6. Missing the blood scale
-Emrald's pov-
I woke by Saphira softly nudging me. "Come on, it's time to go," she said as she walked over to Eregon, who was already packing. So that elf Arya was up to. I grumbled and stood up, stretching my body and hearing satisfying pop and Crack. Soon I was pushed enough, so I walked over to the humans waiting until they were ready. Suddenly I smelled something. It was a human, that was sure, but who? It smelled like a young boy aorund eragon's age.
I growled and took off into the trees not 3 minutes after finding the intruder. I let go of him once I was on the ground. He stumbled over to Eragon and Arya. I snarled in a warning, and so did Saphira. "Who are you?" Eragon said as he wore a cold face. On the other hand, I had lowered myself to the ground, the scales on my stomach barely touching the soft soil. The boy raised his hands and said, "I do not belong to either the Varden or the Empire. Nor do I owe allegiance to any man but me." He said.
I frowned.

The boy joined us after introducing himself as Murtagh. He rode on me as Saphira couldn't bear more than two people at a time. I didn't mind as long as the boy didn't try anything. Finally, we reached a place where Eragon and he had to go on foot. We landed and bid them goodbye. 'Be careful,' I said, go Eragon un his mind. I think Saphira said the same thing as she flew off. I followed her quickly. She had Arya on her back after the young elf was still wounded.
In the meantime found the two males at the entrance to the Varden and entered it. But the Urgals weren't far behind them. "Shall we handle them?" I asked as Saphira, and I fled over the clouds to not be spotted. Saphira sighed. "As much as I wanted to, we have to stay hidden." She said. I muttered some words and took a somersault. Now I hope that those humans can lead and do the right thing.
Not long after, said Saphira that Eragon had called on us. I nodded, and we both dove towards the ground, my bing faster since the radiating blue tone scales had an elf on her back. Soon enough, we landed outside the waterfall that was the gate to the Varden. "You can go after me as Eragon asked for me," Saphira said and walked inside, me trailing behind her. As we walked through the tendrils of water, I felt many new scents. But none were terrible, so I didn't growl.
When we were fully inside, I saw Eragon and Murtagh. The latter was shackled and held back by the guards of the Varden. I sneered lowly but decided not to show hostility. Eragon walked over to Saphira, and I saw that Murtagh wanted over to me. 'Stay, Murtagh. Irs better that they don't know yet,' I said in his mind calming him down. The leader of the Varden then offered us shelter from the Broddring Empire. And we had to prepare for war. I hope I survive so I can see y/n again.

-y/n's pov-
I threw myself in the sticky substance clouded together in the vast blue sky. I sighed in contentment as I took yet another fresh breath of the air. Many would say that above the clouds, the air was thin and difficult to breathe, but I found it only refreshing. But I was a beast bred to thrive in the sky of earth. I was born to kill and to survive. My armor is like tenfold shields; my teeth are swords, my claws spears, the shock of my tail a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death.
I was proud to be called a dragon. But something was missing in this world. Something each dragon sought but never found. A soulmate. A mate to share your uttermost secrets with. One to thrive long and far, one to live and grow old with. And I had left mine in the care of two mortals and another dragon who wasn't near my age. I had lived, breathed long. Too long. I saw the betrayal of our "king" the day the young dragonet hatched to the young farmer boy.
I was the first of many. But certainly not the last. The razing of the dragon riders shall thrive, and the darkness shall perish. Anger now welled up in me by the thoughts that I couldn't name. I missed emerald. I needed him. So with an annoyed growl, I turned. The clouds gave away to landscapes of vegetation and rippling rivers. It was a beautiful sight to behold, and not far, I would be making sure our mad king didn't destroy all this. Soon, finding my beloved companions' scent, I roared once and then let myself fall to the ground at an alarming speed.
I even passed some birds who screeched in surprise as you surpassed them. I chuckled profoundly and opened my wings, catching myself before getting spiffed by the trees. Then I glid calmly on the air as it carried me to my friends.

-A/n pov-
The group of 6 sat silently eating their lunch. They had been preparing for war against the Urgaz for days now. suddenly the golden green dragon emerald shot up, sniffing in the air after a scent filled his snout with the sweet aroma he never thought he would see again. "what's wrong with him?" Murtagh asked, but the dragon male ignored him and roared once as if calling. Soon after, a softer roar answered, and through the waterfall gate came a dragon. Its scales are as red as blood, and bright blue orbs hold the sky's vast ignorance in them. Between her obsidian horns stretched a sun-streaked sail, all the way down to the tip of the tail. She was beautiful. "y/n!" Emerald cried and rushed over to his soulmate, the dragon of blood scale. "oh, it's y/n. She's back," Eragon said happily as he walked around with Saphira to the female dragon.
"Welcome back, y/n," saphria said as she nuzzled the other dragon. You smiled and nuzzled her back before dipping your head. "Eragon," you say, purring once his soft hand comes in contact with your chin. "welcome back," he said as he smiled at you. The group was together again. You lost one member but gained one more. Durza and his army had no chance.
