JIHAN started, not looking at her twin brother's direction.

" do you think something happened between DAERYUL and her parents? "

JIHUN stays silent for a moment, thinking of a response to give.

" i'm not sure, maybe they fought or something...i hope they're alright though... "

" should i tell HYEIN? "

the YE twins immediately turn their heads at the voice.

" i already let her know, don't worry about it. she must be busy with her own things, i don't want to bother her "

DAERYUL manages to show her best friends a small smile.

beside the short haired teen, her step-brother, MINHYUK is carrying one of his step-sister's bags.

" thank you oppa, you really didn't have to come with me here... "

" oh hush, i wanted to do this. thank me instead of nagging, alright? "

MINHYUK gives his younger sister a teasing expression, lightly nudging her with his shoulder.

" oh! MINHYUK-oppa, you can just give DAERYUL's stuff to JIHUN, he'll take care of them! "

MINHYUK and JIHAN hands all of DAERYUL's belongings to the poor victim- i mean JIHUN.

" hey wait a second- i didn't even get to greet RYUDAE- yah YE JIHAN- "

before JIHUN could even say hi to his friend, JIHAN pushes him inside with DAERYUL's belongings.

MINHYUK lets out an amused chuckle while DAERYUL shakes her head at her friends, already used to seeing their banter.

" hahaha don't mind him! do you guys want to come inside? "

JIHAN offers, but the teenage KANG shakes her head.

" if it's alright with you, could we set up like a small picnic area in your backyard? the stars are the best when you look at them there "

" of course! and uhm... MINHYUK-oppa, do you want to join us too? "

the female YE twin's ears and cheek turns red at her own words, suddenly becoming shy in front of the older KIM.

( obviously he noticed that )

" sure. i'd like that, JIHAN-ah"

MINHYUK gives her his signature ( BUT GENUINE ) smile, the one that makes the girl's heart flutter and fill with warmth.

" o-okay... "

JIHAN returns his smile with her small, shy one.

DAERYUL who witnesses this, remains stunned ( and kind of excited? ).

wah... is my best friend and step-brother really doing this in front of me? when did they even start going out? why didn't she tell me? BETRAYAL-

the said girl breaks out of her inside thoughts, sending a shake of her head and a small smile to her friend.

" sorry, spaced out for a sec, let's go "

" KANG DAERYUL! "

the trio turns their heads at the familiar voice calling out for the short haired girl.

" eomma? why are you here, i told you i don't want to talk right now "

DAERYUL frowned at the sight of her mother, annoyed that she wasn't listening to her.

wanting to give them privacy, MINHYUK and JIHAN leave the mother-daughter duo alone.

" why did you just leave like that? you should have spoken with me after you calmed down, you shouldn't deal with this immaturely- "

DAERYUL scoffed at her words, her reaction shocking her mom.

" of course, you came here to nag at me didn't you? if that's what you're here for just leave. "

she turns around and gets ready to leave, but RYUJIN's next words made her freeze.

" your dad wouldn't like seeing you like this, DAERYUL. "

this was the first time her mother had mentioned her father in years.

memories flashed in her head,

shouting, crying, the door slammed.

" HOW WOULD YOU KNOW?! YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WHAT HE'LL THINK OF ME! HE WON'T EVER KNOW WHAT I THINK OF HIM. YOU NEVER GAVE ME A CHANCE TO MEET HIM AT ALL! "

DAERYUL lashes out at her mother, her emotions fully driving her system.

RYUNJIN's heart sinks at her daughter's words, but the uncontrollable tears that the teenager shed broke her even more.

" god, why am i even doing this... can i be a YE instead? "

before she could say anything else, her daughter walks away from her with perplexity of emotions, leaving her empty, worried, and emotional.
