for a bit, but first, let's eat." He said we followed dad into the uber. When we got in, to my surprise, Hermes was there. As our driver. 

"Hey there cous' and mini cous'. Hello too Uncle P. So where are we heading?" Hermes asked as his eyes looked at the mirror also looking at us. "Take us to the nearest fast-food restaurant," he told Hermes. Hermes gave us a two-fingered salute and started driving. 

The car stopped, we were at KFC, the literal nearest fast-food restaurant that is near the police station. Hermes dropped us off the side-walk, he said that he will be back, he'll just run some short errands after. Soon Dad, Estelle, and I went into KFC. Dad went into the line right after and asked us what would we like to have, I told him to get food that isn't fish, Dad nodded started to wait for his turn.

Later on, Estelle and I went to find a table. We found one, and it was at the back, there were not that many people, so we're safe. After a little waiting, Dad finally brought us the food, of course, he was holding it with two hands as a normal person would. He then gave us our food. It was all chicken which was ok, but I forgot. I need to give my half as an offering, I started to panic and tried to find the nearest fire. Keyword: Tried. 

'Of course, why would there be a fire here, this is a fast-food restaurant.' I gave myself a mental slap. Dad laughed as if he heard my thoughts. "It's ok son, you can offer 'til we get home, just eat your meal, I'll order again so you could offer it when we get home." He said, I slowly nodded and started to eat. 

Time skip, after eating, Dad went back to order a bucket of chicken. Later on, we called Hermes, and finally, we were back at our apartment. Dad placed the bucket at the kitchen counter and opened the stove, as the stove's fire grew, I finally dropped the whole bucket of chicken and prayed a thank you to the gods who outvoted Zeus, which includes Hermes. Finally, Dad dragged me into the living room with Estelle to watch Finding Nemo. Later that day, we had a little reunion and continued watching movies. 

AN- Ayup, if this story blows up, should I make a story about Percy and Estelle's five-day living in Steve's house?
