⋆﹙ ⋆ ࣪ ˖ ﹚ ˒ ─ overview: alyssa has regarded her mother as her biggest role model and inspiration since she was a child. valentina was her first best friend; alyssa would accompany her everywhere, including to her mother's acting and modeling sets, where she would sit in awe and watch her work. alyssa was practically a miniature version of her mother, and the two were closer than ever.

however, as alyssa grew older, the two of them began to drift away from each other. of course, as alyssa approached her adolescent years, valentina became more stern with her, but for good reason; she didn't want alyssa to make the same mistakes as her, but alyssa, being a strong-willed young woman, assumed that her mother despised her and was acting the way that she was because she preferred her older brother instead---causing alyssa to resent her mother right back. because of their significant differences in viewpoints, the two of them found themselves constantly being at odds with one another.

there would always tension between them, and their fights would often be heated, with the two of them refusing to speak to each other for days, if not weeks, until one of them swallowed their pride and apologized, and on some occasions, chin-hae would have to intervene and act as a mediator if neither of them would say sorry. their previously close bond had been replaced by cold looks, words laced with venom and insults intended to hurt the other person.

believe it or not, alyssa's arrest was what helped them mend their broken relationship---who'd have guessed that such a tragic situation could cause something to turn out well? it all occured as alyssa was still in police custody, and the two of them had a heart-to-heart conversation for the first time in what seemed like an eternity-they addressed their feelings and actually understood each other.

after alyssa moved to south korea, they communicated via text messages, phone and video calls. they gradually returned to way they had been before alyssa's teen years---inseparable. they currently have no secrets between them and can talk about everything and anything. as corny as it may sound, alyssa considers valentina to be her closest friend. her mother is the very first person she turns to when she is experiencing difficulties in life.

however, in order to offer alyssa with everything she desired, he would have to work very long hours, resulting in his not seeing his daughter as much as he intended, and alyssa was aware of this and she understood. instead, she respected chin-hae's work ethic and utilized the fact that he was never around to motivate her to study hard in her academics. when he was there, alyssa would show him her good grades, and the smile on his face would be the greatest reward for her. this led alyssa to work hard on all ocassions, to make her father proud.

alyssa has always been a papa's girl, being closer to him than she was to her mother, and if we're being honest, she may have preferred her father over her mother...to put it bluntly, chin-hae was her favourite parent. even when alyssa has done anything wrong, chin-hae has never raised his voice at her. instead, anytime valentina and alyssa clashed over something, he would defend her, even if she was in the wrong. he's always been protective of alyssa because she's his first daughter, and maybe, just maybe, he's still struggling to ascertain that the little girl who used to play with barbie dolls is now grown up and has her own family.
