Miyeon supposed it was a date. In fact, in all terms except vocally confirmed, her and Hyunwoo had gone on a date. And she had liked it. She liked going to the cafe and walking in the streets and talking.

Miyeon and Hyunwoo had been on the first date. And it was cute, and friendly and a good first dare. They had talked about first date things, such as getting to know each other through what drinks they liked. Things that you talked about on first date.

It was bad to compare them, considering Seojun was strictly her friend and they hadn't done anything near dating. But she had never needed to talk about first date things with him. Never had to worry about what she was saying when she spoke to him or had to think about how to reply to things.

That had come naturally to them as they become closer and closer friends, just like it had done with Seyeon and Suho. They hadn't needed to ask questions or find out about each other's likes and dislikes.

But that was what you did when you first got to know someone that you hadn't really properly spent time with before. According to Seojun, Hyunwoo had followed her around middle school like a lost puppy - but whatever they had known about each other back then was completely different.

And despite these things being strikingly simple and first date things to do, Miyeon still found herself comparing Seojun and Hyunwoo.

Nothing about them was even comparable other than the differences between their first proper time hanging out. They were completely different people as well.

Han Seojun was cold and sometimes calculated, he tended to be harsh and say it as it was. But underneath he was far too caring for his own good and dealing with things that people shouldn't have to. Seojun sang, he loved singing and quit it because he couldn't stand that the agency he was at was so horrible. He was completely and unequivocally in love with Jugyeong yet hiding it for her sake.

Song Hyunwoo was innocent and cute. He had fluffy hair, wore circular wire glasses and had dimples. He liked to read and would drink coffee so bitter that it was honestly surprising how sweet he was. Hyunwoo would pull his hand through his hair and took cheesy pick up lines from his friends because he was nervous.

In fact, the most they seemed to have in common was that they both always commented on the Hwang girl's choice of drink. And had given her tonkatsu at some point. The tonkatsu was a good point, she took it seriously.

And they both dropped her off at her home when it was time for her to go. Seojun on his motorbike, and Hyunwoo offering a cab and walking her home when she denied it.

Having taken the stairs from the foyer of her building up to her apartment, Miyeon was rather out of breath as she reached her front door, unlocked it and pushed it open, eyes widening as she saw lights on.

Pulling off her shoes, she left them at the door and walked past the kitchen, eyes landing on the couch. "Lee Suho. Care to tell me how you've broken into my house?"

"Your dad sent me a key. Said that someone should be able to get in here. He didn't want to have it because he worried that you would think he was invading a part of the contract?" Suho looked up at her, shrugging.

"So you break in, didn't think to call me?" Miyeon pulled off the black wool coat around her shoulders and hung it up beside the leather jacket, hand brushing against the feather around the collar before twisting around and going to sit beside him.

"No, you were on a date with that guy from middle school. Jugyeong told me." Suho replied, watching as she sat down. "You have a nice apartment. You and Seojun picked out a good one."

"I'm lucky I got it. According to the woman we met with it's really popular. My dad probably pulled some strings to make sure I got it." The girl shrugged. "Hey - back to that Jugyeong thing. Is she okay?"

"I don't know, she was kind of off with me for some reason. I took her all this medicine but she said that she would be fine after some sleep. And I got her some porridge." Suho looked worried, struggling with what was wrong with his girlfriend. "She said she was grateful, but then got upset about me being.. kind?"

"Oh.." Miyeon frowned. "Did she say anything else?"

"It was weird - something about how me being kind equated to a lot of girls liking me. And how her dad was right about good looking guys causing heartache." Suho continued, recounting the conversation. "Then she ate the porridge and seemed to be fine."

"I think she's just... I'm not sure. She must not be feeling well, worried about the bullies or something. She would be terrified over it - especially what happened to her at her old school and that girl who hurt her in the burger shop that time." Miyeon said slowly, trying not to let anything else slip from what she knew. Miyeon had known that Jugyeong wasn't feeling well. But she hadn't figured out just how guilty that she was feeling over the Soojin stuff.

They sat in silence for a couple of minutes, Suho considering what Miyeon had said. "Yeah, the bullies. That would make sense. She's been really worried about them." He thought for a moment more, then turned to the girl. "Is this Song Hyunwoo the same Hyunwoo from middle school?"

"Why does everyone seem to know me but him?" Miyeon asked, sitting back into the sofa with a sigh. "All I remember is him giving me tonkatsu."

"You seem to like him. But does he compare at all?" Suho asked, Miyeon freezing. "I mean if you went on a date with him then that means you have some feelings. But what about-"

"It doesn't matter." Miyeon cut him off. "You know he doesn't like me and who he really likes, so it doesn't matter how I feel." She shrugged.

Suho didn't have a reply to that. He couldn't seem to imagine just how Miyeon felt about her friend. And how deep her feelings ran if it meant she was more willing for him to be happy and liking her own best friend rather than telling him about her own feelings.

It was so selfless. And Suho didn't know how she could just give up something like that.

❛ AUTHORS NOTE ━━ ok so i saw that people were confused over this particular part and honestly if i hadn't written it i would be confused too but i'm gonna explain it

so that part
basically miyeon is joking about seojun's relationships, or should i say lack thereof - talking about jugyeong

seojun replies about her digging the dagger deeper into the wound and sprinkling salt there - making it worse/hurt more

they're both joking about miyeon's lack of relationship with anyone, and then because miyeon knows about jugyeong that plays into it if that makes sense!

sorry for the confusion <3
