Suho hadn't come back by the time a new school year had begun, and any contact with him had dwindled significantly over the break. Jugyeong was still receiving replies, even if they seemed to lack anything other than check-ups on his dad.
They had gone up a year, moved to Class 3-6 in which Miyeon was surprised to find that she was still classmates with Jugyeong, Sooa and Hyemin. Not only her closest female friends but also Sihyun, Hyunkyu and Taehoon. Thankfully, Seojun had joined her there as well, and the two had resumed their seats in the back of the classroom.
Rumours has it that during the break Soojin had dropped out of school to study abroad. She couldn't face anyone, just like Miyeon had predicted. Hopefully her time aboard would help with her attitude towards thing, and the Hwang girl could only wish the best for her, even after everything.
What she had expected to come did, when one day she received a call from Jugyeong detailing her and Suho's breakup. The Lee boy believed it to be better, feeling awful about not being able to be there for her.
Then, a lot of her contacts with Suho had decreased significantly, as it had with Seojun. She was there to comfort Jugyeong, and even if her calls from Suho were mostly to do with how his ex girlfriend was doing, she didn't freely mind.
The year had passed in a strange sort of way. Seojun and Miyeon had accepted the offer to become trainee again, although until they graduated it was only a part-time thing so they didn't become overwhelmed. It seemed Move Entertainment really had changed, just like Heekyung promised.
She had actually studied, even if they weren't planning on going to university, and took the CSAT.
Miyeon was simply doing it to appease her father and the school (she was their remaining top student now that Soojin and Suho had left), and did get into SKY Universities. Of course, she didn't end up going, but the fact that she could've done so was enough for her.
Seojun hadn't done it, but came along to wait for her afterwards and treated her to dinner - he let her pick and didn't complain at all when she chose something spicy.
And now they were graduating, leaving high school life and education behind to become full-time trainees, heading towards a uncertain debut in a future full of hard work.
"You ready?" The voice made her jump out of her skin, twisting around to face the boy who she had been waiting for. "You can't just stare at it forever."
"I know." Miyeon smiled at Seojun, nodding down to the flowers in his hands. "Who are they for?" She secretly hoped herself, but the way things were, she knew they would probably be for Jugyeong.
"Don't look so upset." Seojun smiled gently. "One of them is for you." He held out the rather multi-coloured one, the other one being yellow with hints of pink. "The woman at the shop told me all the names - here."
He plucked a card out of his pocket. "Baby's breath, chrysanthemums, delphiniums, lisianthus and tulips." Seojun read, holding it out to her.
"You know these all having meanings right?" Miyeon pried the card from his fingers, looking down at the list. "And I'm just going to go home after this and look them up."
"Why do you think I was so late." The Han boy offered a soft smile. "I hope the meanings are alright with you."
"No matter what they are, I'm still going to be here whether you like it or not." Miyeon flashed him a much wider smile, tucking the bouquet under her arm and admiring it for just a little longer. "Now come on, I've snuck Eunjoo in with cake for everyone. Quick!"
She began into the school, pulling the door open with a particular enthusiasm, Seojun chuckling as he followed in behind her, the two of them cliimbing the stairs until they reached their floor.
Their group of friends were already taking pictures by the doors of their classroom, Eunjoo holding the camera and enlisting the help of one of Miyeon's poor classmates to hold the box with the cake in.
"Come on, you all look too sad!" She exclaimed. "Smile - or else you won't be getting cake."
Taehoon, Hyunkyu, Sihyun, Sooa, Hyemin and Jugyeong stood in a little group, Seojun glancing down at the bouquet of yellow in his hands and the girl in the centre of it all, head shooting up when he felt Miyeon push him towards her slightly.
"Go on." Miyeon nodded, splitting off from her best friend as he called the Im girl's name, being instantly surrounded in a hug by Sooa. "I see you found my classroom pretty quickly." She smiled at Eunjoo, who hurried to give the phone to Hyunkyu.
"Your friends made it easier." Eunjoo pulled the girl into a hug, and when they pulled away she reached to tuck a stray curl behind her ear. "Here, I have something for you." Reaching for the bag that Miyeon had yet to see the contents of, Eunjoo drew out a small bouquet of flowers.
"I know you have that book on flower meanings. Read it when you get back." Eunjoo smiled at the girl she had watched grow up, an affectionate glint in her eye. "Ah, I can't believe you're graduating - quick, you need some pictures.
Miyeon nodded, swallowing the thickness that had risen in her throat. She didn't need to read her book to know what one flower amongst them meant - a cotton flower; maternal love. "Yeah, good idea." She nodded once more, willing herself not to cry as she positioned herself between Sooa, Hyemin and Jugyeong, taking a picture with the three girls, then with Sihyun, and then Taehoon, Hyunkyu and Seojun joining them.
