As winter drew near, flowers were covered in a thin sheet of snow, bugs and forest animals began to migrate and hibernate, and trees were bare to the bone.

You know this change happens once a year, and you always try to make the most of this beautiful weather.

You noticed your ears and nose would get red throughout this time, but it didn't really affect you in anyway. You embraced this special time of year, even if your appearance changed in just the slightest.

You always wondered what snow was for, how it happened, and where it came from.

Usually you would use a small wooden shovel you made to scoop off snow off your flowers so they can breath.

Some of your flowers would die or wilt, and you would grieve over there deaths every once in a while. A small pain would prick you every time a flower died, probably the only times you've ever felt pain before.

You kept scooping up snow with your shovel and putting it in your basket when suddenly, you uncovered a very peculiar looking plant. A spikey black plant half covered in snow. 

You tried your best to scoop off the rest of the snow but to your surprise, a resting shikamaru was uncovered.

You quirked your head to the side in confusion and poked the boys cheek.

It was very cold.

The Nara began to stir awake from your poke, and opened his eyes very slowly. His vision was blurry for a second, and he rubbed his eyes to get a better look at the person hovering above him.

"(Y/n)?!" He suddenly shot up and started to shiver. "Gosh its so cold," His nose was red and his ears. Just like yours.

"Good morning Shikamaru!" You greeted. 

The Nara, still shivering, gave you a tired but flushed look before lying back down. You followed, wanting to spend time with your friend.

You wondered if the cold had gotten into his head because he began pointing out different clouds that looked like things you could find in real life.

You giggled and wanted a turn as well, you pointed up to a cloud that had three circles all put together. To you it looked like a bunch of rocks stacked on top of each other but Shikamaru couldn't say the same.

"Nah, I think it looks more like a snowman." He bluntly said.   

You perked up, a word you didn't know. "What's a snowman?" You asked. Shikamaru sighed, 'What a drag' he murmured to himself. "You don't know what a snowman is?" He questioned you back. 

All you did was nod your head, and he got up. 

You followed suit and watched as he made a little ball with some snow. "Here," He handed the snow sphere to you and you looked at it with curiosity. 

Shikamaru watched as you examined it and then motioned for you to put it on the ground and roll it.

You didn't know what to expect but what surprised you was that the small sphere began to grow in size the more you rolled it. 

"Wow..." You were amazed at what was happening and kept pushing it forward to roll. 

Shikamaru blushed at your flushed and astonished expression. He ran over to the opposite side of the giant ball and stopped you from rolling it.

"This is are base," He patted the top of it. You looked back up at the sky and remembered that the cloud Shikamaru said looked like a snowman had three spheres. Each stacked on top of each other and the spheres get smaller the more they get stacked.

Shikamaru smiled in just the slightest, "I think you know what the next step is." You smiled back and began to follow what the Nara has done before. You grabbed some snow, and packed it up into a little snow ball.

You placed it on the ground and began to push it till it started to roll and get bigger in size.

Shikamaru already finished his, it was way smaller then the first one and the one you were making at the moment.

You stopped when you thought the snow sphere was big enough, and looked over at Shikamaru for confirmation it was the right size. He nodded and you beamed happily.

You stood, looking between the big snowball and the medium sized one. Shikamaru chuckled, "You're probably wondering how were gonna stack em' huh?" You nodded once more and the boy went to go get something from the forest.

You were curious as to what he would get because you couldn't think of anything in that place that would help.

Shikamaru finally emerged out from the forest with a long but small piece of wood.

You watched as he placed the wood plank on top of the big sphere and take your medium sized one, rolling it up the wood.

Your eyes sparkled in admiration. "Woah! You're so smart!" You complimented. 

Shikamaru looked at you and smiled to himself. 

"Take the small sphere and roll it up," He told you and you did as he said. Finally the snowman was complete, you thought.

But Shikamaru told you there was still a little bit needed to be done for the man of snow to be finished.

He told you to go to he forest and get two same sized twigs as he did some other things. You nodded and went off to the forest. 

To your luck, you found two same sized twigs in a couple of minutes. You ran back huffing and puffing, handing the two twigs to the Nara.

He took the twigs and added them onto the side of the snowman. "Now its finished," He said as he put his hands on his hips, looking proud of his creation... with the help of you of course.

Your lit up, the snowman had flower petals used to make eyes and a nose, the twigs were used as hands, and last some flower buds were used as buttons.

"So this is a snowman, that's so cool!" You praised.

"Yep that's a snowman." Shikamaru finished as he rubbed his nose. 

He patted you on the back, "I have to go home now, it's freezing." He started to shiver again. You giggled at this and nodded. "Goodbye, and thank you for showing me something new!" You smiled.

Shikamaru blushed again for the third time today, "Anytime." 

To him, showing you things wasn't such a drag after all.