Cradling the bouquets in her arm, she watched as Seojun and Jugyeong took a photo by the window, one with him messing up her hair, the other with his arm around her shoulder. The jealousy had long faded over the year, she knew that it was still complicated.
"Han Seojun and Hwang Miyeon next!" Eunjoo ushered, as Jugyeong was pulled away with Sooa. "No - don't make that face Miyeon, you two need some pictures together."
"We had plenty as trainees." Miyeon shook her head, but didn't protest as Hyemin gently pushed her towards the awaiting Han boy. "Fine, take them on my phone."
Handing Eunjoo her phone, she took her place, smiling up at Seojun and meeting his eyes as Eunjoo began clicking away. She stiffened slightly as his hand drifted down to her waist, squeezing just slightly before dragging it upwards.
"Now Jugyeong!" Miyeon said, after it seemed like Eunjoo had taken more than enough photos. The Im girl took Seojun's place, carefree smiles on their faces as they posed.
"I don't suppose there would be any chance for me to get in there, would there?" Miyeon looked up, seeing Hyunwoo stood in front of the group. "It seems like you've got enough flowers - but I thought I would get you some anyway."
"Song Hyunwoo!" Eunjoo gasped, the boy jumping out of his skin but bowing slightly when he saw the woman. "You missed our dinner the other night."
"Miyeon, does your housekeeper know everyone?" Hyunkyu commented, a look of bewilderment on his face.
"I live in the same building as Mrs Choi." Hyunwoo explained, before looking towards Jugyeong and Miyeon." Any chance I could get a few photos with her?" He asked.
"Of course." Jugyeong nodded and sidled out of the way, instantly pulled in by Sooa - who had begun to whisper about something.
"You weren't at dinner?" Miyeon asked, head tilted upwards as Hyunwoo passed her another bouquet, slipping it amongst the others. Eunjoo begun to take pictures.
"I took up singing this year, did you know?" Hyunwoo began, a smile arranged on his face that seemed to become a little realer when his attention changed to Miyeon. "And I've played piano for as long as I remember. I didn't do too great on my college applications, so I decided to go to an audition."
"Audition? Would I happen to know where?" She was half joking, but Hyunwoo could figure out exactly what she was insinuating.
"You would. Very well." He replied. The Hwang girl's jaw dropped, almost dropping the bouquets in her arm. "Smile for the camera, Miyeon."
"You didn't tell me this!" The girl settled into a position beside him, his arm hovering by her shoulder until she reached up and placed it down. "We're friends, okay?"
"Got it." Hyunwoo nodded, shouts down the end of the corridor alerting him. "And now there's my other friends. I'll let you know if I do well or not."
"You better." Miyeon watched as he left, turning to try and find Seojun, only to be pulled into a photo by Eunjoo, who had enlisted Sooa this time.
And after more pictures were taken and cake was shared, Miyeon stood by the edge of the group, feeling happier than she had in a while. Her phone buzzed in her pocket, and carefully placing the flowers down on the nearby windowsill she extracted it, staring at the message in shock.
'Congratulations on graduating. You joked about not being able to do it many times, but Seyeon would be be proud of you both - LS'
"You look like you've seen a ghost." Seojun's voice made her look up, her expression causing his eyebrows to twitch upwards and he twisted around to look over her shoulder. "Or heard from one, apparently. You ready to go?"
"Yeah, I'd say so." Miyeon nodded, eyes drifting around the classroom one last time. "Lets go eat spicy food."
"I hate spicy food." Seojun complained, but he didn'y deny her request, the two of them quickly saying their goodbyes before joinging Eunjoo in walking out of the school.
"I expect you two to turn of for dinner at least once a fortnight. Now you're not in school I'll have no idea where you are." The Choi woman said, Seojun and Miyeon having expressed their wish to go eat spicy food and were now walking her to the car. "I need to make sure you're eating properly and staying healthy."
"Of course we will." Seojun got in his answer before Miyeon could, catching her eyes and smiling. They reached the car, Seojun helping take the various bouquets out of Miyeon's arms and arrange them in the backseat - Eunjoo was going to drop them off at her home for her. "You ready to go?" He repeated his earlier words.
"I'm starving." Miyeon nodded, turning to walk off before pausing. "Wait - I'll just put that card with your bouquet, so I can identify them later."
"I was.. half joking about that." Seojun admitted, a blush spreading across his cheeks. It didn't stop Miyeon, pulling open the back door and exchanging brief words of explanation to Eunjoo, reaching in her pocket for the card.
She pulled it out, reaching for the multicoloured bouquet and in attempts to She pulled it out, reaching for the multicoloured bouquet and in attempts to secure it somewhere, she flipped it over. And written on the plain, creamy side of the card, a small message;
A small smile appeared on her face as she finally managed to tuck the card away, straightening up and closing the door, turning back to her best friend as the began to walk away from Saebom High.
She could wait, she'd done plenty of it already.
